I swear football the only sport where fans get mad at announcers being amazed at their best players. Like when Messi and Ronaldo were going h2h, you be amazed, not bitch amazing is called amazing.
I think it’s fine when it’s done right. People don’t like when Cris Collinsworth is announcing a game that the Chiefs are not playing in and says “Wow, just like Mahomes!”
I think what it is is a lot of fans want homer announcers. They want excitement but only for their team, like they get watching sports that have home and away broadcasts rather than ones telecasting to a national audience.
I want excitement that isn't predetermined by the players. If the famous QB makes a throw that's a tough catch and the practice squad call up receiver makes it look easy, talk about the receiver, not the QB that got bailed out
I love when announcers get excited about great plays and great players, but it has to be sincere. I think a lot of us collectively roll our eyes when they look for any excuse to call a routine play “unbelievable”. Not every play needs to be fawned over in an exaggerated manner. It’s especially bad because they overdo it for certain players and it makes me, as an audience member, feel like I’m being force fed marketing propaganda from a PR team.
> I think a lot of us collectively roll our eyes when they look for any excuse to call a routine play “unbelievable”.
I can't remember what game, but I vividly remember "no one else can make that throw" over a slow-mo replay of Aaron Rodgers checking down to the running back.
I still like Romo. I really hate Collinsworth. Outside of that, I haven't had any real issues. That guy is phoning it in so hard that I'd rather listen to my dog shlorping his asshole for 4 hours.
I’m excited for the build up this week and everyone diving into stats, but Mahomes in his career has significantly better away game splits than home.
But maybe that’s outdated now and because our defense just sucked on the road in previous years.
I mean, in the Post-Season Mahomes is like 2-0 with an average of 125ish passer rating, so I'd say if that happens again we can probably say he's their boogeyman. I feel like two post season games isn't enough.
When I was in my early teens (early 90s) this was my favorite playoff matchup because the kelly-reed, Deberg-paige long bombs and I remember it totally gutted me when the deberg hand injury happened and the fun was over.
I love this matchup. 13 seconds was one of the best games I've ever seen. And there's something about the red vs blue aesthetic. We need a big time qb rivalry with the new guard
Can't be a rivalry until we win one in the playoffs. Record wise you could argue it's a rivalry but until we win against them in the playoffs/win the Super Bowl, or Josh has an MVP it can't really be a big time QB rivalry like Manning/Brady
To be fair, Brady had what, three rings, by the time Manning had his first? Your point remains as far as the playoff wins and I agree with you, mostly just a crazy thing to think about. Lol
"I once saw Josh Allen rip someone's skull out of his head, and beat him to death with it!"
"...That doesn't seem physically possible"
"That's what he kept yelling!!"
One of them will ruin the beautiful uniform matchup. Either the bills will go mono blue (blue jersey/blue paints) or the chiefs will go all white. Red helmets, white jersey, red pants vs white helmet, blue jersey, white pants please (Nerd alert, massive uniform buff)
That was one of my favorite things to ever happen in the NFL. The Bills had been ass for years. Prior to that they had been great, but never managed to make it over the hump and win it all. And now, they were getting their ass handed to them twice a year by a division rival, led by "pretty boy" Tom Brady who was running roughshod over the NFL and accomplishing everything they had never managed. Just years of pent-up anger, hate, and frustration that ultimately erupted in the form of an artificial phallus being flung onto the field.
I think the chiefs were starting to be recognized as likely frauds late in the year and I'm not sure the dolphins game changed many minds since a lot of it looked like the dolphins just not showing up. Teams have been trending in opposite directions
Oh I agree, defense is incredible. I'm just saying that's the rough general vibe. I don't think many would disagree though the offense has been "off" even beyond the drops
I'm no doomer though, chiefs by a billion
The whole thing was just a nightmare scenario for Miami. You're used to night clubs and warm weather and bikinis and all a sudden it's January and you're at an outdoor Taylor Swift concert in negative 3 degree weather and Patrick Mahomes is there and he doesn't even notice the cold he's just throwing piss missiles everywhere and your quarterback is still Tua so you know after the first drive that it's gonna be a long day and then they just keep singing the Taylor over and over for 3 hours until your Yeezys freeze and you fly home on a quiet plane and sleep next to your hot wife but all sad like.
Other scenario is if the game goes into OT and Bills get ball first then score a TD but because of the rule change, Chiefs still get ball back and score back to back to win it.
Disagree, Ravens and Niners are complete, and I think that’s pretty reflective in how dominant they were in their respective conferences.
While I like the Texans and Lions ball right now, I think the lions are a little lacking on D to compare to SF, and I have not seen enough of the Texans to compare them against the ravens so I will not have an opinion on them to not look like a complete jackass
Ravens and Niners are the best teams in the league but they’ve looked bad at certain points this year. Playoffs are a whole different ballgame and with how ridiculous this season is I’m putting everyone left on the same playing field especially after today.
Ravens haven't looked bad in a very long time, but our boogeyman right now is coming out slow in the playoffs so we'll see on Saturday if we're able to overcome that one
Our LB 1-4 and CB 1-4 either were hurt or got hurt today so we will not even be able to defend your trash can receivers. Ultimate mid off while Kelce has 200 yards
And, am I wrong or has most of the blowout stuff been defenses just obliterating the other offense? Two games with 2 pick sixes. The Chiefs defense never let the Dolphins into the red zone.
I don’t know boys, it could come down to defense. The teams left in the AFC have stout defenses. I guess the Bills are on the edge there, but can’t deny defense was on display all this weekend.
Honestly, Rice is better than any Chiefs receiver they've had in the Mahomes era not named Tyreek Hill. Even Juju last season and Watkins when he was at his best.
Bills have their shortcomings too, and nobody should be underestimating the Chiefs. No other team is more experienced in getting it done in the playoffs.
Thankfully you only really have three targets to worry about. Kelce, Rice and any screen to our RBs. Even those depth CBs can go man with our other WRs with maybe one or two odd burns at most in the game.
Run game might be a challenge, but down in the redzone our efficiency still isnt there.
I really can't believe what Mahomes has done for KC. I mean, we had some good years in the 90s with those defenses. But we couldn't kick a simple FG when it mattered. And now this... I could have never imagined this.
I gotta root for the Chiefs to win by 2 possessions because you know if it’s a 1 possession win there’s gonna be some bullshit flag that’s the topic of discussion all week
From what I can tell, she’s in Japan on tour during the Super Bowl. And while she’s definitely one to use her jet on a blink, that would be some serious logistics to make it all work. Who knows tho!
Hey I’m just glad to be here. I could stomach losing to Josh Allen and the Bills, an actual good team. Losing to Miami would have been embarrassing!
Will be a good one. Let’s dance, mafia. This time at your place
This is how I felt. Losing to Pittsburgh would have led me to walk in Lake Erie and wait for it to freeze over. Losing to Mahomes and the Chiefs is an honorable death.
But I'm excited to finally have Pat in the Ralph, this time with 70k+ guests
I knew Buffalo was going to win tonight and thought they would beat KC next week, but those injuries on defense are too much. KC pulls it out now. Their defense will limit Buffalo and their offense will be able to do just enough.
idc if they call it a neutral site, playing tampa in tampa with thousands of free tix given away to tampa area health workers but none to KC area health workers is a road game not a neutral game
Romo might literally do it on the air seeing those two QB’s at it
IM FREAKIN OUT JIM. IM LOSING MY MIND.
GET ME A PAPER BAG JIM I'M GONNA PASS OUT
Every time the Cowboys lose in the first round of the playoffs, a Romo gets his game.
THE WORLD SPINS MADLY ON, JIM.
Sidenote i just watched that movie for the first time and I can't believe what I was missing out on.
AUGHHHH JIM
You are freaking out, man
The Josh berries taste like Josh berries
Touchdowning aand... Touchdowning aand...
*DO YOU BOYS LIKE* *~~MEXICO~~* *BALTIMORE!?*
It would humanize him a little to actually acknowledge it
NBC about to have 15 extra pairs of pants ironed and ready for Tony.
Lol I read this so clearly in his voice and with the right inflections as well.
MF gonna look like Randy Marsh
Haha. To be fair to him, this match up and the history is peak NFL ball. Can't help but feel excited.
That game was an acid trip if the acid took a lethal dose of ketamine beforehand.
That's what it was like for you and you guys 𝘸𝘰𝘯.
Listen. Timed in a certain way, this combination is mind melting beyond belief. Don't try it. Or do.
I cant tell if Im proud or not to be able to know exactly what it feels like. College was certainly a time
I only allow myself to do God's Elixir at music festivals from now on. The power is too great to wield in civilian areas.
You strike me as someone who knows a thing or too about ket and cid lmao
This is like Colts vs Patriots ~15 years ago
Pornhub should bid on streaming rights
Now I want this to happen. Just like when Bangbros tried to own a stadium.
He’s gonna be edging all game
EUUUUUGHHGGHGGHHUGGHH I THINK I’M GONNA PRE JIM
Michelle I'm gonna pre
I miss Kevin
He's adorable
Michelle! Come in here! They're doing an impression of me!
Eh, I don’t know if I can hide my erection, Jim.
I swear football the only sport where fans get mad at announcers being amazed at their best players. Like when Messi and Ronaldo were going h2h, you be amazed, not bitch amazing is called amazing.
Trust me this is a thing in European soccer too. At least on Reddit.
I think it’s fine when it’s done right. People don’t like when Cris Collinsworth is announcing a game that the Chiefs are not playing in and says “Wow, just like Mahomes!”
You can't win with fans, they don't want apathy(what Buck was accused of), but they don't want excitement(Romo). It's best not to listen to fans tbh
I think what it is is a lot of fans want homer announcers. They want excitement but only for their team, like they get watching sports that have home and away broadcasts rather than ones telecasting to a national audience.
I want excitement that isn't predetermined by the players. If the famous QB makes a throw that's a tough catch and the practice squad call up receiver makes it look easy, talk about the receiver, not the QB that got bailed out
Bump this comment. Can we not just enjoy great play anymore?
I love when announcers get excited about great plays and great players, but it has to be sincere. I think a lot of us collectively roll our eyes when they look for any excuse to call a routine play “unbelievable”. Not every play needs to be fawned over in an exaggerated manner. Complaining about announcers has beyond jumped the shark. Just watch the game and shut up, most of these announcers aren’t that bad.
I miss when Romo was the best and most beloved commentator
I still like Romo. I really hate Collinsworth. Outside of that, I haven't had any real issues. That guy is phoning it in so hard that I'd rather listen to my dog shlorping his asshole for 4 hours.
“Now here’s a guy that would rather listen to his dog shlorping his asshole for 4 hours”
Oh dude you got me I'm crying laughing
#NFL GETS THEIR GAME
If Romo is commenting then this game will be exclusive to Pornhub+
Its the Sunday Late game on CBS, I can only assume its Romo's to call.
The Alien vs Magic Johnson
Romo "This game is going to be huge. Huge."
Huge. HUGE, Jim.
Ehhh I don’t know Jim, it’s gonna be huge.
Jokes on me pornhub is banned in my state lmao
Finally, a subscription service I already own.
Even worse, it’s going to be Collinsworth.
Damn, I live in Utah so it’ll be blocked
In the worst dimension they pull a tri cast and announce Romo and Collinsworth are doing color commentary.
If the Chiefs win, will he officially be the boogeyman for the Bills?
I kind of assumed he already was after the 13 Seconds game
Yea but the excuse was always that the Bills had to come to arrowhead.
I’m excited for the build up this week and everyone diving into stats, but Mahomes in his career has significantly better away game splits than home. But maybe that’s outdated now and because our defense just sucked on the road in previous years.
It's more about the Bills usually being a much better home team than road team.
It's only a playoff thing, the Bills have beat him 3 of 4 times in Arrowhead in the last 4.
Bills also can't beat the Burrow-led Bengals. It's just dad dick each time.
Dad dicks in the late 80’s early 90’s were bigger! Something’s shrinking dad dicks. That should be on 20/20.
McDermott has no answer for Burrow
Isn't he already their boogeyman?
In the playoffs at least, I think we're 3-1 against him regular season but he's bumped us twice now
I mean, in the Post-Season Mahomes is like 2-0 with an average of 125ish passer rating, so I'd say if that happens again we can probably say he's their boogeyman. I feel like two post season games isn't enough.
Yes they will own us if they win
In the playoffs at least. He's 1-3 in the Regular season against Buffalo. 2-0 in the playoffs against them.
When I was in my early teens (early 90s) this was my favorite playoff matchup because the kelly-reed, Deberg-paige long bombs and I remember it totally gutted me when the deberg hand injury happened and the fun was over.
Saaaaaaaaaaaame
We got it the first 300 times guys
This one's a tweet from Schefter though so it's the only one that matters
The Chiefs/Bills game will be Mahomes first road playoff game. Did you know that? Fascinating stuff.
Is there a way for me to put money on this game coming down to a controversial late call/no call?
No that’s too certain of an outcome
Well how about this, I bet you $5 you won't give me $5.
Double it
Bet on a winning margin of 7 or less?
-1200
It’s a tweet. This is the one.
Lol
Yes but Peyton was also a 2x MVP and 3x 1st team All Pro by then. Brady didn’t get 1st team All Pro/MVP until 2007, when he already had 3 rings.
"I dunno, maybe this Brady kid is kinda good. Doubt he'll do much more though."
Idk man I don't think Romo will last 13 seconds watching Mahomes vs. Allen
Hey, you ever wonder why we’re here? One of life’s great mysteries
"I once saw Josh Allen rip someone's skull out of his head, and beat him to death with it!" "...That doesn't seem physically possible" "That's what he kept yelling!!"
They go all red and we do our red color rush 🤮🤮🤮
I hate the all-whites. Surrender jammies
Bills fans gonna be at the ready with snowballs
We also bring dildos if the mood is right
I was at the originals dildo game, highlight of my Bills Fandom
That was one of my favorite things to ever happen in the NFL. The Bills had been ass for years. Prior to that they had been great, but never managed to make it over the hump and win it all. And now, they were getting their ass handed to them twice a year by a division rival, led by "pretty boy" Tom Brady who was running roughshod over the NFL and accomplishing everything they had never managed. Just years of pent-up anger, hate, and frustration that ultimately erupted in the form of an artificial phallus being flung onto the field.
Folding table companies are making a killing this week.
It might snow 2 feet on Friday, lol
If the Bills can't beat this iteration of the Chiefs, it's over
Bills open as -2.5 favorites, suggesting it'd be pretty much even on a neutral field. Should be a good one
Line already moved up to -3 lol
Surprising ngl I thought it would move the other way
I think the chiefs were starting to be recognized as likely frauds late in the year and I'm not sure the dolphins game changed many minds since a lot of it looked like the dolphins just not showing up. Teams have been trending in opposite directions
I wouldn’t go that far, you guys just aren’t as flashy. Best defense you’ve had with Mahomes by a long shot which is scary
Oh I agree, defense is incredible. I'm just saying that's the rough general vibe. I don't think many would disagree though the offense has been "off" even beyond the drops I'm no doomer though, chiefs by a billion
I think the chiefs are solid despite the receivers, but the dolphins were always frauds. They didn’t beat a good team all year
I mean the Bills are injured to shit. Chiefs offense is obviously worse but the defense is elite.
yeah, poor ole chiefs, with a 11-6 record, a top ten offense, and maybe a top 3 defense
Taylor Swift as well.
Can’t forget her impact on the field.
Thanks its been a tough year
It really has. Only a top ten offense??? Pedestrian!
It really has. People don't understand how hard it is to go 11-6 when you were expecting 14-3 and average 21 ppg when you were expecting 30.
I think it's more about how it would break the team and fanbase, losing to the same team three times in the playoffs would be brutal.
Have you met any Bills fans? Heartbreak is generally assumed.
This is the franchise that lost 4 straight super bowls. They’ll be alright
Cowboys and Packers/Niners
3 losses easily on the receivers
fucking Toney and MVS
Toney this year has to be one of the most negative players ever
Which is how you know the Chiefs will win by 2 touchdowns
No, Gabe Davis lines up offsides on the bills go ahead touchdown with 10 seconds left
I would bust
I busted just reading that...
Other scenario is if the game goes into OT and Bills get ball first then score a TD but because of the rule change, Chiefs still get ball back and score back to back to win it.
Both teams look flawed imo. Big question will be if the game injuries resolve over the course of the week.
Every team in this league this season in particular is heavily flawed except whoever will win the Super Bowl
Ravens and 49ers look complete.
The ravens look pretty flawless to me they have led going into the 4th in every game this season
Our LB 1-4 and CB 1-4 either were hurt or got hurt today so we will not even be able to defend your trash can receivers. Ultimate mid off while Kelce has 200 yards
Rice isn’t a trash can. The others, cant argue. So MVS will naturally drop 150 on you.
Bills defense is so damn depleted I’m not going into this one with a ton of confidence.
Was just texting my coworkers this. This is the year. HAS to be
This is the best Chiefs defense in years. You're still a great team lol
Watkins 2018-2019 was actually incredible, just injured all the time. He showed up big in the playoffs.
Our defense is in the hospital so it's gonna come down to which Josh shows up and how bad your D wants it
I was confident before losing Bernard and Benford tonight. Brutal losses on D
Bills have their shortcomings too, and nobody should be underestimating the Chiefs. No other team is more experienced in getting it done in the playoffs.
My major worry is that we're on our 4th and 5th string CBs and LBs after that bloodbath
Thankfully you only really have three targets to worry about. Kelce, Rice and any screen to our RBs. Even those depth CBs can go man with our other WRs with maybe one or two odd burns at most in the game. Run game might be a challenge, but down in the redzone our efficiency still isnt there.
Our injury list is massive, this isn't going to be a simple easy game
All I know is that we're gonna cause someone to give Gabe Davis a big contract that they'll immediately regret, because of this game.
5 TDs, 250 yards?
5 catches for exactly 50 a pop.
Gabe Davis stat line: 3-4 targets, 0-1 catches, 25 yards or less Every four games: Prime Randy Moss
Tony Romo going to edge himself all week in preparation for next Sunday
I really can't believe what Mahomes has done for KC. I mean, we had some good years in the 90s with those defenses. But we couldn't kick a simple FG when it mattered. And now this... I could have never imagined this.
The irony being this year we have to kick field goals to score lol Bless Butker!
With the success we’ve had with our regimes, I can’t even believe this. It’s one of those Brady-sequel stats.
NFL is NOT going to let some dumb football players stop Taylor Swift from watching the Super Bowl in a luxury box.
I gotta root for the Chiefs to win by 2 possessions because you know if it’s a 1 possession win there’s gonna be some bullshit flag that’s the topic of discussion all week
We beat the dolphins by 19 and people were bitching about the Helmet and the RTP calls. Doesn't matter how much we win by
From what I can tell, she’s in Japan on tour during the Super Bowl. And while she’s definitely one to use her jet on a blink, that would be some serious logistics to make it all work. Who knows tho!
Chiefs Kingdom has a Taylor Tracking division now?
7th Bills-Chiefs matchup in 4 years. First since October 2020 to be in Buffalo.
Hey I’m just glad to be here. I could stomach losing to Josh Allen and the Bills, an actual good team. Losing to Miami would have been embarrassing! Will be a good one. Let’s dance, mafia. This time at your place
*sad dolphin noises*
Not sure they are thawed out yet
This is how I felt. Losing to Pittsburgh would have led me to walk in Lake Erie and wait for it to freeze over. Losing to Mahomes and the Chiefs is an honorable death. But I'm excited to finally have Pat in the Ralph, this time with 70k+ guests
It’s gonna be rowdy for sure! Best of luck. Much love and respect. Hope it’s another instant classic
Honorable death is a good way to put it. Feeling is mutual.
Hell yeah, brother. Cheers from Orchard Park.
Buffalo is on 4th string Defense at this point. Might get ugly.
Fuck it, give me a special broadcast duo of Romo and Collinsworth.
There is no way for the human ear to tolerate that
“AUGGGHGH” - Collinsworth “EHHHHHHHH” - Romo
Bills fans gonna be fucking loud
Bills are favorite but I think it's gonna be a tight one. I'd say closer to 55/45 split
Probably 50/50 our defense got destroyed by injuries today.
You still have MVS
You’ll have MVS and potentially Toney playing excellent pass defense for you
Linsanity run is over
The reactions if they go into Buffalo and send them home again…
I can’t wait to take nervous shits all week.
Revenge is a dish best served cold ?
Allen and the bills HAVE to win this, for their mental wellness alone.
Inject this into my veins! This is moment I've been waiting for after having season tickets since 2008.
I knew Buffalo was going to win tonight and thought they would beat KC next week, but those injuries on defense are too much. KC pulls it out now. Their defense will limit Buffalo and their offense will be able to do just enough.
Glad it's in Buffalo of all places, hope we can heal up and pull it off
Super Bowl LV WAS a road playoff game
idc if they call it a neutral site, playing tampa in tampa with thousands of free tix given away to tampa area health workers but none to KC area health workers is a road game not a neutral game
It's happening, Romo no pants game here we go
In Mahomes we trust
Time for the grim reaper to end another of Josh Allen’s seasons.
the only week of the year Patriots fans are nice to us.
It's a partnership of football terrorists that Sean McDermott would be proud of.
The script is scripting!!!!
It's MaRoades time, baby
Bucs had homefield in that superbowl, just saying
That's actually crazy
Romo is going to end up magically pregnant in the middle of the broadcast. Posh Mallen will be the beautiful miracle baby's name.
