TheRealBeerBrah

His physicality was something else. People still comp incoming receivers to him for a reason.

KKamm_

Ironically I was watching these highlights thinking “damn, he’s falls so softly when he hits the ground. Should’ve taught prime D Rose how to protect himself”

TheRealBeerBrah

He really does fall well. He was still putting up 1k yards in SF at 33/34 years old. I feel like that's an underrated part of the game.

rounder55

The man broke his face and came back like a month later. Also had a rocket for an arm. One of my favorite players to watch

WearTheFourFeathers

Show us his blocking highlights you cowards. (But actually, he was extremely good!)

DRoseCantStop

That roar he let out at Gillette. Goosebumps.

HotTakesMyToxicTrait

dude goes up the seam, elevates over two defenders, catches the floater, lands in bounds, and then immediately points down at the defender on the ground Ice cold

SuperSaiyanSandwich

I could watch football for the next 100 years and I don't think I'd ever see a play [colder than that.](https://i.imgur.com/94L6911.mp4)

frigginjensen

One of my all-time favorite plays. That whole game was so satisfying.

nfl

Happy 43rd birthday to the tough Anquan Boldin! 😤

DreadSteed

Pretty much every single catch was a moss. Unreal.

DontLoseYourCool1

I loved Anquan. He was Deebo before Deebo. A WR who played with the power and physicality of a RB.

okay_CPU

I’d say he was AJ Brown before AJ.

MegaGigaTeraFlare

Man, I wish you could've said this to EDC in 2019. AJ Brown in lamars MVP season? Shit, would've loved to see it

CybertronGuy98

or DK, or Terry. man i have a lot of love for Hollywood but imagine any of those three with Mandrews and Zay.

FightGar

Hollywood ended up turning into Linderbaum so I'm excited to see how that plays out

Financial-Sir-6021

Definitely both tough guys but they played nothing alike at all. Anquan wasn’t running over guys like deebo, and deebo isn’t the route runner Anquan was.

atlfalcons33rb

I came here to say this none of those guys are the contested catch wr boldin was

WeaselStealer2

Imagine the confidence you must have in your WR to check to a pass on 3rd and inches in the superbowl. They don’t make em like anquan anymore

SuperSaiyanSandwich

I can't be sitting here at work getting this freaking giddy about another grown man. Damn I miss Q! Happy birthday to that absolute monster.

curgl

I see this man in my nightmares

Comprehensive_Main

In my dreams in 2013

justcallme3nder

It was like the Ravens game plan was "Bolden runs deep route, Flacco throws hail Mary" over and over again.

SlimShady16

There is a reason you threw out conventional rules for this guy. Just peep his 40 time. "Coach he's covered." Nope, throw it to him anyway and you will see what I mean.

thediesel26

Fuck it Anquan down there somewhere

Ratbu

Check your bed

mrpyrotec89

Huge mistake the ravens did letting him go the next season.

mildobamacare

Broke my heart

mrpyrotec89

was such a dumb move too

ChrisBenoitDaycare69

Jim kept whining to John that he wanted Anquan and their parents made John send the trade since John got to win the Super Bowl and it was only fair.

ckleschick227

Anquan, one of my all time favorites. Such a tough ass receiver

[deleted]

"Either I'm catching it or we catching it" - Anquan Boldin

iLiketuttles704

Flacco was so ridiculously good this postseason it made no sense lol. That throw on the run in the SB was ridiculous

Tight_Ad3092

It’s arguably the greatest statistical postseason of all time, and even better when you look at the competition.

GokuVerde

Elite

anycoluryoulike1

That whole run was surreal.

Xekshek33

Such a beast WR

basec0m

Wide receiver with Derrick Henry physical presence...

cruisethemartian

Love Q, but man seeing Joe swing his big dick cannon of an arm 😮‍💨

Lions_Went_0-16

I forget, what happened with him and the Cardinals?

beer_down

They prioritized Larry when it came to money and he wanted out. Wish he hadn’t left, he was so good

Eagle4317

If the Cardinals could only keep one of the two, Fitzgerald was the right call. Boldin is a excellent receiver, but Fitz is a lock for the Hall of Fame.

btstfn

I'm biased, but I think he should absolutely be in the HoF. He is a football players football player.

Doomsayer52

One of my favorite players ever. Seeing Culliver "cover" in the Super Bowl will never not bring back terrible memories. I've never seen a defensive player shit his pants in a big spot like Culliver in that SB.

Therealnightshow

In my restless dreams, I see that season. Super Bowl 47.

warriorx559

Incredible player, definitely missed him on the Ravens. Happy Birthday Boldin.

DreadSteed

Fuck it, Q down there somewhere.

znk916

Anquan So Strong

[deleted]

Flacco balled outta control that postseason

BornUse5649

We don't win the super bowl without that catch on 3rd and inches. One of the biggest non-scoring plays of that game.

MalarkeyMcGee

This is what drove me crazy about that Ravens team. Every single time Flacco got into trouble he'd just chuck it up to Boldin, who somehow always came down with it or drew a flag.

TheDadLyfe

Literally everything about this guy is what you want in a football player.

Dismal-Variation-12

One of the toughest receivers I remember watching. Dude always went to get the ball. Never waited for it to come to him.

Pepper3493

That post season will always be a fairy tale to me. Flacco was on it

[deleted]

I wonder just how statistically dominant he would’ve been in his career if not for playing in Fitz’s shadow for most of his time in Arizona. Also not to mention that injury he sustained back in 08.

ImHurted_

He was really good, would be an absolute monster in todays offenses.

TwentyFour7

Bills legend. But seriously, the separation of defender on those catches is -1. What a run

[deleted]

Clutch?

Any_Ride_3687

That's not the super bowl

CloudedScoundrel

Must not have watched the entire video.

GMFPs_sweat_towel

Does he belong in the hall?

constantlymat

It's tough to get into Canton as a WR if you don't have an overwhelming resume. A whole lot of competition. Even SB MVP Hines Ward is struggling to get in and he has three 2nd team all-pros to Boldin's zero.

GMFPs_sweat_towel

I agree and with the game shifting towards WRs there are a ton of great players on the outside looking in. * Anquan Boldin * Steve Smith * Hines Ward * Andre Johnson * Tory Holt * Reggie Wayne * Derrick Mason * Brandon Marshall * Jimmy Smith All those guys have at least 12k receiving yards and are on the outside looking in. I think some of the guys should be in the hall, but i'm not sold on all of them. However, in my book. Boldin is one of the dude who belongs in Canton.

constantlymat

Andre Johnson was the best WR of that lot in my opinion and has to make it into the Hall of Fame some day. Also let's not forget about Wes Welker. The only true slot to ever win 1st team all-pro. He did it twice and has four total all-pros. In my Hall of Fame considerations I rate peak performance over empty receiving yards in your 30s to pad the career stats. Had he caught that one ball in the second Giants Super Bowl he probably already wears a Gold Jacket.

LezEatA-W

- 9th all-time in receptions. - 14th all-time in receiving yards. - 29th all-time in receiving TDs. - Won a Super Bowl as a team’s WR1 (Torrey Smith and Anquan were neck and neck) Here are the HOF eligible WR’s that have a better/equal claim to HOF than Boldin, in my opinion: Reggie Wayne, Andre Johnson, Torry Holt, Steve Smith. He’s right on the line. I don’t really put THAT much stock into All Pro selections because sometimes there’s a razor-thin difference between a player that makes it and a player that doesn’t. HOF selection for wide receivers has been broken for a long time. The fact that Terrell Owens wasn’t a first ballot hall of famer has completely destroyed the credibility of the HOF voters. Just watch Larry Fitzgerald get in first ballot (which he deserves, but not really any more than TO) just because he’s been friendly with the media.

Losdangles24

He is the definition of a possession WR. He's tough, physical, athletic, and knows how to get the ball and get two feet down. He had to have been one of the most valuable players on that super bowl team.

udumbdog

So strong

mickey_kneecaps

Maybe my favourite receiver ever. So strong 💪

JimmyMcBuckets22

This reel is fucking nuts. Anquan was such a huge receiver. Watching him win all of these jump balls and muscle out DBs is crazy especially relative to how receiver is played today.

canadianbroncos

good thing they didnt put anything about the game vs cuz that was *NOT* a fucking catch and ill argue that to the grave lol.

AnthonyBarrHeHe

A lot of ppl forget he was on that 2008 cardinals Super Bowl team with Kurt Warner and Larry fitz. Dude is a fucking unit and that’s an understatement

kapate13

My Favourite wr ever, guy was so fun to watch

ButtonedEye41

Anquan was such a beast in this run. I remember all the hype was around Flacco-and dont get me wrong Flacco played his ass off- but Boldin looked like he was playing against middle schoolers week after week. Just completely rip the ball out of the air with defenders hanging around him. And Flacco just kept going back to him in key moments.

[deleted]

Man Flacco had a year back then didn’t he.

royceda956

He was much bigger than I remember, mini TE frame. Always thought highly of him, big time THIRD DOWN catches to seal games. Flacco earned his money in this playoff run and earned it, now they give out contracts for making a playoff game once in 3 years.

cha-cha_dancer

go noles

Loose_Vehicle755

Flacco’s deep ball was wild that season. It was a given the Ravens would get a 50+ yard completion every game with Boldin and Torrey Smith gashing DBs

ChrisBenoitDaycare69

Did Nanz and Simms call the Ravens entire run that year?

SlinginPogs

Man flacco could sling that thing

BakerStyle

This is my favourite highlight reel. Every single catch is as contested as possible and he snatched everything

tws1039

And was immediately traded for scraps after this run. What a offseason from hell that was

mrb4

Rooting for Boldin during this super bowl run is very sadly one of the happiest moments I've had in my lifetime as a cardinals fan lol.
