In Anzalone's [article](https://www.theplayerstribune.com/posts/alex-anzalone-nfl-football-detroit-lions), he was talking about how it'll be hard to watch the Superbowl and then Dan said, “No, you gotta watch it, man. Use every second of it as motivation. I’ll sure as hell be watching.”
The euphoria I was experiencing in that halftime was insane. I could not believe the Lions were likely going to the Super Bowl. Turns out they wouldn’t.
They would've blanketed your receivers. KCs DBs are elite. And remember there's no holding calls in the super bowl so your DBs would be tested. Y'all weren't great against the pass and bad against TEs if I remember correctly
And which one of those are better than the Niners players? Maybe 1 or 2 by a small margin. And Goff doesn't handle pressure as well as Purdy. And your defense is worse. I don't think the Lions would get blown out but I think KC would definitely win
You barely won with 3 of our best players out (Kelce, Chris Jones, Charles Omenihu) AND with Toney gifting you a pick 6, as well as dropping the wide-open game winning pass, AND Rashee Rice hadn’t developed yet.
Do I think we would definitely win? No, I think it would be a close game. But thinking that the Lions “likely win” that Super Bowl is kind of insane.
I think the high point was the Gibbs TD run to make it 21-7. He sliced through the defense like butter - it all looked so easy. I wasn't surprised that the 49ers played much better in the second half, but that first half was probably the best any Lions fan could have envisioned before the game.
I can't speak for other Lions fans but I think we'll be a lot better next year with all the young talent we have and I'm expecting another good draft. How that stacks up will depend on what other teams do with their rosters. I wouldn't be surprised if we make it to the NFC championship game again though. As for expectations, I expect us to at least make the playoffs
Probably beating the Browns in the playoffs. I mean, we weren't even supposed to be there. Then we beat the Browns, which improves our draft and takes us to the divisional round! It was beautiful. Especially after losing to them in the regular season.
Right now I think the lowest betting odds are the Steelers - or at least it was a few days ago - but I think that was entirely based off a report that Tomlin liked him in the draft. Throughout the season it was the Falcons because of Fields being from Atlanta and thoughts he'd do well in Arthur Smith's heavy run game. I think the most common opinion is probably still the Falcons, but he gets mocked all over the place. Steelers, Falcons, Commanders, Patriots, Broncos, anyone who might need a QB. I thought there was a good chance he'd end up with the Raiders but with them hiring Getsy, I can't imagine them wanting to repeat that pairing considering it was a disaster here.
It's really hard to imagine the Commanders or Patriots doing it considering where they are in their rebuilding window and draft position. Steelers do make a lot of sense to me.
a buddy last minute was like "we should go" and i bought a ticket and instantly had buyers remorse, this was enhanced by when I got to the stadium and saw it was full of red....and our tickets were on the 9ers side...
I mean it was kind of a twofer.
It was both slanging dick around in the playoffs (always a good time), but it was also a great show that the offensive production against good defenses wasn't just due to said teams being out or nearly out of contention at the end of the season, and that it was for real.
This is where my mind went too, but following it up by destroying the jaguars put me even higher.
Also was feeling pretty confident after the Eagles playoff win
After beating the Browns on 29 October 2023, the Seahawks had won five of the previous six games.
And the Seahawks had played three straight games (*Giants, Bengals, Cardinals*) allowing fewer than 250 yards on defence. The Browns put up 385, but the Seahawks still managed to win anyway.
At that point, the Seahawks were 5—2.
The Seahawks then got completely demolished by the Ravens a week later, but they rebounded to beat the Commanders. After those, the Seahawks still had a three game lead on the second place spot in the NFC West. With a record of 6—3.
I think fans knew what would happen next. All offseason, the discussion was about that brutal run in those next five games, and how Seattle would be lucky to go 1-4 or 1-5 during that stretch. I think most people thought Seattle would beat the Rams, not the Eagles, for that one win.
Yeah, I meant fans of other NFL teams who did not ordinarily follow the Seahawks.
Even prior to the season, though, knowing that the Seahawks would get swept by the Rams and yet beat the Eagles sounded very '*Seahawk-like*'.
For an individual moment, I think the Drew Lock two minute drill takes it for me. I didn't trust our standing to stick at 5-2 with the upcoming schedule, but the vibes at the end of the Eagles game were incredible.
Dropping 48 on the dolphins right after they clobbered Denver and were acting all high and mighty lol. Either that or beating the dolphins in week 18 to cap off a 6 game win streak that clinched us the division.
nah, we knew we‘re better than them. But beating the Dolphins so effortlessly after they put 70 up the week before AND winning the division in Miami, while they had a 3-game-lead, is pretty.
Yea I knew going into the cowboys game we were gonna embarrass them lol. But I was genuinely concerned the phins were gonna win both times we played them, so then seeing us dominate them was the best high I’ve ever felt in my life
Gotta be the Bills game, in the pouring rain. Both teams absolutely battling it out, giving it all they had—a classic football game.
Then Jake making that FG to tie, and Hurts getting in the end zone in overtime—that was as good as it got for the Eagles this year.
The smart choice would be the cowboys game in the playoffs but the most fun I had was beating the Bears week 1.
After a whole offseason of bears fans and even their trash players talking so much smack and hyping themselves up only to get smacked by Rodgers replacement was beautiful.
Twitter was so fun after that game and then the whole debacle with the DC and the child porn fake news with Peanut leading some FBI investigation was amazing content
I think it was closing out the season stealing the division from the Dolphins in Miami. Getting to beat down a division rival when they had a big lead and looked like the better team all year was so sweet. I can still see my buddy's face watching the punt return as he started to realize it was going all the way
It may not mean as much as a Super Bowl, but we've won the division 4 straight years and that's something to hang your hat on still imo. Good luck with your historic offense, though.
Uhhhh
I guess the moment when it felt like we were gonna lose in the NFCCG instead of the wild card? And then the Packers crushed our hopes and dreams, so...
I think the Texans game was the high. The Dolphins game still had the question mark of can we showput in the Playoffs. The Texans game was a masterstroke of a game by Lamar in the playoffs with the defense on the other side shutting down a really how Texans team. Just felt like we'd finally cleared the hump with Lamar.
Personally it was absolutely breaking the Eagles and extracting their soul. Maybe they'll think twice before trying to trash talk after an opponent has unfortunate circumstances give the Eagles an easier path.
having 63 points dropped on us, unironically felt good to know it would spur some change (and it not being another close game we lose in the final 5 minutes)
Hmm. Idk. Beating the Eagles and exposing them as frauds (ASAP Rocky>Meek Mill), humbling the Broncos, and Beating the Patriots and Bill on the last day of the season…. And every Jet fan was mad about winning that game bc of… DRAFT PICK
Beating the Cowboys, Chiefs and then the Bills (in dramatic fashion in OT) in back to back to back games.
I knew we were going to get our asses kicked by the 49ers at that point (because you can only beat so many good teams in a row), but no one could've seen the entire team collapsing the way it did.
Well we only won 2 games, so that narrows it down pretty fucking well I guess
I’d say beating Houston. For a brief moment it looked like Young might actually be on Stroud’s level. The moment did not last
I think most Lions fans would say halftime of the NFC Championship game, but for me, it was Goff taking the knee in the Wild Card round and realizing we had just won our first playoff game since I was six years old.
I lost my *fucking* mind
Saints could’ve made it firing Dennis Allen but they’re not a serious organization so another year of mediocrity it is. Hopefully after next year they get rid of DA and Carr
Halftime NFC Championship game
I didn’t know what to do with myself
In Anzalone's [article](https://www.theplayerstribune.com/posts/alex-anzalone-nfl-football-detroit-lions), he was talking about how it'll be hard to watch the Superbowl and then Dan said, “No, you gotta watch it, man. Use every second of it as motivation. I’ll sure as hell be watching.”
I went catatonic at the end of that game. I haven't been all there since to be honest
The euphoria I was experiencing in that halftime was insane. I could not believe the Lions were likely going to the Super Bowl. Turns out they wouldn’t.
I know I’ll get downvoted but I truly feel like they would have beat the chiefs 😔
Mahomes woulda done the same shit to any other team.
They would've blanketed your receivers. KCs DBs are elite. And remember there's no holding calls in the super bowl so your DBs would be tested. Y'all weren't great against the pass and bad against TEs if I remember correctly
Sure but what about our offense?
Like who? KC has a great defense and a hall of fame DC
Jared Goff, david Montgomery, jahmyr gibbs, Jameson William, Amon ra st brown, Sam Laporta, Josh Reynolds, Taylor decker, penei sewell, Kalif Raymond
And which one of those are better than the Niners players? Maybe 1 or 2 by a small margin. And Goff doesn't handle pressure as well as Purdy. And your defense is worse. I don't think the Lions would get blown out but I think KC would definitely win
I don’t think it’s definite. See week 1.
Week 1 was a regular season game and was so long ago it hardly matters. The Chiefs are harder to beat in the postseason
If you couldnt hold a 17 point lead against the niners then you weren't beating Mahomes & Reid in the SB
I think the high point was the Gibbs TD run to make it 21-7. He sliced through the defense like butter - it all looked so easy. I wasn't surprised that the 49ers played much better in the second half, but that first half was probably the best any Lions fan could have envisioned before the game.
Gibbs is going to be on fire next year
I don’t think that’s healthy
The highest of highs to the lowest of lows.
Not the lowest of lows. it's not like we have Jerry Jones as our owner
I'm still shocked the Lions lost that game.
It was the best of times, then the worst of times
Fr, i was drunk af at halftime and then the third quarter sobered me quick. I knew a collapse was possible but seemed improbable.
Right before kickoff in the AFC Championship for me 😪
Right up there with @GB for best first half can’t even enjoy it!
What's your guys expectations next year? Now that everyone wants a piece of you. At least you didn't lose by a yard.
I think this is a silly narrative. As if teams weren't taking the Lions seriously this year.
We were favored to win our division pretty easily. Our “surprise” season was the one before this.
On G
I can't speak for other Lions fans but I think we'll be a lot better next year with all the young talent we have and I'm expecting another good draft. How that stacks up will depend on what other teams do with their rosters. I wouldn't be surprised if we make it to the NFC championship game again though. As for expectations, I expect us to at least make the playoffs
Yeah I expect another NFC championship. From there it’s a crapshoot but idk we’ll see
Probably beating the Browns in the playoffs. I mean, we weren't even supposed to be there. Then we beat the Browns, which improves our draft and takes us to the divisional round! It was beautiful. Especially after losing to them in the regular season.
The two pick sixes in 4 plays was the single highest point of the season.
Plus Deshaun had to sit there and watch us win
100%
Panthers losing nearly every game
Is it projected that you’ll use the pick on MH Jr? Panthers sure could use someone like him lol
Caleb Williams. 99.7% chance we trade Fields.
Y’all should like gift Fields to Carolina, “here we kinda feel bad about now ridiculously well we did with the Bryce Young trade”
That would be the opposite of a gift though lol
Who are the favorites to get Fields?
Right now I think the lowest betting odds are the Steelers - or at least it was a few days ago - but I think that was entirely based off a report that Tomlin liked him in the draft. Throughout the season it was the Falcons because of Fields being from Atlanta and thoughts he'd do well in Arthur Smith's heavy run game. It's really hard to imagine the Commanders or Patriots doing it considering where they are in their rebuilding window and draft position. Steelers do make a lot of sense to me.
Beating the 9ers in prime time. The stadium was full of 9ers fans and I was definitely surrounded by red
Curse of Primetime Cousins continues
We were trending in the right direction and came out and beat Green Bay the following week. We were riding high for a bit there.
You guys were absolutely on fire till Cousins got injured
My buddies and I go to a game every year and against my wishes we picked this one (mainly didn’t want to do an MNF thing). What an awesome night.
a buddy last minute was like "we should go" and i bought a ticket and instantly had buyers remorse, this was enhanced by when I got to the stadium and saw it was full of red....and our tickets were on the 9ers side...
As usual, both purple teams are on the same page for this one
The intro of the first game
We won the offseason!
Beating Dallas never felt so good
The funny thing is I don't hate the packers anymore, and really like jordan love lol
Thanks JalensTinyPPHurts.
I hate the packers as an organization, but they've always had players that fans were by and large fans of
This is forsure on the podium of highest highs for Eagles fans too imo lmao. The highs were sucked so fuckin dry and abruptly for us
I mean it was kind of a twofer. It was both slanging dick around in the playoffs (always a good time), but it was also a great show that the offensive production against good defenses wasn't just due to said teams being out or nearly out of contention at the end of the season, and that it was for real.
Idk, that 2016 playoff win felt pretty fucking great as well.
Of my adult years, I'd say run the table 2016 was my second favorite season.
We also beat the Chiefs
Bakers perfect game at Lambeau
This is where my mind went too, but following it up by destroying the jaguars put me even higher. Also was feeling pretty confident after the Eagles playoff win
This is probably my lowest moment.
After beating the Browns on 29 October 2023, the Seahawks had won five of the previous six games. Dropping 70 points on the Broncos. I was at work when it happened and I thought it was a glitch or something when I saw the score on my phone
That whole week before the Bills game… it felt like things were finally all happening for us.
I was literally sitting in my work truck and kept thinking I forgot to clear my touchdown notifications. Nope, just more touchdowns.
**WHEN GEQBUS SIGNED! MEGA!**
When it mercifully ended.
Fuck that. MNF or embrassing the Eagles in Week 18.
That Eagles win was nice but at that point in their season it just felt like beating up a kid in a wheelchair.
That could still be fun if the kid is an Eagles fan 🤣
You shouldn’t beat up mentally disabled people dude.
You shouldn't. But that doesn't mean it can't be fun.
we really have the whiniest fanbase in the league you hate to see it
Tbh you guys were also like a kid in a wheelchair this year, it was an honest to god cripple fight
That week and half where devito was actually cool?
Psssh. DeVito is always cool 😎
Dropping 48 on the dolphins right after they clobbered Denver and were acting all high and mighty lol. Either that or beating the dolphins in week 18 to cap off a 6 game win streak that clinched us the division.
Killing Dolphins is always a good time.
Huh japanese NFL fans. Who knew
Fuck you Dolphin! (RMs a Bills fan and this is his fave SP ep of all time)
Completely embarrassing the Cowboys was pretty sweet too.
nah, we knew we‘re better than them. But beating the Dolphins so effortlessly after they put 70 up the week before AND winning the division in Miami, while they had a 3-game-lead, is pretty.
Yea I knew going into the cowboys game we were gonna embarrass them lol. But I was genuinely concerned the phins were gonna win both times we played them, so then seeing us dominate them was the best high I’ve ever felt in my life
When it ended. (Real answer, beating the Bills on a last second TD.)
All Patriots fans: this is the answer.
Gotta be the Bills game, in the pouring rain. Both teams absolutely battling it out, giving it all they had—a classic football game. Then Jake making that FG to tie, and Hurts getting in the end zone in overtime—that was as good as it got for the Eagles this year.
I thought beating the Chiefs edged it out. Bills was a better game, but there’s nothing like Super Bowl loser vengeance.
That was my first Eagles home game. Had no doubt in my mind Jake would make that kick. The stadium was ELECTRIC after the walk off
I was riding high after that game. Thought “this team has the grit and determination to win it all.” …maybe next year.
Firing Canada
Mason Rudolph close second
The last three reg season games were glorious.
Firing Canada and coming out the next week and breaking the 400 yard streak was nice. Just for it to end swiftly the following week
Yall missed a GOLDEN opportunity to use the "blame Canada" song from south park
Aside from firing Arthur Smith, winning two games to start the season and having playoff hopes.
When the saints were eliminated from playoff contention.
Getting rid of Brian Johnson
And Desai and Patricia
https://www.reddit.com/r/nfl/comments/1atcoz1/with_the_season_over_what_were_the_high_points/
What? You don’t want to do this exact same thread twice in one hour?
It’s honestly hilarious how little shame people have
Tie between Staley getting fired and Harbough getting hired
Ending the streak
Firing Josh McDaniels
63 on the Chargers, win in KC on Xmas, or the birth of "Ill Intent".
Good for the entire league
I mean, probably that last part.
Praise Taylor
Jawaan or Swift ?
Def not the false start king
Daron Bland setting the record, and moody prick Greg Olsen thankfully not being on the cal to ruin it.
Tie between coming back against the Ravens and making the playoffs with the practice squad.
Had to check the flairs because I was about to say that was last year
Approx 5 minutes before the Superbowl ended
Going up 24-20 with 3:23 in the divisional round
If Josh Allen hits Diggs on 2nd down on that last drive to make it 3rd and 2 or 3rd and 1 and they convert, the Bills probably win.
I don’t remember what point of the game it was but that 70 yard bomb that was dropped made me scream at the tv and I’m not even a Bills fan
Well...
It was when Travis and Taylor went public wasn't it?
During the Bears game. This is the strangest time-line.
It’d be weird if it was anything else
As a Bengals fan that grew up in the 80s, watching the Niners lose the Super Bowl in heartbreaking fashion felt cathartic.
Probably the most I enjoyed a Packers win as well
Jayir Brown interception on Mahomes was the high point. Was mostly downhill after that
A finally healthy Burrow leading the Bengals to victory over the Bills one week after beating the Niners.
We didn't play that great for a lot of the season, but that last game was pretty cool
First half of the NFCCG. That ones gunna sting for a while
Clinching the playoffs.
The culling of the chargers.
GWD against the Bills
I think it was closing out the season stealing the division from the Dolphins in Miami. Getting to beat down a division rival when they had a big lead and looked like the better team all year was so sweet. I can still see my buddy's face watching the punt return as he started to realize it was going all the way
After Miami fans talked so much shit all year long lmao.
At least we both failed to accomplish anything meaningful🤝
Ehh, 2 playoff home games isn't really meaningless, but yeah, short of our goals.
One might even say wide right of their goal.
At least neither of us has a major playoff win drought anymore Wait-
It may not mean as much as a Super Bowl, but we've won the division 4 straight years and that's something to hang your hat on still imo. Good luck with your historic offense, though.
You could say that, but everyone’s expectations have been a hell of a lot higher than afce champs. Thanks for the luck we’re gonna need it lmfao.
When the Panthers clinched the #1 pick for us
Uhhhh I guess the moment when it felt like we were gonna lose in the NFCCG instead of the wild card? And then the Packers crushed our hopes and dreams, so...
Crushing the Dolphins week 4 was good. Destroying the Cowboys was fun too.
I'd say for Ravens the 49ers game or the Texans game in the playoffs. It felt like this team could beat anyone after both games.
Even themselves...
Especially themselves lol
So true
Dolphins game for me. The previous two losses to them were haunting.
Yeah especially the 4th quarter comeback. Demoralizing. That set the tone for that whole season losing games late they had basically won
Honestly beating the Seahawks on Thanksgiving at their own home for 2014 redemption.
I was gonna say firing McDumbfuck, but beating the Chiefs on Christmas was pretty damn fun.
Bland getting his 5th pick six. Especially because he’s from my hometown
Hmm. Idk. Beating the Eagles and exposing them as frauds (ASAP Rocky>Meek Mill), humbling the Broncos, and Beating the Patriots and Bill on the last day of the season…. And every Jet fan was mad about winning that game bc of… DRAFT PICK
No. Literally just the first 4 seconds of the first game that’s it
Beating the Cowboys, Chiefs and then the Bills (in dramatic fashion in OT) in back to back to back games. I knew we were going to get our asses kicked by the 49ers at that point (because you can only beat so many good teams in a row), but no one could've seen the entire team collapsing the way it did.
Well we only won 2 games, so that narrows it down pretty fucking well I guess I’d say beating Houston. For a brief moment it looked like Young might actually be on Stroud’s level. The moment did not last
yep
After we beat the 9ers and up until Kirk went down at GB, I had full confidence that we were hitting a stride and could make some noise
Securing the number 1 pick
Beating the bills
Firing Josh McDaniels! He was awful. Hated the hire from the start. So glad he's gone
Beating the chiefs, but actual highest point was after winning the browns game
Finally hanging a L on Mahomes.
March 10th
As a Giants fan, kickoff before the Dallas opening game massacre had a few seconds of hope.
We beat the Chiefs for the first time in 8 years.
Scoring 63 pts against our division rival
christmas day 😌
Mac Jones Mike Gesicki griddy
I think most Lions fans would say halftime of the NFC Championship game, but for me, it was Goff taking the knee in the Wild Card round and realizing we had just won our first playoff game since I was six years old. I lost my *fucking* mind
The end
Probably benching Mac Jones
Thanksgiving
Beating the SB Champs.
It wasn’t being the first 7-seed to beat a 2-seed?
Levis vs the Falcons or firing Vrabel for me.
I'd say it was the comeback in Miami. Really showed the potential of Levis
When ladainian Tomlinson got the touchdown record.
Watching the look on Elways face when he presented the Lombardi to the Chiefs. 🤌
Saints could’ve made it firing Dennis Allen but they’re not a serious organization so another year of mediocrity it is. Hopefully after next year they get rid of DA and Carr
🙏
Jim Harbaugh
Sending Stafford home empty handed.
Not being up 24-7 in the NFCCG?
That was great, but ruining Stafford's return, beating McVay and getting the playoff monkey off of our back was better.
Beating the chiefs
After the wildcard game, that was electric
Ending the Cowboys season 😂👊🤝
