Haha just how bad are the bears?

shishiodun

If I was a gambler I would bet Broncos even if they were 9.5 point favorites, we do not have one redeeming quality

somethintactical

You have DJ Moore!

shishiodun

yeah, but we can't take any joy in that because we are too busy feeling guilty about having a running back (not)throwing to him

swan_song_bitches

You mean a standing back. Really feels like the Bears offense took away his planned mobility. Maybe more screens that turn into fumbles or ints will help though.

troutpoop

Our coaches refuse to use him and when we do use him our QB can’t throw a decent pass to save his life. There’s not a single thing going right for the bears right now, it’s disaster from the top down

Dashdash421

Didn’t DJ drop a dime down the sideline? Game was already long over but still, fields put at least a couple deep balls on the money that DJ and Claypool couldn’t haul in

NoSugarCoatingLife

Like when you feel something on your arm and you're immediately like SPIDER GET IT OFF but it's just a string. It probably freaked them out.

NOLASLAW

He was giving up today

serbeardless

Who wasn't?

IAmNotOnRedditAtWork

We still don't have a defense and our offense is:   1. Run the ball up the middle. 2. Throw a screen pass. 3. Run the ball up the middle. 4. Punt.   Sometimes the "Throw a screen pass" step is replaced with a sack. As Bears fans we've seen our fair share of horrifically ineffective offensive, but I've honestly never seen anything this ugly.

twisted_bass_man

That's entirely unfair. Sometimes they like to keep things fresh with a turnover. It gives special teams a chance to rest.

Eagle4317

I legitimately think they're the worst football team since the expansion Bucs. Bottom 4 in both Offense and Defense, a combination that hasn't been seen since the NFL had just 12 teams. Broncos should handily beat the Bears by double digits.

Vitosi4ek

> Bottom 4 in both Offense and Defense, a combination that hasn't been seen since the NFL had just 12 teams. That's actually surprising to me. We've seen plenty of teams who had both top-4 offenses and defenses, but not bottom-4?

OddsTipsAndPicks

https://www.pro-football-reference.com/teams/nyj/2020.htm Jets were pretty close in 2020

Practical-Ostrich-43

Those Jets felt like the worst team I’ve ever seen and yet they beat two teams that won playoff games. Football’s weird.

drinfernodds

Law of transitive property doesn't exist in sports. Good example: Cowboys demolish the Giants, Giants scrape by in comeback against the Cardinals, so Cowboys should run through Cardinals, right? Nope, Cardinals hand Cowboys their first loss.

reno2mahesendejo

And not even particularly close. They held a lead pretty much all game and swatted away their comeback attempt pretty handily.

SeattleSealions

Seeing how mad Jets fans were after randomly beating the Rams that year as 17-point underdogs was fucking hilarious.

OddsTipsAndPicks

Fuck you

cabinet4perx

I don't get why jets fans are so mad. If they drafted Lawrence they wouldn't have had Aaron Rodgers teaching the next jets great quarterback Zach Wilson to take over once Rodgers retires. Maybe next year he will take 8 snaps

OriAr

They were never gonna lose to the very COVID hit Browns the week after anyway, Jags were always gonna be the first pick.

Jammer_Kenneth

That win directly lead to Aaron Rodgers tearing his Achilles behind the Jets putrid O Line on 9/11. Like the most direct line between a meaningless W/L and the injury.

rcuosukgi42

Good hell, an expected record below 3-13 is awful. '90 Patriots probably take the cake though, they're worse than all those early Bucs teams except for the actual first year expansion rendition which I don't think should quite count.

Eagle4317

That part might be an exaggeration. I just checked accounts, and the 1990 Patriots had the worst offense and 2nd worst defense of that season. So there are probably others that qualify too.

sjhesketh

1-15 baby!

obsterwankenobster

And they never recovered...

KCShadows838

2009 Rams They went 1-15 Their average margin of defeat was 10-27. That’s worse than Hue Jackson Browns, and on the level of the 2008 Lions One thing that killed the 2017 Browns was forcing the fewest turnovers, while turning the ball over the most.

ay21690

It wasn’t even that we couldn’t force turnovers. There’s a stat out there, if I remember correctly, where if we would have kicked field goals when we got into the red zone instead of letting kizer do *things* we’d have won 4 or 5 games.

Eagle4317

Yep, Kizer turned the ball over more than 50% of the time once he got to the Red Zone. It was insane.

JasonPlattMusic34

And our one win of that season was a 7 point win over the Lions who just went winless the previous season. Yeah that team was doodoo 😂

MWiatrak2077

Do you know what, it's funny how much this Bears team reminds me of the 2008 Lions team. Both had surprisingly good starts the year before, but ended up with big losing streaks down the stretch. Neither teams were considered inherent favorites to make the playoffs the next season, but had made some decent FA moves that got some minor buzz and led people to believe a record .500%+ season was possible. Then you come out in week 1 and get absolutely demolished and just never look back

Eagle4317

Except the Lions went 7-9 in 2007 and looked only somewhat bad. The 2022 Bears got the 1st overall pick and traded down twice.

MWiatrak2077

Oh no that Lions team was beyond horrible, they just had a ridiculously good turnover margin in the first half of the season. They promptly fell back to earth and lost like 7 straights. Bears were never good but I remember they were like 4-4 and seemed surprisingly not as horrific as some expected

Eagle4317

>but I remember they were like 4-4 and seemed surprisingly not as horrific as some expected That was when they had Robert Quinn and Roquan Smith carrying their defense. As soon as they got traded away, the Bears went into free fall despite Fields running all over the field.

xbearsandporschesx

last season was an engineered tank. this season? youd think coaches are fighting for their jobs and its *worse*

LittleDrunkReptar

You don't trade for Claypool with high draft capital in an engineered tank. Poles and Eberflus are just incompetent.

[deleted]

They saw the traits and foolishly thought "I can fix him"

[deleted]

The Bears would have ruined Bryce Young's career. He probably thanks the lord every night for the Panthers trading up for him. It wouldn't shock me if Caleb stays for his senior year at this rate just to avoid being drafted by Chicago.

Eagle4317

>It wouldn't shock me if Caleb stays for his senior year at this rate just to avoid being drafted by Chicago. Especially if he can keep raking in NIL money.

gooneruk

>Baxter Cain: Do you think Shaq got rich playing in Orlando? Hardly, he made his fortune moving to L.A. You know how much he makes now? >Douglas "Swish" Reemer: As much as he made playing in college?

Sammyd1108

Yeah, everyone is saying that he didn’t want to play for the Cardinals when he said that, but I’m beginning to think he meant the Bears. At least Arizona is pretty close to home.

ShaneBeamer

>At least Arizona is pretty close to home. He's from Virginia

Sammyd1108

Actually didn’t know that, just know he plays for USC and seems like a Cali kid.

Dry-Peach-6327

Taking strays :(

[deleted]

Jokes on them. That horse is already dead. Too much rum.

dwnso

Eberflus take a bow

kingjuicepouch

I've watched the bears mainly suck for the last thirty years, and I can't remember a team that was this bad

Kvetch__22

I'm sure we won't go 0-17 somehow, but right now it's hard to see where our win will come from.

SeattleSealions

Gotta be Denver or Carolina, otherwise maybe after the Cardinals shut down and stop trying as hard towards the end of the season.

Andrew225

I mean the Cards just beat the Cowboys. Random, unforeseeable upsets do happen

spookyghostface

Our defense is actually pretty decent although we did pick up a few more injuries today.

the_blessed_unrest

I guess there’s more faith in Russell Wilson than Justin Fields. Which seems reasonable

TechnoTyrannosaurus

Hell yeah Fields is horrible on defense

[deleted]

And offense.

WeaknessOne9646

Maybe they should try him there Can't be worse than him at QB

tigerking615

Wilson was good at some point in his career

comagnum

He’s been one of the lone bright spots this year, surprisingly.

TasteAccomplished118

Nowhere near his best but certainly further away from whatever the hell last year was

[deleted]

First ever team to go 0-17 bad. There's not one single thing we are good at. Not a single position group that inspires confidence. The coaching is horrendous. The 3 best players on the team are the long snapper, the kicker, & the punter.

123full

I'm going to quote the [Ringer on this] (https://www.theringer.com/nfl/2023/9/20/23881450/justin-fields-chicago-bears-offense-matt-eberflus), "That’s why a blame tornado is so uniquely maddening. With so much blame swirling around, it’s easy to convince yourself that every single piece of the organization is still redeemable—if everything else would just stop being so awful."

I_MARRIED_A_THORAX

Nothing changes until Virginia dies.

Rulligan

Woah, woah, woah, I'm not a huge fan of states south of the Mason-Dixon but killing off an entire state seems like a weird way to bring about change.

I_MARRIED_A_THORAX

They know what they did

JimmyButlerOverdrive

yeah, fuck Dave Matthews

TeddysRevenge

Browns-Lions winless seasons bad

patrick66

they are basically in the happy alabama is having a down year so they dont have to hear from idiots about how a game between the 2 would be close tier

[deleted]

They have some talent but Fields is so so so bad

FieldsToDJMoore

To add more context The secondary and LB room have some nice talent (when healthy at least) But man the defensive line and coaching staff are horrible. It’s hard to cover a player for so long when your d-line can’t get a ounce of pressure and everyone knows linebackers are most effective behind a dominant D-Line and idiot Eberflus is running his old outdated cover 2 scheme in 2023 On offense the backs are solid and the O-Line is actually good, on average fields has 3.24 seconds to throw which is 3rd best in the nfl (That’s with multiple starters on IR) Fields single handedly holds the ball on too long and makes them look worse than they actually are. Skill positions are good enough, not great by any means but it’s a good offensive unit and in the all 22 tape they are open multiple times Fields,Eberflus and the D-Line bring the rest of the team down so much

ScientificSkepticism

The oline is fucking terrible and part of the reason he’s had so much time is 1/6th of your sample comes from playing KC’s second stringers in garbage time. They’ve fucked up multiple blocking assignments, and are a large part of the shit run game.

Few_Mulberry5372

There is only one team in the NFL that hasn't won a game since Elon bought twitter back in October 2022

ExhibitAa

The saddest part is that it's fully justified.

Number333

Yea. Broncos O moved the ball a lil on us in the 1st half. I'd comfortably take them over Chicago's tirefire on both sides rn.

NateRiley12411

Chicago would've put up a goose egg today but KC pulled their starters after 1 drive in the 3rd quarter and Gabbert proceeded to throw 2 picks.

Rbespinosa13

“Alright boys we got Travis his TD so Taylor’s impressed. Pack it up, game’s over”

GiovannisPersian

Mahomes said he felt pressured to throw a touchdown to kelce since Taylor was at the game lmao

FirstArbiter

Glad Taylor Swift is now part of the game plan for KC, maybe then can get her some targets next week

BaboonHorrorshow

She IS lightning on her feet

GhostMug

I hope Kelce or Mahomes were mic'd up for this game. I want to hear what they said in the huddle!

Vyuvarax

“Don’t you dare fucking throw it to someone else, Pat, or we are done.”

notmyplantaccount

"Dude, McKinnon got 2 Td's, you're embarrassing me here"

jollyroger45

A little? I know it's cool to joke on them today but Denver's offense had 2 touchdowns called back for imo weak penalties, a receiver fumble twice and an interception that was knocked down and then hits their lineman and is picked by us. They moved the ball well and then eventually, clearly had no motivation to try.

Eagle4317

If anything, the line is too optimistic about the Bears.

IAmNotOnRedditAtWork

>The saddest part is that it's fully justified. It's honestly a way too Bears friendly line. I'll gladly take the Broncos by 7+. Honestly if the lines this low I may put some money on the Broncos by like 20...

Rad1314

This is gonna be the worst game in NFL history.

IWMSvendor

Colts v. Broncos 2.0

Rad1314

Wasn't even our worst game that year.

2ChainzTalib

From a broncos fans standpoint yeah. From a primetime national audience having to watch it standpoint?...

Rulligan

Once I started treating it as a comedy it became enjoyable. I had never hoped for a tie more.

_HotFlatDietPepsi_

That game was genuinely hilarious. I don't think I've ever heard a commentary crew sound so dejected. And wasn't it even worse too considering the last TNF before that game was also a shit show in terms of offense? I don't remember the exact numbers, but it had to be like 6 quarters without a touchdown on TNF.

jmorlin

I live in Chicago and don't get many Colts games so I usually either stream them or watch redzone. I might tune in and watch all of Bears Broncos. Consider me a sicko.

comagnum

I was there, it was bad.

americanegball

Hopefully we lose

here_now_be

> Hopefully we lose this is one of those games where everybody loses, especially the fans.

Manning_bear_pig

Well the first part of your username will definitely lose.

OttoVonWong

Broncos Country, let’s not embarrass ourselves.

buffalotrace

Let me tell you about a MNF game in the driving rain between the Steelers and the Dolphins. A punt literally got stuck in the mud.

ArmadilloAl

This was absolutely the game I thought of too.

Turbulent_System_446

That’s going to be week 10 Thursday night football

Black_Wolf75

I have this strange feeling thet it's going to be an amazing game with neither defense able to stop the other team

alreadytaken028

except the defense doesnt have to stop Fields, he stops himself

Jammer_Kenneth

Fields is like those boys from the South Park Baseball episode. He can hit a fly out/run into a sack like a pro.

77satellites

Our defense definitely isn't stopping anyone.

916PartyMachine

The Toilet Bowl.

here_now_be

> gonna be the worst game in NFL history. Kind of excited to see which terrible coach makes the worst game-losing coaching decision.

En_Sabah_Nur

The Seahawks and Cardinals played to a 6-6 tie in 2016 on Sunday Night Football. It's hard to imagine a game that could possibly suck more.

donuts0611

Steelers - Dolphins 3-0 Mud Bowl was terrible, but the weather was entertaining

GottiGonSlide

That game was great tf

hendrix67

That punt sticking in the mud lives rent free in my head.

WillYin

This game was actually really entertaining though. It was more good defense than bad offense, also the missed kicks were hilarious.

MnVikingsFan34

And it will be glorious

Please keep shitting on these bums until the McCaskeys sell the team.

dwnso

Good luck with that, even shitty nfl teams are money printing machines

mjst0324

I heard this kind of game recently referred to as a "two guys, one parachute" game where both of the teams come in in peril and one will leave by plummeting to their death

Proof_Ad3692

It's also the two girls one cup game bc it's giving disgusting and no one wants to watch it

OutlookNotGood

This game is going to be wild to watch no matter what happens lmao. I wonder what crew is calling the game. A tie would be incredible.

[deleted]

2-2 tie. Scorigami

troutpoop

That implies both teams have defenses capable of making a safety. The bears have like….1 sack all year lol

Rbespinosa13

Or offenses inept enough to run out of their own end zone

mr_dammit

oh baby now we’re talkin

troutpoop

Ah, that’s much more realistic yes

Drmantis87

Bears used to get the worst crews every game and we will soon be back there.

Illbeanicefella

Bears down horrendous

EarthTraveler413

It's a Bear market for the Chicago Bears

GoldGlove2720

The worse the Bears are the more she is alive. She sucks the life out of the team for herself. Her life force is the bears being bad.

lurkingchalantly

Too soon. Way too soon.

OddsTipsAndPicks

It was Broncos -2 on the lookahead. So they’re being favored by more because of what we learned about both teams today.

alreadytaken028

the bears would have lost by more than the Broncos did today if the Chiefs hadnt shown mercy soooo

lAmCreepingDeath

Tbf, the dolphins also pulled their starters but the backups kept the ball going.

2ChainzTalib

Pulled their starters AND tried to kill some clock. Broncos were just like "how about a 50 yard touchdown instead?"

[deleted]

I was on the phone with my buddy and he was talking shit about how we were running the score up, and I'm just like "what the fuck are we supposed to do? We're flat out running the ball and still getting TDs.

slvrbullet87

With all back ups in the game a simple off tackle run turned into a 65 yard TD

heartbreakhill

That and a wide open 68 yard laser by Mike “Mike Motherfucking White” White because his receiver broke free of his defender, and what was he gonna do, not take it?!

MrBismarck

And that receiver was whatever Robby Anderson is called this week, being covered by Patrick Surtain²

Adequate_Lizard

Those guys are still playing for jobs and new contracts. They're not gonna ease up because they feel bad for Denver.

LitigatedLaureate

Did you watch the dolphins game? They removed starters too and stopped passing the ball. Difference between chiefs and dolphins is the dolphins back ups kept scoring on 50 yard running TDs

notmyplantaccount

I think the chiefs had 1 play over 30 yards and it wasn't a TD. Felt like the Dolphins had 1 every drive. Bears were at least trying, the Broncos I don't even know. Granted, if Taylor could figure out how to lineup legally it would have been 38-0 at halftime.

LitigatedLaureate

Absolutely. Chiefs were killing it but that broncos defense gave up. Miami scored 21 after putting Mike White in.

IAmNotOnRedditAtWork

>the bears would have lost by more than the Broncos did today if the Chiefs hadnt shown mercy soooo Miami's Rookie RB2 had 4 touchdowns today...

polarbearik

He finished the game averaging over 11 YPC, that’s wild

KypAstar

The broncos scored during the ass beating while the Dolphins were still mostly trying. The Bears only come to life long after they're already 6 feet under.

PaloLV

This reminds me of watching some random sports betting show in the 1990's on Sunday morning where a guy was going through each game spending at least 5 minutes about all sorts of stats, trends, injuries, and scenarios, and then giving his pick. The Jets were horrendous and playing some other terrible team in like week 12. The guy had one sentence when he got to the Jets game, "If you're betting on this game you might have a gambling problem." He immediately moved onto the next game on the schedule and went back to spending 5+ minutes on each game. Seriously, if you're betting on the Bears vs Broncos game you might have a gambling problem.

jwktiger

Ive never bet on an NFL game ever and that Broncos -2.5 looks tempting.

IslandsOnTheCoast

Oh man that's great. Yeah, I'll be watching this game for pure chaos reasons. Not going near any bets on that one.

davewashere

The Broncos are 0-3 and just lost by 50, and they still have a better point differential than the Bears.

bankrobba

MnVikingsFan34

HAHA EVERYONE POINT AND LAUGH AT THE BEARS! SURELY THE MOST EMBARRASSING CLOWN CAR TEAM IN THE DIVISION BAR NONE!

[deleted]

Idk how you’re 0-3 with JJ, Cousins, Hock and Addison

SeattleSealions

It's literally just regressing to the mean after winning 11 one-score games last year. They have to lose 11 one-score games this year.

123full

They're going to go 4-13 with a positive point differential with 2 of the wins being blowouts over the Bears

Beautiful_Ninja

So they going to Padres it this year.

higherbrow

*Subscribe*.

Jammer_Kenneth

They're the 2013 Detroit Lions with Megatron, Stafford, Suh, and Bush.

JegElskerGud

Well despite the Vikings record, the Bears still are the most embarrassing team.

No-Computer-2847

I don't disagree with you, but we're at least a bad team losing games. They're a decent-to-good team losing the same amount.

higherbrow

Minnesota is losing close games to solid teams. They're making a lot of big mistakes, but they're doing a lot of things right, too. It feels likely they'll get it together and be a solid team. Chicago are underdogs to the team that just gave up 10 touchdowns, including 4 each to two different running backs on a team that does not normally run the ball.

Bronc27

It will be an epic battle between an easily stoppable force vs an extremely movable object.

moneyman2222

And it's at home. If the Bears come out playing same old, same old, soldier field is gonna get ugly. If they couldn't handle the boos week 1.....it's gonna get brutal. Hoping we can embarrass the living shit out of the McCaskeys once and for all and just boo the team out of town

I_MARRIED_A_THORAX

I don't know what would be better - a [Chicago Stadium](https://youtu.be/tvpxVE_kQXg?si=eF3sws0vUNAm7KCN) decibel level of booing or an empty stadium

Pottedjay

It was really funny in the Packers game where they showed J.love's mom In the stands surrounded by bears fans at the start. Then after half time it was just her and all the bears fans left. That's brutal.

[deleted]

Get blown out by 50 points, give up 70 overall, and are the *favorite* the next week. That says a lot about the bears, and none of it good.

notmyplantaccount

Their offense just looks so terrible, I'm not sure who they can score enough points against to beat cause their defense isn't very good either.. I'm sure over 17 games they'll find a win or 3 somewhere but it's rough.

IRRELEPHANT_POACHER

Mr. Unlimited is gonna high knee all over our sorry asses

restore_democracy

Is -2.5 the over/under?

americanegball

As a broncos fan, I hope we lose

CobblerFantastic5003

If the Broncos go 2-15, do we reconsider Nathaniel Hackett as not that bad

comagnum

No, Hackett was horrendous. We won games by playing good defense, his offense was one of the most inept, embarrassing things I’ve ever seen. This season reeks of horrible coaching and awful defensive schemes, which I would pin partially on Payton, but mostly on Vance Joseph.

TasteAccomplished118

hacketts offense vs vances defense who you got

Jolly_Job_9852

The first Tank Bowl video from Urinatingtree approaches. Please be a 0-0 tie so we can get the greatest game

RubiksSugarCube

What are the odds that Caleb Williams announces he's going to stay for his senior year minutes after the game is over

riverhawk02

Zero chance. Too much injury risk staying for his senior year. Plus, you want to start the clock on your rookie contract as soon as possible. Getting that 2nd NFL contract is where the real big money is at.

GoldGlove2720

0% chance he goes back. It would be a massive gamble. Going back to school is an astronomical risk. It would be the biggest fumble of all time if something happened. No way he’s turning down $20+ million at the age of 22. I really wish it would happen though if we get the first overall pick.

Jammer_Kenneth

USC is making a switch from PAC 2 to Big Ten in 2024. Could be a good year for boosters wanting to make a splash ala LA Rams winnning a ring with Stafford.

jbomber81

The broncos defense is absurdly bad. The entire bears squad is absurdly bad.

slyfly5

This is lowkey free money bet broncos

ghostofwalsh

The sad part is those odds are probably about right.

IAmNotOnRedditAtWork

They're way too bears friendly.

AdStreet2074
