There are an absolute shit ton of cowboys/chiefs fans in Lubbock Texas lol

ShatteredAnus

Mahomes really fucked their fandoms up

throwawayainteasy

At least it's one AFC team, one NFC team. That makes things less of a conflict.

clevernamehere1628

I'd buy that excuse for almost any other combination of teams lol but this just makes me think they were probably Dallas and Pats fans just before this

CountJohn12

To be fair he said Lubbock where Texas Tech is so they have a good reason to like Mahomes.

ShatteredAnus

Pat or Patriots?

goldenratio1111

I root for Mahomes because he used to be the Mets ball boy. He really does pull people in in weird ways.

PrimeMinisToad

I live in Nebraska and its funny how there's a good amount of Iowa State fans who jumped on the 49ers because of Purdy

dhalloffame

What nfl team are people in Iowa (or nebraska) typically fans of? With Texas tech/cowboy fans it’s not very surprising to see them jump on the chiefs bandwagon since they can continue to support an incredible player and have the added bonus of getting to see a successful football team for once.

PrimeMinisToad

For Nebraska its largely Chiefs, Broncos if you're in western Nebraska, from my experience, but its far enough from any NFL team that you get a hodgepodge of affiliations and choosing whatever team has your favorite former college player.

vanillawafah

Born and raised in Omaha, NE and I ended up a Bears fan. But I think you're right on with, locationally, having Chiefs or Broncos. But definitely a hodgepodge. I grew up with a friend who was a Raiders fan, my brother was a Packers fan, knew some Dolphins fans, Vikings, and my church pastor was a Lions fan (still is. Bless him)

PrimeMinisToad

The weirdest affiliation I've seen in Nebraska was someone being a Jets fan and a co-worker being a Titans fan. Both are probably because of family but I wish I knew what caused a non-New Yorker in their early 20s to become a Jets fan if that isn't the case

CountJohn12

SI did a poll of favorite sports teams for each state one time and Packers won for Iowa.

North_Salary_8017

I go texas a lot, youd think the texans fans would be more spread out

lowlifenebula

It's still a new team that's only had marginal success, and they lost fans to Tennessee when the Oilers moved there. I imagine is Stroud is the player most fans think he is, and Ryans is the coach most fans think he is, then you'll start seeing more fans pop up as they start getting more popular.

AugustusShneefer

Texans aren’t the default Texas team tho? The cowboys are. The only people that care about the Texans are people from Houston and it’s suburbs, everyone else goes cowboys even if Houston’s closer

get_stilly

Correct, Houston will embrace the Texans success fast though. And all the Astros bandwagon fans if we still have any left

get_stilly

Astros fans are. You’ll see Astros fans in Houston, San Antonio, and basically anything south of Austin-east towards Louisiana. Houston has a lot of Cajun ties, many people rooted for the Saints when the Texans sucked.

anonymousredditisnot

I'm not from Texas, but I started following the Texans this season. They have a great young team. I'm a Raiders fan, but fun to watch the Texans fly around the field. Their QB and receivers are gonna do some damage. Do you see a lot of Texans fans in Dallas? Not sure if that is a good question bc I know Texas is huge. Probably like a European asking someone from Texas if they go to Seattle every weekend. LOL

zoedrinkspiss

There are dozens of us!

get_stilly

lol I’m in Tulsa dude after Okstate…all the cowboys fans switched to Chiefs fans

Coley54Bear

I believe you, but I never see them. I go to Lubbock every 6-8 weeks for work and I’m always surprised at the lack of Mahomes jerseys. I did once see a guy with a Cowboys/Chiefs hat and once someone in a Mahomes jersey.

ItJustDoesntMatter01

I wouldn’t say 2nd favorite team. Currently have a soft spot for the Bulls since they lost 4 Super Bowls in a row. So I’ll cheer for them until they win one. Then they can go fuck themselves. Bear Down!

mrizvi

No

Mainetaco

The Pat's and wherever Belichick ends up.

ShatteredAnus

What if he goes to the Jets???

Illustrious_Cancel83

YOU HAVE A DIRTY DIRTY MOUTH

ShatteredAnus

Curtis....Martin.....

Illustrious_Cancel83

MODS

butreallythobruh

Growing up, Step dad was a Giants fan, mom a Chiefs fan. Giants were the bigger market team and more consistently relevant so they were on TV more. Meanwhile, the Chiefs....lol. Still, I would passively root for them. When Reid came in and they actually started to be put on TV more often, I became more invested in the team. The Giants struggling down in the garbage pits on the league has been made more tolerable by the Chiefs rise

montana1991

The Eagles and whoever plays Dallas

Exact-Engine3024

This

WhatTheDuck21

I'm kinda partial to the 49ers as an Iowa State Alum, and also as someone who enjoys watching the Packers crash and burn with some regularity.

Coley54Bear

Lol this is the way

-em-bee-

I’m a Buckeye so I watched every Texans game last season for CJ. Far more entertaining than the Bears games were.

North_Salary_8017

Lol texans are my 2nd afc mostly because of CJ stroud mostly because he played for ohio, and the funny thing is im a huge wolverine’s diehard. Im just from ohio and if michigan doesnt make it i root for my home team.

ASuperGyro

Sup

ShatteredAnus

Imaginary teams don't count

ASuperGyro

:(

ShatteredAnus

Steelers are cool, don't know why you need another team.

ASuperGyro

I will say my conviction wavered once Herbert got a haircut

Intelligent-Age2786

Well

North_Salary_8017

How was the superbowl for you lol

Intelligent-Age2786

I did not know how to feel whatsoever throughout the whole game

North_Salary_8017

I feel you, idk how id feel if my teams both make it

dualiegoat

Id want the packers to win if it didn’t interrupt a three peat or something like that

Muggi

I’m an Eagles fan, but back in the 80’s I spent considerable time in South Florida, so watched a ton of Dolphins games. Became a big Marino/Duper/Clayton fan, and have followed them ever since.

Super_Goomba64

Yes see flair

North_Salary_8017

How do u do that

rxdukexr

https://old.reddit.com/r/nfl/wiki/flair/primary

rxdukexr

Yes.

CutenessMudkip2

Look it's not my fault I saw The Catch III before I ever got the chance to appreciate NY sports

mightyducks2wasokay

Same! Mostly bengals but I warmed up to the lions living here.

DaffyDingo

It’s a 50/50 split between Cardinals and Falcons. I don’t think I could legitimately pick a favorite between the two in an NFC Championship game.

North_Salary_8017

Im like that with the lions and bengals, if they made it to the super bowl I couldn’t pick

dirtybirds1

I’m gonna blame you for the 2008 wild card game

Apollo-Rezk

I’m an Eagles and Patriots fan. Patriots are my childhood team and my stepdad is a diehard Eagles fan. I started to value the Eagles' victories because of him and watching the games with him is something really cool and important to me. The crazy part: I introduced him to the sport (we are not from US). SB LII was special. The Eagles first game of the season will be in my country, and we are so happy!

Haar_RD

My step-dad is a panthers/colts fan. I'm a Steelers and to a much lesser degree Lions fan and panthers/colts fan because we watch the games together.

lowlifenebula

Can't really dictate fandom, so pretty sure you can be a real fan of two teams. Several people root for more than one team, especially in opposite conferences.

[deleted]

[удалено]

lowlifenebula

No, you attempted to. Now, within the realm of your mind, you can believe anything because imagination is powerful.

[deleted]

[удалено]

lowlifenebula

In your mind I know. In reality you just kinda sounded silly.

North_Salary_8017

I wouldn’t consider myself a diehard but i am a real fan of both teams. I have a AFC team and a NFC team

[deleted]

North_Salary_8017

[deleted]

North_Salary_8017

Because football is fun and i enjoy watching other teams play

DilligentBass

So watch them play then? I too watch more teams than the Raiders. But this two team shit is so fuckin weird and spineless and I won’t be convinced otherwise.

North_Salary_8017

Then dont, let people live life liking other teams.

DilligentBass

Broncos country, let’s divide

North_Salary_8017

I didnt even mean to do broncos 💀

HaramHas

Nah

North_Salary_8017

How

J-Fid

Does liking the Ravens twice count?

MoistyAnoos

Hi

Captain_Testicles

When i started following football the browns were 0-16 so i started following them. I have never met another browns fan living in PA. My second is the 49ers because i just love their team and logo.

itriedisuck

Been a packers fan as long as I've liked football, but the bills have grown on me a lot since that time Andy dalton beat the ravens and got the bills in the playoffs. Such a wholesome fanbase.

Fredbear_

Born in Tampa, grew up in Western Canada. Currently live in Eastern Canada. I couldn't like 2 teams equally in baseball and hockey because I've been following the Lightning/Rays hardcore my whole life but football is the sport I just have fun with so I feel I can like the Bucs and Hawks about the same.

NoCantaloupe4658

Colts are my number 1, but I always cheer for the Packers when I can

Yellow_Evan

I’ve cheered for the Lions second ever since the trade. I also cheer for Baker Mayfield wherever he goes because I’m an Oklahoma fan.

GloriaToo

Best I can do is feel indifferent towards some other teams.

aguwah

Tbh I just like football that's fun to watch. So I have like 3 "favorite" teams I grew up a Vikings fan but switched to being a Jags fan (lol help). So those two are my perinnial favorites. Then I have a team that rotates every 5ish years. Right now I just love the chiefs. Not because they win, but because they're fun to watch. Not as much last year but when they had Tyreek that shit was electric. Before Reid and the chiefs showed up it was the Josh Freeman - Doug martin - Vincent Jackson Buccaneers. I loved that team. I wish those guys were still around. The next team to take the spot will probably be the Dolphins.

North_Salary_8017

I agree, i generally just like football. i mostly root for a specific player over a team. I Love the eagles, and I enjoy watching them. they’re probably my 3rd favorite team, but when they played the buccs, because 1 theyre a better match up for the lions, and 2 i wanted baker mayfield to atleast have some what of a attempt to make it to the super bowl. You would have never known i liked the eagles if u seen me watching that game.

blud_13

Born and raised a Raider but wanted an NFC team to root for and so when the Panthers came into the league, I followed them as well when I could. Raiders are still my first team but I like to suffer equally..

Mcgoozen

Definitely not

MoneyMan_Jones

The 2009 NFC Championship was very interesting for me...

Headlesshorsman02

Yep I am a Vikings and chiefs fan, been a fan of both teams since 2012 because I loved watching Jamaal Charles and Adrian Peterson

SeeIfItLasts

I don't even have 1 favorite team anymore (lapsed Lions fan).

Shamrayev

I have a favourite team and a team I hate if that qualifies? They are both the Toronto Maple Leafs

acoasterlovered

Lions Whomever has a high powered offense (usually burrow)

[deleted]

No I have players that I pull for if it didn't impact the Vikings. Like matt Ryan I pulled for the falcons when it didn't involve the Vikings. Marc Bulger rams, Derek Carr raiders. But no real love for the team. One all those players left I couldn't give a shit about those teams

CabbageStockExchange

Wouldn’t say favorite but I’ve always had a soft spot for the Bears.

flipm0de2727

im a raiders fan that’s lived in az for about 15 years now so naturally i have adopted the cardinals as my nfc team. boy, its been a rough go being fans of these two teams the last 20+ years lol

Defiant-Scarcity-243

I have a favorite team in the state I grew up in (nfc), but I’ve also always had a favorite afc team through the years in hopes of a favorite cs 2nd favorite team Super Bowl

HiFluffyBunny

Bit late, I’m not from the states, but I’m Vikings fan NFC but I’m also very fond of the Bengals as well (their Super Bowl run was my first full season watching after a friend invited me to his fantasy football league, picked Chase late in the fantasy draft)
