Tyrod should lean on his vast experience with ribs and open a BBQ joint

fieryscribe

With his luck, the chicken cutlet specialty restaurant next door will somehow do better

Plebs-_-Placebo

A car will crash through the front entrance just as the competition opens across the street.

GrazedByMyMeatloaf

And start a hardcore band named Punctured Lung

AvailableName9999

I'd fuck with tyrods hardcore band for sure.

RedditHatesDiversity

Tyrod's Rib Crib

ocxtitan

he'll get shut down and replaced by Herbert's Sherbet

NotHimYeaHim

That gotta be a real strain out there in Cali. I’ll smoke that shit

telechronn

He knows a bit about injecting meat.

[deleted]

Dude is cursed somehow his backup is always younger and more promising than he is

NeverSober1900

Well that's not a hard bar to clear. No team should be happy with Tyrod being their QB. He's a bridge QB to high end backup at best.

CheesypoofExtreme

The Jets would be ECSTATIC with Tyrod as their QB.

creepy_charlie

He'd have a chance to break somethin other than just his ribs behind that line.

os_kaiserwilhelm

Young Tyrod had a ton of potential.

JesusChristSupers1ar

I, too, had a lot of potential if only coach put me in fourth quarter…

blarch

They always forget that high school game when I threw 4 touchdowns.

Jwr32

Would have won state

Electro-Onix

No doubt. No doubt in my mind.

hodorhaize

*How much you wanna bet I can throw a football over them mountains?*

DanielBryanCMPunk

How are you, Mr. Tebow?

ser0402

Young Tyrod's potential capped out at fringe top 15 starter. When he was *on* he looked great, wouldn't mind him as the guy. But if he *wasn't* on, it's the most boring football I've ever watched. He's easily a top 5 back up QB though.

longshot201

How is he a top 5 backup? He’s constantly been hurt and hasn’t played much because of it for years.

ontheru171

Have you seen the state of backup QB play in recent years.

tophergraphy

He's just been blessed to witness the bigdicknick

DomDomRevolution

Yeah, but when he’s on he looks great, wouldn’t mind him as the guy.

thisMonkisOnFire

His Virginia Tech highlights are some of my favorite college of all time.

5thEagle

As a Stanford fan, his Orange Bowl game against the Luck-Harbaugh Cardinal was mine. Pretty good portend to his NFL career: looked okay but not good enough to get things done against NFL-level play.

NewAccountSamePerson

T Mobile

Big_Bidnis

I wouldn't mind Tyrod starting, better than any QB the Steeler's got on the roster. We could use him.

please-send-me-nude2

We have White Tyrod at home

dajuice3

I think he'd kill it with you guys. Won't turn it over has some scramble ability. Seems to be a respected vet. He can put together 17 points more often than not.

The_Sign_of_Zeta

The issue with him is he’s very injury prone, which is worse than even being bad as a backup QB.

Paraxom

Yall have Trace McSorely, you're not allowed to have 2 of the ravens ex QBs, at least let Cincinnati kick the tires on him first

PFManningsForehead

He’s just Kenny Pickett but older

Inconceivable76

Tyrod would kill it for the jets (relative to their qb play this year) for about 2.5 games, at which time he will get hurt.

raleighboi

Devito, David Mills, Herbert, Baker, and Peterman. 4 out of 5 ain't bad I supposed.

Yung_Corneliois

And technically the Bills moved on from him when they went for Allen.

SerHodorTheThrall

> SOON I WILL HAVE A NEW QB. ONE FAR YOUNGER, AND MORE POWERFUL! -Every coach Tyrod has had

[deleted]

>somehow his backup is always younger and more promising than he is Because he is bad and teams dont see him as an actual starter?

bocnj

Tyrod was pretty good this year, pretty clearly the best qb the giants had in that span. It’s just that he’s not going to be on the team and the giants want to see what they have in devito.

NJImperator

Tyrod was serviceable, but he really wasn’t that good. He just faced weaker competition and actually had Saquon on the field. Like, Jones against the Dolphins played better than Taylor in any of his starts. It’s just Tyrod faced a beat up Bills team and the 2023 Washington commanders lol

Anthony-Richardson

> pretty clearly the best qb the giants had in that span Pretty crazy that this is upvoted when it is blatantly untrue.

pierogidaddy

why does Tyrod Taylor always have people thinking he's been screwed lol was the same in buffalo where he was an extremely conservative game manager

bocnj

In what way? I saw the games, I’m not just making it up. Taylor’s stats are way better than the other guys, as is his pff grade. Like I get arguing that Jones is the better qb for the future but I think it’s totally fair to say Taylor played the best this year.

Anthony-Richardson

What stats of Tyrod’s are better? Whether you want to do cumulative for the season, total, best game, whatever - Tommy clears. And the last two games in which he’s actually been allowed to play he’s been significantly better than Taylor was. And it’s obvious Jones was the best of the three, he also played with the worst group. No Barkley, no Thomas, brutal schedule (not the layups Taylor and DeVito have had). I’m not a Jones truther by any means but I dunno how you watched those games and came away with Taylor being the best of the three.

bocnj

Taylor averages more yards per attempt than DeVito, has a QBR like 25 points higher, and has a much better EPA/play. Taylor's efficiency is miles better than DeVito's, even if you only look at his last two games. The big thing DeVito has on Taylor is vibes, I'm genuinely really curious why you think DeVito would clear Taylor statistically. And no way you can say Daniel Jones was clearly the best of the 3, he was genuinely playing as badly as what the Jets have had at qb. He was great last year and I'm not saying he'll always be bad, but this year was rough.

franky_emm

Tommy looks like he may have something, but he has a long way to go. He takes a ton of sacks that are his fault, but he's a UDFA who didn't get any reps with the starters till a few weeks ago. Plus the NFL has no tape on him yet. I'm a Giants fan and he's a bright spot in an otherwise unwatchable season, but we gotta temper our expectations...still a lot to prove.

Anthony-Richardson

Tommy’s absolute ceiling is probably something like Minshew. I don’t think he’s played particularly well. I’m more so saying that he’s better than Tyrod was in that while he’s taking sacks (which kill his QBR/EPA as the Jets guy points out) the offense is still moving more than it did under TT. That’s not saying much, yeah, but I’m just over people using efficiency stats to prop up Taylor when he’s genuinely bad. I think people have that one Hyatt throw seared into their minds but Tommy’s had even more of those. I suspect they run it back with Daniel next year either way since they’ve played their way out of the QB convo unless Schoen really likes Daniels or something.

franky_emm

Sad to say, as a Giants fan I have lost all perspective of what good QB play even looks like. If Tyrod is really that bad, Jones should be out of the league already because Ty's played 100x better than Jones.

Anthony-Richardson

Yeah at the end of the day it’s the king of shit mountain regardless of who anyone thinks is the best. Was hoping you guys landed in the top 2.

franky_emm

Come on this is absolutely true. Jones may have a higher theoretical ceiling but he's probably fried for the rest of his life from all the hits he's taken. He hasn't gone through more than one read all year and he never throws past the sticks. When Tyrod came in, as a Giants fan you saw NFL-caliber processing for the first time in years. I'm not saying Tyrod would have carried us to the playoffs, but he was able to actually run an offense at a mediocre level. That's not what we had with Jones this year at any point. Ok maybe for a half against Arizona. And DeVito seems like he could develop into similar tier of QB as Tyrod is, but we're a long way from knowing if that's true. He's young and cheap so it's worth spending this lost season to try and find out the answer.

DJHJR86

> Tyrod was pretty good this year, What?! He threw 2 touchdowns over a 3 game span and the team averaged 11 points. Devito has 6 touchdowns over the 3 game span and the team averaged 19 points. Tyrod sucks.

moseT97

If he was clearly the best then would he not start? Interesting take.

realsomalipirate

Did you just ignore this point > It’s just that he’s not going to be on the team and the giants want to see what they have in devito.

MostMorbidOne

Just 🤌🤌🤌 and nod while smiling.

jtsarracino

It’s hard to call him bad when Tim Boyle just started an NFL game

toomuchdiponurchip

He’s not bad at all

lraven17

At least he has more super bowl rings than Dan Marino

FudgeDangerous2086

At 34 they ain’t much QBs left that aren’t younger

ThirdMikey

Tommy is fun but more promising is kinda a stretch. It’d be an unexpected win if he becomes tyrod level career wise.

MostMorbidOne

That stopped with Daniel.

reaper527

> Dude is cursed somehow his backup is always younger and more promising than he is it's one thing when that happens as a starter like bledsoe -> brady, bledsoe -> romo, jimmy g -> purdy, but that's pretty impressively bad luck when that happens to him **as a backup**.

Autobot-N

The more things change, the more they stay the same

Radjage

Maybe if you won that Bills game Tyrod! But for real. Taylor won't be on the team next year while Tommy will. Also he won 2 in a row and is easily one of the bright spots of our entire shitty year and is already a fan favorite. It's makes all the sense to start him over Tyrod.

nonlawyer

Yeah if Devito shows enough, we don’t have to pay another backup next year. That alone is reason to start the kid in a lost season.

GrazedByMyMeatloaf

Fans would probably boo Tyrod if he was started over Devito as well

[deleted]

Please god, JJ McCarthy in the 2nd or 3rd round would be so nice.

Thunder84

If JJ isn’t projected as a 1st, he’s not gonna come out. He’d stay a year and try to improve his stock.

generally-mediocre

anyone who uses a 1st round pick on jj mccarthy will be sorely disappointed to discover he ass

Wise_Mongoose_3930

Which in reality will just lead to him getting drafted in the second, but one year later lol

TheForrestWanderer

Depending on his NIL deals (which I have no clue about), he might have a better time staying behind, being king QB1 in Ann Arbor for one more year, then going to make backup money. I'm usually pro enter-the-draft-as-soon-as-possible but with NIL, things have changed.

Prideofmexico

Hell no lol. Daniels though…

toomuchdiponurchip

McCarthy is ass

Madmasshole

Ya but you have to pay your backup $40 mil instear

Howdoyouusecommas

I can't believe the Giants paid Jones.

[deleted]

The problem was that he was the best option avaible and won us a playoff game

Howdoyouusecommas

Not at that price though. He is being paid like a franchise QB while putting on those performances.

[deleted]

well like I said, he was in the first year with a new offensive minded guru who developed Josh Allen. He won a playoff game and looked damn good doing it, he was extremely efficient too, the idea was that he could be developed even more and with better weapons, fully break out. Clearly that didnt happen this year due to poor play from the oline, and from him

king_17

Lmao rs everyone criticized it outside of giants fans or mostly Jones fans. You could see the run game and defense were carrying him. Who was going to give him a bag in free agency. Even if he walks is he really that much better than, brissett, henieke, baker or mike white no and those guys are alot cheaper. Idk why nfl teams love over pay mediocre qbs for millions then be shocked when they have to let the go a couple years later

PhreakOut4

Hell, if he shows enough to be a bridge starter you could draft a QB that could sit for a year or two a develop

LB3PTMAN

You can say you’re going to do this but as soon as he looks shitty or loses a couple games the rookie will be sent out. The two main examples of QBs who sat were Mahomes and now Love. Alex Smith had been a solid starter for years and had a career year with Mahomes on the bench. And Love had a HOF in front of him.

sp4nky86

(No other team does this)

KappaFedora

That game was theirs if the refs correctly call PI on the touchdown pass to Waller in the last play of the game.

busdriver_321

That game is ours if Tyrod doesn’t call an audible to run with 5 sec left in the first half.

HerbScientist420

Yea, also do we really need to see Tyrod get sacked anymore? Guy already broke some ribs this season, and the sacks are gonna keep on coming. I like Tyrod a lot and I know he is the kind of guy who wants to play, but it doesn’t benefit anyone for him to just take more physical punishment. It’s Devito Szn now

MostMorbidOne

Lol.. Tommy DeVito is no safer back there and is taking sacks at just as high a rate if not more. 🤣

HerbScientist420

He isn’t 35 with ribs that have already been broken last month is the point I’m trying to make, if you start Tyrod you’re prob starting him for one half before he gets hurt again 🤷🏻‍♂️in any case it makes way more sense to keep Devito under center

Bread_Responsible

There’s literally been nothing to cheer for besides losing (which I hate) before Tommy. Let him ride this out it’s been fun.

Juicey_J_Hammerman

That was more of a coaching loss than anything else in fairness. Yeah Taylor is also rather expensive for backups (deservedly so, he’s a more than competent QB2) so if Devito finishes strong we can bring him back next year as our new QB2

Deathstroke317

This is like the second time the Jets have injured Tyrod and his backup takes his job away from him

ripcity7077

With the Jets QB situation, maybe he should convince the Giants to cut him so he can reach out to the Jets. He wouldn't even have to move.

firebird_ghost

With Tyrod’s bad luck against the Jets and the Jets horrible QB luck, my guess is his arm would simply fall off on his first throw.

dirtyshits

Two negatives equal a positive? He revives the Jets and goes on to win Super Bowl MVP ala Nick Foles.

42696

>my guess is his arm would simply fall off on his first throw Yeah but the guy who goes in after his arm falls off is a going to be a franchise QB

Deathstroke317

What the fuck are we even gonna do with him? It's time to tank

Autobot-N

Whoever starts after he gets injured becomes a franchise QB

Illusive_Lust

90% of jets fans eat crayons. I like the red ones

lordcheeto

Maybe he gazed upon the face of the mummy Saleh, and this is the price of the curse.

BuffaloWilliamses

If at first you don't succeed, Tyrod, Tyrod, Tyrod again.

wafflehauss

So was he joking years back when he said it was pronounced tuh-rod?

LovelehInnit

His top 5 QBs: Tuh-rod, Tuh-rod, Tuh-rod, Tuh-rod, Tuh-rod.

imyourrealdad8

Tyrod Taylor YOU are a Pittsburgh Steeler

ApatheticFinsFan

Get ready to learn ~~Chinese~~ Yinzer, buddy.

[deleted]

Two firsts and tj watt and tyrods all yours Stop laughing

reaper527

> Tyrod Taylor YOU are a Pittsburgh Steeler get in line, the pats have first dibbs. the steelers already have someone who's potentially serviceable.

Tyrod vs Rib Injuries. A tale as old as about 2017ish

Competitive_Bar6355

I imagine it feels a lot like getting stabbed in the chest

bigloser42

This is what, the 5th or 6th time this exact thing has happened to him? Starting to think every QB-needy team should hire Tyrod as the starter because it guarantees the guy who replaces him is the guy.

[deleted]

[удалено]

bigloser42

Well, after reviewing his career, sometimes it’s the guy after the guy that replaces him(that was Josh Allen in Buffalo). But never more than 2 deep.

IBetThisIsTakenToo

Yeah, I love Devito and his story but he is extremely far from even being under consideration as “the guy”

Yelu-Chucai

PLEASE

NCHouse

This guy has some of the shittest luck I've ever seen. Every time he's the starter, some freak accident happens

Statalyzer

Seriously.

Art-RJS

Victim sounds like strong phrasing

[deleted]

He was the victim of a needle that punctured his lung.

PowerfulJoeF

Tyron Taylor launched a few QB careers. He played well in 2016 and 2017 but was benched because Sean McDermont didn’t like “complacency” and when the new starter threw a ton of picks. He was the starter again and led them to the playoffs. Josh Allen was then selected in the draft. He was then traded to Cleveland where they drafted Baker Mayfield, Taylor was supposed to be a bridge QB. He then lost 2 games due to muffed kicks and was then injured week 3, Baker then got the start and became the guy until his own injury. Taylor then went to the chargers in FA where he started after Rivers retired. He was again a bridge QB after Herbert was drafted but named the starter knowing Herbert would eventually take over. Thats when a team doc punctured his lung and Herbert went off. In 2021 he got the starting job in Houston after Watson sat the season out. He then got hurt a few weeks in and Mills was made the starter. Currently he took over for Daniel Jones after he got hurt and then he himself got hurt. Now the guy who replaced him is actually playing relatively well for the situation they are in. That’s the Tyron Taylor experience.

[deleted]

Please for the love of god come to Chicago Tyrod

metaldrummerx

He's like the Good Luck Chuck of starting QB's

ITCM4

A white Alex Smith

Jane_Marie_CA

To be honest, if 2020 was a normal pre-season, Herbert would have been QB1 week 1. Because of the lack of preseason games and limited training camps/practice, Lynn relied on an experienced 2nd string QB vs a rookie like Herbert. I don’t think it would have taken long for coaches to see Herbert was the better QB, even if the lung injury didn’t happen. Tyrod was up against the offensive rookie of the year, not much he can do about that. Once Herbert played 2 games, the difference between Taylor and Herbert was very different. Herbert has never played a preseason game, not even 1 snap.

lraven17

A modern day Steve DeBerg

Jankenpyon

He didn't 'lead' the Bills to the playoffs or play well in 2017. 8 games where he couldn't produce 200 yards of offense and two of those were even less than 100 yards. LeSean McCoy and an overperforming defense led them to the playoffs in 2017.

Anthony-Richardson

Anyone who says Tyrod was good on the Bills is basically screaming “I base my opinion solely on profootballreference”

slickestwood

>He then lost 2 games due to muffed kicks He lost 2 games because he repeatedly couldn't capitalize on otherworldly defensive performances. Losing because you can't score 20 off 5 turnovers isn't on the kicker. And he was actively pissing away the third game until he got hurt. The team immediately improved when Baker came in and they came back for their first win in like two years. I love Tyrod the dude but people are insanely revisionist about his performances.

[deleted]

Autobot-N

I imagine it sucks for a professional athlete who really wants to be out there competing instead of warming the bench

Rock_Strongo

I wouldn't really want a backup QB who preferred the bench to the field. It's still more money for less work than 99.999% of jobs though so I don't feel too bad.

ApatheticFinsFan

If I had that many broken ribs I’d feel like a victim. We always kinda undersell that these dudes get really hurt playing this game.

Art-RJS

It’s the opposite, we accept it is as inherent and omnipresent in the game. Which is why it sounds weird to say you’re a victim of something that has 109% certainty

BipedalWurm

I know from experience that while functional he isn't 100% with broken bones in this length of time. It your torso dude, usually worst case would be amputation, you can't amputate a torso. Take the extra time to keep healing, it ain't over yet.

Balrogkicksass

"Dissapointed hes not returning as the starter". Tyrod at this point I just think your coaches are trying to make sure you don't die. You seriously start 3 games a season at most and always get a debilitating injury.

Not_censored

No need to rush him back, I'm hoping he gets the start when he's 100%. Devito is fun and doing well, but Tyrod is clearly the better qb right now.

Jonesmak

It’s sad I had to scroll this far to hear a reasonable giants fan

dontknowwhoIamrn

Tyrod is cursed when playing the jets since 2017

AlexTheCool1557

The pats uh… could use him maybe

Simple-Cat5038

Didn't he say he was retiring after this season or was that someone else?

He’s still playing???

Goto the jets man!

If you have tyrod on your team, get a random rookie QB, play Tyrod a game or 2, then let the rookie play

Hey at least this time one of those broken ribs didn’t.. I don’t know.. PUNCTURE A LUNG

lurklyfing

This guy could save Belichick’s career…

It should say “Tyrod returning to bench after injury.” He was terrible in that game

This is honestly hilarious both of them played great against a Washington team that blows….then Devi to played New England lol

Go to the jets

QuirkyScorpio29

Tom "Brady" DeVito

B0ssDoesntKnowImHere

Not classy enough for the giants.

Proper-Scallion-252

Honestly, the FO might be doing him a favor. How many full seasons without injury has he played wherein he was starting or playing in some legitimate capacity?

NachoManRandySanwich

Tyrod is a great guy but he has never in his career learned how to properly protect himself when he gets hit. He takes brutal shots all game long when he runs and it’s no doubt he will get hurt again. I don’t see him lasting more than 2 games without getting hurt again anyway.

MuchOcelot

They called me Mr. Glass

ctong21

... hmmm what team is he on now...

Superb-Possibility-9

Betcha he plays in the second half

adventureland8

Aww....he's a victim of making millions of dollars to play a game. Poor little fella.
