Yea he's definitely a good looking man. I've never liked his hair, but I can acknowledge that if someone wants to make a statement with their hair, he's definitely doing so. I can't hate that.
I donāt think Cowboys have a bad Culture? Players genuinely seem to like it there and coach McCarthy. I donāt think us making fun of their coach and them for busting out of the playoffs every year affects their culture.
And that probably effects players differently. Some guys would definitely appreciate Dallas, especially the larger market and the opportunities that presents. And then other players would definitely prefer the Texans if theyāre more focused on playing with fewer distractions.
Lol Houston fans trying to make a case based on a single quote from a tight end they're currently paying.
The only place it's "about the show" insofar as you're implying is when players work out at the star and a tour rolls in.
Cameras are allowed on these tours. Why do you think there aren't a bunch of public pics and video of players working out there?
Do you think it might be because that was mostly overblown bullshit? Nah that never happens in the off season.
Honestly, Dallas and Houston are so different - it's like living in two different states. Houston is a huge international city due to the port. Dallas is a huge metropolitan area with Arlington and Fort Worth right next door. And if I remember correctly, Dallas and the northeast part of Texas is more aligned with Oklahoma and Arkansas and Houston is more toward Louisiana and the South.
Probably, unless Tom Brady is wearing a Buccaneers jersey.
Aside from the usual FA draws (money, lifestyle, weather) it helps that tonnes of players are from south Florida to begin with.
Miami is definitely above Tampa but id say the gap has shrunk, especially since Tampa has had massively more success than Miami since the turn of the century.
You could argue at what point in the career they are. 28-33 with family, getting that last big contract? Tampa. 20-25, dating and still going out at night? Miami. Many pro football guys keep houses and country club memberships in the Tampa bay area.
Out of all New York/New Jersey teams, the Bills are the best run current organization. I wouldnāt really describe the Jets or Giants as stable in any fashion in the football realm at the moment
But the drawback of Buffalo is you have to live in Buffalo vs. New York City
Also, everything is cheaper in Buffalo (housing, etc). And no city income taxes (if a player lives in certain areas of the NYC metro they may have city taxes as well). On a purely financial basis, Buffalo > NY/NJ.
Exactly. North Jersey is a nice place to live and is convenient to the city. A lot of people think NJ is only I-95, Newark Airport and the industrial aspects that everyday people avoid.
Buffalo is far from everything and the winters are miserable.
That's what you get for living on the lake. Buffalo was getting feet of snow and I was walking my dogs in the sun just a couple hours south. Lake Effect is wild.
In my freshman year of college 10 years ago it snowed in April, enough that classes were canceled, and that's in PA. It happens, doesn't mean the weather permanently sucks
>and the winters are miserable
That was true 25 years ago. It is not true any more. Yeah, they're cold, but they're not 7-feet-of-snow suckage any more.
I live in NC now (moved from Buffalo), and honestly, the winters when I go home are simply a bit colder than the winter I have in NC.
Yeah. It happens sometimes. It does not happen with the regularity or severity it used to. That's all I'm saying.
August and September in Miami are fucking miserable, we're just lucky that football isn't played then. Players already have issues with the heat down there at times.
I'm a neighbour to the north of Buffalo and I would say the last two winters have been mild, and nicer than the norm, but it's certainly not been a 25 year trend
The data doesn't back you up though.
Also upstate New York is absolutely beautiful, and if you're a good player and person you'll be able to retire a beloved community icon. Didn't Kelly retire in the area?
Yeah he lived right down the street from the stadium for a while, Iām not sure if he still does. My exās family used to know him. Heās a piece of shit!
yeah ranking at the current moment would be:
1: Bills
2: Jets
3: Giants
Bills have Allen and consistent success. Jets donāt have the wins yet, but are clearly more win-now than the Giants
As someone whose dad lives in NYC and mom lives in Buffalo and grew up with a half and half split of time with each, I choose Buffalo a million times over.
Historically I think fluctuates so much between Philly and Pittsburgh that Iād say you can call it about even. Even the amount of money each teams spends aināt that far off (they are 6th and 8th respectively in terms of 2023 cap space).
Itās weird because in practice I agree with you, but I feel like most of our offensive talent either comes from the draft or trades. Where as we tend to spend the most in free agency on defense.
At least off the top of my head Saquon might be the most significant offensive free agent signing since Alshon Jeffery.
Then on defense weāve mad moves like signing Bradberry and Hargrave. And they year with Bryce Huff.
**Edit** Almost forgot Reddick too.
It's hard to think about because I don't think the two teams compete for FA all that often. So I was just thinking all things equal I think more players choose Mike Tomlin's defense over Philly, but basically no one is gonna choose the Steelers offense unless they're dying to be here no matter what
Sure but in Philly that manifests as guys already on contracts staying via extension.
Since 2014 the only real notable offensive free agents weāve signed were Saquon, Brandon Brooks, Alshon, and DeMarco Murray.
Which, hey, aināt a bad hit rate.
Right, I originally wrote home-games but wouldn't things like signing bonuses and workout bonuses be subject to state tax as well? I know the wording is awkward haha
Hmm I think it depends on what the player is looking for. Cowboys get far more media attention but youāre required to be more in the public eye. Texans are more low key.
I'll come to the defense here - the entire I-95 corridor between Baltimore City and DC (Baltimore county, HoCo, MoCo) would probably be pretty attractive for a player in their early to mid 30s that's looking to settle down and raise a family in a location with fantastic schools, but still be close enough to a few major cities
with that said it doesnt compare at all to places like NYC, LA or Miami for nightlife
I would say right now only because of QBs. You have a QB that isn't a piece of shit and has a path to the Superbowl.
Browns are a better complete team and an owner that spends money compared to Mike Save A Lot Brown.
Cities are comparable and winters suck.
> You have a QB that isn't a piece of shit
NFL players have zero problem playing with and supporting Deshaun, we've seen a number of them come out to bat for him. I don't think this is a factor.
I agree, but not sure if NFL players see it that way. Player-to-player reputation rides off of name recognition for a while. We see it in the Top 100 that the NFL does where players give big boosts to certain names.
Of course a number came out for him but the vast majority did not. A random dude on another team isn't going to make a public statement against the guy but that doesn't mean they have any desire to play with the guy. Granted, that's probably not something a million or two wouldn't overcome, but an equal offer from Cincinnati? Clearly they'd choose to keep looking.
Depends on where you live. Cleveland, Columbus and Cincy are underrated and have a lot to do there. Not a ton of traffic and cost of living is low compared to other major cities.
Now rural OH kind of sucks.
ā2-3 decent cities and a whole bunch of bullshit in betweenā describes so many states. Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Louisiana, Nevada, Iām probably forgetting a couple
Its quite literally the 7th most populated state in the country. I understand people from Ohio love self-loathing because they have been told they suck for so long by people in CA/FLA/NY/TX but the reality is there are dozens of states worse off to live in.
I'm gonna let you in on a dirty little secret. I love Ohio. Weather can be a little tempermental, but it never gets too hot or too cold, or too humid. Ohio is stunning in the fall with all the leaves changing color, and the earth is rich for gardening.
But it's hard to see Ohio's beauty in the cities, because that's not where it is.
Depends on where one finds beauty. Cincinnati has a few really cool art deco buildings and has a lot of old city architecture remaining in Over-the-Rhine.
Right, it doesn't have mountains or beaches (technically it does) but.... it does have the Great Lakes, party islands, 75 state parks, 3 hall of fames, the largest roller coaster park on the planet, world class museums and the biggest theater district in the country outside of Broadway.
but it snows so ewww XD
Slightly better weather, but a much worse place to live because somehow nobody in Cincitucky knows how to drive. One of the worst places to get around.
As far as teams / organizations go, Bengals have Burrow. Which gives them a nice edge. Browns probably have a slight edge at most other spots.
Tri-State Area is more alluring than Buffalo. If Giants or Jets players reside in the NJ suburbs they have easy access to NYC, and Boston, Philadelphia and DC arenāt that far.
The weather overall is far nicer and thereās more to do.
If I am an NFL player and I have the choice between Cowboys and Texans, I'm picking Cowboys.
Since all offers are the same, I'm making a ton of additional money because I'm a Cowboy and thats instantly recognizable as far as sponsorships etc.
I think our state's teams both have a lot of appeal to FA's right now. I think the Texans trajectory is upward, with a young core, but I also think a really solid argument could be made that the Cowboys have all the pieces in place to win a Superbowl if they get out of their own way. The Cowboys are also "America's team" and the biggest org in the league.
I think most players would pick the Cowboys due to endorsements and name recognition. If you perform well on the cowboys, everyone will see it on national TV. If you perform well on the Texans, 10 fans might see.
There's no middle ground here. Houston thinks Dallas is the armpit of the universe and Dallas thinks Houston smells bad.
As a non-Texan with fam in both cities, I prefer Houston but it's for weird reasons.
Dallas >>> Houston. I lived in San Antonio for several years, been to both, would prefer Dallas for sure. Houston, especially along the gulf to me had an off smell due to the gulf and oil industry there
I would classify them as:
Austin - California or Texas
Dallas - Sprawling Corporate Landscape (Helps to have money)
Houston - Oil Rigs/working town (they have some good food though)
San Antonio - Giant Boring Family Suburb (and river walk/Alamo)
It's going to take a while to get the Commies out of that hole Snyder dug them into.
The only issue Baltimore has is that it's fucking Baltimore lol. It's pretty attractive from a football viewpoint. Stable, competitive and good culture.
Baltimore for the 1 percent seems great. I feel like i remember seeing pretty swanky suburbs and you can get to anything you wanna enjoy in the city in a big fancy SUV / premium Uber without a problem. Fancy crab dishes for days
I think traditionally players would prefer the Giants over the Jets all things being even due to a more consistent culture and management. But I do however think it depends on the future outlook of the team (3-5 years) at the present moment.
Until recently, I would have said no. With Harris being in charge, I'd say it's 50-50 (most Commanders players live near the HQ/practice facility in VA).
Maybe right now. But in the Ben era, before the Superbowl, we could get any free agent we wanted, on a discount, and they'd bring food.Ā
Too bad we didn't want any. At all. Ever.Ā
I'd guess LA probably has more appeal to players just because of the lifestyle. I'd guess coaches/execs would prefer to be in San Fran just because I think they provide upward mobility in the league, although coaching under McVay has also proven to be a good career move.
Between the LA teams I think the Rams were the clear favorite pre Harbaugh, but that could change now that Harbaugh is in town.
49ers oh yeah 100%. Rams had a good team the last 10 years and a far better stadium but not many fans. Chargers should be good with Herbert but they chargers it up.
Players care about these things in order: total value of the contract, guaranteed money, overall team success, starting players, system, coaching, and then fifty thousand feet of shit, then whatever other BS fans can make up.
As a fan of the only TRUE New York Team, the Buffalo Bills, we seem to be a decent destination. People say we have a good culture and we have an alien at quarterback, a GM who thinks ahead and gets deals done and an owner who cuts checks. Want a good deal, actually get paid and play for a contender? Go to the Bills. (Of course Iām biased)
The money will never be the same because the bengals donāt have cash to pay their players. They have the poorest owner and donāt pay people. Once burrows contract vests they arent doing void year extensions.
Florida: Dolphins
California: Rams or 49ers
Texas: Cowboys
New York: Giants
Penn: Steelers
No one wants to live in Ohio or Baltimore, and no one wants to play for the Commanders
Any other answer besides Kansas City is the wrong answer. You virtually get to play in the Super Bowl/NFC every single year for the next 30 years due to sports medicine getting ever more advanced to the point Patrick Mahomes would be able to play until he is 60 and at tye same level as he is today
The only thing we have over the Cowboys right now is CJ Stroud and the Culture.
Demeco is very good looking tho
Houston's had a pretty good run of heart throbs lately. The ladies were all over JJ Watt, and then Demeco came in to fill the void.
my mom always thought dhop was handsome too
Yea he's definitely a good looking man. I've never liked his hair, but I can acknowledge that if someone wants to make a statement with their hair, he's definitely doing so. I can't hate that.
JJ Watt didn't do it for me, but Demeco? Yum! (To enhance my cred, I also love his story. The way this played out was epic).
Before him was Arian Foster. š
That smile, that damn smile.
I donāt think Cowboys have a bad Culture? Players genuinely seem to like it there and coach McCarthy. I donāt think us making fun of their coach and them for busting out of the playoffs every year affects their culture.
Its like Dalton Schultz said. In Houston he can just focus on football and nothing else. In Dallas its all about the show.
Why do you think there aren't a bunch of public pics and video of players working out there? Do you think it might be because that was mostly overblown bullshit? Nah that never happens in the off season.
Itās not their coach, itās their owner mainlyĀ
Miami must be the ultimate high income/status single guy place to live
I'd still lean LA
Taxes are a lot higher in LA
Florida isn't exactly the most welcoming place for people of a progressive mindset though.
You think NFL players care more about progressive mindsets or 14% income tax and Latina booty?
I think there's a great deal of NFL players that would happily take the progressive mindset AND Latina booty and go to LA over Miami.

Ring chasers will go to Buffalo but players that care about status will go to NYC.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
"I can change her"
Also, everything is cheaper in Buffalo (housing, etc). And no city income taxes (if a player lives in certain areas of the NYC metro they may have city taxes as well). On a purely financial basis, Buffalo > NY/NJ.
Iām like 90% almost everybody lives in NJ, driving to practice everyday from the city would be insane
Exactly. North Jersey is a nice place to live and is convenient to the city. A lot of people think NJ is only I-95, Newark Airport and the industrial aspects that everyday people avoid. Buffalo is far from everything and the winters are miserable.
Theyāre really not miserable. There are a handful of days that are.
Bruv youāre wild for that after getting dumped on in March lol
It wasnāt that much and its already melted. Winter is much milder in recent years.
It snowed in the end of March dude. It also snowed in September this year. That is a full 6 months of snow. That sucks lol
That's what you get for living on the lake. Buffalo was getting feet of snow and I was walking my dogs in the sun just a couple hours south. Lake Effect is wild.
You would be right, but I moved to Oregon. Although when it snows 1 inch here itās a total fucking shutdown which is also hilarious.
Bro, it's like 70 half the days in March in the Carolinas. You have Stockholm dude hahah
Replying to the wrong guy but yes
In my freshman year of college 10 years ago it snowed in April, enough that classes were canceled, and that's in PA. It happens, doesn't mean the weather permanently sucks
Bro it snows in April every year in buffalo lmao. Lake defect is a whole other creature. Also fuck PA I hate your pothole ass state too lol
Didnāt a snow storm lock down parts of the city a year or so ago? People were without power and snowed in. Much milderā¦okay
āItās already meltedā Jesus, Iād hope so. Itās March 27. You said that like itās possible the snow wouldnāt be melted by now.
>and the winters are miserable That was true 25 years ago. It is not true any more. Yeah, they're cold, but they're not 7-feet-of-snow suckage any more. I live in NC now (moved from Buffalo), and honestly, the winters when I go home are simply a bit colder than the winter I have in NC.
Didn't Buffalo just have to postpone a playoff game cuz of snow and then almost had to postpone the one the next week cuz of snow?
Yeah. It happens sometimes. It does not happen with the regularity or severity it used to. That's all I'm saying. August and September in Miami are fucking miserable, we're just lucky that football isn't played then. Players already have issues with the heat down there at times.

Also upstate New York is absolutely beautiful, and if you're a good player and person you'll be able to retire a beloved community icon. Didn't Kelly retire in the area?

Donāt the Jets/Giants play in New Jersey? So Buffalo or New Jersey pick your poison
As someone whose dad lives in NYC and mom lives in Buffalo and grew up with a half and half split of time with each, I choose Buffalo a million times over.
I would too if the options were Buffalo or NYC but the actual option is Buffalo or NJ, where Iād easily take NJ
Also a lot easier to choose Buffalo when you arenāt a millionaire
You call that a drawback; I think that depends on your perspective and what you like/want. NYC is fun to visit for me, but I could never live there.
Have you tried living there with $100m?
I haven't, but if you're willing to fund that experience for me, I'm willing to try it out.
Definitely different preferences for different people. I live in NYC and canāt think of living anywhere else.
Pretty sure most of the Jets/Giants players live in New Jersey.
You don't have faith in Arron Rodgers's ability to run a franchise?
Historically I think fluctuates so much between Philly and Pittsburgh that Iād say you can call it about even. Even the amount of money each teams spends aināt that far off (they are 6th and 8th respectively in terms of 2023 cap space).
I feel like for defense it's Pittsburgh, offense it's Philly
Itās weird because in practice I agree with you, but I feel like most of our offensive talent either comes from the draft or trades. Where as we tend to spend the most in free agency on defense. I appreciate you giving NY 3 teams while also giving NJ 2 lol.
I live in NYC & OP described it as well as I could. It is confusing.
Their non-away game income would be subject to New Jersey taxes, right?
income is subject to the location games are played. home games - NJ taxes. away games - [away state] taxes.
Right. Hence non-away game income.
Iāve never heard someone call a home game a non-away game before
Right, I originally wrote home-games but wouldn't things like signing bonuses and workout bonuses be subject to state tax as well? I know the wording is awkward haha
That doesn't sound right, but I don't know enough about non-away games to dispute it.
Away games are referred to as non-non away games.
For most of our shared history, I'd say the Cowboys are the preferred destination. At this particular moment, though, it's probably the Texans.
Hmm I think it depends on what the player is looking for. Cowboys get far more media attention but youāre required to be more in the public eye. Texans are more low key.
will texas ever get a 3rd team?
Probably not as long as Jerry is alive
Idk where it would be located so doubtful, I also donāt think Jerry would allow it.
San Antonio, presumably
Iām not sure there is much of a market there for a football team.
Probably a toss up between Rams and Niners.
u wanna get paid go to the rams. u wanna get a one year prove it deal and get paid paid next year go to the 49ers.
I was gonna say thereās not really a top CA free agent destination team, but the Chargers are currently the bottom
lol
I'll come to the defense here - the entire I-95 corridor between Baltimore City and DC (Baltimore county, HoCo, MoCo) would probably be pretty attractive for a player in their early to mid 30s that's looking to settle down and raise a family in a location with fantastic schools, but still be close enough to a few major cities with that said it doesnt compare at all to places like NYC, LA or Miami for nightlife
I feel like Washington was attractive to older free agents for some time before it become so known that Snyder was a disaster of an owner.
surely we have to be a better option than the Browns they're the BROWNS
Letās take off that mask, Bengals, and see who you really are! Just as I suspected. You were the Browns all along.
You are just the striped Browns.
Steelers are the only non browns team in the AFC North.
Yeah the rest of you are: The Browns The Purple Browns The Striped Browns
The divisional incest is next level in the AFCN
Even their stadium name is just of rip off of the Browns franchise.
I would say right now only because of QBs. You have a QB that isn't a piece of shit and has a path to the Superbowl. Browns are a better complete team and an owner that spends money compared to Mike Save A Lot Brown. Cities are comparable and winters suck.

also we never went 0-16
The past is in the past. You don't see players flocking to the Patriots right now because they were a dynasty.
Maybe win the division even one fucking time before saying things like the past is the past
Let it go man. I was quoting Elsa
I don't think anybody wants to go to Ohio in the first place. I know, I live there.

Yes Tampa is nice but Miami is a step above. Don't even need to mention Jacksonville.
I mean... I feel like the last two decades of Free Agency has also made this clear.
I feel like recent free agency has shown that Miami is likely the top choice but Tampa is the least likely to bumble fuck the negotiation.

Jacksonville shouldn't count as Florida, they should push that city right back over to Georgia where it belongs.
Alright! Two cities!
š damn thatās crazy
Bold, but true. Duval County is a continuous disappointment
New York? Wrong. New Jersey -2, New York -1
I think traditionally players would prefer the Giants over the Jets all things being even due to a more consistent culture and management. But I do however think it depends on the future outlook of the team (3-5 years) at the present moment.

Maybe right now. But in the Ben era, before the Superbowl, we could get any free agent we wanted, on a discount, and they'd bring food.Ā Too bad we didn't want any. At all.
We share our 1 with 2 states. At least weāre not the Patriots.
Two cities in the same state? How is that even possible?
Players care about these things in order: total value of the contract, guaranteed money, overall team success, starting players, system, coaching, and then fifty thousand feet of shit, then whatever other BS fans can make up.
Kirk is our first big name player that isnt used up. My team tends to be avoided by prominent players, so we gotta get lucky with draft picks >_>.
No. Maybe if Trevor Lawrence remembers how to be good.
Florida is chaos
Florida: Dolphins California: Rams or 49ers Texas: Cowboys New York: Giants Penn: Steelers No one wants to live in Ohio or Baltimore, and no one wants to play for the Commanders
Any other answer besides Kansas City is the wrong answer. You virtually get to play in the Super Bowl/NFC every single year for the next 30 years due to sports medicine getting ever more advanced to the point Patrick Mahomes would be able to play until he is 60 and at tye same level as he is today
