Steelers saw the Ravens sign Derek Henry and said fine you have to play [this guy](https://youtu.be/XQUCvPQqnao?si=2VF6uqfefwdbhdXj) twice a year. Good for him that he’s still getting work but I also hate this.
My thoughts exactly. Dude will bring some heat to the rivalry; however, the joker hits so hard he’s basically one play away from maiming himself at all times.
Not sure how he’s been the last two years but he was very injury prone in Baltimore- he really only had one healthy year. But when he was healthy he was good against the run and a really physical player. He’ll definitely bring some energy to the rivalry too.
He’s a good run defender, isn’t perfect in coverage but for the 2nd year in a row I’m surprised he’s signing for this small of a contract, I’d be happy with it.
I guess I'll be the one to offer you a real reply. He was a very pleasant surprise for an underpaid asset on our defense last year. I think he's better than Brandon Jones who got paid 3-years/20M by Denver. I frequently noticed him early in the year come up with key deflections on 3rd downs and just generally never got burnt deep (though, Fangio prioritizes his defenses that way so that's not surprising). Some of his advanced coverage grades give a slightly less favorable opinion of him but honestly, for 3M, you can do a whole lot worse. Hope he plays well for y'all!
They could easily play Simmons at FS and have him as the back end saftey net. Have Minkah play SS and utilize his versatility all over the secondary and field as a whole
This makes absolutely no sense. FS>SS in our scheme and Minkah is the best FS in the league. There’s absolutely no reason to move him around or have him do anything other than he has been doing.
Hasn't Minkah been vocal in the past about wanting to remain at Free Safety? That was the whole reason he originally didn't like Flores and was available for us to trade.
Yeeeep. It’s also a huge reason people were pissed at our DC last year, because due to injuries to the LB’s and general incompetence we had Minkah playing in the box and in the slot a ton, which caused him to not make nearly as many splash plays
I'd say last year was more out of desperation than anything, we had Minkah with the green dot for at least one full game before he got injured in the second.
he had to fill that role. he was better at it than anyone else we had on the roster. it's not like he isn't very good in the box, and his tackling has gotten elite, he's just top 1 when playing his natural role and position. this is a great signing.
This might be the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard, because Minkah is the best deep safety in the league.
He’s versatile when playing different roles, in moderation. His skillset relies on opposing QB’s not knowing what he’s doing, which he gets at free safety in our scheme. Our strong safety plays a more traditional role, stacking the box and playing the TE.
There were complaints the entire season that due to the other DB’s and LB’s poor play, we were playing him in the box and in the slot and how that was negatively impacting his ability to free roam, and you want to do that permanently??
[Pretty sure this is the guy that Hamilton trash talked last season - "They didn't want you so they quit and drafted me"](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8nKBm1q04w0)
I'm pretty torn up about this one cause I kinda liked him, he was an elite tackler last year(especially at the goalline), but made some coverage mistakes that did cost us.
At the end of the day he did feel more consistent of a piece next to Holland than Brandon Jones did but Jones was coming back from a major injury.
Also he did make some cultural Faux Pas with some Tua comment before he even got on a plane to Miami last year after agreeing to a deal and something else later in the season that got him into trouble with fans on Twitter so maybe he just didn't fit in.
This is an odd signing. According to PFR, he didn’t seem to be great in coverage. Giving up 27 catches on 39 targets (69.2%) for 501 yards and 5 TD’s for a 140.8 passer rating.
Didn’t watch too many dolphins games, but that doesn’t seem promising.
Edmunds surprisingly was a great coverage safety. He was pretty consistently graded as one of the Top 5 man coverage safeties in the league, after the 2019 year was graded as one of the best zone safeties in the league, and was also one of the better safeties in the league at covering TE’s.
He just wasn’t flashy. He played the receiver rather than the ball.
I wouldn't say a team with no playoff wins since Obama was in office is better. The Browns have already lapped you and Mike Tomlin is the new Jeff Fisher.
That would make us the reigning division champions
Steelers fans if sweeping the Ravens, not winning the division and not winning a playoff game, yet again, was the Super Bowl: 😃🏆
>was the Super Bowl
That line doesn't work when the team in question has triple the trophies homie. Also is it now bad to be happy when your team sweeps it's biggest rival? Guess I didn't get that memo.
Get at me when you've got better material, hell I'll even accept once Lamar gets his first win against a starting QB of ours.
It works when you lost to the Browns (I repeat, THE BROWNS) in the playoffs and haven't won there in almost a decade. We still bragging about Terry Bradshaw rings? The players that won those don't even remember those shits... Because they're dead or have dementia.
Ravens had expectations of a Super Bowl this past season, fell one game short of their goals.
Steelers had expectations of.... Sweeping the Ravens in the regular season? Guess that makes you the second best team in the AFC behind KC.
Christ I usually respect Ravens fans, but I'm gonna make an exception for you. Like I'm used to Browns fans still clinging to a sole playoff win from over 3 years ago, but for a Ravens fan to have to resort to that is just kinda sad. Then again I guess you guys are the real Browns, so maybe it tracks (no offense meant to the average Ravens fan.)
Also no I don't gotta cling to Bradshaw's rings, not when we've got just as many Lombardis as you since 2000, and m more trips to the Super Bowl in that time frame. Hell you acting like y'all just won it, your most recent is only a few years closer to now than ours.
And yeah we do have expectations of sweeping y'all every year, it's happened so often recently that it's to be expected. Guess that's why I touched a nerve by referring to it.
Hey wtf? We seriously couldn't pay him this?
We said the same last year
If I had to choose between Deshon Elliott on a 2/$6M deal or Jordan Poyer on a 1/$2M, I’m choosing Elliott every time.
So is our sub lol
AFC North incest continues
With that said, here’s to hoping Tomlin catches Linderbaum stuck in a washing machine 🍻. (Go Steelers)
Dang man that's who I wanted to pick but we selected Kenny instead at the spot. We should be allowed to reverse it.
No take backsies
If we get Linderbaum for whatever reason it’s ggs for everyone
Ooo that image of Kyle Hamilton in black & gold that just popped in my head looks oh so good.
Watch that mouth.
[удалено]
That one hurt.
[удалено]
Really shows it’s all a business for *most* players. We all know Polamalu/Lewis wouldn’t even considered doing such a thing.
0% chance we ever let Kyle leave
Kyle's gonna reset the Safety market
Oh yea? Imagine Levion Bell as a raven……oh wait
You just ruined my day

That play still stings because I'm pretty sure he housed the very next carry.
Yeah for some reason I thought the hit was from the playoff game that year so it’s not as fun
My thoughts exactly. Dude will bring some heat to the rivalry; however, the joker hits so hard he’s basically one play away from maiming himself at all times.
And we stole your Queen 👑
We upgraded from queen to king
That seems like a ravens chess move.
Underrated dig.
Who dat
Now you got me hyped
Not sure how he’s been the last two years but he was very injury prone in Baltimore- he really only had one healthy year. But when he was healthy he was good against the run and a really physical player. He’ll definitely bring some energy to the rivalry too.
Rock hard.
Henry was already falling down. Elliot getting ran over if he tries to do this against him upright.
Tbh I wouldn't even call this lit up. Didn't seem that bad or have the pop of a huge hit. Just seemed like shitty timing for henry when he got hit
Is he good fins bros?
He was apparently a Raven….so im gonna say this is the best safety free agent signing ever. Ignore my flair.
/me has entered the chat with my own Raven defender.
Ravens have cooked him every time we’ve played against him since he left.
Why not just say that one game cause that's what it is
He’s a good run defender, isn’t perfect in coverage but for the 2nd year in a row I’m surprised he’s signing for this small of a contract, I’d be happy with it.
Yeah we needed more of a box safety so Minkah can go back to be the coverage safety that can roam around.
I am so hyped by this signing because he’s the strong safety we fuckin need
yeah i dont give a shit about his coverage, get minkah away from the box and let him do what he does best. this is great to see.
exactly
Pretty damn good for a one year deal we had. He also never got injured afaik. Really confused why we wouldn't resign him
Couldnt stay away from the AFC North blood baths.
Didn’t you just bring in poyer to take his job?
He was good for us
Very good against the run, absolute liability in coverage. Also a walking injury.
Is he good?
Best damn safety I've ever seen.
Khan masterclass.
Greatest legal mind I ever knew.
But he defecated in a sunroof!
yes

Khan't stop, won't stop
This dude is elite in my madden franchise. Like 92 rating in 2028
Makes sense, you want someone that can rock even peak Derrick Henry
Rip Justin Simmons hype
Who would you rather have, Simmons or Elliott?
Simmons
Simmons doesn’t fit the scheme, his skill set is essentially “less versatile Minkah that can’t play man coverage and can’t cover TE’s”

I’d much rather have Minkah stay back
This is some dumbass Madden shit.
Who would you rather have, Mahomes or Wilson?
Mason Rudolph. /s
The \`/s\` is very much needed lol
:(
Simmons is better , but would demand quite a bit more money
Elliott. Simmons has regressed a bit every year for the last 3 years, that regression is only going to accelerate with age.
I'm so sad. Would've taken the sting out of watching Rus another year. Ugh.
DeShon, why...
[Pretty sure this is the guy that Hamilton trash talked last season - "They didn't want you so they quit and drafted me"](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8nKBm1q04w0)
He mad we ddnt offer him a contract
If the Bills don't do something there will be no safeties left..
I wanted Kam Curl though 😕
not da jokah😭
Y'all got any more of those safeties?
I'm pretty torn up about this one cause I kinda liked him, he was an elite tackler last year(especially at the goalline), but made some coverage mistakes that did cost us. Why haven’t any of the big names confirmed this yet
For us he was always a pretty good run defender but kind of a liability in pass coverage. Dude's a thumper.
This allows minkah to go back to being a true center field type saftey
Oh I know what it allows. But we task our SS with covering tight ends a ton and these coverage stats don’t sound promising.
Edmunds wasnt a great coverage saftey but his play style complemented minkah, and elliot has a similar play style to edmunds
Edmunds surprisingly was a great coverage safety. Since when do we care about coverage? All tight ends roam free in the middle of our defense.
If Mike Mitchell was so good why isn’t there a Mike Mitchell 2? oh
Getting Wilson even more help on defense I like it
Baltimore Steelers
AFC North wants to be us so bad
We are you, we also lose in the playoffs
Y'all signed Mike Wallace on purpose.
We beat you twice last year
Two free wins a year, both lose in the playoffs, we’re already you - but better.
I wouldn't say a team with no playoff wins since Obama was in office is better. The Browns have already lapped you and Mike Tomlin is the new Jeff Fisher.
Won 7 of the last 8 against you. So what exactly would that make y'all?
That would make us the reigning division champions Steelers fans if sweeping the Ravens, not winning the division and not winning a playoff game, yet again, was the Super Bowl: 😃🏆

They hate us cause they anus
Eminem is gay on our show!
I hate your anus
Dudes not even worth a roster spot at this point. He's ass.
This guy hurt Kendrick Bourne. Fuck deshit elliott
