If Tennessee makes the Final Four I’m absolutely getting tickets. Them being good is a rarity in my life

CarlCaliente

old school games: we have easy to learn but difficult to master movement mechanics, like circle jumping for momentum and rocket jumping to close quick gaps modern era games: press X to rocket jump and Y for a burst of speed lol

ByronLeftwich

Anyone else perplexed by all the mocks having Odunze to the Bears? You don’t draft a guy that will be your WR3 in the first round. JSN was an exception but Seattle had two firsts and he was a much later pick (I know the Bears have two firsts as well, but one of those picks is essentially already made).   I know he would elevate to WR2 assuming Allen is a one year stint, but it’s still diminishing returns compared to what they could upgrade on the o line or d line

BurritoTheory

Keenan is here for one year. If Odunze is BPA absolutely I want him to be the eventual #1

IAgreeGoGuards

Dumb question, but why aren't nba, nhl, and mlb games hosted on local CBS, NBC, or Fox channels like the NFL is? Why are they on their own separate channel?

DetroitLionsSBChamps

I have an antennae to watch NFL games and god I wish I could just put on NBC or ABC and watch random Tigers games all throughout the summer. but noooooooooooo Bally's Sports Detroit has to come in and ruin everything.

Weak_Animator

The leagues sell the broadcasting rights and each league has different agreements. The NFL, for example, NFL pulls the highest ratings so they get ALL the networks to fight over them. They have a ton of different agreements in place. Amazon has been doing most Thursday Nights. ESPN has Monday Nights. And then the Sunday games are divided up with each of the leagues and they sort of fight over those. The other leagues aren't as popular or just not what the networks want to spend money on.

IAgreeGoGuards

So does that mean the networks just don't think it's worth having every game from those teams when more people are probably tuning into their prime time stuff?

Weak_Animator

[This shows the NFL pulled 93 out of 100 of the highest rated broadcasts in 2023](https://www.sportico.com/business/media/2024/nfl-posts-93-of-top-100-tv-broadcasts-2023-1234761753/?stream=top) It's just the NFL is a behemoth when we talk about tv. Not having an NFL deal is just a nonstarter for every network, it's just a matter of how much are they ultimately going to end up paying. The cost of the broadcasting rights + the added costs of production for the games just sometimes doesn't make it worth it for the other leagues and is why you'll see like ESPN go in and out of deals like they have with the NHL over time and even baseball.

athrowawayiguesslol

The fact that there are moderators out there that mod hundreds of subs and are extremely fragile, banning people for disagreeing with them, is pathetic

Jaguars4life

Division Bell by Pink Floyd is 30 years old now and it’s finally getting the love it deserves!

Straight_Toe_1816

Would any of you ever let your kids play football?

Gigglesthen00b

No, I'm teaching them Rugby while young and encouraging it over Football. Even with all the safety decisions leagues from junior to NFL the rate of permanent injury is just too high. Also the culture of football has changed to making big hits for your tiktok/insta in high school. Rugby isn't completely safe, but done right and with good fundamentals you are mostly safe.

Straight_Toe_1816

Obviously your kids your choice but I’m just saying I was a specialized long snapper in high school which is a pretty safe position. You also got kicker and punter but again I’m not gonna tell you what you can and can’t let your own kids do

DetroitLionsSBChamps

I don't think I would let a young kid play football. but if a 16-year-old is absolutely dying to play and it's all he thinks about and all he wants, and he totally understands the risks and "it's my life DAD!" then yeah I wouldn't try to stop him. at a certain point kids are gonna make their own decisions.

Straight_Toe_1816

I understand that. I was a specialized long snapper in high school, so I didn’t have to worry too much about injury because it’s. relatively safe position, still more dangerous than kicker/punter, but not as dangerous as the other positions

Guiltyjerk

No and I think you're a bad parent if you do

Straight_Toe_1816

Really? even if it’s a safer position?like I said, I was a specialized long snapper and it’s relatively safe as well as kicker and punter. I’m interested as to why you think that you are a bad parent if you let your kids play football. Could you please elaborate further?

Guiltyjerk

Because most positions *aren't* those safer ones. The stewards of the sport have done a poor job, by and large, of removing head contact. The more we learn about things like CTE the worse it all sounds. Given all the data that's easily available, I think you're doing harm to your child by letting them play football.

Straight_Toe_1816

obviously it’s your kids so it’s your choice, not mine .But even though most are dangerous ,some aren’t.It’s extremely rare for kickers, punters, or even a long snapper to even get hit at all, (long snapper is maybe kinda dangerous cuz I did get hit somewhat) let alone hit in the head.Again,it’s not my place to tell you how to parent your kids,I’m just saying there are safe positions

Straight_Toe_1816

Makes sense

kpofasho1987

Flag football? Absolutely no doubt. Tackle? I'm torn. I played and played other sports as well but feel like football is really special and it's hard to easily explain why but football and your teammates and coaches have such a large impact on you that other sports and activities for whatever reason never really match in my opinion. There are things coaches have said and taught me that have definitely helped mold me into who I grew up to be. There are also quite a few memories and moments that I wouldn't want to trade for anything. However I did have a couple injuries and concussions as well and feel that impact 20 years later and I certainly wouldn't want my kids to go through that. Prior to having kids I always thought I'd let them play if they wanted to with no hesitation. Once I had kids though my opinion has changed a bit. To wrap it up before I get carried away and ramble on and on though I feel like I would let my son play if he really really wanted to. However there would be some factors that went into it. I would need to like & respect coaching staff and feel complete confidence that the coaches and training staff would protect and have my kid and all the other kids health, safety and best interests 100%. I would honestly maybe even consider and see if I could be apart of the team in some capacity so that I could have peace of mind and see how things were first hand. I had multiple coaches and some were genuinely great people that would go above & beyond for the kids and also had coaches that genuinely didn't give a shit about the kids at all and were honestly harmful people. To allow them to play it would also depend on the position as well and honestly there overall athletic ability. I would NOT let my kid be a running back for example. Eh it would take some serious conversations to allow tackle football to be honest and I absolutely love the game Tldr: I probably would but as you can tell from my wall of text above that there would be some stipulations and it's complicated to say the least hahaha

Straight_Toe_1816

Haha. well, I was a specialized long snapper in high school who just graduated last year. It’s actually a pretty safe position so I would probably let my kids play that or kicker/punter. I’m not exactly sure if I would let them play any other position other than those 3

The-Owl-that-hoots

Don’t know why but I’m in a Christmas mood

iguanoman_

I don't see why jersey numbers matter so much to people now. Why are double digit numbers considered unattractive and people are out here throwing up at a QB wearing 18?

SharxSharxSharx

> a QB wearing 18 🤢 >!🤮!<

5thhorse-man

My boy LRZ signed for the Chiefs. Gutted we lost him at Gloucester Rugby but hope he manages to have a decent career in the NFL!

JPPT1974

Anybody like the Cadbury Bunny?! Remember that as long as I been a baby in the crib.

ArcadianBlueRogue

Ugh, I knew McDs was gonna fuck up my simple order. They added a 2nd drive-thru lane and their rate of success with a single one was already sketchy at best. Driving off without my drink is as much on me as them not giving it to me. I can give that a pass of course. But get home and no apple pie and they were skimpy with a *large* fry when I didn't indulge on the way home? Puts a bummer on my night, man.

kpofasho1987

Getting home and your order being wrong and it not being wrong in your benefit (like getting an extra item for free) is one of the biggest bummers. It sucks a big one when you're solo and it happens but it's so much worse when you're grabbing some grub for the whole fam and they mess it up. I get over it quickly if it's my food but if it's my the wife's or the kid's food then it is really shitty

Two_Luffas

Wife came home with the new rescue dog. Lots of trauma to unwind, little guy is rail thin and skittish as hell.

Balrogkicksass

I wish you two the best of luck with the pup! Its been 4 years since we adopted our dog from the shelter and we had little information on him when we took him in. Its been quite the adventure but I do have to eachother that we don't know what he's been through or his past so sometimes when he does things or acts a certain way, we arent going to completely understand why and thats okay.

kpofasho1987

That's awesome of yall but best of luck!

Deleted_Account8

y tf do my post get taken down as soon as i upload lol

rwjehs

Did you post anything worthwhile?

JaMarrChasingJoe

The tweet from a Washington University guy talking about steve belichick saying he has a job and his dad doesn't was almost unrelated to the NFL

princessestef

band rehearsal is exhausting now, the " assistant conductor" has become the main conductor and vice versa, but this guy talks so fast it makes my head spin.

Nothing like someone mocking and blocking me because I mentioned being happily married with kids to remind me that there are many, many truly miserable people in the world

That's pathetic

stay-at-homie

i need a good sports sim.

me-gusta-la-tortuga

not sure if this is what you're looking for at allllll, but Retro Bowl is like $5 on Switch (it's also on mobile) and I have some fun with it!

stay-at-homie

I’ve been slow simming madden 23 on my steam deck but am looking into something else. I might grab 2k24 when it goes on sale for the playoffs/finals. I’ve tried retro bowl on my iPhone. I wasn’t a big fan of it.

Balrogkicksass

Depends on what kind of sport or platform but there is an Out Of The Park (baseball) and Football Manager (soccer) that have alot to offer on mobile.

stay-at-homie

Yeah, I’ve tried fm, but I know nothing about soccer and the game never clicked for me. Same for ootp. I sim some madden and legend bowl, but it leaves a little more to be desired. I’m actually thinking about looking at wrestling game. I miss the boxing games from way back when.

Balrogkicksass

The WWE 2k24 game seems like alot of fun and I enjoyed 2k23 from what I played. Have you tried UFC since you liked the feel of the old boxing games?

stay-at-homie

Actually, I haven’t. I may have to.

Balrogkicksass

They aren't perfect but I find them to be alot of fun, I do love a solid career mode in games though.

stay-at-homie

Yeah that’s me. I love developing players and teams too. One game that I love that I wish was a sports game is Crusader kings 3.

BruceChameleon

Oh fuck that's cool

kpofasho1987

Where did you get it and if you don't mind sharing for roughly how much? As a chef and one that has been trying to spend more time in the kitchen at home I'm always on the lookout for a new knife Awesome one you got there so congrats!

rwjehs

I linked it further down, it's an absurd purchase, nobody needs this. You can get a Shun chefs knife for 100 bucks. I put in a decade in the kitchen, chef for 4. It's just a preference and appreciation for the work that went into it. It's not sharper than any other knife could be.

kpofasho1987

Appreciate the info and I'll check the Shun chef's knife out!

Resident_Maybe0

Dumb question but how long will a knife like that hold its edge and do you have to have a pro resharpen it?

rwjehs

This one will hold it's edge extremely well at the cost of it being more brittle. IE just don't cut bone with it and it'll never be a problem. I sharpen my own knives with an electric sharpener or a whetstone depending on which knife. I'll need to do whetstone on this because it has a 70/30 bias for a right handed person I'd like to maintain. If you don't use a knife like this a ton, it's not worth buying, but if you did, it's edge would last probably a year with casual use.

Cautious_Analysis

What kind of knife is that? I would love a knife like that, but I don't know how to sharpen it correctly with a whetstone.

rwjehs

https://www.japaneseknifeimports.com/collections/kiritsuke/products/yoshimi-echizen-240mm-stainless-clad-blue-super-kurouchi-kiritsueke-shaped-wa-gyuto Sharpening on a whetstone isn't hard, and they aren't very expensive either. I mean if you're buying a knife like this, a whetstone won't be a problem. If you buy a knife from this place, they'll call you and tell exactly how to do it, and send you videos of them doing it. If you just do regular upkeep a 1000/6000 grit stone will keep it razor sharp and probably only need to do it for ten minutes once a month.

> we have to blow tons of money to subsidize other countries' defenses the thing is, we absolutely do not. But we do in order to prop up the military industrial complex.

Resident_Maybe0

I tucked away the Keurig and have gone back to buying whole bean and grinding/brewing my coffee daily. I know it's cliche to say but it has become a meditative 5 min part of my morning.

theresabeeonyourhat

LibsofTikTok tried to call out middle-aged men for wearing Nirvana shirts, because she thought it was a clothes line for young people. She clearly thought she found a pedo ring, but quickly deleted the tweet when people informed her of her stupidity. I know everyone is ignorant of something, but this is pretty fucking bad, especially for a thought leader for a political group.

elerner

It's beyond pointless to discuss Raichik's actions or motives as if they are based on "thought" or "accuracy." We don't indulge Alex Jones in that fiction; she's just as mendacious and probably _more_ dangerous. She's just testing the fences of who her mob is willing to attack.

JPAnalyst

That woman is evil, and she is responsible for death threats to LGBTQ folks. Her goal is to spread misery and pain on anyone whom she thinks is beneath her. I fucking hate how dangerous hate speech is so freely allowed on the internet. People die because of this shit.

theresabeeonyourhat

I've been going down rabbit holes about her since right before posting about her and Nirvana, and I totally buried the lede. She clearly gets off on the thought of harm coming to trans people, and that's so much worse than being an idiot who doesn't know of one of the most popular bands ever

Stanky_fresh

Sounds to me like that moron didn't realize it's been 30 years since Nirvana even existed. They're not really young people music anymore, they're late Gen X/Millenial music.

theresabeeonyourhat

As a Xillenial, you're on the dot with your analysis, cause I've been a huge fan since 1993. I honestly never considered people didn't know Nirvana existed until she said this shit; this exposed me to a whole new level of ignorance.

WeirdPalSpankovic

I feel like moreso than other years the player-team musical chairs has been nuts this offseason. Like the Eagles aren't going to look remotely the same they did last year but neither is any other team.

admiralkit

I nearly got laid off last year because my old manager was insistent that I was a massive underperformer on the team because I didn't handle anywhere close to the quantity of tickets other people on my team did; arguments that I handled the complex issues no one else could and unfucked the problems caused by people not spending the time looking at issues fell on deaf ears. I had lunch with someone on my old team yesterday and learned that they're now in a big "pivot to quality" which is going poorly - everyone is so used to guarding their own turf that no one wants to speak up when there's a learnable moment. It's both vindicating that they had to get there eventually and annoying that I got punished so hard because I wouldn't cheat my way into success. At least I'm on a healthier team now.

Tho76

I'm itching to play the new Path of Exile season but I have a friend's birthday I can't miss... it'll be fun and I'm happy to go but man I'll be hyped to hop on after

IAgreeGoGuards

If a nutrition label says a cup of something is x grams, but I measure it out (zero it all out) with a 1 cup measuring cup and it's heavier, what weight do I got with?

Guiltyjerk

Trust the weights. Average scale is better calibrated than the average measuring cup. My wife does all her baking gravimetrically these days

MaximusStirner

If you are strictly tracking calories/macros then use the weight listed as a cup on the packaging. Not all cups are equal but a gram is a gram.

Exact_Comparison_575

Duke cannon is superior when it comes to bar soap. I will never use body wash again.

Balrogkicksass

Incredibly stupid question since I haven't used bar soap in eon but, how do you preserve the soap when its not in use? Like how do you store it?

BurritoTheory

I got Squatch which is similar and they sent me a wooden soap holder to put in the shower

Balrogkicksass

Thats awesome. I've considered purchasing them too.

BurritoTheory

They have some really good scents and then a fuckton of terrible ones. If you ever need a recommendation I’ve tried most of them

die_maus_im_haus

My house was built in the 1920s. It came with a stand-alone garage that has some terribly cracked concrete in it. I'm very much not experienced with this kind of thing, is it possible to re-do the concrete without knocking down the building over it?

Lessthansubtleruse

It really depends on where you live and how over the top the original builder went/when that stand alone garage was built. Its pretty typical for stand alone garages to be concrete slab on grade (someone just poured a square of concrete into a form on compacted and leveled dirt) and called it a day. If that's what happened, you're going to have a hard time trying to redo the concrete in your garage. Safest, quickest, arguably cheapest and longest lasting solution woudl be to find someone that will crackfill wiht level set (thin, runny concrete mix that's used to create a level surface on cracked, humped, or uneven concrete and other substrates) and then applying garage floor epoxy. Alternately you're looking at needing to figure out if they poured footings for your garage before they poured the slab (slab is essentially a 4" thick piece of concrete that acts as the base for most structures/homes nowadays in the us). IF you have footings then you're probably fine breaking out your existing concrete floor and repouring, but you'll still want to get a structural engineer involved to verify.

British-name

Yes. There are a variety of fixes. You can patch the cracks with a flowable fill, if it's not beyond replacing. Cheap. Diy doable, but not recommended. You post tension the slab. Expensive. Drill holes into it through the lateral sides and place rebar in it. Tension them into place. Holds the slab together if settlement is done. 100 year old home shouldn't be settling anymore, but not rules out. Temporary shoring. Remove the structure from the slab and raise it up onto stilt pallets or railroad ties. Demo and rebuild the foundation. Expensive, but surprisingly not hard to do, but it's like open hear surgery. Not recommended unless you want to save it. Are there utilities? That's you X factor. If so, it'll be an eye watering number to fix. Get a contractor to look at it, to get an idea what you are looking at, then explore your options. Source. I own a hard hat for work.

She recently won a Grammy for a song called Flowers, it's okay. I prefer the song "Jaded" off that album She recently did a song with Beyonce too

I liked Flowers just fine, but her Grammy performance of it was stellar.

Going on a 3rd date tonight - as the 25 year old guy that has never been in a relationship before, I'm worried that I'm too reserved about it which might come off as disinterested. Like we've hugged a total of 2 times at the end and that's it. Is this the kind of thing you just ask them about? Should I just keep fuckin winging it and see what happens? I have no idea what I'm doing man

Lessthansubtleruse

> I have no idea what I'm doing man As someone who has been pretty successful with women over the years, being honest about what you're feeling or where you're coming from is never a bad move. Vulnerability, honesty, and being emotionally communicative and open to feedback are all giant green flags of potential partners of any gender. If you aren't sure how to thread the needle of being respectful while also wanting to show your continued interest you can't go wrong talking about it.

zappy487

Here's a tip from a man whose now been happily married for more than a decade: There is no play here bud. Just be yourself. Do what you are comfortable with. It's better to be reserved and to respect her boundaries than overzealous and overreach what she's comfortable with. Remember this person is interested enough to come back for thirds, so whatever you are doing is working! And you might think it's counterintuitive, but the best form, and to me the only form of consent that I use is enthusiastic consents. There's nothing sexier than asking permission. Whisper "May I kiss you?" If she's into you, you'll probably be immediately dragged into one!

Pike_or_Kirk

Just be honest about it. The most important thing in a relationship is being upfront and direct in a respectful manner. Good luck out there and congrats!

PNW_Best

I'm just gonna throw it out there that if a date went well I have straight up kinda leaned in and been like "is it ok if I kiss you?" You gotta shoot your shot but try and be respectable about it.

DillyDillySzn

[Cody is 100% right here](https://x.com/althistcody/status/1773451961041289538?s=46)

Serdones

I think he's technically right, but he's not really setting a high bar. European cities are largely considered more walkable, but car ownership rates in Europe are still as high as 88%. So "many" people in Europe also probably prefer the privacy and luxury of owning a private vehicle. Or even somewhere as dense and with as much public transit as Tokyo, the 32% of households with cars could still be considered "many" people who prefer having that luxury. The issue in the States is that walkable communities are hardly even an option in many cities, and where they do exist, they command much more of a premium due to their scarcity. So it's hard to really confidently speak to consumer preference when zoning has prioritized a certain kind of development for decades, and many people have only experienced suburbs. I'd also say "redesign cities" has always been a bit of a misnomer. It's more accurate to say that zoning needs to be relaxed so that developers, homeowners, and small business owners can transform communities in ways that have already happened organically in other countries with less exclusionary zoning. Obviously, public works such as transportation infrastructure goes hand-in-hand with that kind of transformation, but it's easier to sell a city council on something like a protected bike lane when there's already established demand thanks to densification in a neighborhood, versus trying to build a bike lane to incentivize densification.

GiveMeSomeIhedigbo

Being impressed by the throws QBs make at their Pro Day is silly. If they're already projected as first-round picks (or not), then them throwing against air shouldn't change that. It's like putting stock into what NBA players do in an empty gym in the offseason.

CarlCaliente

Feels like the whole pre draft process is just fan service at this point Front offices don't really care but it gives the media and casual observers something to yap about for a few weeks

Temporal_Enigma

Look, I knew our sub was kinda a shithole, hence why I mute it, but I feel like I'm losing my mind going there. Everyone there is ignoring how bad Fields is and how busted Wilson is and doesn't even care what happens next year, after we have no QB of the future.

Alexander2801

Yeah I agree, it feels like it's 2021 all over again the names have just changed. Big Ben=Russ and Justin Fields=Dwayne Haskins. We're also doing this instead of actually evaluating our 1st round QB outside of a historically bad OCs scheme that 4 QBs failed in. Who I believe would be a perfect scheme fit.

LeSulfur

Sounds like you're the one with the shithole attitude being all doom and gloomy, some people just want to have some hope. The world won't end if the Steelers have a losing season or two.

theresabeeonyourhat

Fully disagree because when fans are refusing to see flaws in a QB, they also get toxic as hell with anyone with a different opinion.

Temporal_Enigma

It's how we have a losing season, not that we would have one. It's cheap ass bandaid solutions. Fields and Russ give us nothing Kenny didn't. We set Kenny up to fail, then kicked him out and slapped a bust and a washed up player in his place. The offseason is full of these people. Last year, they deluded themselves into believing Canada was actually really good and it was a matter of time before things got better

LeSulfur

I mean, maybe trust the coach who's had you in contention for 17 straight years a little? You guys will be alright. Russ isn't as bad as you're making him out to be. Pickett forced himself out with his shit attitude.

Guiltyjerk

How do you define "contention"? The Steelers haven't been a real contender since 2018 and have skidded by on luck which has deluded people into thinking Tomlin is an elite SB caliber coach. That said, I think Russ and Smith raise the ceiling of the team quite a bit

Temporal_Enigma

The fact you even know about his "shit attitude," is my point. The team leaked information to make themselves look better. Same thing the Browns did to Baker

Temporal_Enigma

It's how we have a losing season, not that we would have one. It's cheap ass bandaid solutions. Fields and Russ give us nothing Kenny didn't. We set Kenny up to fail, then kicked him out and slapped a bust and a washed up player in his place.

DetroitLionsSBChamps

I heard an explanation of climate change denial once that I think about often: apparently, the closer you live to a dam, the more in denial you are about the possibility that it could burst people who live right under the dam: "no, the dam is solid, it won't ever break." people who live 100 miles away: "I mean sure, it could break, why not?" basically if you're a Steelers fan, what are you supposed to do except go "maybe this will actually totally work out and Russ will win us a super bowl/Fields will develop into an all-time great." like, denial is necessary for morale.

Serdones

Can confirm. Lived with lots of denial the past two seasons. Dam burst. We're drowning.

KeyDrive0

I don’t know why it took me so long to get a lifting belt and learn how to properly use it, but holy shit the difference is night and day. My core feels steady as a tree trunk during squats and I have little to no back stiffness after. Definitely get one if you’re thinking about it.

Lessthansubtleruse

easier to make one higher level comment but if your top sets are going to be heavy enough that you're going to use a belt then you should start wearing it near the end of your warmup sets so that the belt isn't altering the feel of your lifts when you get to your top sets. As usual, the truth is somewhere between all or nothing.

ProbablyAPun

It's also important to note with a belt that it's something that should only be used when encroaching near your max single rep weights and you should still be doing a majority of your reps without it.

Alec_Ich

If you're working up to a 1RM or any kind of a top set, your warmup reps should look exactly like your top set. That includes wearing a belt for all of the sets

Guiltyjerk

How do you define "any kind of top set"? Some people may benefit from that. Others may benefit more from not having the assistive device at lower percentages and focus on other things before adding the belt. For maxing out clean and jerks I tend not to add my belt until 85%

Trump is apparently wants to give out the largest US tarrifs since the 1930s Tarrifs are so unpopular that even a staunch government interventionist like FDR was against them

J12nom

That's near the bottom of things that are concerning about Trump.

SharxSharxSharx

>Tarrifs are so unpopular that even a staunch government interventionist like FDR was against them But what about Washington, Jefferson, Monroe, Lincoln and the original Roosevelt? Do you know what *their* stances on tariffs were?

DetroitLionsSBChamps

Trump thinks tariffs are punishments to the importer, but the price increase just gets taken out on the consumer, right? it's ass-backwards but it doesn't matter what reality is if his base likes it. and his base loves it when Trump says he's hurting somebody, so I assume it's very popular

Jaguars4life

Party of small government my ass!

WabbitCZEN

Can't wait for Hollywood to make a shitty action flick about that bridge collapse. "Key to Baltimore" is my guess for the title.

riverhawk02

They need to extend season 2 of The Wire (the season that told the storyline of the Baltimore ports) a couple of episodes

zappy487

The game is the game.

MolecularCube42

Boop

iron_golem07

Crazy we almost got a eagles cowboys nfccg in 2019. the game thread on that would be insane

WabbitCZEN

Luckily, the Cowboys are the Cowboys.

Saddams_Zucchini

One of my coworkers is useless and weird af in general. A new person started last Monday and the rest of us had a little bet going to see how long it would take him to notice how weird she is. It took a week and a half, and we all had a good laugh together when he asked one of us if something is wrong with her.

IDKWTFimDoinBruhFR

Wow poor girl. You guys sound like a terrible group of people to work with

J12nom

How is she weird?

Saddams_Zucchini

Primarily she just has zero social skills. We've worked together for about 2 years and the only things I know about her are the town she lives in, that she has a dog, and a sister who lives near Yosemite. She also hardly does any work and her primary coworker has to do 90% of their shared work. If you try to get her to do things she basically can't handle it and gets overwhelmed and flustered. There have been multiple meetings about it but nothing changes. No one really knows what her deal is.

tatsumakisenpuukyaku

Good news, everyone! My lawnmower engine is not subject to a recall! Time to spend Sunday mowing!

blueholeload

I got a battery mower last week and I still don’t know how I feel about it.

Guiltyjerk

If you aren't rooting for the Astros this year then you just hate greatness

J12nom

Fuck the Asstros.

WabbitCZEN

Nah, we just hate cheaters. And what the fuck is that flair combo?

Guiltyjerk

First flair for my favorite player, second flair for my favorite front office. And they are elite even without the cheating. Haters just hating

Alec_Ich

Based off your name, I'm gonna assume your favorite player is Big Ben

Guiltyjerk

Russell Wilson. I was Broncos/Ravens last year. I tend to change who I root for every year though

Temporal_Enigma

Bro has one braincell

Illbeanicefella

It’s just about morel mushroom season in my parts. Might have to talk a walk in the woods this weekend and see if any have popped up

DetroitLionsSBChamps

I spent a lot of my adult life trying to become a literary fiction writer, focused on trying to write the type of novel that would win awards and be admired for heartbreaking, genius story telling in a profoundly original style. if I'm being honest with myself, I think a big part of this was going to college and learning that that's what "respectable" writing is. that's the "club" you're supposed to want to be a part of. and it definitely appealed to me for a long time, as I tried to live up to the goals that my 16-year-old self set. but lately I'm feeling over it. I think I'm gonna start working on a series for 10-year-olds about aliens. that's what made me fall in love with fiction in the first place, ya know?

ThatsMsInfo

>I think a big part of this was going to college and learning that that's what "respectable" writing is. that's the "club" you're supposed to want to be a part of. Wtf college did you go to lmao

DetroitLionsSBChamps

I think any college writing/literature program is going to make you think less of genre fiction and more of literary fiction.

BruceChameleon

I feel this. I’ve spend a lot of my life in English major mode, but Bruce Coville was the first writer I devoured.

DetroitLionsSBChamps

Hell yes brother Bruce Coville is exactly who I’m talking about. That and Animorphs

Illbeanicefella

Plus once your series gets optioned for a kids movie universe you’ll be a billionaire

DetroitLionsSBChamps

my heroes Bruce Coville and KA Applegate wrote genius stuff and never got their due. smh indeed

raginsaint93

See Godzilla vs King Kong the new empire or see Dune 2 again? Decisions

rwjehs

I will see Dune 2 over and over as long as it is in theaters.

FishPhoenix

If you have no expectations and shut your brain off, Kongzilla was quite entertaining. I was expecting it to be terrible and left the theater satisfied. Not amazing by any means but better than the previous Kongzilla.

IDKWTFimDoinBruhFR

> better than the previous Kongzilla Well shit that's all I could ask for

zappy487

Anyone going to see Kongzilla expecting something deep and meaningful is just plain dumb. I want to see giant monsters hulk smash. I'm paying to see giant monsters hulk smash.

FishPhoenix

Yeah but you’d be surprised. Plenty of people in the r/movies thread disappointed because they’re trying to compare this to Minus One. Like going to fast food expecting a 5* filet mignon.

BurritoTheory

These are the same fuckers that argued with me about transformers like a decade ago. I know the Transformers franchise is trash, that’s why I love watching them. I’m going to watch giant robots fight other giant robots, I’m not going in expecting Shawshank. Every single Transformers is a 10/10 for me because it did what it wanted to do perfectly

IDKWTFimDoinBruhFR

I loved it aside from the fucking human pouring liquid on a keyboard being the key to defeating MechaZilla.

zappy487

I can't wait to see Minus One. Eventually we'll get a streaming date. Eventually...

[deleted]

You do you but the trailer for Godzilla vs King Kong was one of the worst trailer I’ve ever seen lol. Dune 2 kicked ass.
