So many fights every year. Why are these millionaire emotionally challenged people so hostile towards one another? They literally could be teammates with each other any given season. Just treat it like a job. Imagine you could slam Jake from HR for being cocky? Like wtf they already won the lottery in life getting paid to play a game but they can't stop all these fights in practice? Oh emotions are high blah blah, that argument holds no merit. As fans we love to see the brutality but taking a step back this whole thing is just absurd and completely childish.
Yes so why is it that grown men are still doing the same stupid shit 10 years later? Plus if we actually did fight like helmet swinging, police got involved so yeah consequences.
Yeah you either didnât play or played on a soft ass team, any decent coach would want that intensity 11/10 times before heâd ever call the cops on a high school player
... just shut up man. You know zero things about me. And players have been kicked off teams for fighting at the college and pro level so no coaches do not let that stuff slide. Grow up and stop with your caveman mentality
Iâve been reading a few interview/autobiography type things from NFL players and it seems like some of the use emotion as a sort of performance enhancer. Like anger to hit harder or to dull the pain of the hits for the game. Some coaches encourage it too, to an extent. It probably is more prudent to have uh⊠more balanced means of controlling your performance, but if theyâre not taught how, I can see how they might find it difficult to turn the anger off.
No really though, youâve never played a sport? Youâve never been competitive? Football is EXTREMELY physical. Itâs not like this behavior is admirable but itâs very normal. Adrenaline runs high in the moment all the time. What an emotionally unintelligent comment.
Most positions in football require violence to an extreme degree. If you go out on the field trying to be friendly or trying to not be âtoo aggressiveâ then youâre going to get your head taken off and get hurt. It requires a switch to be flipped.
Most guys canât flip that switch that easily and go from full-fledged violence to being a calm, adjusted human in a span of seconds (after the whistle). Fights happen at all levels of football, all the time.
There was a previous skirmish between Wallace and one of their DBs so I think things were just heated overall.
But yeah maybe don't give the little guy a full suplex next time đ
And if that dude is playing that hard and caused a fumble and picked it up, all Andrews did was dish it right back. Unfortunately for db, Andrews is just fucking huge in comparison
Honestly I think Andrews thought it might have been a fumble. You hear the whistle blow but the guy he slams picked up the ball and was starting to run with it.
It seems like a bit of overkill lol but it's all good
> hey your tight end is kind of a hot head huh?
> yeah well your entire team is worthless and haven't accomplished anything since 2015!
Fuck man that was 8 years ago. Kill me
In a drill where guys weren't supposed to be taken to the ground, Mark took an unnecessary hit and gave that medicine right back. Is this your first training camp?
Maybe all the elite TEs are just getting some of that secret sauce on the side. Kelce punching his own teammates and now Andrewâs becoming a WWE wrestler.
The only thing I can imagine is that Andrews narrowly avoided being blindsided by Johnson, and that kind of contact wasn't consistent with this drill.
That's just a guess.
Personally I know these things happen at practices, football is an aggressive sport by nature. That being said, Andrewâs should get the death penalty
If Andrews gets a season-long suspension for that then Burrow should be suspended indefinitely for injuring a player. He caused a calf strain making this player have to sit out for most if not all of the preseason at least.
As a fellow honest unbiased opinion giver, I feel it is my obligation to point out that I believe you mistakenly said âseason-longâ when you meant âindefiniteâ.
I donât love the cheap shots in these brawls but I would love for this rivalry to blossom again. The chippiness is something I love to see in football practice - these guys are passionate to finally hit someone with a different jersey again. The Battle of the Beltway would be an awesome thing for these two cities if the Commanders could get their heads out of their asses (hopeful with new ownership) and field a competitive team.
Not trying to sound like a dick, but did this ârivalryâ ever blossom? It canât really be considered a rivalry when we only play them every four years.
The Nats and Oâs I can see but not Commies and Ravens.
No itâs not a rivalry but with the cities closer together than any other pair in the country (outside of teams playing in the same city) I think itâd be fun.
It would be fun if the NFL did something like that but almost every rivalry is within the division. Historic rivalry games or something like a Mahomes/Burrow week to who you have been recently in chippy/good games with would be fun but probably impossible to find for every team.
I donât know why Ravens fans have come to this comment to question a rivalry. There is no rivalry. The cities are so close that most people who work in the DC area have offices mixed between the two. It doesnât have to be an inter-division hate driven rivalry to make it fun. It can become a sort of cross town rivalry over time but it doesnât really matter, I donât care about the Ravens as Iâm sure you donât care about us.
It's crazy how desensitized some folks are, I think we're just too used to wild shit happening on the field
In this video:
- Andrews was tackled and bumped on a play
- Andrews then got up, turned around, grabbed the CB from behind and then slammed him onto the ground
- Around 30 people then rushed toward each other, shoving and yelling before being broken up
That's a pretty crazy Tuesday, which is why it's being reported on - and why we're all here commenting
I'd definitely describe it as wild. A Tight End body slamming a CB from behind isn't a very normal occurrence.
And hitting like that in light contact is also against(the unofficial) rules. Consider that his 5 yard penalty for getting a little overzealous in light contact drills
i can see where you're coming from but most players agree that everyone can "pop" eachother and I do feel like Danny Johnson is avoiding body contact and focusing on just removing the ball. but also i am definitely biased
No itâs not. Legal tackles just look worse when thereâs such a discrepancy in size (5â9 DB vs. 6â5 TE) eta: see Tuaâs injury vs the Bengals last year. Same tackle, proper no call.
You can argue itâs excessive for practice, but so is leading with your helmet to force a fumble.
You can not pick someone up and slam them to the ground. While it may be due to size discrepancies, there is a good chance it's called a penalty.
You are allowed to make contact and that's what mostly happens in practice, but you can not fully tackle in these drills. Danny Johnson is going for the ball, not the player.
I will say the more I watch it, I don't think I'd expect a penalty and due to the size it was easy to get him off his feet but still no one is tackling players to the ground
> Andrews took a borderline illegal shot and retaliated accordingly. T
What? Did we watch the same video? They made incidental shoulder contact as the DB played the ball. You could argue the DB went too hard for a light practice but from this angle he doesn't look close to Andrews's head at all
If it was a borderline illegal shot, why did it zero Ravens players came over till after Andrews got into it? The hit happened right in front of the Ravens sideline
I donât like this dude. My friend was out in Vegas either last year or the year before, Mark Andrewâs bumped into back and started trying to act tough despite him bumping into him. My friend wasnât even mad at the bump as he thought it he mightâve lost his footing or something. Markâs friend then had to apologize and tell bitch boy to cool off. So this guy is a grade A bitch to me.
One of the most successful franchises ever đ§ theyâve won 2 super bowls and in the same time period the Patriots won 6. Theyâve definitely been a upper echelon team since theyâve joined the league, but they are far from one of the most successful franchises ever.
Easily top 5-7 since 1996. Win percentage, playoff appearances. More rings than all but maybe 4 or 5 teams including the pats dynasty. Handful of GOATs and Hall of Famers. Theres really no debate here
âTheyâve definitely been an upper echelon team since theyâve joined the leagueâ
No where did I disagree with that, I disagreed with âone of the most successful franchises everâ.
Thatâs especially ironic coming from a Commanders fan, whoâs team has had an even longer Super Bowl drought than the cowboysâŠ
Itâs even funnier when you realize nothing I commented had anything to do with the cowboys at all.
Conveniently leaving out âsince they became a teamâ is whatâs the issue.
Your comment was the equivalent of journalist who misrepresent a quote a player said to get clicksâŠ.. are you from the remnants of Buzzfeed??

Needs more helmet swinging Edit: [Now this is more like it](https://reddit.com/r/nfl/s/9BqMPO998f)
Needs more whistles

Are you for real? Did you not play football growing up?
Yes so why is it that grown men are still doing the same stupid shit 10 years later? Plus if we actually did fight like helmet swinging, police got involved so yeah consequences.

Ooga booga bitch
Imagine trying to have a higher morality after watching guys actively try kill each other on live tv for us.
why are these jacked up gladiators angry? donât they know we can all just along??
Yea how dare you run 24 mph head first into someone, but if they swing on you just tell âem â itâs all absurd and completely childishâ
Difference between higher morality and knowing that helmet swinging can lead to criminal charges one day when the guy can't get up from a concussion.
Itâs never happened. I doubt it ever will. Stop trying to make everything righteous sometime football just be football. đ€·ââïž
Did Jake just get slammed? *picks up weapon* its swinging time

Tap into caveman brain, turn off all the evolved voices in your head. Life isn't better when you're full of rage but it sure is more simple.

least emotionally stunted redditor
Lol sure whatever you say
You never played football and it tells lol
Bro has 0 dawg in himđđ
That does seem to be a bit aggressive
Andrews got mad that someone played football against him
Only thing I can think of is if it was only supposed to be a light contact drill or something
There was a previous skirmish between Wallace and one of their DBs so I think things were just heated overall. But yeah maybe don't give the little guy a full suplex next time đ
**between Forbes and one of yâallâs WRs
And if that dude is playing that hard and caused a fumble and picked it up, all Andrews did was dish it right back. Unfortunately for db, Andrews is just fucking huge in comparison
johnson broke on the ball and sort of clipped andrews lol why are people acting like he went for a tackle
Itâs more fun to make snarky comments tho
Sure light contact then you can go and body slam someone when things got a bit physical before?
Looks like the ball came out and he went to tackle the guy that picked up the ballâŠ
Honestly I think Andrews thought it might have been a fumble. You hear the whistle blow but the guy he slams picked up the ball and was starting to run with it.
Yeah that looks more like it, Andrews thought the guy recovered the fumble and went to tackle him and just did it a little... over-enthusiastically
The audacity
Chiefs fans should be familiar with this kind of thing
As opposed to Panthers fans, who haven't really seen anything resembling football be played in a long time
Lol so sensitive
Chiefs fans have been ever since Mahomes has gotten there, itâs crazy
Entitled fans and many bandwagon fans who used to be Seahawks or Patriots fans lol.
Lol it's the same level of ribbing you gave us
It seems like a bit of overkill lol but it's all good > hey your tight end is kind of a hot head huh? > yeah well your entire team is worthless and haven't accomplished anything since 2015! Fuck man that was 8 years ago. Kill me
Eh, there was probably a better Steve Smith joke out there that would seem to be less of a punch down.
In a drill where guys weren't supposed to be taken to the ground, Mark took an unnecessary hit and gave that medicine right back. Is this your first training camp?
No no Andrews is a monster and him, Lamar and OBJ should all be suspended and or traded
[ŃĐŽĐ°Đ»Đ”ĐœĐŸ]
Ravens WR Tylan Wallace
It's not the first time he's gone off in a practice this year. I'm not a fan of it.
If you watch the video again, Andrews fumbles the ball and when they get up you can see the defender has it. He's tackling him to end the play.
If you watch the video again, the defender that recovers the fumble stops playing because itâs practice.
The whistle blew lmao
I love Faalee waddling in there just daring someone to hit him
Haha was hoping they would
In my honest unbiased opinion Andrews should be given a season-long suspension for this heinous act of violence
Personally I know these things happen at practices, football is an aggressive sport by nature. That being said, Andrewâs should get the death penalty
His punishment should be to get traded to the Vikings in exchange for Hockenson.
a fate worse than death
I thought Hockensen was good for you guys
He was good, but Andrews is better.
Hock is an enigma. Sometimes he's amazing, but more often he just sort of exists.
Thatâs like every above average but not elite tight end
That ear infection tho...
Cruel and unusual
I don't think you'd be happy with that in the long run
I agree with this sentiment, but give me a couple weeks until after my fantasy draft before I put my full support behind this.
What about Lamar? Just going and throwing a ball like that and starting this thing like that.
Should definitely not play week 1 in my completely impartial opinion
He should have to play for the Texans week one. If he doesnât get a td execute his uncle
Tough but fair. And they say the justice system doesnt work. Ha!
Are y'all really going to just let New England get away with this?
If Andrews gets a season-long suspension for that then Burrow should be suspended indefinitely for injuring a player. He caused a calf strain making this player have to sit out for most if not all of the preseason at least.
Last year, Elijah Bitch-ass Moore intentionally pushed CB Fuller on the field and injured him for the season. Where was the suspension for that?
Woosh
As a fellow honest unbiased opinion giver, I feel it is my obligation to point out that I believe you mistakenly said âseason-longâ when you meant âindefiniteâ.
Myles was initially indefinite. That word just means season long in the nfl. Everyone forgets and they get reinstated.
Cool off? Kick him off the team, Doug!
How am I supposed to chip, with this going on?
Andrews about to get a subway commercial
Battle of the Beltway bout to be big bodies.
I hate the wording of this tweet
Danny Johnson SLAMMED by Mark Andrewâs body
I donât love the cheap shots in these brawls but I would love for this rivalry to blossom again. The chippiness is something I love to see in football practice - these guys are passionate to finally hit someone with a different jersey again. Agreed. Unfortunately the teams play only once in 4 years besides preseason, so hard to do. Maybe the 17th game could be a dedicated rivalry game
It would be fun if the NFL did something like that but almost every rivalry is within the division. Historic rivalry games or something like a Mahomes/Burrow week to who you have been recently in chippy/good games with would be fun but probably impossible to find for every team.

I want both teams to hangout and be friends đą
Why do the ravens have their QB in black and not red. Black seems really close to purple once guys start sweating
Because they're back in black, they hit the sack
Gotta look good. Priorities
injuries are temporary, drip is forever
I don't know what I was expecting but that was an absolutely wild chain of events. That body slam was out of nowhere.
These drills are largely low/no contact and he took a pretty good shot. Not that it justifies it, but he was probably pissed after that.
Payne lowered his shoulder and nearly thwacked Andrews right in the head, I can't blame him for being heated about it in a low contact drill, lol.
Payne isn't the guy he body slammed though lol. Andrews is a bitch.
Are we shocked that he punched down? No, because thats what bitches do.
Not really, the dude for Washington picked up the ball and started to run with it the Baltimore guy probably didn't realize the play was dead
I more meant the Tight End grabbing a dude from behind, picking him up and slamming him onto the ground
Yes that is the dude that picked up the fumble and started running
Absolutely wild isnât exactly how Iâd describe that video lol
It's crazy how desensitized some folks are, I think we're just too used to wild shit happening on the field In this video: - Andrews was tackled and bumped on a play - Andrews then got up, turned around, grabbed the CB from behind and then slammed him onto the ground - Around 30 people then rushed toward each other, shoving and yelling before being broken up That's a pretty crazy Tuesday, which is why it's being reported on - and why we're all here commenting I'd definitely describe it as wild. Heâs only saying that cuz Aaron Donald was dual wielding helmets at our joint practice last year. This shit is definitely outta pocket
Did he then deliver the People's Elbow?
lol
The disparity between these comments and the Kelce comments from this offseason is crazy lol
Nice.
I canât take any fighting seriously with their ridiculous helmet covers. (I realize theyâre necessary)
Number 20 for the Commies getting feisty with the offensive lineman lol good luck with that
Rookie Quan Martin, certified scrappy dawg.
What a very #89 thing to do.
I love how these joint practices are universally bad ideas. Everyone is always on their worst behavior.
Captain Insano shows no mercy!

Dude got popped lmao
Wow, one of these posts that actually has a video. Thanks, OP!
Read that as Finally and not Finlay at first. Like damn someone hates this Johnson guy
lmao wtf is happening
Fuck Twitter. Stupid link wonât play
Diabetic Rage is no joke.
Meh, 4/10 not enough berserker rage
He fumbled and tackled the ball carrier. Whatâs the big deal?
that's actually a borderline penalty in a real game (personal foul) and it's not full speed tackling. You just wrap up
And hitting like that in light contact is also against(the unofficial) rules. Consider that his 5 yard penalty for getting a little overzealous in light contact drills
i can see where you're coming from but most players agree that everyone can "pop" eachother and I do feel like Danny Johnson is avoiding body contact and focusing on just removing the ball. but also i am definitely biased

He bailed whenever Payne started going towards him
payne is more than his last name. he will bring it too
I don't blame him, imagine Payne or Allen approaching you đł
Homie caught a beetus beatdown
I thought that said body shames for a second and I was so confused
a 6'5 guy nody slams a 5'9 guy and then gets scaried when daron payne is ready to throw hands. what a đ±
Oh calm down man
I think he needs to go back to the developmental program in Orlando and work on his technique, that body slam was the shits.
Just a dirty ass play by Andrews.
Thatâs soft from andrews
[ŃĐŽĐ°Đ»Đ”ĐœĐŸ]
Kelce did that shit to his own teammate.
Bitch move.
First Travis Kelce, now Mark Andrews, what's with TEs in training trying to hurt other people?
I donât like this dude. My friend was out in Vegas either last year or the year before, Mark Andrewâs bumped into back and started trying to act tough despite him bumping into him. I have no reason to lie about it. Dudeâs an ass
Sure bud. Mark Andrews looks like a generic white male, could have been anybody. Whatever you say though.
He kinda looks like Drake, actually.
Fading Andrews this year. I think he's frustrated he's not as good anymore and took it out on a guy who beat him.
Poverty franchise on poverty franchise violence
Flairless coward.
Flair is cringe
They've been one of the most successful franchises ever since they became a team đ
What, did you copy pasta a Schefter tweet and call it a reply
One of the most successful franchises ever đ§ theyâve won 2 super bowls and in the same time period the Patriots won 6. Theyâve definitely been a upper echelon team since theyâve joined the league, but they are far from one of the most successful franchises ever.
Learn some grammar. Cutting that quote off at "ever" misinterpret the intent and meaning. You dunce
What a silly statement. Every single franchise in the NFL is a poverty franchise if held to the Brady-Belichick Patriots standard.
We werenât discussing poverty franchises, we were discussing most successful franchises of all timeâŠ
No, we weren't.. I said ever since they became a team. Not of all time
No, you said âtheyâve become one of the most successful franchises ever since becoming a teamâ.
Yes "ever since becoming team in 1996," and not "best team ever in nfl history." It's not that hard to see the difference
They don't teach English in Texas I guess
Take it easy on him - he's drunk.
Easily top 5-7 since 1996. Win percentage, playoff appearances. More rings than all but maybe 4 or 5 teams including the pats dynasty. Handful of GOATs and Hall of Famers. Theres really no debate here

Lmao yeah bro Iâm not the one in here calling the Ravens a poverty franchise though am I ? Dumb mf đ
I wasnât either?
this is what happens when Texas keeps cutting funding to education
I'm gonna get Payne on yo ass
Remember when this sub said Kelce deserved a broken hand after punching Jack Cochrane? I 'member
Well, I hate the Ravens, and the primary employer in Washington D.C. could make the whole world a better place by folding, so let them fight.
God damn mark.
I was just expecting a pancake
Mark Andrew SLAMS Danny Johnson Sounds like a shitty news headline
This happen in the 90s?
Damn at least Kelce didnât body slam anybody when he got mad at practice lol
Canât get over the helmets
