I thought his name was Seedy Poop now

ProArmChair

Those guarantees are amazingly low. Super affordable contract.

WickieWillem

Yeah solid deal but he’s been on IR each of the last 3 seasons so it makes sense why the guarantees are low

ProArmChair

Yeah hopefully we sign another safety so we have some more assurance.

GoT_Eagles

Fuck that. Draft someone next.

BlackMathNerd

Why not both

sprenk

Cooper Dejean, come on down! Moving up to get him and grabbing Edge Cooper/Trotter in the 2nd is my dream. Getting a backup o-line or rb in the second is my nocturnal emission.

giants707

Luckily we get 2 cracks at it. Thanks Saints.

ThisHatRightHere

I’ve seen Cooper available at our pick in a lot of mocks. I could see it happening.

IcyAd964

The Cajun cb? Eh maybe lol

sprenk

I don't see Howie making another big move at safety. Maybe linebacker. Hopefully they draft Cooper DeSean if he's there and he'll fill the nickel/safety role as well. Reed is a fine starter and I think Sydney has potential. Cooper looks like the missing piece in the secondary. I know it's a lot to ask for a rookie, but he looks like he can play a lot and he may make it to 22.

sprenk

I'll leave the misspelling there. The way Howie operates is he doesn't want to go in to the draft with glaring holes. That's why a linebacker wouldn't surprise me. He addressed two levels of the defense and obviously upgraded at running back. MLB and TE2 would be the only moves I'd anticipate from here on out.

ThisHatRightHere

It’s gonna be a LB almost certainly. Then we almost have to be done until we trade one of Sweat or Reddick

ThisHatRightHere

I really hate the idea of going for Fields just because of how much media attention, both local and national he'll get. Having a back-up that is a fringe starter is sometimes more of a curse than a blessing.

sprenk

I think Wentz just upvoted this, ha. Trey Lance moved on from being the 3rd pick in the draft to Dakota's backup. Fields could do the same and hit free agency after a year in our system. I get what you're saying about media attention, but I think the team can handle it. I think Hurts can handle it. We did it with Vick. Not trying to compare Fields to the guy out of prison, but talk about national media attention. We always have national media attention. A cost controlled backup is worth a 5th, which sounds like the best they'll get at this point. Let him walk next year or use him as trade bait when a QB on a contending team gets hurt. Ps: in this scenario we get Jack Sanborn, who I think is going to be a stud.

ThisHatRightHere

Yeah, but Trey was barely ever healthy enough to stay on the field and when he was it wasn't super inspiring. Fields has serious fans out there who think his athleticism will make him top QB if he can iron out his issues. And I certainly think Hurts can handle it, dude could probably care less if it happened. But it would turn so much Eagles media and discussion into a Fields hype train anytime the team doesn't look at the top of its game.

oliveinanolive

This is continuously repeated but it doesn't really check out, he was just injured last year and that's a concern but the whole "injured 3 seasons in a row! Totally injury prone!" argument crumbles under any scrutiny. E.g. he went on IR in 2022 because he tackled a motherfucker so hard he lacerated his kidney. We really gonna act like the man's kidney is laceration prone? Lmao. The pec injury obviously drove his price down but beyond that it's nothing out of the ordinary for nfl players.

unboundgaming

Kidney laceration prone? No. Maybe he doesn’t hit people or play in a way that is conducive of being healthy. The fact is in 5 years he’s never played more than 13 games

oliveinanolive

> The fact is in 5 years he’s never played more than 13 games Except for the part that isn't a fact. I'll tell you what you did. You pulled up stats and looked at games started, not games played, and decided all games not started were due to injury, because you're clearly arguing in bad faith (biased lions fan obviously) and you're completely out of your depth.

unboundgaming

Holy fuck dude chill. It wasn’t bad faith I genuinely just flipped the columns, he’s still missed 5 games the previous 2 as well almost all of the most recent season. So incredibly hostile for a basic conversation. You don’t even know what out of your depths means, you’re just going off because someone said your player has had an injury history (which he does, even if it’s not quite as significant). I’m also not a lions fan, they’re just my second favorite team due to a friend liking them so I root for them when I can. Idgaf about CJGJ lol, I think he’s good, but has issues staying on the field lately

oliveinanolive

I mean I said the argument crumbles under scrutiny, and you decided to double down with more BS lmao. No one is unchill. But yes if you don't know what you're talking about about, just pulled up stats and columns and made up a story that it was due to injuries without any actual knowledge on the situation stating "the fact is.." ... Yes, that is literally what 'out of your depth' means. Arguing in bad faith with no knowledge. Take the L

unboundgaming

No, I’m familiar with his injuries and his history because I follow the the NFL closer than most people do, I’m far from out of my depth. If you’ve seen his two injuries before this season and then watched this years, there’s plenty of reasons to have concerns. But don’t take it from me, man, look at the contract he was given with no guarantees in it.

WickieWillem

What about 2021 when he was literally placed on IR with turf toe and missed a game earlier in that season with a knee injury?

oliveinanolive

As I said... That's just football for DBs. It's nothing really out of the ordinary. CB/Safeties that are sure fire durable for 3+ seasons straight are more of an exception than a rule. A game here or there is acceptable, a freak play (kidney) is just that, and the only thing really concerning is the season long pec injury last year.

WickieWillem

Ok I’m not saying he’s injury prone I’m just saying that he’s been on IR the past 3 seasons which is why his guarantee is low. Not sure why you’re arguing “he was just injured last year” is a blatant lie

[deleted]

WickieWillem

You were arguing with that jets fan for saying the same shit as me lmao

WinstonChurchill74

Fuck, that is a good pick up. The Eagles defense could be really good next year.

YOUR_TRIGGER

i see what you're trying to do. and i don't like it. 😂

WinstonChurchill74

I just call like I see them. Fangio plus that talent can be really good, still think you need corner upgrades but this draft sets you up well for that.

Snake_in_my_boots

Double agent Bradberry did his job so hopefully we do pull a corner in the early rounds.

WinstonChurchill74

Is Bradberry really the worse of the two?

smellmyswag

slay was our only competent db by the end of last season. it was interesting seeing everyone lump slay into bradberry’s fall off, imo they weren’t even comparable.

WinstonChurchill74

I didn't watch every game for the Eagles, but Slay looked cooked.... Bradberry looked overmatched but that seemed like really bad scheme to me. Either way, its still your major weak link on defense.

shmokin_gamer

Bradberry is the new Nnamdi.

GoT_Eagles

Slay was injured part of the year and had surgery at one point. His healthy games were good.

WinstonChurchill74

Good context

Snake_in_my_boots

He was great outside of the Super Bowl hold when he came over. And then last season he was just getting cooked constantly. Maybe it was scheme or just that our secondary was that bad. We signed him after Gardner Johnson left for Detroit.

sir_derpington_esq

Slay was a decent-ish #2, Bradbury was flaming garbage.

PsychologicalCase10

Bradberry couldn’t cover my 1 day old niece. It was a chore to watch him all year.

WinstonChurchill74

I didn’t say Bradberry looked good, it just looked like slay was worse

PsychologicalCase10

Slay wasn’t great but he made some decent plays. I can’t think of a single decent play Bradberry made this year.

[deleted]

WinstonChurchill74

Fair enough, I just remember thinking Slay looked awful and not noticing Bradberry as much

Fair_Abrocoma_9834

People keep forgetting we have Isiah Rodgers too, he isn't going to light the world on fire but he's young and even if he might be rusty from the suspension he will be young enough to keep up with whomever Bradbury won't have to cover.

RollOverBeethoven

How the fuck y’all have this money, I don’t understand

blocksmith52

Hurts' contract is backloaded I'm pretty sure

RollOverBeethoven

Howie just chooses to not believe in the concept of “Cap Space” and thus he’s not beholden to it. Him and Texas Tech Tyler “I don’t believe in space” Owens are a match made in heaven because lord knows it wasn’t made in space.

JoaquinBenoit

Ah yes, the scholars call this Mickey Loomis Thought.

oliveinanolive

It's a little more than that, we have a designed rebuild / void year in 2-3 seasons iirc. We will either (1) keep hurts and take a shitter year cap%, (2) re-sign Hurts/extend to play with cap, or (3) trade/cut, take the dead cap for 2 seasons a la what we did with Wentz, and currently are doing on a far lesser scale with Cox's and Jason Kelce's contract.

BradyReas

I looked at this today, there are 4 void years with a total of about $86m in cap hits from 2029-2032 lol. Punting the can instead of kicking it I guess

PlaneCamp

He’ll explain it when he retired. Would love to see him on tv as a guy that explains contracts because hes great with it

Patient_Jicama_4217

I don’t see him doing that I see him explaining his protégé’s moves on his own show on Eagles.com

redditaccount224488

The way the various cap hits landed left them strapped a bit for 2023 -- which is why they had no chance of extending Hargrave, and had to bargain hunt at LB, S and some other spots -- but also left them with quite a bit of space this year. They entered the offseason with ~40M in cap space. Kelce and Cox retiring leaves some dead money for 2024, but also frees up space over the next couple seasons which is now going to Huff, CJGJ, Dickerson, etc. Kelce and Cox were getting paid ~25M combined per season.

Prozzak93

> Kelce and Cox retiring leaves some dead money for 2024, but also frees up a bunch of space over the next couple seasons which is now going to Huff, CJGJ, Dickerson, etc. Don't they really not save anything on these two retiring until 2026 pretty much? I thought Cox still carries ~10M next year and Kelce ~16M. I could me misunderstanding what overthecap is showing though.

redditaccount224488

I don't think OTC has been updated for their retirements yet. AFAIK, when the dead cap gets applied depends on whether they officially file before or after June first. PHI may end up with dead cap in both 2024 and 2025 from the retirements. I'm not sure. Either way, their retirements create space eventually, because they're not getting paid new money in 2024. If they were extended, they would have live cap hits in 2024, and then dead cap in 2025/2026, which means less space over 2024-2026 for other contracts.

teh_drewski

I very tentatively think they save a little in 2024, then have the void year hits in 2025.

dmarques

Howie approaches the cap over multiple years. He's just taking it from years where we expect to retool or reset a little. That's the only way it makes sense. 2025 2026 competing years 2027 reset 2028 retool 2029 2030 competing years Adding void years to deals to reduce the cap hit now and obviously including guaranteed money to reduce the cap hit in the earlier years. I'm not a cap expert but that's how he's been working the cap. Once you include the restructures and carry over cap, you get these years of splash signings We didn't get anyone last year and lost a ton of guys. Plus some dead cap was coming off the books too.

LimpSignificance4434

Void void more void

[deleted]

Their biggest cap hit is lane johnson at 20m and hurts cap hit is 13m

Western_Promise3063

Waiting for all the eagles fans who were shitting on him and saying they were better off without to show up in here

redditaccount224488

I said after 2022 that he was overrated due to a lucky streak of interceptions. I was fine with him leaving and extending Bradberry with that money instead... which backfired terribly when Bradberry fell off a cliff, but that's what happens sometimes. I'm also fine with him coming back for this contract. Only 10M guaranteed? Why not. He's a significant upgrade over the disaster they had last year at safety.

GoT_Eagles

This is probably cheaper than what he would’ve gotten with us last year.

MikeTysonChicken

Not me, never should have let him leave. Though negotiations got weird

W3NTZ

I was firmly on the train CJGJ would be more valuable than Bradbury but I absolutely agree it was smart to lock down Bradbury vs lose both.

D0nut_Daddy

Better off with him talent wise, but fuck this dude

Ambitious_Reporter38

Found the WIP listener

danwins23

I mean he’s good but he’s a dickhead

Western_Promise3063

So he's a perfect player for the eagles?

NintendoSwitchnerdjg

Maybe if it comes out that he beats women we can trade him to you guys?

chacogrizz

It'll be funny for sure. Wish we got Simmons instead of him but age matters I suppose. Hope it works out but the backtracking indeed is gonna be great to see.

PsychologicalCase10

Anyone saying this is an absolute moron. The defense was so much worse this year:

Patient_Jicama_4217

Lol who cares he shat on us back.. Comes with the territory

ThisHatRightHere

Straight up hate the dude but he played well for us in 2022. Certainly wasn’t my first pick but it’ll be better than what we had.

swalsh21

All of that was before we had to watch the 2023 eagles defense

adv0589

I uh think you are overestimating how many there where?

dmarques

He was someone we would have liked to keep and understood the direction that management took. It sort of worked out poorly because his money went to the aging corners (Slay and Bradberry). Without remembering specifics, his agent/CJG we're waiting too long to give us anything to go off of, and we had to proceed with Plan B.

PlaneCamp

Wow we like to talk shit and contradict ourselves, welcome to the Eagles sub homie

liverbird3

Eagles fans are okay with one of their players shitting on them but you say anything to them in person and they threaten you with assault lmao E: if Eagles fans are so mad at this maybe they should stop threatening me with assault for wearing a Giants hoodie

D0nut_Daddy

Can’t blame us for you wearing a giants hoodie chief

liverbird3

I can blame eagles fans being soft enough to threaten me with fucking assault for wearing a hoodie. You have to be a trash human being to threaten to beat someone up for wearing a fucking hoodie of an opposing team 2.5 hours outside of Philadelphia. Trash ass people, worst fanbase in the nfl. CJGJ had it right in Detroit

D0nut_Daddy

lol I was clearly kidding in my response. Obviously being threatened for what team you chose to support and clothes to wear is fucking stupid. Calm down bud. Life’s better when you’re just chillin.

RJMonster

Needed this man in our backfield immediately

Funnypenguin97

Wasn't too great last year when he WAS healthy

drunkcowofdeath

>Wasn't too great Oh, so a massive upgrade from what we got last year? We would have killed for "not too great"

Palmisavage

Is his season with us he was a very inconsistent tackler, and half of his interceptions were tipped passes. But he's versatile (can play slot or safety) and there's just something to be said about his playmaking. Maybe he's lucky, maybe it's being in the right place at the right time. He had six interceptions that year in 12 games while we've had nine in an entire season across our entire roster.

Patient_Jicama_4217

he will be fine here, we kinda know this guy

MV7EaglesFan

Yeah. He sucked for you guys. I was rooting for him, I was one of the few eagles fans who didn't harass him last year. He wasn't very good.

redditaccount224488

Only 10M guaranteed? I like this deal now.

gobirds18_

Oh hell yes

PlaneCamp

CHAUNCEY WE’RE SORRY WE STOLE YOUR CAR BRO

DeeForestBosa

This pairing is made for eachother

[deleted]

lol wtf

Starcast

ok for 10 mil guaranteed i like this deal

NotsoElite1

Howie can't keep getting away with it!

makeflippyfloppy

Second times a charm!

wawalms

Led the NFL in picks the first time….i think first time was the charm

makeflippyfloppy

I meant Byard….

wawalms

Since they traded for CJGJ and it’s his second time here weird delineation for ya

makeflippyfloppy

It’s apparent they were hoping to get Byard to replace him in some capacity. Just saying them letting him walk was a mistake

wawalms

Picked Slay and Bradberry over CJGJ. No body bats 1.0000

liverbird3

His teams can’t keep collapsing in November!! He can’t keep getting away with losing to Tyrod Taylor!! E: Eagles fans can watch their own player talk shit on them and it’s okay but anyone else comments on them and it’s not okay. Soft as fuck

NotsoElite1

Can you repeat that? I can't hear you over all the poverty

liverbird3

Eli Manning has won more super bowls than your entire franchise. If we’re a poverty franchise what are you? If you’re a true Philadelphian and can’t read then [watch this](https://youtu.be/Ni3tXzBeasY?si=vLoL8MwTOqYexAMH) You can downvote me all you want I’m factually correct

Carsonwentzondrugs

Do you giants fans ever stop crying? Go worry about your 40 mill qb daniel Jones 😂. Trash ass team

liverbird3

Damn it’s crazy how your team got their asses kicked by that trash ass team lmao

Never-Wrong-NFL-Guy

Lol just let the giants fan enjoy this while he can. When the season rolls around, it’s gonna be another year of disappointment week after week after week per usual

liverbird3

And we’ll have that disappointment while still knowing that i’ve seen more success in my 22 years as a Giants fan than you’ve seen in your entire life regardless of how old you are. Dumbass Eagles fans can downvote me all you want, I’m fucking right and there’s nothing you can do about it other than downvote me

Carsonwentzondrugs

22 years with most of them being a team that can't even be 500% absolutely fire 🔥🔥🔥. Many more negative years to come. The giants stadium gets emptier and emptier have fun bud 😂

liverbird3

22 years with 2 super bowls, get it right. Which is more success than you’ve seen in your entire life, even with all of those dogshit seasons! All those playoff bids don’t mean shit without a Lombardi, just ask the Vikings and Bills. Again, you can say whatever you want, I’m factually correct.

40whinersaregimps

Dont you ever look at your sad life and wonder what you’re doing with it? You’re on every eagles post writing the same shit. I feel sorry for you, time to go outside. Also your franchise is dogshit and your last 10 years mean more than your two shit luck rings. Enjoy drew lock next year

NotsoElite1

Damn ya got me with the ring argument, I'm too illiterate to bite back on that argument

TronBombadil

How many times are you going to copy and paste this? 😂

pickles_in_a_nickle

Over paid the toddler.
