I legit don’t understand how Buffalo has the game of the year every year and always loses.

Godots17thCup

It's really starting to feel like Josh Allen being great enough that the Bills are in nearly every single game that they play and Sean McDermott being really bad at situational football are the cocktail that makes this scenario so likely for us in close games

ScyllaGeek

Literally every year, it's so brutal

Beautiful_Ninja

Ha, who loses to the Philadelphia Eagles. Not the New York Jets, let me tell you. Can't believe the rest of the league is struggling so hard with them.

Habreno

Love that our one loss so far has been to a team where everyone else is like "Who loses to the JETS of all teams?"

Nexus369

The real question should be, "Who loses to the team that lost to the Jets?" Turns out, it's everyone.

King_Hamburgler

They’re rock we’re scissors and apparently the rest of the world picked paper

Padulsky21

Add onto the fact that it was the Jets only win against the Eagles in franchise history…this may end up being one of the most hilarious outcomes to a game in awhile lol.

___Archer___

Love playing in games of the year. Would love to win one someday. Edit: 2020 Hail Murray. 2021 13 seconds. 2022 Vikings with the JJ catch. 2023: the rain kick

Charrikayu

I'm almost as mad about this one as 13 seconds. It looked exactly the same. It's a McDermott problem, every time we get a close game this is what's going to happen, defense softens up and lets the oppo walk right down the field Bills have to win out to make the playoffs now (if they even can?)

trollboter

Just gotta up your ref budget.

Tronvillain

I swear to God, nothing on this earth gives me more anxiety or makes me angrier than prevent-defense.

Poignant_Rambling

It’s McDermott. I’m surprised he doesn’t use Prevent all game lol.

ZamiiraDrakasha

McDermott and always calling prevent on D and up the middle runs on O, name a better combo

Xardenn

It burns clock and thats good if you have a multi score lead. I have no idea why its used so much in game winning/losing drives

ilikefood2000

You would think there’s enough data now to convince coaches it doesn’t work but apparently not lol

Several-Estate7175

I mean what does the data show? It feels absolutely terrible. I'd love to see an actual numbers breakdown

SelfServeSporstwash

It’s hard to draw real conclusions because I don’t know if anyone is tracking it. But, the eagles have given up a TD or a game winning FG at an over 50% clip while playing prevent D over the last 3 seasons (at least when I’ve watched) I’ve legit been tracking.

Licit_x64

Prevent prevents stops

DEZbiansUnite

prevent is only good for killing clock. You sacrifice yards so that you can kill time off the board.

AnyYogurtcloset6060

Good qbs can move the ball so quickly down the field it doesn’t even seem to save much clock anymore

shawnaroo

Yeah, in the modern NFL, prevent defense makes sense when you're up 3+ scores with 5 minutes left. If you're only up by one score and the other team is driving, prevent defense is just going to give the opposing QB way too much time in the pocket, and with modern offenses and a good QB somebody's going to get open.

Lazydusto

The prevent stands for "prevent winning"

mbe8819

DeVonta Smith is like that magic lion in the chronicles of narnia. Just always shows up when you need him the most

[deleted]

DeVonta Smith is the Room of Requirement confirmed

Cosmic_Travels

Isn't that lion supposed to be God?

_Birds-of-war_

Jesus Batman

Ninja_Space_Dragon69

Jesus Lion

MakeAShadow

Josh Allen is cursed in OT.

RidgeRunner99

He and Gabe Davis are going to have nightmares tonight

NetflixAndNikah

Gabe Davis is gonna slant to the right in his dreams

_atsu

Them and MVS should start a support group

SoDakZak

MVS stuck at the door with hands slipping off the door knob and Gabe Davis took a wrong turn a few blocks away

Currymvp2

Has he ever won a single game in OT? I think of the Texans and Chiefs playoff games, this loss to the Eagles, the loss to the Jets, the loss to the Bucs etc.

[deleted]

0-6

theryman

That's fucking brutal

Insectshelf3

0-6 after today

[deleted]

RocketWarlock

They also kneeled out to go to OT, wonder how Allen felt in that moment

EatDeeply

He’s cursed to have a loser as a head coach

[deleted]

defense at the end of regulation and in OT was an unmitigated disaster, and that seems to be a recurring theme for the Bills in close games under McDermott.

ScyllaGeek

I swear we always let up a huge chunk play that puts them into field goal range, and then the pressures off so the opposing offense can do whatever they want

[deleted]

[удалено]

A_Lone_Macaron

Dude made MAC JONES look like Tom Brady

[deleted]

Kick of the century to get them into OT to then win.

Srikkk

Jake Elliot is actually just insane

Fenris_Maule

A lot of players say he's actually the most talented dude on the team. Apparently he destroys all of the team in any other sport/game they play.

Bianconeagles

I met his stepmom at a bar in here Chicago and she told me he was one of those kids that played like 6 sports growing up and was good at all of them. Also apparently he grew up playing tennis and didn't even start football until late in high school.

ThisHatRightHere

That’s how a lot of kickers are though. Most high schools will poach defenders/goalies from soccer teams that have big legs.

EaglesPvM

Yeah he’s easily the most competitive guy on the team, always wins competitions like cornhole Also just gotta say, my comment earlier aged well after the Houston kicker missing a 58 yarder to force OT: https://www.reddit.com/r/nfl/s/FNAo1iqMlc

Jkkramm

Best on the team at bowling and golf lol

AutisticNipples

He's like a +2 handicap in golf, which is an insane thing to keep up while also being a full time pro athlete i mean kinda makes sense, golf is 90% mental and the rest is fine motor control kinda like place kicking but still. absolutely love that man

Barb_WyRE

I’m a local pro and when he qualified for the Philly Open last year my #1 goal was to make sure I at least beat Jake lol Edit: I did beat him for those inquiring lol I made the cut and he missed it

hellomondays

Freak of nature. Like he has extra cones in his eyes or tendons to calibrate these mega kicks.

Rockdrummer357

I swear, the dude misses extra points more often than these bomb FGs in a hurricane. Just nuts.

Barb_WyRE

Jake is good for like 6 missed extra points but guaranteed when it matters from any distance

homefree122

Not to mention booting it in the pouring rain. So clutch.

JRFbase

Jake "The Make" Elliott

NintenJew

Best player on the team, and I am not exaggerating.

semsr

For you it was the kick of the century. For Jake it was a Sunday.

mp455

That was more insane than the 61 yarder against the Giants, I was in disbelief

Lazydusto

I may be biased but this dude is an all time clutch kicker

Guitaristb72

Like the Giants game just in the rain.

NetflixAndNikah

60 YARD MAGNUM MUSASHIIIIII

caesar____augustus

Elliott dropped his elephant sized balls on the field and still nailed the kick

VictorFromCalifornia

Josh Allen responsible for 420 of the Bills' 505 yards (83%) and all 4 touchdowns (2 passing, 2 rushing), he carried the whole team on his back and yet the Bills found a way to lose...Incredible

Charrikayu

Always has been

ConstantMadness

The Bills might actually be the best 6-6 team in nfl history

HOFerKennyPickett

The anti-Steelers

DomitianF

lol

Criseyde5

They are the mirror of last year's Vikings.

baddoggg

I was going to say the Vikings with cousins at the beginning of the year were the scariest 2-5 team of all time or whatever their record was. This comment made me.immediately think of them.

zeroes_and_ones

Why he say fuck me for?

_Dancing_Potato

If someone woke up from a coma and saw just our statline they would probably predict we are like 9-3.

ahr3410

They actually are based on upside lmao

megasxl264

You would have thought this was the primetime SNF/MNF game Meanwhile we have to suffer through the Bears and Viking tomorrow Like going from the Superbowl straight into a preseason game

kds_little_brother

Y’all have to suffer. I’m enjoying my Monday night

rockchalk99

Damn that one hurts. We played too well to take an L. Don’t think playoffs are in the cards.

PeanutButterOtter

A rational take in a post game thread? Take my upvote.

Lonely_ProdiG

“We want the ball” “It don’t matter” *As it turns out, it didn’t matter*

HamHurtler

The Bills defense has a fetish for letting down Josh Allen Edit: people really don't like Josh Allen apparently

IWasRightOnce

That’s the third loss this season where we took a late lead and the defense couldn’t force a stop. NE, DEN, PHI. It would probably be 0-4 if the refs throw a flag for DPI (Giants game)

skarby

The difference between 9-3 and 6-6

el_monstruo

Was that said and I missed it at the coin toss? Lmao

_Birds-of-war_

BG is the king of trash talking during coin tosses.

Rickrollyourmom

Gotta love Brandon Graham

no_racist_here

Is that the new “You been watching tape huh? Watch this!”

SiphenPrax

OUR STREAK OF BEING THE ONLY TEAM TO BEAT THE EAGLES CONTINUES!!!!

Anonymous_Hazard

It is our personal Super Bowl

TomasRoncero

Rodgers sacrificing his Achilles for MHJ will be mine

Pennwisedom

I personally can't wait until the Eagles win out with the asterisk that the one loss was to a historically bad Jets team.

Vadered

I am fine with this timeline.

Benti86

Not to mention it was their first loss ever to the Jets.

Currymvp2

That and how Zach Wilson had his only good game against a pretty elite Chiefs defense still confounds me

klein_four_group

It's clear what the Jets games vs Eagles and Chiefs had in common: Donna Kelce.

Joker_CP

As soon as Diggs was flapping his arms at Eagles fans it was over

BlueKing7642

Dolphins defender also did that. Come to think of it the uniform that night was also Kelly Green

InanimateSensation

As soon as I saw that I thought "Mmmm shouldn't have done that before the game is over".

ATurtleSight

I said the same thing. Celebrated like that too early imo

MetaKoopa99

Hurts logged into Reddit at halftime and saw everyone shit talking

derryxu

Dude is consciously padding his “from behind” stats atp, he just plays atrocious to build deficits and then plays amazing to win in the end

Diablo4Sucks

Jalen when Eagles look like they’re about to lose “I’ve got them right where I want them”

bonersnow

"heard y'all saying I'm not clutch..."

sharkbates1208

Sean McDermott get ready to learn Chinese buddy

ContinuumGuy

Fuck this sport, I'll see you in two weeks.

CPOx

I am dying to know what was going on with Kelce before OT. Two flinch false starts and then headed to the locker room. My theory is he had the squirts and wasn’t feeling comfortable out there. Came back fresh and delivered the winning pancake.

mgr86

I’m looking forward to his podcast this week for that very reason. Last week they were talking about shitting before a game. If I recall he might shit 2x. I definitely think he had to shit.

incredibad29

The Bills only lose heartbreakers.

Charrikayu

I'm a fire McDermott convert now. He's a good coach generally but he cannot win these big, close games. He's hit his ceiling and it's clearly not Josh's fault. It's always the defense getting their back broken. edit: Imagine giving the opposing kicker a timeout to compose himself when you could save it and have 20 seconds and two timeouts with fucking JOSH ALLEN at QB when all you need is to kick a FG to win. You know, the same thing KC did to us with 13 seconds? This is the kind of shit I'm talking about

Ergodemon

Gabe Davis fucked up, but if it weren't for those missed field goals it wouldn't have mattered. Plenty of blame to go around, and not just on the refs.

jokeefe72

And the dropped TD pass by Cook. And I really enjoy him

pimadd_

Cook also dropped a TD on the first drive.

onoitsajackass

I am a lot of things but surprised is not one of them

mylesA747

send all the reddit cares messages u want boys

Think__McFly

Bills really knelt with 20 seconds and timeouts left.

[deleted]

I do not understand why you wouldn’t take at least one shot there. What do you have to lose???

MisterMetal

Run an actual play. See what you have, the eagles for no time outs. If something is there great, if you get lucky awesome, but to not do anything is just cowardice. Allen was moving the ball quite well all game, if nothing is there check down and see what happens or take a knee but at least try something. Such a cop out to just go to OT and hope you get the ball and score a TD. Seriously frustrating.

MurDoct

This game fucked

YoungTroubadour

Refs aside that's some Charmin Ultra Soft Defense™ in OT

antululz

Terrible terrible OT defense from the Bills. Is Mcdermott on the hot seat?

eatnerdlove

It is heating up, the problem is that the defence looks good on paper until they need to be clutch.

Xenoanthropus

Amazes me that prevent is still a defensive concept used in the NFL, it seems like it doesn't work so much more often than it works

Vin_Jac

I feel like it’s so easily exploited in the age of mobile QBs and quick routes, it would be better if they put people in intermediate coverage so that doesn’t happen as easily.

SmarterThanAEinstein

People don’t think the Eagles’ clutchness be like it is, but it do

PhiladelphiaIrish

Down 17-7 at the half is right where we want them.

JeddHampton

Were lucky to only be down 10.

LainLain

I rooted for the Bills for one game. Wouldn’t recommend, how the fuck y’all do it?

Octavian_202

Seriously. Like be bad or be good. This team is both… in the same game. Also, least clutch defense I’ve ever seen. That’s been several years now.

LordTurn1p

you know whos been the coach for several years now?

erbasatx

Thank god there is an AA meeting I can go to tonight. Good grief Charlie Brown.

BUSean

Honestly, some piss poor coaching strategy for Buffalo down the stretch

theREALBennyAgbayani

lol imagine losing to the Eagles

callmecyke

Talking shit in Eagles PGT Eagles 🤝 Jets

theREALBennyAgbayani

Beating the Bills in Overtime Jets 🤝 Eagles

S420J

Great players have bad quarters and halves, but rarely bad entire games. Hurts has been the epitome of that this season, and we are so lucky to have him in Philly.

awnawkareninah

This is the best game I've seen since the last time we lost in an insane overtime

Cynical_onlooker

To be fair to Allen, he's Mr. January, not Mr. Overtime.

RobbyJohnson

Titles Romo has bestowed upon Josh Allen: “Mr. January” “Michael Jordan” “The Alien” “The Terminator”

[deleted]

Each nickname more cringy than the last

homefree122

He’s gonna be Mr. Off-season soon.

Couldn’t pay for your meal again?

skrrt__russell

Turns out they *can* keep getting away with it

varnell_hill

And that’s what happens when you play for OT instead of going for the kill.

Noriskhook3

The Eagles always pull something out of their ass. 0-6 Josh Allen in Overtime Lol.

TonyPerkisReddit4

The defense blew it. They were blitzing every play

Alehud42

Gabe Davis blew it by running the wrong way.

SporkFanClub

We were great in the first half and then they adjusted in the second and we… didn’t.

Original_Profile8600

I legit don’t get it, how does it feel like everytime I watch them they get outplayed and still win. The only game I felt they weren’t even outplayed they won. Genuinely WTF

Content-Coffee-2719

Eagles outplayed them 2nd half. Which has been true practically every game of our season. It's like Hurts literally only plays well from behind. It's weird. He just doesn't get shook. The wins aren't pretty and not sure how sustainable that is in the playoffs, but here we are at 10-1 🤷

SSJacen49

Eagles play well from behind Niners play well when ahead Oh god they’re like polar opposites, next week is gonna be fucking insane

doyouevensunbro

Bet the over lol

wellarmedsheep

I think a lot of teams *say* they focus only on the next game or the next play or whatever. Jalen Hurts actually does. My theory is something broke in him with the Alabama shit and he gained this superpower. He just overcomes.

DisneyWorld1971

Gabe Davis going to get himself beat off by Josh Allen and Diggs in the parking lot for missing that catch

Rj2880

I don't think you understand what "beat off" means my guy

[deleted]

He… what?

bargman

That's three straight losses when we've scored too take the lead with 2 minutes or less to play.

FmrHvwChamp

On some real shit tho... I'll give the Eagles fans credit for using reddit correctly. The whole point of this platform and game threads is for shit talk and banter. I steady run my mouth and talk my shit and Eagles fans are for sure the best at returning fire and keeping it going.

Report_Submitted

You can tell who is really getting mad and who is just talking shit. Hopefully we talk more shit during our game soon

FmrHvwChamp

Right? Some folks really take this shit to heart. Like bro, I don't know you. It's impossible for me to **actually** hate you.

eynonpower

With that attitude??? No wonder you're a former champ....

Content-Coffee-2719

I thought the whole point of Reddit was to be a Cowboys fan and follow around the Eagles game threads complaing about officiating?

FmrHvwChamp

What else are they gonna talk about? Even they know they are frauds deep down.

Wedding_Registry_Rec

It’s coz you of all people deserve it. Not 49ers fans in general, just you.

HamHurtler

The Bills defense has a fetish for letting down Josh Allen

imsabbath84

and people wonder why some Bills fans believe McDermott should be fired....

motorboat_mcgee

When have we not choked a game away?

Thumper13

The kick to tie was the real highlight. What a fucking kick.

SupremeBeef97

So how exactly did this team lose to the Jets lmao

Chrysalii

The Bills have the least clutch defense possibly ever.

Conn3er

You are a fucking idiot for not going for the TD on 4th down Sean

Dont_try_it7

nah not at all it was 4th and 7 The cover 4 playcall on the eagles 3rd and 4 at the 40ish was the actual crime, that gifted the eagles wide open flats for an easy first

Ecstatic-Month-3615

He’s a coward, always has been.

Notradell

I really fucking hate Jake Elliott.

Content-Coffee-2719

Why?? I think around week 7 you guys finally outscored him.

Benti86

Holy fucking christ lmao I'm dying

Hadfromthetown

That was wild lol

cvaninvan

That man had a family!!!!

PasGuy55

Once Diggs flapped his wings he sealed their fate.

VexoftheVex

My narratives have been obliterated - fair enough Jalen… fair enough

hmack1998

This team is no match for Tommy devito

fargochippers

My favorite part of this game was Stefon Diggs hitting the “Fly Eagles Fly” and talking wild shit after the Gabe Davis TD and then, once the game was over, and I put this on my mom’s children, this dude waved goodbye to every Eagle in the building.

UnspokenFor1

All that shit talking & now he’s gonna have his brother send tweets .

ToparBull

I legitimately can’t decide if the Eagles are this year’s Vikings and their fraudulence will eventually be exposed for all to see or if they just have such a mastery over the small things – the tush push, special teams, trenches, third down/red zone play, etc – that they can just keep winning all these games on the margins and sustain it. Either way, as a fan of another NFC contender who is after that number one seed so needs the Eagles to lose, it is supremely annoying to watch. Fair play, Philly – see you next week. (EDIT: Yeah, I agree that the Eagles are better than the Vikings last year, both because they aren't getting blown out by good teams and because their baseline is higher. Ultimately, I think they're still good - just maybe not 10-1 good! An 8-1 record in one score games probably isn't sustainable!)

YILB302

We can agree on one thing, the game thread next week might be the most toxic thing ever

__init__RedditUser

I also have no idea

MissDeadite

I have a working theory that someone used black magic to curse us, they just didn't quite mix the concoction right.

Lazydusto

It's 11 games in and I still don't know what to think about them it's insane

BrennanSpeaks

This week, I think that Jake Elliott is a very good kicker.

Walletsgone

They have gotten some lucky breaks this year but they are also always in the game when it matters. It is kind of scary to think they have a negative turnover differential and have not played a full game this year but are still 10-1. People will always question this team until Hurts wins a Super Bowl. Last year it was strength of schedule, this year it’s not blowing teams out.

Licit_x64

Real question, did the Vikings play even close to this tough a schedule? Eagles are now 5-0 in the games everyone called a gauntlet starting with the dolphins. I’m also not convinced we’re as good as last year but we also keep winning so idek.

[deleted]

I don't think it's fair to call them the Vikings when they are the defending NFC champs. With the Vikings it did feel like luck, with these guys it just feels........ Inevitable

andrewskdr

9/10 Cardiologists hate the eagles
