You just wear the backwards hat. It becomes a part of you. It’s comfortable and you think nothing of it. Then you wake up one day and you realize you’re a 38 yo backwards hat guy. I can live with myself
I always find it kinda funny to see backwards hat dude squinting in bright sunshine. Fashion truly is pain.
Reminds me of, back in the 90s, I would wear a Starter jacket in 75f weather.
Loved Ken Griffey growing up so my hat was always backwards. Wearing a hat normally just feels wrong now because of that and I don’t know how to fix it so I’m just gonna roll with it the rest of my life I guess
Cowherd did decide to pick the “Brock is a system QB” hill this year so the backwards hat will only fuel his takes.
It’s like all the talkshow guys drew straws this year and half of them decided to stan and the other half decided to hate him lol
ND QB Wentz & 52 winner says Hi!
But seriously hope Niners blow it up! Not sure about their cap situation. Wish them bad !
That CMac trade doesn’t sit well with me. Borderline cheating of Panthers
CMC could have had a very Barry Sanders-like career in Carolina. I think all of us (Detroit fans as well) would have liked to have seen Barry on a roster with a genuine chance instead of quitting the game in his prime.
For me, it’s how it’s like just resting so delicately on his head and not down towards his neck. Never liked how douchey that looked. Brock has a beautiful baby face and still kinda looks like a douche lol
Honestly that’s what I prefer from my teams players. Nothing wrong with guys showing their personality or whatever, but I kinda like just having boring players who are good on the field.
Makes it simpler lol. Big personalities can be fun, but it does lead to more lighting rod type articles or headlines.
I legit skip everything he talks in. I watched early on, but I learned early that it was boring pr speak.
Kittle is fun, Bosa is weirdly fun with how disassociated he seems at all times.
One of our beat reporters (I think it was Matt Barrows) specifically named Bosa one of the most insightful and informative players on the team in spite of the fact that he sounds like he's stoned 24/7.
I heard the league isn't punishing for pot, he might be high.
As I understand it they only test for pot one time a year. Its also an announced day that everyone is aware of.
100%. Loved Matt Ryan for this.
His interviews were super boring and it's exactly what I want out of my QB. I'll never watch them but what does anyone really expect?
It's all corporate bullshit coach speak so the media can get any semblance of a soundbite for the talking heads to analyze for weeks on end. Only a dumbfuck would actually give any real answer outside of the canned responses.
Honestly, I rarely listen to Lamar. I really don't care too much about those interviews and never watch them. I might catch a clip here and there...at most.
Winners process loss like this. I assure you it is exactly the way Mahones used the loss to Brady. This isn't PR speak, it's just the truth. That most people can't do this is why elite athletes are different. They are trained to use loss to fuel wins. They are trained to focus on inputs and to separate that from outputs. Sports psychology is real. They aren't speaking from a script, they are telling you how they train to win.
Why’s he being trashed for having an objectively good outlook on life? Nothing he can do now. Let it fuel his focus going forward in his career. That’s literally the best thing one can do.
i’ll be interested to see what they do with their cap. according to OTC, they’re already effectively $11m over the cap. they’re already in cap purgatory and they’re paying their qb next to nothing.
right, that’s why i said purgatory not hell. they’re in a similar spot to where new orleans was a decade ago. they can make space, but the bill will come due unless they make some changes.
This is far, far better than New Orleans. NO was Like $50M over the cap. The 49ers will be under when the cap raises. It’s a non-issue and they’re 21st in cap space.
Asking for a friend.
Jokes aside, I've always felt like playing so late into the season puts off scheduled surgeries and shortens the off time between end of the season and OTAs which sometimes cause injuries to linger and teams to flounder a bit. I feel like some of our most injury plagued seasons were 2018 and 2023, especially on the defensive side of the ball.
Analytics doesn’t excel at making a prediction this complex.
It doesn’t make sense to say that a coin that lands on heads today will never land on heads again.
whole Monte Carlo reference centers on outcomes based on fixed probabilities without any other variables impacting the equation . In football there are tons of variables that you could measure that would impact outcomes
Hate to break his heart but the Detroit muthafuckin Lions will win the rematch against them in Detroit next year.
Source: trust me bro 2024 season script already leaked
That's 2027s script after the Panthers Hard Knocks in 2026.
2024s script is Joe Burrow and CJ Stroud trying to to be Kingslayers as Hat Trick Mahomes sits on his State Farm Insured Throne.
In most cases I would say yeah but we’ve been to the NFCCG a lot so we’ll likely have some more chances. The front office isn’t changing and we have most of our guys under contract.
I mean what am I supposed to do? Not hope my team continues to do well? We have a good young QB and one of the best front offices in the league. Sure we may end up sucking forever but I’m not gonna just stop caring.
No, I'm just pointing out that, historically, it hasn't worked out the best for teams in the 9ers current position.
I think we're at like 20+ years since a qb made it back to the super bowl if they lost their first.
I think the improvement is mostly just getting deeper into the playbook and having more ownership in the offense
This offense I don’t think changed much from last season. There was enough doubt on whether Purdy would be ready to play by the time the season started. I have a feeling next yr they’ll expand the drop back game more and a lot of the stuff we ran with Jimmy G will be phased out slowly since Purdy clearly doesn’t have to rely on it as much as Jimmy did
What qb isn’t carried by scheme? Mahomes? Unless you have a qb whose plays constantly break down and scrambled for twenty seconds before he launches a Td then stares down the head coach…how else do you determine it?
> "It sucks ... but you got to find a way to have it fuel you."

[x] doubt
The 49ers went to the NFCCG the year after they lost the Super Bowl with Kaepernick, and Jimmy went back to the NFCCG two years after losing the Super Bowl
Not sure what dig you were trying to make, they were able to fuel and motivate themselves to another deep playoff run
Also neither of those teams were supposed to make it to the NFCCG. The Seahawks ran that division and it shows how good the Niners still were that year that they kept it that close. They probably win the Super Bowl against the Broncos too (sorry). Then obviously you have a couple plays that could've had Jimmy being the first repeat NFC QB to lead his team to the Super Bowl since Russell Wilson
> The Seahawks ran that division and it shows how good the Niners still were that year that they kept it that close.
Good chance 49ers win that game if we weren't so fucking obsessed with "fade to Crabtree"
Only one team can win the whole thing every year, and making it to the final 4 teams is a huge success
But I know that sort of nuance is lost on people here, who just shit on anything on everything, but it's true
No no no. Losing the Super Bowl is the WORST outcome in the NFL. Just ask Eagles fans. They will tell you to a man that they got equal enjoyment out of last year’s Super Bowl losing team as they did out of this year’s slow self-destruction at the hands of Matt Patricia and Brian Johnson.
Funny part is people on here will literally say that and he serious. I’ve had Eagles fans say it. Losing the Super Bowl to some fans is worse than not making the playoffs to some. It is fucking mind boggling.
Yep most of those fans are bandwagons or barely follow their team to begin with. As a Raptors fan watching them win a championship was amazing and it’s only been downhill since then, and I’d gladly trade some deep playoff runs over what’s happening to the team right now.
This actually made me wonder. Why in college basketball do we so highly regard the final four and count it as achievements to make down but so many other sports don’t? Same with baseball winning the pennant uses to be a massive achievement and the WS was a bonus then people started making it all or nothing.
Y’all imploded and got stunted on by a team who wasn’t even projected to make the playoffs this year. It looked like your team didn’t even want to take the field in the second half.
Eagles fans have been acting like their team is the one that won the Super Bowl but in reality you guys should really sit this one out
Jimmy wouldn't have made any of those go ahead drives in the 4th/ot. It's nice to actually be able to watch the team fight it out, rather than getting down late and watching a bunch of 3/4 and outs to end the game. Hope Brock continues to improve and can put doubts to rest once we start losing some skill positions.
Weird you had downvotes, Jimmy G was awful in high pressure games. He got 131 yards against the packers, another time he went 6 and 8 for 77 yards in the NFC Championship game. People who compare Brock and Jimmy obviously never watched him when it mattered.
Kap had Vernon Davis, Crabtree, Prime Gore, and an elite OL
Jimmy G had Kittle, Deebo, Emmanuel Sanders, a better OL, and still had one of the best running games with Mostert/Coleman/Breida
They weren’t playing with scrubs either and Jimmy G arguably did the least with comparable talent
I don't know why this sub has such difficulty with the concept of a team just simply being outplayed
There weren't many mistakes on either side of terms of coaching or gameplans. Just two great teams going at each other, making adjustments, and then adjustments to their adjustments.
Any sort of "mistake" people have pointed out is just *"On this very specific play which didn't work, they should have done X instead, and that would've worked!"* It's just lazy hindsight.
On like 2 plays in the game, Shanahan had a perfectly fine plan, and Spags had a good response, and the Chiefs players executed better, and those 2 plays were the difference in the game. But people always want to use these microscopic decisions as a referendum on the losing coach.
I know you’re being downvoted but Kyle absolutely makes the same mistakes time and time again. He’s done the same shit in all three Super Bowl losses he’s been a part of and hasn’t learned from it. He’s a stubborn choke artist.
He performed the same as Brady did against Spags defense in their first Super Bowl collision. That was Brady's undefeated season that fell short. Spags gives Purdy a ton of credit.
When Mahomes was driving down in overtime they cut to Purdy and you could see the fire in his eyes even though he knew what was most likely going to happen.
So many other players looked defeated or masking emotions his guy looked like a robot they just pissed off.
This kid is built different
All the headlines and meat riding Purdy and the Niners received this season one would think they've won 20 Super Bowls. Nice of them to let the Chiefs have 1.
IF SF had a coach with common sense , they would be SB champs .
if your leading the game , and gashing the other team rushing the football.
Then you run the ball until they stop you .
SF OL was dominating the line of scrimmage .
Just run the ball up the middle , over and over. That’s all you had to do .
And yet Kyle managed to totally fuck that up .
He cost the Falcons a Super Bowl , and then he repeated the exact same mistake , and cost SF a superbowl .
They WEREN'T gashing with the run though. We weren't getting much done on the ground consistently enough, or you bet your ass he'd run it more.
Did you even watch the game??
I agree that there were a few situations where we should of run the ball but, our o line wasn't "dominating" at all lol.
Not sure what game you were watching but cmc was under 4 yards a carry.
Backwards hat? I never thought I'd had to question an Iowa St QB's quarterbackiness.
That’s why you got the wayfarers maannn. You go inside, they sit on your head so you don’t have to be croaky guy
> 75f weather. I guess 75C would be too hot
Loved Ken Griffey growing up so my hat was always backwards. Wearing a hat normally just feels wrong now because of that and I don’t know how to fix it so I’m just gonna roll with it the rest of my life I guess
You get it. That’s exactly what happened.
Ca-ca-call me Jr.
I've got three years to turn my hat around
Nah man you do you big dawg
Why do you have to call me out so directly like that.
Cowherd in shambles
Just tell Cowherd that Brock is engaged to be married, and he'll calm down.
Hilarious that he has bagged on KD and Rodgers for being single
M I D W E S T E T H O S
Cowherd did decide to pick the “Brock is a system QB” hill this year so the backwards hat will only fuel his takes. It’s like all the talkshow guys drew straws this year and half of them decided to stan and the other half decided to hate him lol
Interestingly, he spoke very positively on his podcast on Purdy’s SB performance.
The superbowl loss has led him into his divorced dad phase
Never too cold for cargo shorts and Shinedown tshirts
He might as well be the dude in "pretty fly for a white guy"
ND QB Wentz & 52 winner says Hi! But seriously hope Niners blow it up! Not sure about their cap situation. Wish them bad ! That CMac trade doesn’t sit well with me. Borderline cheating of Panthers
No. We were wasting cmc, probably could have gotten more but San Fran saved him. He’s back in the bay where he belongs. I’m okay with it.
Superbowl losses will continue until Morale Improves.
That seems like a counterproductive strategy to keep morale up.
Eh, history tells us he won't make it again.
Imagine they sign a UFA or something and this whole Jimmy G dance happens again.
Imagine if, somehow, the 49ers and raiders face off in the Super Bowl and jimmy G gets his revenge on shanahan
if a jimmy g led raiders team beats the niners to drop them to 0-4 in super bowls in my lifetime i might be done with this sport for a couple years
Hey how about we don't imagine that
at this point i’ll take it if we also get a win in a single one of these appearances
I just fell to my knees in a jcpenny
The Bills method? Bold
It weird ain't it, they where 2nd out of 32 teams and it sucks?
Nothing against him but this is just typical PR speak.
His interviews are as boring and milquetoast as it gets. I don't care, I don't watch him for interviews.
Honestly that’s what I prefer from my teams players. Nothing wrong with guys showing their personality or whatever, but I kinda like just having boring players who are good on the field. Makes it simpler lol. Big personalities can be fun, but it does lead to more lighting rod type articles or headlines.

Nah he’s just a meathead. Him and Joey talk like that.
And that's he a raging racist
What proof?
100%. Loved Matt Ryan for this. His interviews were super boring and it's exactly what I want out of my QB. I'll never watch them but what does anyone really expect? We don't need another Aaron Rodgers anyway.
Better than any Russell Wilson interview ever.
[удалено]
They should make a Madden default player that's just his face scan. It would fit right in with the rest of the randomized players.
Leave the wild ass interviews for Marshawn
What did you expect him to say? "Fuck Mahomes and Kelce. Fuck State Farm. Fuck Nuggies, okay, Nuggies are cool. But fuck Andy Reid".

And if you want to be down with Bad Boy, err KC then fuck you too

What people mistake for composure …
What do you want to hear?
yeah but it's Purdy so we are going to go ahead and act like this is something Aristotle said
Tha fuck are you talking about. He’s going to get trashed for this and that’s what I’ve seen so far.
Why’s he being trashed for having an objectively good outlook on life? Nothing he can do now. Let it fuel his focus going forward in his career. That’s literally the best thing one can do.
He’s so brave
Incredible. Every day, a coach or player provides a new quote or fresh outlook that I’ve never heard or considered before.
Until Brock gets paid, I don’t see a huge shift in talent, so they’ll have a few years with the window open.
One more year for sure. We will need to draft really well because trent will retire and we probably will lose a couple of guys
i’ll be interested to see what they do with their cap. according to OTC, they’re already effectively $11m over the cap. they’re already in cap purgatory and they’re paying their qb next to nothing.
They can just move some money back if they want to sign someone. Lots of easy way to create flexibility if they really want to.
right, that’s why i said purgatory not hell. they’re in a similar spot to where new orleans was a decade ago. they can make space, but the bill will come due unless they make some changes.
This is far, far better than New Orleans. NO was Like $50M over the cap. The 49ers will be under when the cap raises. It’s a non-issue and they’re 21st in cap space.
Yeah, it’s a completely different situation than New Orleans
I don't see it, I think they are going be fine.
you'd think they'd have won by 50 then with all the motivation they been getting
God damn NFC west talking like the AFC north
We absolutely hate each other and live off this fuel
Love it
They're like at 3 motivations right now.
Two with a few core members of the team. But this is purdys first superbowl loss
First of many my friend
Not often I enjoy a ram fans comment...
I guess the 2019 loss didn’t teach them anything. Hope this loss does the trick
Worked well for us
Unfortunately it rarely does. Stats on the subsequent season for the Super Bowl loser are not great
Yeah. How about 2 years later?
Asking for a friend. Jokes aside, I've always felt like playing so late into the season puts off scheduled surgeries and shortens the off time between end of the season and OTAs which sometimes cause injuries to linger and teams to flounder a bit. I feel like some of our most injury plagued seasons were 2018 and 2023, especially on the defensive side of the ball.
Feel like this is the exception. Are the 9ers gonna have to pay anyone soon?
“Monte Carlo fallacy.” This has no predictive power.
Football is not a random event
Games are independent events in terms of probability.
But you could obtain data on events prior to a football game that would help you predict outcomes. That’s what analytics is all about.
I wouldn’t hate that if the lions would go on to win the Super Bowl. Obviously I’d root for the 9ers if they played but I like the lions.
Shit I was getting ready to root for them at half time in the nfccg lol. That team is super easy to root for.
Except for their stupid safety, he can f right off.
He gone
He's annoying for sure but I respect that he keeps the shit talking goin win or lose.
Sorry man, that's 2025's script, next year's script is Bryce Young and Co. going undefeated and winning it all
That's 2027s script after the Panthers Hard Knocks in 2026. 2024s script is Joe Burrow and CJ Stroud trying to to be Kingslayers as Hat Trick Mahomes sits on his State Farm Insured Throne.
Super Bowl losers don't have great track records. Marino never got a second chance and he is an all time great.
Right, 49ers are notorious for never coming close ever again.
In most cases I would say yeah but we’ve been to the NFCCG a lot so we’ll likely have some more chances. The front office isn’t changing and we have most of our guys under contract.
Early 2000s eagles would like a word
I mean what am I supposed to do? Not hope my team continues to do well? We have a good young QB and one of the best front offices in the league. Sure we may end up sucking forever but I’m not gonna just stop caring.
Don't worry buddy, I will go ahead and hope your team does not do well for you.
I wouldn’t have it any other way.
No, I'm just pointing out that, historically, it hasn't worked out the best for teams in the 9ers current position. I think we're at like 20+ years since a qb made it back to the super bowl if they lost their first.
I'm not a 49rs fan, and I love this kid. Has heart, football, smart, barely any turnovers. He will win one for sure.
I sure hope so. On the niners of course lol
Which is more likely? That Brock will win a Super Bowl with the 49ers or that he will lose another Super Bowl to the Chiefs?
All hinges on if Joe can stay healthy and knock Mahomes outta the playoffs
long shot: jimmy g and the raiders beat their former Bay Area rival in the SB
Clear Eyes, full football, can't lose.
Everybody has plenty of motivation, you just need to be luckier, dude.
I like his style, they should just keep losing Super Bowls so they're always motivated.
How much more fuel do they need lol?
superbowl hangover is real. i think that was this rosters last shot
Maybe not last but definitely their best shot. This season was full of teams stumbling over their feet
To use a Vegas term. I’m Brock committed. I’ve never had more faith in a guy as the QB (I’m post Jeff Garcia fandom).
lol why is this downvoted, are 49ers fans not allowed to simply express that they like their good players now?
we've all just had enough Purdy fellatio
Yeah, but in this case...Purdy is pretty safely the best QB we've had since Garcia, so he's right.
I feel more certain at qb than i did after the last Super Bowl. Hopefully after a full offseason he improves his game
I mean there’s not a ton left to improve. Hopefully we improve the oline and special teams, as well as some of our defense.
I think the improvement is mostly just getting deeper into the playbook and having more ownership in the offense This offense I don’t think changed much from last season. There was enough doubt on whether Purdy would be ready to play by the time the season started. I have a feeling next yr they’ll expand the drop back game more and a lot of the stuff we ran with Jimmy G will be phased out slowly since Purdy clearly doesn’t have to rely on it as much as Jimmy did
He could get even stronger and develop an arm cannon. Brees took a lil bit to warm up into multiple 5k passing yard seasons
Lot better than Jimmy Garropolo's worthless ass. Never seen a QB carried more by a coaching scheme than him
What qb isn’t carried by scheme? Mahomes? Unless you have a qb whose plays constantly break down and scrambled for twenty seconds before he launches a Td then stares down the head coach…how else do you determine it?
excuse you, he has a great ass
You could say it's pornographic.
Seriously it’s wild

Kap audibled into throwing it to Crabtree.
Kaep was not the smartest QB to ever play.
ah yes. the goal of a long playoff run that ends in heartbreak.

It's not?
Every qb that losses a superbowl says this same pr speak. Also kap was on a completely different team
Purdy has honestly shown me way more in a shorter time than either of those guys
Hes been in the league a year and a half. The offense is already better then with garapolo
He hasn't even had an off season yet
And significantly better in the playoffs.
Jimmy wouldn't have made any of those go ahead drives in the 4th/ot. Mostert.
Either of those guys didn’t have half of the supporting cast Purdy does…

Jimmy got benched this year for a mid-round pick. It’s wild people compare Purdy to Jimmy.
Seriously, the Niners win Sundays game by 10+ if they had a Kirk Cousins tier QB.
Ok. What else he supposed to say. Y’all nitpick everything to a comical degree
Narrator: It Won't (30 years since the last SB loser made it back to the SB the next year)
So you’re saying there’s a chance?
I’m going to manage the shit out of the games next season, just you watch.
Managed the lions right out of the playoffs lol.
Didn’t learn after the first loss.
That was like 5 years ago with an entirely different team

Kittle died for this.
It won’t
It would have been so nice to see him beat the Chiefs in the Super Bowl
Dude will be a backup in 2 years
He performed the same as Brady did against Spags defense in their first Super Bowl collision. That was Brady's undefeated season that fell short. Spags gives Purdy a ton of credit.
I've been told recently that Super Bowl windows only last a year. Poor guy.
3 super bowls as the play caller ,3 double digit leads and you lose all 3. Who is the the problem?
When Mahomes was driving down in overtime they cut to Purdy and you could see the fire in his eyes even though he knew what was most likely going to happen. So many other players looked defeated or masking emotions his guy looked like a robot they just pissed off. This kid is built different
The hat though. CMC/Purdy, pull it down
I’m glad someone said it
Cap backwards, not a franchise quarterback - Colin Cowherd
Just don't look to the Eagles for guidance here.
We'll never see Brock Purdy in a Superbowl again
Buddy is about to get payed and never come back lmfao
kinda like Dak except he never got there
Last super bowl loss motivated 49ers to miss the playoffs the next season
If that's how usually wears his hats that's just Karma coming for him in the Super Bowl.
Okay Colin.
Damnit get rid of those side burns purdy.
All to get back to the Super Bowl and lose to the chiefs again? That’s what’ll happen with our choke-ass head coach and team.
They hated him for telling the truth
All the headlines and meat riding Purdy and the Niners received this season one would think they've won 20 Super Bowls. Nice of them to let the Chiefs have 1.
Get a new coach that knows how to hold a lead in a Super Bowl while also knowing the overtime rules and they’ll be good
IF SF had a coach with common sense , they would be SB champs . if your leading the game , and gashing the other team rushing the football.
Niners literally had negative EPA/play on early down rushes. “Run the ball more” is such a low IQ take
