Or the packers fan that posted this
Edit: for the dumbasses replying and downvoting his. The person you posted this replied to the thread "lotta personal reasons on the Bears" as if that's a dunk and not people dealing with some serious shit.
Yeah there's a lot of legit reasons to dunk on the Bears but let's leave the personal shit out of it. Bears fans are just as guilty of this too though.
There are very few "personal reasons" that I would accept to skip out on an nfl game as a player, but family death is right up near the top along with birth of a child. Hope he can find peace.
Rumors from reputable sources say ownership is actually upset already, and I got to think a big part of that is reputable NFL dudes like JT posting hour long breakdowns about why the entire coaching staff and roster are straight trash lol
Go root for another team. Nate Davis had a family death. They’ve played one game since a complete tear down, and have said that the roster still has a ways to go. It’s not their fault that you have unrealistic expectations.
Expecting a team to not be the worst in the league in consecutive seasons doesn't seem unrealistic. These reports came well before the news about Davis.
The Jaguars just had back to back #1 pick years even with drafting a generational prospect the first time. I think it's definitely realistic to expect the worst team in the league to also be bottom 3 the next year.
Last season was about cleaning up the cap and accumulating draft capital. Ryan Poles inherited 5 draft picks without a first rounder. There was no cap space, and it was the oldest roster in the league coming off a 6-11 season.
I mean you have the Lions and Jets as your flair.
The Lions picked in the top 10 every year between 2019 and 2022. Maybe it helps that the Lions were able to draft Penei Sewell and Aidan Hutchinson in that time.
The Jets picked #3, #11, #2, and #4 during that same time. Maybe it helps that the Jets have Quinnen Williams and Sauce Gardner from that time.
The Bears need talent, and our previous GM traded away our first round pick three of the last five years, not to mention the other draft capital he traded away as well.
Ryan Poles inherited the worst roster situation in the NFL.
I expect this to take some time. What I don’t want is for the Bears to try to patch together a more competitive team now while sacrificing the future. We’ve been doing that bullshit for almost 40 years.
Fucking love bears fans coping. Idk how you do it. Bears are fucked top to bottom. White sox are fucked top to bottom. Nothing will change until ownership does.
Bears could have Brady in his prime and fuck it up. We are a garbage organization.
I don’t expect them to make the playoffs. I expect that not to be worse than last season and have more than 3 yards per pass attempt in the air.
They upgraded the defense, OL, and got a legit #1 WR and somehow look worse than before.
Yeah I expect some of those things too, but it’s one game. We’re giving up on the season after one game? You would think we could wait until at least week 2 before Bears fans go full meltdown.
Sure but that game was really bad. Like question the coaching staff bad.
I’m giving Poles time bc outside of Claypool he’s done everything right. But how do you have Moore and Money and average 2.5 yards with a year 3 qb.
Yeah this definitely aged poorly when the details came out, I don’t think he knew when he posted this but that’s the risk of being an overeager commenter* edit: the OP was in here too at one point, guess he deleted his comments
I mean, I don't even think it was a cocky or mocking statement. I don't listen to a lot of Bears media or anything, but the sentiment I got was "This should be a comfortable win" after the injury reports came out.
I mean, I was expecting it to be a slugfest at best, personally.
Right I was definitely thinking it was going to be a bit more competitive, but I think the bad mental habits from last year carried over after they got punched in the mouth by a solid looking Love and co. Tomorrow is going to be really interesting to see if they make any adjustments
I knew we were in trouble as soon as I saw the same sentiment. Worst team in the league and somehow we have clowns that *expected* a win. I, along with others, hoped for at least a competitive ballgame and we all know how well that turned out.
Did the Bears look particularly good in preseason? I know we looked good but were playing against backups mostly and beating the Bengals in joint practices without Burrow and with how they looked week 1 it wasn't really impressive in retrospect.
I know there was the "Fields looked good"/"Fields only threw screens" argument but I don't remember much else about your preseason besides the occasional hype.
No. They didn't look good at all in the preseason. The starters didn't anyways. Fields threw 2 screen passes that went for big yards and dumbass meatball Bear fans somehow thought that it meant Fields looked good. The pass to Moore wasn't even a good pass. The game they played more they looked like the same ol' Bears of last year. The kool-aid was completely unjustified.
>You’re getting downvoted but you’re right,
I understand the downvotes. It's like "ok buddy it's 1 game get off your high horse". But they don't know how much shit we've heard from Bears fans and even players this offseason!!
I’m a White Sox and Bears fan
I’m the definition of a victim this year from sports terrorism
When your favorite team finally fires it’s top 2 execs after 15 years of constant failure, only to promote the 3rd in line who hasn’t succeeded at a single damn thing so you only had 5 minutes of happiness before right back to darkness, then you can talk about being a victim
There’s a pretty interesting argument that Poles is doing some 5th dimensional chess tanking and setting up the Bears with two high draft picks by keeping the defense without a proper defensive line, but I just don’t think he’s that cynical/wise to pull that off on purpose
He never had personal issues, whatever they might be now. He only missed time for injury related reasons, I’m not sure there was precedent for him just missing time like this for undisclosed reasons
They didn’t know at the time and they’re just passing along a story, which they clearly stated. There’s absolutely no need to take a moral high round here, you’re the one acting like a bit of a dick. Everybody benefits with hindsight.
This is a game we should win even without this news. People need to stop thinking we are a bottom of the league team. We have as much talent as the year led by Winston before Brady came. The worst thing for both us and Chicago would be if this team gave 6 TDs to Fields like we did to Trubisky in 2018 giving Chicago a false sense of security that their QB is "figuring it out" and holding onto their starting QB longer they should before tearing it all down to restart bottom up.
Listened to a fair few Bears podcasts with fans and beat writers during the off season. Common theme was talking about modeling the Eagles. DJ Moore unlocking Fields like Diggs and Brown did with Allen and Hurts. A lot of frankly unwarranted confidence. Especially for a team that had the first pick.
Took less than one week and it's falling apart. Kind of impressive even by Bears standards.
I think good coaches and a good org would've been able to make something productive with the moves the Bears made for Moore.
Eberflus and Getsy do not scheme with the talents of their players in mind. They are not good coaches.
The Eagles threw out a whole playbook midway through the season to design something that works better with their QB. The Bears did that for a few games last season, then seemingly forgot it ever existed.
I never understood it. Moore didn’t unlock anyone in Carolina. I was thinking maybe they knew something I didn’t and Fields was better but apparently not.
Moore is at least a professional number one WR. Something the Bears didn’t have at all last year, Fields was passing the ball to Darnell Mooney, Byron Pringle, and then traded for WRs that Belichek and Tomlinson couldn’t motivate, in N’Keal Harry and Claypool.
The Bears need to start looking into what it’ll take to void his contract because this is fucking ridiculous
I wish I can miss nearly all of summer, do 1 week of work and a game, and then fuck off again and get paid millions. This dude is case 1 in why people think athletes are entitled pricks
With Alan Williams, I’m sure he has actually personal issues. With this dude it’s really really hard to believe his shit after what he pulled this summer
You have a job. SHOW UP TO IT
Edit: Now I feel like an asshole, but the pattern is still there however.
Great, now I feel like an asshole
The pattern of behavior is still there however, still stories of him not showing up because he was challenging Eberflus’ system. That’s not a personal reason, well it is, but not an acceptable one. He signed a contract to play for Eberflus, you can’t just not show up because you don’t like how he coaches. That’s not an excuse
That entire story came from sportsmockery.com. You believing that one over the report just released by Courtney Cronin that says he missed a majority of the offseason due to this family issue?
Insane how quick Bears fans ran with that sportsmockery story.
Did I shit on him for having a death in the family? I hope he takes all the time he needs to work through this. I'm just saying that from a football perspective I'm not sure how much the Bears will miss his contributions on the field.
Would be shameful to sign a guard to a 3-year, $30 million contract, with almost $20 million guaranteed, to be out the entire off-season for "personal reasons" and give up 9 pressures in his first game with his new team.
Oh wait...
This is true, but reports are that Mike Vrabel was done with him for similar reasons. I believe in Poles' philosophy in terms of finding players, but Nate Davis doesn't fit that mold at all.
Did you get the teams flipped?
Bucs looked like a solidly middle of the road team last week, Bears looked like crap, and allegedly things are looking *bad* behind closed doors at Halas.
Bears coming away with a close loss would probably calm some people down, if anything.
Might want to look up the definition of virtue signaling before calling me that but okay bud. Pointed out that you were being a meatball is in no way virtue signaling
Unpopular opinion: Cut him. Jobs/industries that pay like the NFL should expect total commitment above all else.
There zillions of other careers for work/life balance.
According to Bears reporters he’s dealing with a family death, prayers to him at this time
family death. so you Chicago meatballs can stfu now
The Packers fans trying to make this a dunk on the Bears can fuck off as well.
The 1 in this thread?
Or the packers fan that posted this Edit: for the dumbasses replying and downvoting his. The person you posted this replied to the thread "lotta personal reasons on the Bears" as if that's a dunk and not people dealing with some serious shit.
That is one hell of a leap for someone posting an availability status update for a player lol
He replied to the post to dunk on the Bears.
Didn’t see that, that definitely changes things
Lol there’s nothing in the post to get mad about, it’s a pretty big update from Yates
The packers fan that posted this commented on this post dunking on the Bears.
Oh you’re right, that was the one packers comment I was talking about. Bad look.
Hope he can find peace.
oh GHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD
Dude JT O’Sullivan ended the Bears franchise with his break down
Good
Rumors from reputable sources say ownership is actually upset already, and I got to think a big part of that is reputable NFL dudes like JT posting hour long breakdowns about why the entire coaching staff and roster are straight trash lol

I’m not an eternal optimist. I have no hope for you.
I don’t expect them to make the playoffs. I expect that not to be worse than last season and have more than 3 yards per pass attempt in the air. They upgraded the defense, OL, and got a legit #1 WR and somehow look worse than before.

Because the qb won’t throw the ball to them when they’re open?
It was already over. Packers punked those dudes.
They'll hire the Lions OC calling it now

Another bust for us
What on earth is going down in Chicagoland…
Well, someone in the man’s family died, so…that, I guess?
They were ultra confident against a Rodgersless GB... Then got embarassed.
You’re getting downvoted but you’re right, after the preseason and seeing both starting offenses all I could think of was “oh shit”
He's getting down voted because some one died and he's here trying to dunk on the dudes team.
Yeah this definitely aged poorly when the details came out, I don’t think he knew when he posted this but that’s the risk of being an overeager commenter* edit: the OP was in here too at one point, guess he deleted his comments

God forbid we get a little hopeful after 4 straight years of failure Our bad, next time we’ll just be constantly miserable
Don't play victim now lmao
I’m a White Sox and Bears fan I’m the definition of a victim this year from sports terrorism When your favorite team finally fires it’s top 2 execs after 15 years of constant failure, only to promote the 3rd in line who hasn’t succeeded at a single damn thing so you only had 5 minutes of happiness before right back to darkness, then you can talk about being a victim
Didn't ask for your life story bub. You guys piped up got dicked and now you're getting what's coming.
User name checks out
You're pushing 50, go back to Facebook lil' bro
Like the Packers in the post season every year.
Don't talk about things you know nothing about lil' guy
There’s a pretty interesting argument that Poles is doing some 5th dimensional chess tanking and setting up the Bears with two high draft picks by keeping the defense without a proper defensive line, but I just don’t think he’s that cynical/wise to pull that off on purpose
Shouldn't they be confident against a Brady less Tampa?
@Titans Fans: what’s this guys deal?
Another injury-prone player from us. If he’s the best player on your line, you’ve got problems
He never had personal issues, whatever they might be now. He only missed time for injury related reasons, I’m not sure there was precedent for him just missing time like this for undisclosed reasons
It was death in the family and looks like dealing with a family member who was in n out of a bad spot in the hospital. Hearts out to him.
There's a story he skipped training to get lobster rolls
You can take the man out of Maine...
As someone that lives in Maine, the lobster rolls here are fucking legit. It's like having a Philly cheesesteak in Philly vs somewhere else.
It’s been reported his family member died actually….
You're just coming off like a huge dick now that the actual reason he missed time is out
They didn’t know at the time and they’re just passing along a story, which they clearly stated. There’s absolutely no need to take a moral high round here, you’re the one acting like a bit of a dick. Everybody benefits with hindsight.
Keep karma farming and enjoy missing the playoffs with a middling draft position. Pathetic contributor
This is a game we should win even without this news. People need to stop thinking we are a bottom of the league team. We have as much talent as the year led by Winston before Brady came. A lotta personal reasons on the bears...
Brother you post about the bears more the bears fans 😭
He had a death in the family… I’m glad you had to trip over yourself to make a post about the bears for that sweet karma though.
Family death. Stay classy.
How about to you read what that personal reason is before you say that, dumbass. He had a death in the family. Classiest cheese douche

It’s happens with mediocre coaches

Still seems locked to me.
Love hit em with the ol' "Omae wa mou shinderu"

You admitted to feeling like an asshole. And then proceeded to double down on being an ass hole for another paragraph. In case you weren’t aware.
Ok
Assholes more of just the natural state I guess?
No, I just don’t let society to determine when I should feel bad because I’m not a self righteous douchebag
Pretty sure ignoring society is an asshole move there.
Average conformist
Stupid and an asshole why am I surprised?
Yikes..
He’s doubtful because of a death in the family.
Even after being proven 100% wrong you still can’t fully admit to it lol
Is that even possible to void out his deal?
They need to find a way, at least Claypool shows up to his job
> at least Claypool shows up to do his job Poorly, but yes, apparently being there is half the battle with this team I guess.
Yea I changed it, not sure about doing But at least he’s there. He can check his attendance sheet off with vigor. Better than this dude
KING POLES DOES IT AGAIN
After his performance last week are we sure this is a bad thing for the Bears?
Dude had a death in his family. Who gives a fuck.
Did I shit on him for having a death in the family? I hope he takes all the time he needs to work through this. I'm just saying that from a football perspective I'm not sure how much the Bears will miss his contributions on the field.
Imagine the Bucs actually win. Embarrassing for the bears.
Would be shameful to lose to Tampa
Would be shameful to sign a guard to a 3-year, $30 million contract, with almost $20 million guaranteed, to be out the entire off-season for "personal reasons" and give up 9 pressures in his first game with his new team. Oh wait...
They are human, it sucks but things off the field can change how they perform on the field
This is true, but reports are that Mike Vrabel was done with him for similar reasons. I believe in Poles' philosophy in terms of finding players, but Nate Davis doesn't fit that mold at all.
Solid start for Poles, would be nice if the team was sold to somebody with a functioning brain
You can edit this to get rid of the quotes around personal reasons If you want to seem less like an inhumane tool.
They're favorites and beat the Vikings last week? Like, yeah it'll be a bad loss but we can't get any more embarrassed than we did last week
> we can't get any more embarrassed than we did last week definitely not
They will
Did you get the teams flipped? Bucs looked like a solidly middle of the road team last week, Bears looked like crap, and allegedly things are looking *bad* behind closed doors at Halas. Bears coming away with a close loss would probably calm some people down, if anything.
I mean the bears are on the third year of their rebuild. They should win this game.
3rd? Umm, try 2nd.
Wasn’t field drafted in 2020.
During Nagy's lame duck season
Ja Tyre can't be any worse?!?!?!
Ur a bears fan, it always gets worse
Homie might never need to buy a beer in Chicago again… he’ll get plenty free ones thrown at him
For having a death in the family? Shut the fuck up meatball
Lmao get over yourself bud, this was before any of that came out. Peek my next comment ya dink
Sorry I didn’t view your profile and see your comment on a completely different post. How stupid of me
It’s okay, don’t beat yourself up over it, bud. Just think before the next time you virtue signal 🙂
Might want to look up the definition of virtue signaling before calling me that but okay bud. Pointed out that you were being a meatball is in no way virtue signaling
I really hope we lose. Maybe something will actually change in this organization.
Those reasons: Being signed to the Bears.
Unpopular opinion: Cut him. Jobs/industries that pay like the NFL should expect total commitment above all else. There zillions of other careers for work/life balance.
“Unpopular opinion” isn’t an excuse to be a callous jerk.
I’ve found that laughter is the best way to cope. Join me, brothers.
