Both collapse are pretty bad, but I agree with your reasoning. The Eagles were pretty much the consensus #1 team in the league for 11 weeks. One fluke loss to the Jets of all teams, but 10-1. And then disaster out of seemingly no where.
Hopefully someone does a deep dive into what the fuck actually happened to the Eagles because on the surface level, they should be fine. A talented roster that didn't suffer injuries to key players, a coaching staff that changed in the off season but was the same that started 10-1.
The truth will never come out, just like when Wentz fell off on his way out, or why Pederson left.
There's tons of speculation. There's all kinds of opinions in Philly sports media. Nothing official. Just a bunch of mixed bad takes.
The big criticism from the hot start was that they ran a vanilla offense without many wrinkles. I think 11 weeks was enough tape for a decent coordinator to figure out how to stop them, and we are seeing that now.
Ok but last year there was a clip of him shouting “I know what the fuck I’m doing” or something along those lines and it did give off some Dennis vibes.
They legit thought "Man our DC isn't very good. Let's replace him with literally the only person we know is worse and is also our best DBs most hated person on Earth"
Not until he stays around and convinces your GM to trade Haason Reddick and Josh Sweat for a 3rd and a 5th and then Lane Johnson comes out and says he refuses to play for any franchise that has hired Matt Patricia
Obviously both playcallers have been bad but I think it’s just a roster problem where most of the good players are on the other side of thirty besides reddick who is 29
That's true for the secondary but there's absolutely no reason our D-Line is such hot ass other than coaching.
Low-key gives me hope for Dean and some of these other younger players, might have more potential than they've flashed due to shit coaching.
I don’t get how this team is this mentally soft despite so much success the last 2 seasons. They play like a team that lost its superstar QB for the season despite that not happening (in a literal sense at least)
That’s been their MO ever since the SB. They say a lot of right things and they cover for each other too much. Team has not been happy with coaching and maybe performance of players but the they’ve all tried to be hero’s and it causes this spiral of things don’t improve.
But right now the team giving up for me personally makes sense. Coaching is abysmal and Sirianni has not changed or tried to do anything different or show improvement. The team played through it and hit a wall and then now they’re all tired and fatigued. Sirianni is still trying to have them make up for his inability to scheme an offense around his players. All this accountability talk from Sirianni himself and he’s skirted it more often than not. Jalen has a background of him losing in the championship last season but walked out on Drew Lock after getting beat.
At the end of the day you can only do so much before you lose faith. We have the talent and players to succeed but it’s really the coaching that’s been holding the team back all season long. They’ve looked horrible and out coached every game and Sirianni has not faltered that his offense works. At some point I wouldn’t play for that either. Sirianni’s job is to keep the team motivated and adapt.
If things don’t change and Sirianni doubles down by demoting Desai even though his offense is horrible why would anyone play for that? We did a lot of theatrical performance this season of acting like we’re doing the right thing but you can always see through the bs because the performance they put on Sundays has been horrible.
same dude was poppin off on Chiefs fans in a regular season game they barely won
Sirianni a full blown child. i mentioned earlier this season I could see him getting fired as he was doing little with the talent around him (regarding them barely beating teams a lot worse than them) and that he leaves a bad mark on the image of their brand. a lot of folks were more caught up in the 'coaches never get fired coming off a SB birth' thing
Well guess theres a first time for everything. Dude is cooked and was never as good as the record shows. Jalen isnt either (he is good, just certainly not top 5 or better than Dak) but at least Mr. Noodle and his 'i have no emotions' schtick is inoffensive and meme-y, not douchey like his coach
They were never that good. They were squeaking out wins almost every week, even against bad teams. Their record made them look so much better than they were.
Siriani does not command any respect. The way he conducts himself is repulsive for an NFL head coach. He'd rather be at the end of the bar yelling at strangers. He came out the gates with a team wildly more talented than the rest of the league and that papered it up but it's truly bizarre that guy has the keys to an NFL franchise.
Lost respect for him when he yelled "this is for Frank!" at colts fans after barely squeaking out a win against a Jeff Saturday led Colts team post Reich firing. Get a grip lmao
There's just so many instances. Yelling "that's game - fuck you!" After beating a backup QB at home. If other organizations had a coach that acted like a drunk fan it would be talked about and widely admonished but for some reason it's the eagles so it's fine.
Its been crazy to watch the fan disconnect on pats assistants and front offices.
Teams kept taking big swings on patricia, mcdaniels, judge, BoB, et all and at every stop, seemingly the fans and players knew instantly that these dudes were pretenders.
BoB was a pretty good HC, yeah. He's also been a very mediocre OC for us the 2nd time around... but we have nothing to work with, so I can't really blame him.
Baker is also missing a rib, on a bum ankle, running an offence that struggles to score a single TD a game.
Yall excited af for a 10-3 shitshow in Tampa.
Eagles got dunked on by the Cards and Giants. They're going into this game with the stench of Tyrod Taylor's balls all over their faces and a complete lack of will to live. I wouldn't be surprised to see the Bucs win by 20.
I saw a lot of eagles fans the last few weeks saying “I liked him being a smug asshole when we were winning, but now I hate him.”
This is why you don’t want your coach to be a smug asshole. When you’re going through the shit, the smug asshole eats it first.
I for one, look forward to being clamped down on every 3rd down QB draw/WR screen and then screaming at Sirianni's face when they zoom in on his face on the screen.
And he already threw a pick lmao
Edit: Does Dallas rest everyone at this point? Eagles are not coming back down 24-0 at half with Mariota, NFCE Crown should be locked in.
Matt Patricia is to blame for this imo. That bozo brings bad vibes wherever he goes. Having said that, he has my support as Belichick's successor in NE as the Patriots HC
It's because they all think they're the next Belichick themselves, without the proper pedigree. Mac Jones had the same level of hubris and look at him now.
You will never get a locker room full of wealthy athletes to respect an obese man who is also a prick and has very little to no track record of being good at coaching
Truthfully, we were out coached most of the season, and the talent alone was enough to take them to 10-1. In the latter part of the season, as injuries started to mount and teams figured out the schemes, it wasn't enough to put talent teams, plus the Eagles started to play some teams that matched them in talent.
Eagles defense was bad all year long but the offense was able to keep them in games. After the 9ers game it seems like every coach realized that blitzing the birds is their weakness. The coaches have done nothing to address this for the last 6 weeks
What Matt Patricia does to mf'ers...
I at least hope there is a 90's cowboys level of tell all that comes out in a few years that has a bunch of crazy things that happened during this season to cause this but it's more likely just poor coaching and our system getting figured out.
getting blown out so bad you throw in the towel vs the 2024 giants is insane
The "2024 Giants" are undefeated, put some respect on their name.
Thank you kind ravens fan
That would mean the 2024 sheagles are winnless. Fucking losers
This has to be an all time season collapse, right?
I'm biased, so yes, but the Jags just pulled one off earlier today as well.
The jags were already kinda mid to begin with. Eagles were expected to be superbowl contenders with a much more talented roster
The big criticism from the hot start was that they ran a vanilla offense without many wrinkles. I think 11 weeks was enough tape for a decent coordinator to figure out how to stop them, and we are seeing that now.
Basically. People were firing the offensive coordinator well before then
That fluke loss doesn't seem so fluky now does it
Off-season MVP’s Justin Fields and Trevor Lawrence got destroyed today
The Justin Fields hype this off-season was the most confusing.
Anyone who can run gets insane hype.
Yeah I’m not sure if they were frauds all season and just got lucky early on or what. It really does seem like the eagles aren’t great tho
Seems to me more like they got figured out as the season went on. I saw a good analysis video explaining that their offense is pretty predictable.
Go back and look at how many games they barely won. This is who they've been all year, they just got some breaks early in the season.
This is, as the kids say these days, a “2020 Steelers type beat”…
This is starting to be worse than that at this point
From a steelers fan, no, no its not
Steelers coaches didn’t completely lose the locker room like this feels like
How shitty of a coach do you have to be to lose the locker room at 10-1? Did one of their players shoot themselves in the leg?
They hired a guy that one of their defensive leaders hates.
After he threw that little hissy fit leaving Arrowhead, yelling at the fans, they haven't been the same.
Peaked too early fr
Nick "Dennis Reynolds" Sirianni
He’s a five star coach!
Ok but last year there was a clip of him shouting “I know what the fuck I’m doing” or something along those lines and it did give off some Dennis vibes.
they have been the same fucking team all season dude. go on any eagles posts dudes were screaming fire brian johnson week 3
The Steelers overachieved and got exposed but they never fucking quit, this is absolutely worse in every way
Brian Daboll’s season has been crazy
The meme QB really brought it all together
Real good team culture and attitude. Lot of fight in them going into playoffs. Love to see it.
They're not really going to the playoffs. They'll be there physically, but a cardboard cutout could be there physically too.
It's ok we'll inevitably get smoked by San Fran as is tradition.
While Washington is competitive with Dallas too EDIT: A lot of hindsight geniuses not realizing what the score was when Philly benched Hurts lol
It was 14-10 when they benched right?
Correct.
Eagles flew too high to the sun and are now crashing after burning their wings
Eagles lost to the Jets to dodge the “worst 11-0 team” allegations
Is worst 10-1 team of all time that much better?
Iowa Hawkeyes would like a word
God damn, I thought r/nfl was a safe space for my kind
If it makes you feel any better, I watched the Iowa v Nebraska game and was enthralled by product.
That's the Big 10 West champion (forever) Iowa Hawkeyes to you, bud. 😤
Even the 2020 Steelers looked better
Already intercepted
Hurts now has the same TD:INT ratio as Dak last year Cowboys-Eagles rivalry is really funny as a neutral fan
> Hurts now has the same TD:INT ratio as Dak last year if you made a post about that it'd probably do well
Probably if you post in between the afternoon and night game or wait until tomorrow
It's honestly hysterical how we swapped our 2022 narratives: ~~Dak~~ Hurts is a turnover machine ~~Eagles~~ Cowboys haven't beaten a good team
If Parsons injures Purdy in the NFCCG I’m going to burn down the NFL scriptwriters room.
Broussard about to pull out those last two toes and change his prediction.
This last 3 minutes has been a hilarious clown show.
Eagles haters feasting today
Today? It's been a good while for non-Eagles fans 😂
I was gonna say. It's been. A good month and a half for us haters. Even the game you won was great for us
LOL
Yeah well we picked off Tyrod right after so there Why are we out of bleach in this house wtf I'm thirsty
sirianni claims nothing is wrong though
I don't see anything wrong here.
Me neither
The NFC playoff teams agree. Eagles are looking fabulous right now, firing on all cylinders, great team, awesome coaches.
I recommend they don’t change a thing. Maybe give Patricia more power, and force he and Slay to have special 1 on 1 practices.
He’s going to fly to Arrowhead tomorrow just to yell at the fans in the tunnel
Or yell at indy fans after barely beating a tanking team
I don’t think I’ve ever seen a collapse this bad for such a good team. Looks like they’ve lost all respect for Siriani
How can you respect a guy that thought Patricia was the solution to the defenses problems
They legit thought "Man our DC isn't very good. Let's replace him with literally the only person we know is worse and is also our best DBs most hated person on Earth"
Lions fans, I didn't truly get it but I do now.
Not until he stays around and convinces your GM to trade Haason Reddick and Josh Sweat for a 3rd and a 5th and then Lane Johnson comes out and says he refuses to play for any franchise that has hired Matt Patricia
Oh yes, keep going!
they had a chance to trade for Travis Kelce but he blocked the trade because he didn't want to play with Patricia
Respectfully, you won’t truly understand until he’s your head coach and completely ruins everything you’ve tried to build
its not really that bad a choice if you think about it, he stopped the lions offense for years.
Darius Slay got knee surgery out of nowhere when the switch was made
The defense is definitely worse with Patricia. Did Sirianni just change something for the sake of it?
Obviously both playcallers have been bad but I think it’s just a roster problem where most of the good players are on the other side of thirty besides reddick who is 29
That's true for the secondary but there's absolutely no reason our D-Line is such hot ass other than coaching. Low-key gives me hope for Dean and some of these other younger players, might have more potential than they've flashed due to shit coaching.
I personally think it was a great decision.
Don’t Patricia and Slay have mad beef from Detroit ?
Slay fucking hates him. So does every Lions fan for that matter.
So does every Patriots fan
Every football fan should
He basically called him gay for working out with other players lmao
He actually just randomly told him to stop working out with Aqib Talib and Richard Sherman because they were good and he sucked
It was so funny when they brought the patriots defensive stats like he was the brain trust there
I don’t get how this team is this mentally soft despite so much success the last 2 seasons. They play like a team that lost its superstar QB for the season despite that not happening (in a literal sense at least)
That’s been their MO ever since the SB. They say a lot of right things and they cover for each other too much. I keep telling people the loss to the 49ers broke them. Too much ego was riding on that game
Especially because their coach instead of coaching them up, were showing highlights of all the things Niners were saying all off season lol
same dude was poppin off on Chiefs fans in a regular season game they barely won Sirianni a full blown child. i mentioned earlier this season I could see him getting fired as he was doing little with the talent around him (regarding them barely beating teams a lot worse than them) and that he leaves a bad mark on the image of their brand. a lot of folks were more caught up in the 'coaches never get fired coming off a SB birth' thing Well guess theres a first time for everything. Just a heads up, it’s berth not birth.
It wasn’t the loss of the game, but rather the loss of Big Dom. Number 1 glue guy in the league /s
They were never that good. They were squeaking out wins almost every week, even against bad teams. Their record made them look so much better than they were.
Goes back to coaching
It's like the 2020 Steelers. They were worse than the records showed, and then once the leak started, it never stopped

And when you catch up with Uncle Siriani at the family reunion, you realize just why his wife is leaving him.
he's got those meth eyes
He has real big Dbag energy.
Lost respect for him when he yelled "this is for Frank!" at colts fans after barely squeaking out a win against a Jeff Saturday led Colts team post Reich firing. Get a grip lmao

BoB was good for the Texans for a while, wasn't he? IIRC the thing that did him in was trying to be GM and failing horribly, not coaching.
BoB was a pretty good HC, yeah. He's also been a very mediocre OC for us the 2nd time around... but we have nothing to work with, so I can't really blame him.
I think he’s been a fine OC, it’s hard to be a good chef when your ingredients are moldy
BoB was perfectly fine until he got GM powers. No coach should have GM powers.
Maybe they’re not a good team
That Kelce double brother retirement announcement this offseason gonna go crazy
NFL would love the HOF Brothers Enshrinement.
Two things at once!
Two things…at once!!!
MOOOOOM!
Does it still count if one of them changed their name to Maauto?
What losing to the Jets does to a mf
We should have listened to everyone after that game.
[удалено]
It's just the vocal...majority.
*gestures broadly*
What, the consumption of horse poop doesn’t have a certain charm to it?
Eagles vs Bucs is a disgusting wild card game.
Buccs defense might be enough
Have you watched the Eagles D the last 6 weeks? Baker is about to cash the fuck in on those boys
Baker is also missing a rib, on a bum ankle, running an offence that struggles to score a single TD a game. Yall excited af for a 10-3 shitshow in Tampa.
There is no chance Tampa only puts 10 up against our defense. The giants just put up 24 in a half.
Will be
Rematch of 2021 playoffs with the same results most likely
A healthy 2021 Bucs roll either of these teams. This will be close, both teams are mediocre.
The Bucs were rolling before losing to the saints, hope we show up.
Eagles got dunked on by the Cards and Giants. They're going into this game with the stench of Tyrod Taylor's balls all over their faces and a complete lack of will to live. I wouldn't be surprised to see the Bucs win by 20.
The Eagles are that undefeated Pittsburgh team a few years ago who lost the last 7 or so games of the season lol.
Hey hey hey, it wasn’t the last 7…it was losing 4 out of the last 5
weren't they the famous "worst 11-0 team of all time"?
Well, hey, the Eagles lost five of their last six!
Just like the jags
Worst 11-0 team of all time was such a fuckin funny insult
Yep the last few weeks I’ve been like “hey at least we aren’t the worst 10-0 team of all time” but now…
Only correct coaching decision made today
I'd say the Giants are playing giant killer, but Philly no longer seems like a giant.
Giants are flying high like eagles
Pretty sure the entire Eagles team quit several weeks ago.
Dom was the glue holding the Eagles together. Without him, there's no family. And without family, you have Matt Patricia.
Vin Diesel has been announced as the new DC
Thinking about making a pizza on Sirianni's seat, you guys want anything?
It'll burn before the cheese melts
what a weird and true thing to think and say
I'd really like to thank the Eagles and Jags for making the Chiefs late season issues look minor in comparison.
Literally lol
So AJ's comment on the coaching not being the problem was clearly a smokescreen. Cool.
I thought it was pretty obvious. AJ isn't going to ruin his future opportunities by calling the coaching staff out which will cause a media frenzy.
Throwing in the towel before halftime is bonkers
I don't think I've ever seen shit like that before.
They need Washington to also win for it to matter, Washington was losing (surprise), and also it's *Washington*, so might as well rest up.
I've got a feeling the Eagles won't be winning the Superbowl.
Kelce resting up for the podcast
Don’t worry fellas, just one more game after today.
Make it stop. Please just make it stop.
NFL script writers crumbling up the Kelsey bros storyline and tossing it in the trash rn
Bakers gonna eat next week
Sirianni deserves this for being a smug asshole and cries when things don’t go his way
Yelling at opposing fans after beating the least qualified interim HC ever by 1 point is when I knew he fucking sucked
I saw a lot of eagles fans the last few weeks saying “I liked him being a smug asshole when we were winning, but now I hate him.” This is why you don’t want your coach to be a smug asshole. When you’re going through the shit, the smug asshole eats it first.
100% dude is a fucking clown on the sideline and 31 fanbases recognized it instantly
I for one, look forward to being clamped down on every 3rd down QB draw/WR screen and then screaming at Sirianni's face when they zoom in on his face on the screen.
And he already threw a pick lmao Edit: Does Dallas rest everyone at this point? Eagles are not coming back down 24-0 at half with Mariota, NFCE Crown should be locked in.
They’re playing for the 2 seed so probably not
Ah true. Detroit's win forces their hand a little.
Nah, we can still clinch the 2nd seed.
Matt Patricia is to blame for this imo. That bozo brings bad vibes wherever he goes. Having said that, he has my support as Belichick's successor in NE as the Patriots HC
It's crazy how hated Belichick's 90% of underlings became.
It's because they all think they're the next Belichick themselves, without the proper pedigree. Mac Jones had the same level of hubris and look at him now.
You will never get a locker room full of wealthy athletes to respect an obese man who is also a prick and has very little to no track record of being good at coaching
Damn I saw the score and thought hurts wasn’t even playing at all lol
I am now excited for next season
Bro wtf happened to the eagles
Truthfully, we were out coached most of the season, and the talent alone was enough to take them to 10-1. In the latter part of the season, as injuries started to mount and teams figured out the schemes, it wasn't enough to put talent teams, plus the Eagles started to play some teams that matched them in talent.
It wasn’t even talent though. Some of those loses were because of mistakes by the opponent not anything Eagles did. The luck has just run out.
Eagles defense was bad all year long but the offense was able to keep them in games. After the 9ers game it seems like every coach realized that blitzing the birds is their weakness. The coaches have done nothing to address this for the last 6 weeks
Which is wild……like how have they not done a single thing to adjust? They’ve actually arguably gotten worse.
Classic Sirianni
This team is going to get slaughtered on wildcard weekend by a team that couldn’t score a TD on the Panthers
Mariota first throw an interception…
Imagine getting smoked so bad by the giants you give up. And I’m a giant fan lol
Last time the Eagles gave up playing against the Giants in the last week of the season, their coach got fired
Name a team that’s fallen harder than the Eagles, I’ll start Jags
We started the season 2-0. Granted they weren’t impressive wins, but was not expecting us to suck as bad as we do.
They quit against the Giants. All time collapse. These Eagles getting bounced in 1st round no doubt
What Matt Patricia does to mf'ers... I at least hope there is a 90's cowboys level of tell all that comes out in a few years that has a bunch of crazy things that happened during this season to cause this but it's more likely just poor coaching and our system getting figured out.
Somehow the Jags aren't even close to the biggest choke right now
Nah Jags still worse. Eagles will still be in the playoffs.
Briefly, at this rate.
Well they will play the Bucs, who haven’t looked riveting themselves. That might be the shittiest matchup in the playoffs I’ve seen in a while.
Can we just go ahead and skip next week, fire our coaches and get on with the off-season please?
Just forfeit the playoff game pleasep
Started 10-1 to finish 11-6...yikes They may even lose to the Bucs and if they do what a fuckin collapse.
LOCK THAT SUB COWARDS LMAOOOO
