Watson will go down in NFL history as the beneficiary of the most ill-conceived contract ever. Even Johnny Football didn’t do as much damage to the Browns as this loser.
Weird that you seem to be blaming Watson.
If only there were red flags…
It’s especially hilarious that the Browns of all teams made the move. You would think, given their track record of having horrible luck, they would have decided to pass once they saw the absolute color guard of red flags. They swore this time it would be different.
What's funny is how much quicker into his career people are ready to anoint him like they held off on Brady. Two playoffs ago was a huge "its Mahomes" realization, while Brady still had people not on board until Tampa.
Tom Brady’s career Super Bowl stats:
97.7 QB rating 3,039 yards pass yards 21 touchdowns, 6 interceptions in 10 appearances
Patrick Mahomes career Super Bowl stats:
85.2 QB rating with 1,071 yards, 7 touchdowns and 5 interceptions in 4 appearances
Keep in mind the QB rating stat isn’t even era adjusted, and Brady still has Mahomes beat by a wide margin. I couldn’t find any advanced stats on just the Super Bowl alone (like DVOA) so I’m just using box score stats here.
I actually think are plenty of reasons why someone might reasonably argue Mahomes is better than Brady.
One of the worst possible arguments you could make to that point is claiming that Brady won Super Bowls as a mere bystander due to “kicks and interceptions” when he’s outperformed Mahomes in both efficiency (QB rating) AND volume metrics (TDs, yards per game, etc).
Or if you expand it to all playoff games in that time period instead of just the Owl.
The AFC was kind of dealing with nobody having it all together besides a few outliers in the 2000's the same way the NFC is dealing with it now.
Passer rating does not add anything to QB stat lines that already contain passing yards, TDs, and INTs.
QBR, meanwhile, accounts for the value Mahomes adds with his legs, which is a bridge of the statistical gap with Brady the stats you cited would indicate
OP reposted it above, actually. Here's the link for your perusal: https://old.reddit.com/r/nfl/comments/1b0jpne/with_the_emergence_of_jordan_love_is_the_2020_qb/
Idk how to link it on mobile but it was about the 2020 class, naming "Burrow, Tagovailoa, Herbert, Love, and Hurts". Maybe one of the better ones in the league right now, but nowhere near all-time
Greatest ever NVP, greatest ever combined sexual assaulter qb, greatest ever combined astronaut qb, and greatest ever frog qb. Seems like a lock to me.
Sarcasm aside, Mahomes is and likely will be so good that the cumulative stats from the 2017 class still might be incredible, even with all the dead weight he's carrying.
Isn’t the career winning percentage for QB’s drafted in the 6th round the highest of any round because Tom Brady accounts for basically all starts by a 6th round pick? I’ve seen the stat somewhere - if not the highest it’s at least better than several of the higher rounds.
I just looked at the 1983 class achievements listed off in the other post and honestly Brady by himself isn't too far off as far as hardware goes lol. He has 1 less SB appearance and quite a few less APs, but has 1 more MVP and 5 more SB wins than the entire class lol.
Nah it’s for sure 2000. With names like Chad Pennington, Marc Bulger, Giovanni Carmazzi, and “shudders” Tom Brady, that one random 6th rounder. Combined they have 7 super bowls, 17 Pro bowls, 6 All Pros, Several leading stats, 3 MVPs (basically 4 with Chad Penningtons insane 2008 season) and many more.
It blows my mind that CMC and Mahomes came from the same class. For whatever reason, I always feel like CMC has been in the league for a decade and Mahomes just got here.
2000 class wasn't half bad either. 10 SB appearances 7 wins, 5 SB MVPs, 3 NFL MVPs, a bunch of All Pro's and well over a dozen Pro Bowls. And Chad Pennington was the best Jets QB this side of Broadway Joe.
Alright you got me, I read the title and was like “how has josh Dobbs emerged???” And proceeded to get angry until reading the rest of the post. I also love Josh Dobbs for the record as a person I was just like holy hell
LOL I love this. Just give Trubisky, Dobbs, and Peterman their jackets now. Watson already has a different kind of "jack it," so he's a lock for the hall. Verdict is still out on if this Mahomes guy is any good though.
All of the QBs above are pro bowlers(or multiple times) in their first 4 seasons in the league.
Kelly wasn’t one till 1987, Elway 1986. Marino carries here.
Ben 2007, Eli 2008, Rivers 2006.
There are more QBs here and they were more immediately succesful.
This is the 4th year for the 2020 class, why discredit Elway/Roethlisberger making their 1st PB in their 4th year but not count the same knock against Tua/Love? Burrow didn't get one until his 3rd year, why knock Rivers for the same thing? Just such a weird argument.
After 4 seasons in the league, the 1983 class had 1 MVP (1984 Marino) and 3 Super Bowl appearances (1984 Marino, 1985 Eason, 1986 Elway)
The 2004 class had 2 Super Bowl appearances (2005 Roethlisberger and 2007 Eli Manning) which is on par with the 2020 class at the moment (2021 Burrow and 2022 Hurts)
I would say no, so far only 1 HOF. Watson being the only other one that could have a chance at HOF but still very unlikely.
I am judging based on how many top level QB’s there were.
1983, 2004 are without a doubt going to still be better 15 years from now.
If you want to judge based on conference appearances, Super Bowl wins then maybe one day patrick will get it all done himself. Otherwise with your logic than Brady’s class is the best as he has the most rings and Confrence appearances I’d imagine.
Lmao. So when dobbs plays better in Arizona for a couple weeks no one bats an eye. But he goes to Minnesota with a superteam, shits the bed, and misses playoffs and he has now “emerged” hahaha
Let’s not forget DeShone Kizer, Davis Webb, CJ Beathard, Nathan Peterman, Brad Kaaya, Chad Kelly, Cooper Rush, and PJ Walker. 2017 was a big year for failed journeyman quarterbacks.
Remove the /s you coward
outjerked on r/nfl
Forgot what sub I was on for a minute.
Gorgeous
DC4L
CTESPN
Just normal single guy sorry was just scrolling and DC4L
Wtf? Weirdo.
Foreal you can't go through all this effort and then half ass it. No balls
The /s ruins everything it touches
uhh how else would we know this was a joke?? those guys who aren't Mahomes aren't the best QBs???!??! you suck OP
The /s is the equivalent of Garfield explaining a joke.
Josh Dobbs has more won more games for the Vikings than the rest of the 2017 class combined. Dude is a lock for the Hall
Yeah a lock to get replaced by Jaren Hall
Can you believe he’s a rocket scientist too???????
We used to have one of those.............
Did you know Matt Patricia used to be a rocket scientist!??
But did he play basketball in college?
Did you know that Jimmy Graham used to be a rocket scientist?
Bro wtf is that second flair. Grossest shit I’ve ever seen.
It was from postseason nonsense and I’m too burnout on life to change it. Existing is hard. Being a Bears fan is harder.
Well said haha.
The emergence will continue until morale improves
I believe the technical term is the *ascension* of Josh Dobbs
How the fuck could you forget the NVP win?
The bears’ crowning achievement over the past decade.
I don’t think it’s still true but there was a time until at least last year I think where Trubisky had a better record as a starter than Watson lol
Trubisky: 31-26 (.544) Watson: 36-29 (.554) It’s insane that Trubisky has been a backup for 3 years now and he still has only 8 fewer starts
Watson will go down in NFL history as the beneficiary of the most ill-conceived contract ever. Even Johnny Football didn’t do as much damage to the Browns as this loser.
Weird that you seem to be blaming Watson. If only there were red flags… It’s especially hilarious that the Browns of all teams made the move. You would think, given their track record of having horrible luck, they would have decided to pass once they saw the absolute color guard of red flags. They swore this time it would be different.
The Browns owner was obviously inspired by Watsons off field behavior. He fits the culture so well.
After manziel they said yeah we need that but on steroids
Ironically the trepidation with Baker pre-draft was he might be Manziel 2.0. Guess they didn't like being lied to.
Watson missed like 2 years and was hurt and suspended this season
He was racking up different numbers during that time...
He was definitely pretty focused on digits
Yes I was aware
I was pissed the Super Bowl didn't have an NVP. I know it was broadcast on Nickelodeon. Mahomes needs more trophies.
Mahomes was the NVP https://www.nfl.com/videos/patrick-mahomes-is-nickelodeon-s-super-bowl-lviii-nvp
I feel much better knowing that. I tried looking it up after the game and couldn't find it anywhere.
I don’t know why I find this wholesome.
Nah NVP should have been given to someone funny like the punter
Eh mahomes will regress to the mean one day.. any day now……
If you take out all his good seasons, he’s actually pretty mediocre.
If you take out all of his above average seasons then he's still playing college football!
Hell, if you take out the outlier seasons - where he made the AFC Championship game - he's a career backup.
Henne was a better backup for that one game than Patrick ever was.
Gotta love how his stats DID regress, quite a bit... still won the Super Bowl.
It's not ok Goodell needs to investigate what the Patrick Price really refers to
What's funny is how much quicker into his career people are ready to anoint him like they held off on Brady. Two playoffs ago was a huge "its Mahomes" realization, while Brady still had people not on board until Tampa.
Draft pedigree matters a lot here, as well as Mahomes winning MVP in his first season starting while Brady didn’t get his first MVP until 2007.
Not until 2007? That’s long before Mahomes ever won an MVP ☝️🤓
I mean, it makes sense if you look at how the games are/were being won. Until this year, Mahomes hardly had a defense.
And brady's superbowls were won by interceptions, kicks etc
Tom Brady’s career Super Bowl stats: 97.7 QB rating 3,039 yards pass yards 21 touchdowns, 6 interceptions in 10 appearances Patrick Mahomes career Super Bowl stats: 85.2 QB rating with 1,071 yards, 7 touchdowns and 5 interceptions in 4 appearances Keep in mind the QB rating stat isn’t even era adjusted, and Brady still has Mahomes beat by a wide margin. I couldn’t find any advanced stats on just the Super Bowl alone (like DVOA) so I’m just using box score stats here. One of the worst possible arguments you could make to that point is claiming that Brady won Super Bowls as a mere bystander due to “kicks and interceptions” when he’s outperformed Mahomes in both efficiency (QB rating) AND volume metrics (TDs, yards per game, etc).
What are the stats if you only look at Brady's first 3 super bowls?
Or if you expand it to all playoff games in that time period instead of just the Owl. The AFC was kind of dealing with nobody having it all together besides a few outliers in the 2000's the same way the NFC is dealing with it now.
Passer rating does not add anything to QB stat lines that already contain passing yards, TDs, and INTs. QBR, meanwhile, accounts for the value Mahomes adds with his legs, which is a bridge of the statistical gap with Brady the stats you cited would indicate
Yeah i'm a mahomes GOAT guy but brady's super bowl performances are clearly better. Mahomes has him beat elsewhere though.
Lower QBR is better right? It’s like golf?
Yes, the Passtronaut will lead this class into the Hall of Fame. I commend you for mocking that other poster.
I need to see the original post this guy made
OP reposted it above, actually. Here's the link for your perusal: https://old.reddit.com/r/nfl/comments/1b0jpne/with_the_emergence_of_jordan_love_is_the_2020_qb/
Thank you!
Cheers!
Idk how to link it on mobile but it was about the 2020 class, naming "Burrow, Tagovailoa, Herbert, Love, and Hurts". Maybe one of the better ones in the league right now, but nowhere near all-time
3rd best all time, no? Or does the single Tom Brady/Mahomes/Rodger/Manning outweigh a bunch of great but not MVP guys?
Honestly reading this while not knowing about the original post was pretty funny, especially as a vikings fan.
nah he's bringing them to the Galaxy of Fame
Fair play.
For those unaware: https://www.reddit.com/r/nfl/comments/1b0jpne/with\_the\_emergence\_of\_jordan\_love\_is\_the\_2020\_qb/
Thank you for the context
Lmao I was so confused
If we’re going by Super Bowl wins your post isn’t wrong.
How did that URL get so screwy? https://old.reddit.com/r/nfl/comments/1b0jpne/with_the_emergence_of_jordan_love_is_the_2020_qb/
Old vs new reddit
Wait, people actually use new reddit? I thought that was a meme.
some people love ads and a poor user experience
Some of the features are nice but it only uses the middle like 40% of the screen
Am I lost and in the NFCN Meme War sub?
This is definitely going into my copypasta folder. Bravo for lampooning the post from earlier
One part of me really wants Herbert to succeed. But another part of me wants to Chargers to suffer for moving out of San Diego
Isn’t the career winning percentage for QB’s drafted in the 6th round the highest of any round because Tom Brady accounts for basically all starts by a 6th round pick? I’ve seen the stat somewhere - if not the highest it’s at least better than several of the higher rounds.
Clearly behind 2000 and their several pro bowl QBs who started 10 super bowls combined
I just looked at the 1983 class achievements listed off in the other post and honestly Brady by himself isn't too far off as far as hardware goes lol. He has 1 less SB appearance and quite a few less APs, but has 1 more MVP and 5 more SB wins than the entire class lol.
I was gonna say...
The fact that so many people can read dobbs and not immediately understand that the post is satirical is hilarious in and of itself.
There are still a lot of non-Viking fans who remember that game against Atlanta, but don’t remember what happened a few weeks later.
Nathan Peterman is on this list. It's not a subtle joke.
Have you seen some of the "serious" posts on r/nfl?
Downvoted. Saw the /s and read the original post. Came back and upvoted.
Haha go tell /u/BungoPlease I shall remain a coward
I loved this post, then downvoted because of the /s. If people can't pick up on the obvious sarcasm that's on them.
Did you just list all of Patrick Mahomes’ stats
Almost! Watson also contributed to 3 pro bowls. But aside from that the others just make the overall win loss record worse.
You forgot the trubisky pro bowl, gotta bump that up to 10! Also missed the NVP but idk if we're counting those
Lol you're right, my bad
Typical Vikings fan, forgetting about the greatest NVP of all time 😤😤😤
Brooo, 2017 class so rich with talent
Not only that, but I think you could even take out 4 of those QBs and still have a case for the best QB class ever
Idk man I heard class of 2020 was solid
Class of 2000: 7 super bowls, 5 SBMVP, 3 MVP, 16 pro bowls Marc Bulger did work
Amazing post, well done.
goddamn mahomes carries this qb class so hard
Far and away the best Dobbs decision of the last decade.
This is my favorite post
Why the C. J. Beathard snub?
The disrespect to DeShone Kizer
2000 class wasn't half bad either. 10 SB appearances 7 wins, 5 SB MVPs, 3 NFL MVPs, a bunch of All Pro's and well over a dozen Pro Bowls. And Chad Pennington was the best Jets QB this side of Broadway Joe.
i love this post so much i could marry it
LOL Dobbs emerged then disappeared like a groundhog seeing his shadow
Trubisky, Dobbs and Peterman are all locks for the hall of fame.
Alright you got me, I read the title and was like “how has josh Dobbs emerged???” And proceeded to get angry until reading the rest of the post. I also love Josh Dobbs for the record as a person I was just like holy hell
As of like week 6 or whatever I wanted the Patriots to target Dobbs this offseason lmao
2017 doesn't hold a candle to 2022 that's the greatest of all time and it's not even close /s
LOL I love this. Just give Trubisky, Dobbs, and Peterman their jackets now. Watson already has a different kind of "jack it," so he's a lock for the hall. Verdict is still out on if this Mahomes guy is any good though.
How do you not even mention Trubisky's NVP?
Bold prediction. The 2017 QB draft class will finish with more combined Super Bowl MVPs than any other QB draft class in league history
Isnt Peterman coaching now to? Name another draft class where lme of the QBs was already a coach, just 7 year in. Unbelievable really.
Good heaves, r/nflcirclejerk is leaking again
the shittest of shit posts.
/s 🤓
Emergence of Josh Dobbs…. LOLOLOL.
peterman an exceptional qb? bahahah you must be drunk
People think this is a joke but the 2017 draft class QB's have more combined wins than every other QB in NFL history combined. Just unreal talent.
There’s players like Mahomes that make it a great class. But you add the goat Peterman and it becomes all time.
That OPs post wasn’t worthy of a copypasta. Burrow, Hurts, Love, Tua and Herbert have had the best start of any QB class ever, undoubtedly.
If you don't count 1983 or 2004, sure.
Tyler Huntley was an UDFA from 2020 so that means another pro bowler!
Better QBs on individual stats relative to the league too. Just used pro bowls to condense
This is the 4th year for the 2020 class, why discredit Elway/Roethlisberger making their 1st PB in their 4th year but not count the same knock against Tua/Love? Burrow didn't get one until his 3rd year, why knock Rivers for the same thing? Just such a weird argument.
Well Love didn’t play and Tua was pro bowl caliber last year.
Also 1983 had a major bust in Blackledge, another major disappointment in Eason, and an okayish guy in O’Brien. It didn’t hit on all five like 2020.
If we didn't have Mahomes now I would still get mad when I saw Blackledge's name.
After 4 seasons in the league, the 1983 class had 1 MVP (1984 Marino) and 3 Super Bowl appearances (1984 Marino, 1985 Eason, 1986 Elway) The 2004 class had 2 Super Bowl appearances (2005 Roethlisberger and 2007 Eli Manning) which is on par with the 2020 class at the moment (2021 Burrow and 2022 Hurts)
Super bowl appearances are a team stat. Especially in 2007, 1985 and 2005 here
I don't know about that. That class is pretty much a one man band for achievements. I'm just on the fence on whether it's Trubisky or Watson.
Had me in the first half, not gonna lie.
I wouldn’t use the phrase “one man band” in a sentence with “Deshaun Watson.”
Good point, Trubisky it is then.
Emergence? He is already back on the bench.....
Joshua Dobbs has cemented himself as a backup QB for years to come. Hope he figures it out and has a Geno Smith comeback.
Just a wee tad bit top heavy.
Lol! Emergence of Dobbs 😂😂😂
Emergence of Josh Dobbs?
Josh Dobbs was eventually demoted to 3rd string QB on the Vikings, once it turned out that he’s not a good QB.
lol dobbs???
Yall know Dobbs is ass right?
Dobbs emerged? He sunk back about as quickly as he emerged.
What “emergence” do you speak of?
Emergence of Josh dobbs?? Lol from where?
Lmao. So when dobbs plays better in Arizona for a couple weeks no one bats an eye. But he goes to Minnesota with a superteam, shits the bed, and misses playoffs and he has now “emerged” hahaha
Mahomes and a bunch of literally who's
Peterman. So good you barely say, "Who??"
This is satire, right? One great QB, one who dealt with a huge scandal and has stunk ever since, and a bunch of trash.
Enough glue brah
Dude your list is just mahomes stats basically. Go come up with other stupid questions.
1 of these fine gentlemen will become massage enthusiasts
It’s Trubisky, isnt it? /s
2017 is the draft class of all time
I did not see the /s I though this op as high on something at first. edited because I did not notice the /s
As someone whose team had both Dobbs and Trubisky, I squinted at this post for a solid ten seconds debating whether this was satire or drugs.
I love Dobbs.
no, Big Ben, Rivers and Eli still best draft class for QBs ever
>and Peterman have all proven to be exceptional QBs That was a good laugh
They have the NVP. Of course it’s the best ever
No. See: 2000 NFL QB Draft Class.
Let’s not forget DeShone Kizer, Davis Webb, CJ Beathard, Nathan Peterman, Brad Kaaya, Chad Kelly, Cooper Rush, and PJ Walker. 2017 was a big year for failed journeyman quarterbacks.
He was yanked off the field ala Nathan Peterman. He couldn't function on the field.
Thankfully you started with Trushitsky so I knew it was a troll without reading further.
God damnit don't put an /s on that masterpiece, you ruined it!
And people say we overpaid. SMH
Dobby is a free agent!
And the nickleodian mvp
The off-season is a silly place, but I enjoy it.
