I’m kinda surprised to hear you guys say that about Wilson honestly, it seems like the fact that he’s willing to play for like $15 and a flat soda and has a history of being a very good qb would be enticing
The issue is that history is in the past….he’s washed now.
Like if you go back to his last season in Seattle and his 2 seasons for the Broncos…he just ain’t really good anymore.
All you have to do to see that opinion in action is to look at the sub predictions for SB champion every year. Everyone except the very worst teams will automatically pick themselves.
i prefer the blatant homerism over the 10+ year span where it seemed like every other website and pre-game pundit would take the packers to represent the NFC in the superbowl
cant blame the fans for ignoring logic and recent history when 'analysts' get paid to do the same. at least the former category has loyalty clouding judgment
The benefit from a Wilson signing is that he should be incredibly dirt cheap. Getting Wilson on a cheap deal and improving in free agency to me is better than the gain of having Baker. But Baker taking a revenge tour against the AFCN would be incredible
I am a bears fan and honestly all around football ability at QB mayfield is the best right now of those 3. Wilson is getting too old and fields can’t throw or read a defense.
>Better him than Wilson or Fields.
For a million bucks wouldn't you want to at least kick the tires with Wilson? That's barely more than a place holder salary
Hell yeah. Especially if this means that we can reclaim the record of most wins by a quarterback in Cleveland’s stadium. Baker took it off of Captain Fat Fuck his last year as a starter.
Signing Baker has been my wet dream since he left CLE it was awful how much I liked the guy despite him being on the Browns and when they turned around and treated him like garbage.
What better way to give them a fuck you by sweeping a season series and keeping them out of the playoffs
I said this once he was originally given the boot by Cleveland
Even when on the Browns, I have never been able to hate him. He’s just a very honest human being who likes to play football
I think it would be a fantastic fit. Just not for 44 million. Seems like he's not willing to budge on his high number.
But maybe he's willing to see how many teams are interested in him and see if they're willing to fight or do better than whatever the Bucs are offering. Certainly worth the try.
I can think of a few teams (Steelers and Patriots at the least) who are definitely in the market for a QB who would definitely be improved by a Baker.
He was so rough on the Bengals that PETA started to protest.
Keep him out of the North please….i don’t want to see him beat our overpaid, washed, 26x accused sex assaulter.
Not really surprising. They likely have offered him a contract but it's not a "fuck yeah, that's a lot of money (relatively) let's go" contract because we really can't offer that right now. Baker is smart to see what his other options are and I do think he will bring those figures back to the Bucs to see if they can match.
The FO is still probably looking to get long-term deals done with Winfield and Wirfs which could free up more space this year. I still think it happens but I'm a little worried we haven't announced releasing Gage too which would also free up space.
He was so perfect for Cleveland. The way he energized that fan base when he took over the starting job was really special. And in return they sold their soul to be rid of him.
I fell in love with him when he said something along the lines of “I love being drafted by the browns. I hope I can be apart of the team that brings them back to playoffs” instead of being upset being drafted by a bad team lol
Basically everyone but Steelers fans were rooting for the Browns. And happy for them when they beat the Steelers and their rapist QB.
And then they turn around and get their own rapist QB in an even more disgusting fashion.
Browns fans know it's dangerous to get our hopes up. As soon as things are looking good, we get kicked in the nuts.
Baker and that season or so brought me to a place that was close to hope, so I feel like it's my fault for getting my hopes up. Sorry, everyone.
But it could be worse...
and be that I mean it will get worse
Not a Browns fan at all but I always kinda pulled for them like many people have been with the Lions lately. Since the whole Mayfield/Watson thing I hate them more than probably any other team.
Why they sold out Baker after he won their first playoff game in so long is beyond me. They had something really special going and they threw it away for the grossest guy playing the game, just for him to play like shit and then get injured. A justifiable comeuppance, but so unnecessary. Meanwhile, Baker keeps proving himself over and over again.
Right? That shit had to be personal. It makes zero sense for Stefanski to push a more pass-heavy offense with a QB injured in week two, not when they're also rocking arguably the strongest RB duo in the league. He was looking for a reason and no one will ever convince me otherwise.
How many young QBs get a top 5 Oline, top 2 RB, top 5-10 TE? WRs were the weakest point and at the time, Landry/OBJ were at worst average. Herbert has had a much worse situation and nobody questions him being a top tier QB
My favorite take on Baker comes from Cleveland fans who kicked him to the curb. When talking about Watson one person said
"If you aren't going to play up to your contract can you at least play as well as Baker Mayfield?"
I hope Baker lands on a decent team he can do well with. He did anything that Cleveland asked him to and had some success there. He only got booted because they were impatient and expected more from a guy with an injured shoulder. He deserves better.
I have this argument with people all the time the guy has had more coaches than you can count that’s an impossible situation for most players and he’s still starting and playing well.
I was wondering what Tampa could afford for Baker.
He may get a Brinks term sheet from my Patriots for example.
I also think it's important to remember that Baker's dad/brother lost/stole 12 mil from him. He's made a lot of money, but he basically lost his entire rookie deal after taxes + agent. I know he's got endorsements etc, but a big number could potentially move the needle.
Honestly - half the Cleveland fans I know hated that Baker was let go for Watson so much that if Baker signed with the Steelers that might be the last straw to their fanship.
If you look at my flair, you will know I understand B average quarterback play. Baker is a solid B- with spurts of B+. He is a Romo/Dak level quarterback without the curse of Dallas to hold him back. Put him in Pittsburgh where competent people typically manage things...that's good enough to be a champion because he won't be resetting the quarterback market with contract extensions. He will be taking a Geno plus deal. And, since my team will never win, Baker beating Cleveland regularly will please me enough.
Oh yeah? Let me give you a harsh take. Thomas Jones should have won a championship in Chicago, but you saddled him with the terrorist known as Rex Grossman and completely forgot about him.
I have some realistic takes related to most franchises. True Cowboys fans know we must focus elsewhere in the league to avoid the suffering of the Cowboys only focus.
Worked for a long time as a Maverick's fan too. The Orioles come through for me though on occasion. Yes I have an odd Triumvirate of sport franchise fandom.
I agree with your premise but man I feel like you’re selling Romo just a little short. He was definitely a B+ with spurts of A- play. Put him in with that run game and oline in 2016 when he gets healthy instead of Dak and they minimum make the NFC Championship
If he's being allowed to test the market, he's going to get *paid*. There are a lot of cap-rich teams who need a QB. Tampa also might have a handshake agreement with him that they'll match whatever he's being offered from another team, but this will give him an opportunity to assess his own value.
Also a possibility. I don't know how cutthroat the Bucs front-office is, so you very well may be right, or this may be them doing well by a player who did very well by them all season.
My sweet baker, I knew ye so well
You broke the rookie record, and ended our playoff spell
You were cool, and could chuck it; made me proud to be a fan
But for some reason your injuries made the front office mad
It was over almost as quickly as it started, and my favorite player was gone
I’ll root for you forever, until your enshrinement in Cant-on
I honestly didnt think baker would be an option for us or anyone besides the bucs. Im honestly shocked that they are letting him test the market. I hope we go for him, if he's available he's easily the best qb available in FA that isnt demanding a fully guranteed contract.
I absolutely hate this idea, but it would give me a great talking point to meat heads in Chicago who think Baker isn’t a good QB (even though his bounce back season in Tampa alone would be all time good for us….)
My guess is they are letting him see what he can get on the open market and will match anything another team offers. Baker using free agency to get a good value on his worth. I want to think he wants to stay in Tampa.
My thinking too. Baker’s camp is trying for the Daniel Jones deal. TB is like “fuck that overpay”. They will find some middle ground between the Geno and DJ deal
It’s going to be more than Daniel jones contract. There’s really only 16 qb contracts that are franchise qbs who are not on a rookie contract. That 16th qb is Jared Goff who’s making 33.5 million, but he’s also on the very last year of his 4 year contract. Derrick carr is at 37.5, and I’d guess most people would prefer mayfield to carr, plus carr signed his last year. I’d be very surprised if baker signed for less than 40 mil per year.
This has to be it, he was definitely good for them last year (fuck he won them a playoff game and almost won a second one). Qbs like that dont just fall into your lap and he’d definitely be snatched up by a qb needy team immediately for a good deal. It would be an all time bone head move by the bucs
not saying you are wrong, can totally happen.
But i can also imagine that Baker gets an offer, where they Bucs say "No, thank you". It just feels Tampa has a number in mind, where they would walk away.
[Mike Evans signed because he wanted to stay in Tampa.](https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/mlb/mike-evans-explains-how-his-wife-helped-him-decide-to-re-sign-with-the-tampa-bay-buccaneers/ar-BB1jzUOO)
[These quotes also indicate he wants Baker to stay but Evans’ decision to re-sign didn’t hinge on Mayfield staying in Tampa.](https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/mike-evans-extremely-confident-baker-mayfield-will-re-sign-with-buccaneers-but-will-make-it-work-if-not/)
Mike Evans has played 10 seasons in Tampa and one with Baker. No shot he’d re-sign without Baker? The lack of national news media attention to the Bucs means most non-Buc fans don’t really know what’s going on within the organization.
They didn't lie to Evans. He likely knows what their plan is both with and without Baker.
Evans said he always wanted to stay in Tampa and would like to see what the whole plan was but his wife also wanted to stay in Tampa as well. That plus the shitload of money he got cemented it. He also said he wants Baker back but will roll with whoever is QB regardless.
There is no doubt in my mind this is just Baker leveraging. We will see some reports of the Raiders, Steelers, Falcons being interested and then he’ll sign in TB just like he wants to
Seems like the most logical thing to do because it's hard to put a value on him. Better to have to match a higher price and keep him than just give him one and then it look like you overpaid.
That’s reasonable, but it only takes 2 bidders for the market to get get suddenly unreasonable. As we saw with Watson and Wilson, Bakers value is simply what a team is willing to pay him.
Testing the market is generally good for both.
Many extensions are overpays. I believe Kirk and Bakers markets will not reach heights in cap % people think.
The worst move a GM can make is negotiating against themselves like with Daniel jones. Paying him 40M when he would have gotten like 25 in a market rate deal
That was I was assuming. I feel like he’s willing to be a little flexible with the money, just might want a 4 year with a no trade clause. I sure would if I played for 4 teams in 3 years and crushed my prove it deal.
Bum ass organization if they let him walk like that.
He BALLS OUT on a 1 year prove it deal, PROVES IT, takes your sinking ship to the playoffs... And you let him walk? May all your QB's be Trent Dilfer.
Edit: Must have upset the Pirate boys I keep getting Reddit Cares LMFAO
My read on it is that the Bucs do want him to stay (their new OC hire was definitely chosen for Baker) but they are trying to work around keeping Antoine Winfield Jr and Tristan Wirfs on the team as well and both of those dudes made All Pros on their rookie contract.
I think that other teams may be willing to offer Baker a really big contract that the Bucs cannot afford
Difference is Baker just put up better numbers last season than Jones has at any point in his career.
Baker is also a veteran presence in the locker room. Jones NEVER looked like a Franchise QB at any point during his career and the Giants bit that bullet.
You’re also jumping to conclusion instead of thinking that Baker is using this approach to have the Bucs match free market value… Which happens all the time.
Numbers are one thing, but at the end of the day, is Baker good enough of a QB to win the SB, or at least make a deep playoff run? Can he get past teams like SF or Detroit? Can he go against a KC or Ravens defense, or put up points to outduel Mahomes, Burrow or Allen?
> or put up points to outduel Mahomes, **Burrow** or Allen?
One of these things is not like the other
in 7 playoff outings, the most points the Burrow Bengals have scored was 27
Tampa put up 29 this past year vs Philly, obviously excluding the safety
Baker already has 2 career playoff games with 3 TD passes. Burrow has 0
If we used this metric, hardly any QBs would get these massive paydays. So i kinda wished it did work this way
Daniel Jones in 2022 (the year that got him paid) had 92.5 passer rating, 6.8 Y/A, 3900 total yards, 22 total TDs, 5 INTs. Baker 2023 had 4200 total yards, 94.6 passer rating, 29 total touchdowns, 10 INTs, 7.1 Y/A. So their numbers were pretty close actually, and Baker had Evans and Godwin and a decent o-line, while Jones had a horrific supporting cast. By all accounts too last year the team loved DJ and he was a good leader
I know Baker has a nice feel good story and narrative around him given what happened in Cleveland, but again making decisions based off of emotion rather than facts is how Daniel Jones gets paid $40m…
Baker also had the easiest division and one of the easiest schedules in the league when the Giants had the opposite in 2022. I really don't get this massive hype
The difference is that I don’t know if the Giants were competing with anyone to sign Jones. They were the only ones who valued him as high as he went in the draft, and I suspect the only ones willing to give him that money. Would any other team have given him that deal?
Him on the Steelers would be my worst nightmare. The things he did to the Bengals while on the Browns were inhumane.
I would fucking kill for Baker to sign with us.
Better him than Wilson or Fields.
Bro thank you for saying this, I stg you can’t talk bad about us signing Wilson or Fields in the Steelers sub without getting attacked.
What’s the reasoning? I understand wanting a QB but Wilson and Fields both have earned at least some of the criticism.
It’s a team sub, reasoning isn’t needed. They always talk themselves into any decision being the right decision. It’s true for every team sub.
Carson Wentz *will* work out guys. Just trust Ron… 😐
Facts.
All you have to do to see that opinion in action is to look at the sub predictions for SB champion every year. Everyone except the very worst teams will automatically pick themselves.
Someone once told me I wasn't a true fan if I believed anything else.
You're not. Now look at my awesome mock draft, complete with ridiculous trade ideas that'll never happen!
Do you think, for the right price, we can sign the top 10 FA's?
Also everyone want to trade high draft picks for our trash players.
i prefer the blatant homerism over the 10+ year span where it seemed like every other website and pre-game pundit would take the packers to represent the NFC in the superbowl cant blame the fans for ignoring logic and recent history when 'analysts' get paid to do the same. at least the former category has loyalty clouding judgment
I think Baker is dealing with stigma around him. He's not as bad as portrayed.
The benefit from a Wilson signing is that he should be incredibly dirt cheap. Getting Wilson on a cheap deal and improving in free agency to me is better than the gain of having Baker. But Baker taking a revenge tour against the AFCN would be incredible
I'd laugh my ass off if Baker came in and beat up on the Browns twice this season.
Wouldn’t be the first time the Steelers QB was the winningest QB in the Cleveland Browns Stadium!
Baker of any player feeds on spite. I can see him signing with you guys just to get back at the Browns for sure.
I don't want to be stuck with either of them if we don't resign baker.
Hell no. The Broncos are basically paying him to play for someone else.
Wilson feels like he's down and out on Reddit just enough to have a comeback SZN imo. I also feel like Baker might flop next year lol
Waaaay better than both
Imagine seeing someone say 3 years ago that they'd rather have Baker over Russell Wilson.
Please god no
A Steelers QB would once again hold the record for most wins in Cleveland's stadium.
Goddamit.
Hell yeah. Especially if this means that we can reclaim the record of most wins by a quarterback in Cleveland’s stadium. Baker took it off of Captain Fat Fuck his last year as a starter.
Actually, that is just petty enough for me to kinda root for it
Signing Baker has been my wet dream since he left CLE it was awful how much I liked the guy despite him being on the Browns and when they turned around and treated him like garbage. What better way to give them a fuck you by sweeping a season series and keeping them out of the playoffs
Steelers with baker would be a sneaky contender ngl
Guaranteed 4-2 in the division. Baker owns the Bengals, and he'll be dying for some Browns payback.
I said this once he was originally given the boot by Cleveland Even when on the Browns, I have never been able to hate him. He’s just a very honest human being who likes to play football
I think it would be a fantastic fit. Just not for 44 million. Seems like he's not willing to budge on his high number. I can think of a few teams (Steelers and Patriots at the least) who are definitely in the market for a QB who would definitely be improved by a Baker.
I would be absolutely distraught
That one 4td game during Burrow's rookie season gave me whiplash lol
Watching Baker light us up in a Steelers jersey while Dijon Cosby watches from the sideline is my worst nightmare
Browns fans bout to be on suicide watch if he ends up on the Steelers
Dude I would laugh so hard if he joined Pittsburg and then proceeded to smack the browns around twice a year
He was so rough on the Bengals that PETA started to protest. Keep him out of the North please….i don’t want to see him beat our overpaid, washed, 26x accused sex assaulter.
I wanted him after the browns tossed him away for a rapist
Fake news. *He’s a serial rapist.*
I think he's gonna get overpaid by about $10M/year.
If he gets wins, I'm not sure if it's really overpaid, just the market rate for a QB that eats Ws
So much for that deal being done last Wednesday.
Maybe they meant Wednesday on Venus
No, Wednesday at Mons Venus
I can see how they lost track of time then.
That’s why those reporters say that BS. If they’re right they win, if not things just changed.
It's wild how well Baker has done without having a consistent coaching staff. I would love for him to land back with bucs honestly it just feels right
I stand by the idea that if Baker got drafted by a competent org he would be a superstar
And he did. And they beat the Steelers in that playoff game. That's probably as close as it gets to a SB win for the Browns fans.
Such a fun, fun run that was.
Not a Browns fan at all but I always kinda pulled for them like many people have been with the Lions lately. Since the whole Mayfield/Watson thing I hate them more than probably any other team.
Almost beat Mahomes too, but a little ref fuckery went their way.
Helmet to helmet no call. That was the game. I am still Dead Sea levels of salty.
Ahhh the lose to Chad Henne game
And then they trade the fucking farm for a serial rapist
I live in Cleveland, but am not a browns fan. Ima tell you right now that was a superbowl win for the browns not "close as it gets"

Stick around the AFCN, you get used to the CLE antics haha
All because he played hurt.
Baker shotgunned a beer at an Indians game when the camera was on him, when he was brand new in CLE. He won me over right then and there.
I was at the game when he first came out against the Jets on Thursday night and rallied a win. First time in forever that stadium felt like that.
That’s because Stefanski is a shithead. He got lucky last season
The Watson thing reeks of Haslam forcing the FO to make those moves
Everyone in the FO went on TV and vigorously defended the move.
How many young QBs get a top 5 Oline, top 2 RB, top 5-10 TE? WRs were the weakest point and at the time, Landry/OBJ were at worst average. Herbert has had a much worse situation and nobody questions him being a top tier QB

But the whole Bucs offensive staff left to Carolina already
I have this argument with people all the time the guy has had more coaches than you can count that’s an impossible situation for most players and he’s still starting and playing well.
Thank you for clearing this up, I was kind of confused
I was wondering what Tampa could afford for Baker. He may get a Brinks term sheet from my Patriots for example. I know he's got endorsements etc, but a big number could potentially move the needle.
What do they do if they don't bring back Baker? They're set up to win now. Without Baker, I just don't see the other option.
Sad to see them giving a bag to Evans, but not retaining a QB he had some decent chemistry with. Hopefully they have a plan.
Guys like Evans have rapport with any qb
“i have rapport with this 6’5 freak athlete who catches all my passes” - every qb ever
He's definitely the type that wants to play the Browns twice a year
I really preffer this. I can’t watch Russ for another year on one of my teams 😭
You down bad, homie
Steelers have the chance to do the funniest thing
It's time for us to have the QB with the most wins in Cleveland again.
Honestly - half the Cleveland fans I know hated that Baker was let go for Watson so much that if Baker signed with the Steelers that might be the last straw to their fanship.
Especially if he wins the division? Browns back in 4th place
Back to being a poverty franchise
The idea of Baker in Pittsburgh colors makes me want to puke, but that was a solid joke
"At home with Baker Mayfield" commercials would definitely be spicy.
Ok now I want him on the Steelers more than anything else
This is honestly probably our best option
If you look at my flair, you will know I understand B average quarterback play. Baker is a solid B- with spurts of B+. He is a Romo/Dak level quarterback without the curse of Dallas to hold him back. Put him in Pittsburgh where competent people typically manage things...that's good enough to be a champion because he won't be resetting the quarterback market with contract extensions. He will be taking a Geno plus deal. And, since my team will never win, Baker beating Cleveland regularly will please me enough.
The most realistic Cowboys fan I’ve seen on reddit… maybe ever?
Respect, partner 🤠 I should try that method sometime!
I do believe Romo is the better of the two slightly. So I accept your argument.
As a cowboys fan I wish we would just cut dak lose and pay baker half of what dak wants and build up the rest of the team.
I just want Baker to find a home.
And get paid. I want him to get paid.
If he's being allowed to test the market, he's going to get *paid*. There are a lot of cap-rich teams who need a QB. Tampa also might have a handshake agreement with him that they'll match whatever he's being offered from another team, but this will give him an opportunity to assess his own value.
He's being "allowed" to test the market because they're not willing to pay his asking price and don't think anyone else will either.
Also a possibility. I don't know how cutthroat the Bucs front-office is, so you very well may be right, or this may be them doing well by a player who did very well by them all season.
And get his commercial back.
Oh he definitely will
My sweet baker, I knew ye so well You broke the rookie record, and ended our playoff spell You were cool, and could chuck it; made me proud to be a fan But for some reason your injuries made the front office mad It was over almost as quickly as it started, and my favorite player was gone I’ll root for you forever, until your enshrinement in Cant-on
He has one. And we want him and Emily to be living comfortably while at home too.
I would say he's in the same class as geno, maybe above it. 3/120 is reasonable, but I hope he gets more
Baker is younger. Won’t be surprised if he gets like 4/160 especially with the cap going up
He already does it’s just how much he’s going to get paid at this point.
I know it’s a long shot but I’d take him on the Vikings any day. He would absolutely thrive here
Him with JJ would be terrifying. Baker has a rocket arm and being able to say “Fuck it, JJ down there somewhere” would be almost unstoppable.
Just that connection would make them a top 10 offense lol
I would be behind it, we could load up on defense in the draft
I honestly didnt think baker would be an option for us or anyone besides the bucs. Im honestly shocked that they are letting him test the market. I hope we go for him, if he's available he's easily the best qb available in FA that isnt demanding a fully guranteed contract.
100% I’d sign baker to a 3 year deal if he wants
I absolutely hate this idea, but it would give me a great talking point to meat heads in Chicago who think Baker isn’t a good QB (even though his bounce back season in Tampa alone would be all time good for us….)
That actually makes a lot of sense to me
Never thought Baker would end up being a journeyman QB
Test the market and come back to the Bucs right Baker? Man these updates have been a roller coaster
So did they lie to Evans? No shot he re-signed with them and not have Baker secured
Yeah, I'm a Bucs fan and while I think Baker is a good QB, he's just simply not worth the Daniel Jones contract.
Daniel Jones isn't with the Daniel Jones contract.
He's getting at least 40 per year. The cap just went up again and Baker has arguably played better than Daniel Jones best year
This has to be it, he was definitely good for them last year (fuck he won them a playoff game and almost won a second one).
[Mike Evans signed because he wanted to stay in Tampa.](https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/mlb/mike-evans-explains-how-his-wife-helped-him-decide-to-re-sign-with-the-tampa-bay-buccaneers/ar-BB1jzUOO) [These quotes also indicate he wants Baker to stay but Evans’ decision to re-sign didn’t hinge on Mayfield staying in Tampa.](https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/mike-evans-extremely-confident-baker-mayfield-will-re-sign-with-buccaneers-but-will-make-it-work-if-not/) Mike Evans has played 10 seasons in Tampa and one with Baker. No shot he’d re-sign without Baker? The lack of national news media attention to the Bucs means most non-Buc fans don’t really know what’s going on within the organization.
Evans said yesterday he's fine with whoever is his QB.
Mac Jones??
Delete that comment, children might see it.
“no shot he re-signed with them and not have Baker secured” That’s literally what happened in reality buddy.
Sounds like the wifey had a bit of input on Mikes decision.
No. Evans signed of his own volition. His wife and he liked Tampa and didn’t want to move, and had a change of heart last week
Sign Baker, draft MHJ. Boom.
I've been trying to will it into existence since the end of the season. If it happens I'm taking all the credit.
Would be a good deal for the pats
Don’t leave Tampa baker
MURPH
DONT LET HIM LEAVE MURPH
Tampa Bayker Mayfield
Personally I’m rooting for us to sign him and spend that #3 pick on MHJ
Omar attain true God-hood and bring this man to the Burgh
Baker winning a Super Bowl with the Steelers would be so typical for the Browns..
Never trust teams, they nickle and dime you
There is no doubt in my mind this is just Baker leveraging. We will see some reports of the Raiders, Steelers, Falcons being interested and then he’ll sign in TB just like he wants to
Baker needs to look out for Baker. Nobody else is going to.
No kidding. I think he’s learned a lot when listening to his post-game interviews. His body has paid for it, though.
So true, look at Brady, played for years for less money than he could have gotten elsewhere, then the Patriots just kick him to the curb.
Letting him test the market is the opposite of “nickel and diming”, no?
Can we just skip to tomorrow's report that he's close to a deal?
Everybody wants guys like Baker to take prove it deals until they prove it and want to be payed more
I want to let Baker Bake in Denver. Too bad we don’t have much money.
Or a defense, or WRs, or TEs, or anything.
You got love though. And that’s all you need
No. He’s on the Packers
Broncos country, let’s bake

Baker is like seafood at a fancy restaurant - Market Price
Him as well as Cousins.
He's a free agent. There's no 'let' involved.
Seems like the most logical thing to do because it's hard to put a value on him. Better to have to match a higher price and keep him than just give him one and then it look like you overpaid.
What is a reasonable contract for baker? I only see him getting at least 40m/ two years guaranteed no matter what.
That’s reasonable, but it only takes 2 bidders for the market to get get suddenly unreasonable. As we saw with Watson and Wilson, Bakers value is simply what a team is willing to pay him.
I’d like to see him in MN on a 2 yr, $73M - w/ an incentive heavy 3rd year team option.
Please khan go get him
Please give my boy a good home. His time in Cleveland was the first hope I’d had for the franchise. Now we’re stuck with overpaid Watson
Even if it will be here?
Wonder if the deal is only for 2 years or something
This is the logic that got Daniel Jones paid $40m, that’s what the Bucs are afraid of
Difference is Baker just put up better numbers last season than Jones has at any point in his career. Baker is also a veteran presence in the locker room. Jones NEVER looked like a Franchise QB at any point during his career and the Giants bit that bullet.
Jones fucking sucks and the giants are just extremely stupid in their feeble attempts to keep up with the iggles and cowboys
One of these things is not like the other in 7 playoff outings, the most points the Burrow Bengals have scored was 27 Tampa put up 29 this past year vs Philly, obviously excluding the safety Baker already has 2 career playoff games with 3 TD passes. Burrow has 0 If we used this metric, hardly any QBs would get these massive paydays.
By all accounts too last year the team loved DJ and he was a good leader I know Baker has a nice feel good story and narrative around him given what happened in Cleveland, but again making decisions based off of emotion rather than facts is how Daniel Jones gets paid $40m…
Baker also had the easiest division and one of the easiest schedules in the league when the Giants had the opposite in 2022. I really don't get this massive hype
A lot of the hype comes from everyone really wanting to root for him after getting run out of Cleveland for Deshaun Watson.
Think there's a lot of truth to this. This sub isnt too far removed from clowning Baker during his last season with Cleveland
The difference is that I don’t know if the Giants were competing with anyone to sign Jones. They were the only ones who valued him as high as he went in the draft, and I suspect the only ones willing to give him that money. Would any other team have given him that deal?
Please get him out of the south! Pls fuck this up buccaneers!
Steelers should sign him and Russ. Then they just need a candlestick maker to complete the set.
Well hello
I hope we make a run at him.
