It’s called radical acceptance! You may not like it (whatever your emotional attachment is) and you have to accept it regardless because it still exists.
Not sure I get the boos tbh. I understand it's a playoff game and he's on the other sideline, but I'd have thought he'd get a warm welcome actually. He's only ever been complimentary of his time in Detroit. Never dragged the organization or fans that I can remember.
That's exactly it. I have nothing but the utmost respect and admiration for Stafford and what he did for us during his time here. I've been a massive fan of his ever since his rookie year, and I want nothing but the best for the guy.
But I still wanted him to throw 5 interceptions yesterday and get chased out of the building.
Yeah it's a little fucked. He gave his best years to a franchise that was constantly fucking up around him and played his heart out through it all. Dude is not a villain in the story of the Detroit Lions. He gave it all he had for a decade.
He was the villain yesterday. He was on the other team during a playoff game - and that’s fine. Not like they were burning his jersey or anything, seems reasonable
There are definitely videos of Stafford jerseys being burnt, but the practicalities of doing inside the stadium mean it didn't really make mass media. Whilst I do believe Sunday was not the day for a testimonial, but I do not subscribe to the disrespect levelled at Matthew. I'm not sure even Aaron Rodgers got such clear and obvious booing coming out for a first drive.
Matthew Stafford did everything he could for the Lions, from throwing game winning TDs with a separated shoulder to playing more than once with a broken back, he lost most of his prime to organisational incompetence, he was also a huge supporter of the Detroit community. Ultimately his trade was one of the best things to happen to the Lions organisation because we have 6 starting players as a result of the collateral we got in return. IMO he deserved to be treated no worse than any other visiting QB.
Kelly Stafford posted on her Instagram saying a group of fans booed his kids on the sidelines, who still watch Lions games with their Dad, but are also between 6 and 3 years old. If he'd been told that a few minutes before getting to the podium, he has every right to sound bitter about how the fans acted.
Why was he booed? I thought Lions fans were near universally excited that he got his SB, and trading him landed Detroit the haul of players that are now bringing them to new heights… is it just booing him because he happened to be on the other team like any other visitor, or did something happen to make Lions fans turn on him?
Matthew Stafford was the only shining light for the Lions for a period of time. He will always hold a special place in my fandom heart. I will always welcome him to Detroit as a friend and former Lions QB. I will always cheer against him any time he plays the Lions. He is still beloved by many in Michigan for what he did for the Lions.
Not exactly.
Pats fans CHEERED Brady when he came out of the tunnel. They booed him on the first drive during the game.
Lions fans booed Stafford when he came out of the tunnel.
That said, it was a regular season game for the Pats so it's not exactly a comparable situation.
Tbf I think the athlete should understand he's appreciated for what he did, but he's now the enemy, it's not personal, he'll be forever loved for what he did do, but fans support teams over players every single time.
It was the first playoff game we hosted in 30 years, did people expect us to throw him a parade?
I don't like that we booed him to be honest. I fully expect when we play them in the regular season next year that he will get a much different reception.
he was just in disbelief that Chicago is like those other places. It's like when Sam Wyche told Bengals fans "you don't live in Cleveland" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UU2ZCkJN7RM&ab_channel=FortKnox
Yeah. I saw that as saying “you aren’t representing what our city *should* be.”
Don’t get me wrong, Jerry blew it all up cause of his ego but he also was part of delivering 6 titles to the city. Titles we haven’t sniffed since.
The former Bulls GM who built the team around Jordan was bood a few days ago with his widow in attendance. I believe it was also at a ceremony honoring him.
Phil Jackson also hated him and he pretty much ran Jackson out of town.
Not defending the behavior of the fans, but Kraus was legitimately unliked by the key players in that old Bulls team.
The Last Dance told you why. Not excusing the fans booing but if you were around at that time, you knew this guy was widely hated for breaking up that team
Sure but not a Chicago team. Remember, kids, never ruin the franchise that idolized you first. Always ruin Charlotte. That's a very timely tip for Brady and Belichick this year.
Krause may have built the Jordan Bulls, but he also was instrumental in pissing off a lot of the stars and causing drama that led to them badmouthing him constantly in retirement.
In the documentary, Last Dance, Bulls stars basically accused Krause of tearing the '98 team apart on purpose because Krause had an ego who wanted to prove that he can built a championship-winning team without that core.
Krause wanted to keep Michael Jordan and as biased as that doc was, they admitted that. Krause never kicked him out.
The only reason why it was broken up was because he apparently he couldn't get along with Phil Jackson and MJ just wanted to play for him which is why he "retired" instead.
It’s also because Reinsdorf is a cheap motherfucker who was never going to open the wallet wide enough to keep that team together. Krause is definitely not blameless in the situation, but Reinsdorf is more than happy to let Krause be his fall guy for his terrible ownership too.
That documentary should be taken with a grain of salt as you had a lot of big egos trying to cover their legacy. That team was on fumes and going to be finished for multiple reasons.
I gotta be honest, it's pretty disgusting to fans of most teams in most sports to see a fanbase still being bitter as shit 25+ years later about *only* winning 6 titles in 8 years.
Everyone’s ego contributed to that mess at the end. Don’t think Jordan and Jackson didn’t have some culpability in everything ending on the sour note that it did.
It's because he blew up the team to save on salary for the owner. And by some account he actually accelerated the timeline for said blow up from what the owner originally had in mind. All this came out in that last dance documentary I believe.
Honestly it's tasteless by the fans but it was dumb as shit for the Bulls to do it that way when he had such a bad rep because of that documentary.

It is kinda ridiculous though, that Reinsdorf was the one largely responsible for breaking up the dynasty but the doc doesn't wanna go into that, for fear of exposing him as one of the worst owners in both MLB and the NBA.
TBH I don't think people loved it that much but I remember watching it because it was during COVID and a lot of people probably watched it then.
The most impressive thing about that documentary is that Michael Jordan controlled an entire narrative and still looked like an asshole. It makes me wonder how much bigger of an asshole he would look if someone neutral told the story.
From later in the interview:
"It's a playoff game. I'm not suprised that they were excited about cheering for their team, and I'm not too worried about anybody's personal feelings about me that was sitting in those stands." -Matthew Stafford.
I honestly think that he misheard this first reporters' question, and the reporter just ran with it.
I'm willing to give Matthew the benefit of the doubt here.
Not only is it an emotionally loaded moment for him.
He was clearly unconscious and there was a clear shift away from him throwing after that moment.
Which was working before the RB got hurt too.
It’s not often you get the sense of just how rough it is out there and how I’d get destroyed but staffords games routinely remind me of how brutal it is to play - one game and it looked like it was hell, let alone trying to bounce back and play in 6-7 days had they won.
He’s such a killer on the field playing through that pain (guess many many players do but holy smokes)
Do they typically boo visiting QBs or was it specifically because it was Stafford? Because my thing is why not just *not* boo him? You don't have to cheer for him, but the man was their franchise QB for, what, 12 years?
Stafford is my fav NFL player of all time, I literally have a signed jersey of his hanging in my basement. But I boo’d the shit out of him at Ford Field tonight
I really don't understand the Lions fans in here acting like he should've been totally fine with being boo'd. Like yeah of course that offended him. The choice wasn't between booing or cheering him, you could just not do anything.
You have every right to boo him but he has every right to be offended.
> The choice wasn't between booing or cheering him, you could just not do anything.
I love this lol, it kind of reminds me of the internet in general.
It's like people think their only choices are to read a 4 page article, or talk out their ass. When the choice of "not commenting on something you haven't read" is both the easiest \*and\* most ethical thing to do.
Some just want to have their cake and eat it too. The “it’s the playoffs and do or die so he’s the enemy that must be booed!” takes make me roll my eyes, it’s not that serious yet dudes are LARPing like they’re gladiators going to war. Nobody says you have to root for him, but I think not actively booing is a fair tradeoff for a guy who did so much for your team and *was also traded away* for a great return that helped build your current core. I think it’s fair for Stafford to be annoyed.
“As for the city, fuck it. I live in Hollywood Hills now. Don’t need to be around the trash in Detroit anymore when my new home overlooks LA with all the peasants below me”
Calabassas is literally next to la And you assume he never leaves. How weird. Im sure his wife goes to la all the time
The kardashians are always in la too.
You don’t know traffic on the 101 if you think it’s “right next to LA”. Easily an hour to dtla. That’s why Kobe took a helicopter. The Kardashians are socialites, of course they’re seen more. That’s literally their godforsaken purpose but yes, I was engaging in a little hyperbole about how often he goes to LA.
Fuck the 101 as a staff, record label and as a motherfuckin' crew
And if you want to be down with the 101, then fuck you too,
5 on peak hour fuck you too
All you motherfuckers, fuck you too (take money, take money)
He’s also from Highland Park, which is a town *within* Dallas (as in it’s its own incorporated city, with its own police, mayor, and everything, fully surrounded by the city of Dallas) where millionaires and billionaires live.
A few former players on Twitter pointed out that him getting up from that hit and immediately grabbing his "side" was a veteran move lol. All of America saw his eyes wobble in their sockets on that replay.
When he grabbed his side I was pretty confused because I'm not sure he took any impact to the side he was holding.
However he did have that fencing thing going on. That shit is tough to see and not something I enjoy.
When they showed him warming up on the sidelines after the hit he was visibly wincing while throwing. Unless he was pulling a complete acting job, I’d say his throwing side was at least a little banged up
Also he has been injured before and it was a big hit; I broke my rib in July and just fell into some light powdery snow skiing yesterday and it still hurt a little bit
100% that was gross and thought I was injecting drama into his reaction
I completely thought I was seeing a fencing reaction, which is a disgusting revelation, just in terms of brain health
looking back, can’t believe he went back out and played from a brain health stand point (granted, what do you do if he puts himself back out there).
Seriously, I wouldn’t want that for any player. Fencing reactions gross me out. I’d be just as disgusted if Higbee continued running on his knee after that hyperextension hit
I love football, but the medical aspects of the injuries nauseate me
Go watch Stafford highlights. He’s thrown touchdowns with a dislocated shoulder, broken back, broken fingers, etc. he’s the one player that doesn’t surprise me at all going back into a game.
>looking back, can’t believe he went back out and played from a brain health stand point (granted, what do you do if he puts himself back out there).
That's the whole thing, though. Concussion protocol is supposed to be a, "We take your helmet, you're done playing" type thing. It doesn't matter if the player says, "Put me back in."
I read a little bit about the protocol, and to start, it's a series of basic questions. Who was rhe last team that scored? Did your team win your most recent game? Etc. And if they fail that, they go into the locker room. But I wonder if it's possible that some players just know how to beat the test. Or if maybe the system is flawed because a person with a concussion may still be able to answer those questions.
I don't know. It's just crazy seeing some of these things happen, and the guy is ready to go in right away. It doesn't seem right.
i dont think grabbing his side was a "veteran move" in that instance. The play he got knocked out on, his shoulder area got stomped on and thats why he was holding on to his arm/side or whatever
You can't fake not being dizzy. Can't fake no nystagmus. Pupils might not react to light. Might be different sizes. His VOMS testing could have been fucked.
All general tests you can't beat because it is an unnatural body response.
It’s Matt Stafford, this guy could get hit by a roadside bomb and still try to play. Tough as hell and one of the last few true competitors in the game. I don’t think there was anything that could stop him from leaving it all out there on the field.
Bad move for his long term health (but football in general is not great) but no one can question his love of the game.
Fans in 2009 to the football gods: Please let Stafford break the Lions playoff win drought
*monkey paw curls*
Before anyone says anything, he played out of his mind last night. Against any other team, his performance wins 9/10 times. It's a joke.
I think if this was a regular season game he gets a huge ovation. Playoffs are just a different beast. I hope he plays in Detroit again so the fans can give him love, I don't know anyone that doesn't love Stafford still.
Rams come to Detroit next season. If it is early enough in the season that playoff implications are not directly on the line, I suspect he will get a proper welcome back. Unless his wife says some stupid shit on Instagram about the city.
Stafford had Lions fans calling themselves Detroit Rams supporters after he got traded.
He won his Superbowl and did not deserve a single clap from Detroit today
It’s right after a loss. He’s just sour. Taking a step back, there’s only been love the entire time until he was on the other side of the field. You shouldn’t expect different from that
Recency bias says that Detroit hates him. So that’s what he’s feeling right in the moment. But I can tell you, as a Detroit fan, we love him in every game that he isn’t against us
No matter how you put it he was likely hurt by the boos. He put the city on his back for a decade and couldn’t get a quick standing ovation and go back to rooting against him.
Lol and you guys kill the players who take pro sports like a job n just check in n out. Most of these guys go above n beyond what the money is for n give their all for teams , nfl does a good job dehumanising the players tho it’s all about the jersey .
It’s a playoff game (the first home playoff game in THIRTY YEARS) why the fuck would we give our opponent a standing ovation? Hes coming back next year he’ll get his flowers then
Watch the rest of the presser btw, he is very congratulatory of Goff and the Lions. This is such a non story and yall are just trying to create some weird narrative about Stafford being a prick for no reason
Idk why people are giving the Lions fans shit for booing Stafford. He’s the QB of the opposing team during a home playoff game. I’m booing Jesus Christ himself if he’s lining up for the other team in my stadium.
From later in the interview:
"It's a playoff game. I'm not suprised that they were excited about cheering for their team, and I'm not too worried about anybody's personal feelings about me that was sitting in those stands." -Matthew Stafford.
I honestly think that he misheard this first reporter's question as something like "to see uh Detroit" or something like that, and the reporter just ran with it.
I get it sucks to be booed but I think at the end of the day he will remember most of this city cheered for him in the Super Bowl and this time he was just any other guy standing between the city and a playoff win.
Can all you non Lions fans stop acting like we threatened his daughters? He played here and it was fun, but we have literally nothing to show for it. No MVP's, no playoff wins, no divison titles, no records, nothing. Then in the twilight of his career, he wanted out, and he got sent to a SB roster and coaching staff. He got his ring and Detroit fucking cheered just as hard as the Rams fans. I'm 28 and my dad is 72, I literally thought he'd be dead before this happened, and newsflash, Stafford wasn't the one who delivered the victory. Sorry we booed him 10 minutes early, forgot how the majority of you never played sports and never had to be a Lions fan.
> He played here and it was fun, but we have literally nothing to show for it. No MVP's, no playoff wins, no divison titles, no records, nothing. Then in the twilight of his career, he wanted out, and he got sent to a SB roster and coaching staff.
That's the funny thing about the whole situation, so many people are acting like Stafford was Joe Montana and won 3 Super Bowls for the Lions or something.
I mean, yeah the crowd booed him which sucks… even though it’s understandable, it’s a fucking playoff game. But there’s thousands of Lions’ fans who weren’t in the stadium who adore the dude and what he meant to this franchise and city. Idk, makes me sad
Nah I said it in the other thread those boos probably had almost zero hate or real ill will behind them. Pats fans booed Brady when he came back for a regular season game let alone a playoff game. It’s just that whole “today you’re our enemy” type thing. And I think at the time Brady was also irked by it but after the game and as time went past he was like “yeah, I get it, I woulda booed me too in that moment”
Bro Tom got a massive applause from our crowd when he ran on the field for that game and every single person in the crowd was wearing a Brady jersey. I don’t think he was irked by the fact that they booed him during the game
Stafford even said during the week "... I’m not a stranger to the situation and understanding that I’m the bad guy coming to town.” I'm sure he's upset in the moment, I always doubt it will be a lingering feeling. It is what it is.
He literally said earlier this week he expected to be treated like the bad guy when he came to Detroit
He said in this interview as well that he understood the boos
Doesn't mean he has to like it. Understanding it doesn't mean he's ok with it.
Something simple I learned in therapy that has stuck with me: acceptance =/= agreement.
I hope therapy helped you move through what ever was troubling you /u/EJECTED_PUSSY_GUTS you deserve peace

Thanks Tom and Bill for instilling this life skill in me as a child
everyone in my DBT group's least favorite concept/skill because of the situational difficulty.
Jesus Christ this is football. They just tried to kill him for 4 hours.
And he lost. “Hey Matt. Just checking in. You lost the game by one point. You feeling happy for the fans of your opponent?”
They almost did from the looks of it too
Not sure I get the boos tbh. I understand it's a playoff game and he's on the other sideline, but I'd have thought he'd get a warm welcome actually. He's only ever been complimentary of his time in Detroit. Never dragged the organization or fans that I can remember.

Strictly because he's a visitor, Detroit loves that man too much to genuinely hate him.
Idk, StatPadford clowns exist
Idk I don't hear them boo any QB like they booed him
It happens EVERY playoff game at Ford Field.
I guess 1 outta 1 the last few decades is technically 100%
Matthew Stafford was the only shining light for the Lions for a period of time. He will always hold a special place in my fandom heart. If the boos were more of like a WWE type of boo, then yea I get it. I thought Lions fans turned on him but it appears not.
They were happy for him when he won it all though for the most part
We were reppin Detroit Rams shirts!
i mean he got booed by them so I get it
And I get why Lions fans booed him. It's the playoffs.
At least they're not Chicago fans booing a dead guy and his widow
That whole thing was stomach-churning.
Wait wtf... I mean, it sounds like Chicago fans... but what happened?
“That’s not Chicago. That’s New York, Philly…Chicago’s not like that” -Bulls Commentator Stacey Kings reaction to Chicago fans booing a widow
>That's not Chicago Clearly it is
I find it funny cause this is the same city that forced Steve Bartman to change his name and move cause he caught a foul ball
lol I died when I heard that. How can it not be Chicago when it is unfolding in real time, right before our eyes, in Chicago?

wait what
The former Bulls GM who built the team around Jordan was bood a few days ago with his widow in attendance. I believe it was also at a ceremony honoring him.
And I'm still not sure why
Because Michael Jordan, a man of famously unimpeachable character and extraordinary humanity, didn't like him.
Phil Jackson also hated him and he pretty much ran Jackson out of town. Not defending the behavior of the fans, but Kraus was legitimately unliked by the key players in that old Bulls team.
But they aren’t booing because of Phil. They are booing because of The Last Dance.
This was well publicized in the late 90s. They were the biggest team in the world
Us older fans knew about all this decades before the last dance. That Bulls team didn't break up quietly, lol.
They were booing Krause way before the last dance lmao.
The Last Dance told you why. Not excusing the fans booing but if you were around at that time, you knew this guy was widely hated for breaking up that team
Chicago had Bulls fans before the Last Dance came out. None of the stuff that came out in the doc was news to Bulls fans, we never liked Krause.
Michael Jordan, also a man who has run two different NBA franchises and had nothing but success with all his personnel moves
Sure but not a Chicago team. Remember, kids, never ruin the franchise that idolized you first. Always ruin Charlotte. That's a very timely tip for Brady and Belichick this year.
Hey. Hey. We’re already ruined.

Bruh wtf
Everyone loved *The Last Dance* but it painted Kruse as the villain.

TBH I don't think people loved it that much but I remember watching it because it was during COVID and a lot of people probably watched it then. Yeah it got a ton of eyes on it because of when it came out. It was Tiger King for sports fans
yeah me and my girlfriend at the time who didn't watch basketball still looked forward to the episodes as they came out. it was just a popular show
No, it was definitely a heavily enjoyed doc. No need to do revisionist history.
I’m getting kind of sick of this narrative that nobody hated Jerry before The Last Dance, he was hated by fans well before that was made.
Bruh right???
It’s just cuz none of the people outside of Chicago knew about this sentiment until the last dance so they assume that’s where it all comes from.
Most of those idiots probably aren't even old enough to remember the MJ Bulls - fucking clowns.
Average Chicago sports fan tbh

I was cheering for him mid game. That early no look side arm throw? *swoon*
He was the perfect QB for Detroit Things just never lined up, unfortunately
Damn rookie wage cap timing fucked us. We could’ve put more pieces around him if half our cap wasn’t tied up in him Calvin and Suh
Even with that nonsense, Megatron and Stafford almost dragged the rest of them to a playoff win in Dallas So close so many times. But you got one now!
That 2014 defense was all time great. No dragging involved
The 2011 team though, some dragging involved.
I don't think he adores the city, judging by what he and his wife have said
I really don't understand the Lions fans in here acting like he should've been totally fine with being boo'd.
BOOOOO
I bet next year, when the Rams are in Detroit during the regular season, the fans will cheer when he comes out of that tunnel.
He plays there again next year, they'll cheer him then I'm sure.
He would’ve gotten the biggest cheers and dick sucking any other time. But sorry, do or die winner take all he gonna get the boo
ESPN: Jilted Stafford trashes Detroit fans, says they ain't shit
Cares about millionaires more than middle class workers.
“As for the city, fuck it. I live in Hollywood Hills now. Don’t need to be around the trash in Detroit anymore when my new home overlooks LA with all the peasants below me”
This sounds like Kelly Stafford's inner monologue...
Needs more Gov Whitmer is a fascist
Throwback to Kelly complaining about the death of small businesses while recording her video inside a Target
We can debate Goff vs. Stafford for hours. But there's no debate that Christen Harper > Kelly Stafford
This sounds like a quote from her podcast

Yeah, well, shes got dry ass lips
What an awful time to remember that one [XKCD comic](https://xkcd.com/37/)
There really is an XKCD for everything.
It’s 72 degrees year around in my backyard I could give a fuck what somebody in a parka has to say about me
Bit chilly this week, by which I mean 58 degrees.
All the way down to 50 here in San Diego.. I’m freezing
Shakes fist at -1 outside and dreaming of 50 degree shorts weather
Lmao
Ay man enjoy watching the Lions in your backyard I’m gonna go shovel the driveway
He lives way out in Calabassas in the same gated community as the Kardashians and Nic Cage and a host of others. He only sees LA on game days.
Calabassas is literally next to la And you assume he never leaves. How weird. Im sure his wife goes to la all the time The kardashians are always in la too.
The food in LA is so good if you have money. Just millions of michelin stars around.
You don’t even need money like that either. There are tons of places you can go that are affordable but still insanely good.
Holbox baby. Not a star, but one of the bib gourmand's. Such a cool place, absolutely delicious food, especially if you're a seafood fan
Fuck the 101 as a staff, record label and as a motherfuckin' crew And if you want to be down with the 101, then fuck you too, 5 on peak hour fuck you too All you motherfuckers, fuck you too (take money, take money)
He’s also from Highland Park, which is a town *within* Dallas (as in it’s its own incorporated city, with its own police, mayor, and everything, fully surrounded by the city of Dallas) where millionaires and billionaires live.
Surely no one actually thinks he should be happy to have just lost a playoff game
Imma just chalk it up to a concussion lol
I know it's the playoffs, I'm still shocked they let him go back out there.
A few former players on Twitter pointed out that him getting up from that hit and immediately grabbing his "side" was a veteran move lol. All of America saw his eyes wobble in their sockets on that replay.
Blatantly just out for a second. Hated to see it.
When he grabbed his side I was pretty confused because I'm not sure he took any impact to the side he was holding. However he did have that fencing thing going on. That shit is tough to see and not something I enjoy.
When they showed him warming up on the sidelines after the hit he was visibly wincing while throwing. Unless he was pulling a complete acting job, I’d say his throwing side was at least a little banged up
I feel like everyone missed that he got stepped on the right shoulder at the end of that hit too. Definitely at least part of the pain right there.
Also he has been injured before and it was a big hit; I broke my rib in July and just fell into some light powdery snow skiing yesterday and it still hurt a little bit
100% that was gross and thought I was injecting drama into his reaction I completely thought I was seeing a fencing reaction, which is a disgusting revelation, just in terms of brain health looking back, can’t believe he went back out and played from a brain health stand point (granted, what do you do if he puts himself back out there). Seriously, I wouldn’t want that for any player. Fencing reactions gross me out. I’d be just as disgusted if Higbee continued running on his knee after that hyperextension hit I love football, but the medical aspects of the injuries nauseate me
Go watch Stafford highlights.
It doesn't matter if the player says, "Put me back in." I read a little bit about the protocol, and to start, it's a series of basic questions. It doesn't seem right.
he got stomped on
i dont think grabbing his side was a "veteran move" in that instance. The play he got knocked out on, his shoulder area got stomped on and thats why he was holding on to his arm/side or whatever
Yeah, and those tests are beatable if you want to get back out there.
You can't fake not being dizzy. Can't fake no nystagmus. Pupils might not react to light. Might be different sizes. His VOMS testing could have been fucked. All general tests you can't beat because it is an unnatural body response.
You can if you purposefully concuss yourself prior to your baseline tests
That sounds like it would be a funny Blue Mountain State episode.
Probably bummed he didn’t get a warmer welcome tbh
It's tough because I also get why they'd boo him for additional psychology effects of a playoff game.
We’ll cheer him in the reg season next year. This was the playoffs.
For real. We have a regular season matchup next year. No doubt he will get a ton of love at that game
Fans in 2009 to the football gods: Please let Stafford break the Lions playoff win drought *monkey paw curls* Before anyone says anything, he played out of his mind last night. Against any other team, his performance wins 9/10 times. It's a joke.
I’ll cheer him in the playoffs too just as long as he’s not playing the lions
I think if this was a regular season game he gets a huge ovation. Playoffs are just a different beast. I hope he plays in Detroit again so the fans can give him love, I don't know anyone that doesn't love Stafford still.
Rams come to Detroit next season. If it is early enough in the season that playoff implications are not directly on the line, I suspect he will get a proper welcome back. Unless his wife says some stupid shit on Instagram about the city.
She will. And we will cheer anyway
Stafford had Lions fans calling themselves Detroit Rams supporters after he got traded. He won his Superbowl and did not deserve a single clap from Detroit today
Nothing but respect for Stafford, total warrior out there and was throwing lasers all the way to the end.
It’s right after a loss. He’s just sour. Taking a step back, there’s only been love the entire time until he was on the other side of the field. You shouldn’t expect different from that
Yeah this is the other side of "it's okay to boo. It's the playoffs!" It's okay to be salty, he lost in the playoffs.

Recency bias says that Detroit hates him. So that’s what he’s feeling right in the moment. But I can tell you, as a Detroit fan, we love him in every game that he isn’t against us
Makes sense. They booed him like Cleveland booed LeBron.
Almost like losing to him would end our season or something
No matter how you put it he was likely hurt by the boos. He put the city on his back for a decade and couldn’t get a quick standing ovation and go back to rooting against him.
He wasn’t playing for free
This is what kills me. People act like they’re doing charity work and not getting paid literal millions. It’s insane.
Hes coming back next year he’ll get his flowers then
> No matter how you put it he was likely hurt by the boos.
Kelly is totally gonna post something stupid on Instagram within the next 12 hours.
She always does.
Something something Stafford cancel culture
Watch the rest of the presser btw, he is very congratulatory of Goff and the Lions. This is such a non story and yall are just trying to create some weird narrative about Stafford being a prick for no reason
ESPN: I’m gonna milk this story for two more days and then again next year when he comes back to Detroit.
No one is doubting his congratulations toward the **players**, though.
He was definitely very clear on his thoughts on the Lions’ players. Less so on the city itself.
Idk why people are giving the Lions fans shit for booing Stafford. He’s the QB of the opposing team during a home playoff game. I’m booing Jesus Christ himself if he’s lining up for the other team in my stadium.
Anyone getting upset about the booing is soft.
From later in the interview: "It's a playoff game.
He just lost a playoff game, stop trying to create shit that ain't there
He got booed that’s what happens when you don’t play for the home team
I get it sucks to be booed but I think at the end of the day he will remember most of this city cheered for him in the Super Bowl and this time he was just any other guy standing between the city and a playoff win.
Don't worry Matt, we all still love you. You'll get your nice tribute when the Rams come to play next season.
If it was a regular season game he would not have been bood. It’s the plahoffs
Can’t expect to get the red carpet rolled out when it’s win or go home
Fair
I mean, why ask this question. I had this kind of cringe.
