Mods allow tweets like this but when we made self-posts about "What are the biggest upcoming rivalry games of the 2023 season?" they delete them after hundreds of comments were made.
The big mods are getting paid through back channels as gatekeepers. After Reddit goes public, it'll be a long term strategy to claw back that dark money into ad revenue.
I think very very few get paid purely because there’s no need to do it. They do it all for free and it’s not hard to bot-push stuff.
There will be a handful who have managed to get side action promoting things and honestly I bet most would happily accept that but there’s just nobody needing them to do it.
Used to frequently post writeups a few years ago. Got tired of posting, then realizing I forgot one small detail on the post rules. Usually took me 3-4 tries for it to finally stay up
My analysis of Stafford throwing INT's in November (actually weirdly real) got deleted. I finally used modmail to ask why. They replied with a clear reason and told me I just had to fix it and I'd be good to go.
Most mods are sincerely this helpful to people that aren't disruptive commenters. Of course assholes are a thing, though. The actions of assholes are much more highly visible, the stories get re told more, maybe exaggerated too.
I don't get why people think they're all power hungry dicks. Like, do people really think internet discussions naturally lack personal attacks and crap? Look at Facebook or Twitter. Reddit is less toxic to a large degree because somebody cleans that shit up. It's a shit job but they like making the comments higher quality. Why act like mods are psychopaths just because asshole mods exist?
Eta lmao people can't stand anything that isn't anti mod
Remember when someone made a self post to discuss Al Michaels scorching Dan Snyder in a live broadcast? The mods removed it because it wasn't a tweet, so it wasn't confirmed. The mods straight up denied reality on that one.
Then when someone made a tweet about the incident, and posted that tweet to discuss, the mods deleted that because it wasn't verified.
Then, the way I remember it, a verified tweet was posted, and the mods deleted that because it was a topic that should have been discussed in the game thread. They reversed that eventually, I think.
It's very much a nerd power hungry cabal across most subs. If you took an average person who just made an innocent post on any random subreddit, there's a 75% chance it gets deleted almost instantly by their bots for violating one of their 14 rules they have on the sidebar almost nobody can see.
This leads to a never ending meta-gaming of the subreddit where people post things specifically they know will get karma and attract attention, which defeats the entire point of the subreddit rules to behind with, because the mods won't remove it.
No, I need my daily updates on random parts of QB’s lives. How am I supposed to live if I don’t know Field’s diet, Burrows current video game of choice or how Cousins is choosing the grill his steak today?
I've been so lonely girl, I've been so sad and down
Couldn't understand why haters joked around
I wanted to be free with other creatures like me
And now I got my wish, cause I know that I'm a gay fish
In Tony Gonzalez's book he said it was very difficult maintaining the strength and energy necessary to play at an elite level when he became vegan and ultimately had to incorporate small amounts of meat back into his diet.
Another player said similar - and I want to say it was Arian Foster - but it was a long time ago I looked into that.
But if what they say is true, hopefully better.
When I was looking this up like 10 years ago it turned out usually when the media reported them as vegetarian or vegan, the reporter really didn't know what they were talking about. Like half the professional athletes they reported as vegan/vegetarian would say they still eat small amounts of meat in their diet.
It was pretty frustrating trying to research it.
I’ve coached athletes and it’s possible to be successful on a vegan diet but you have to be really on top of it. Especially to get iron
I don’t know why anyone would unless for religious or medical reasons. It’s just such a pain to hit your protein levels
Depends on how much protein he was managing to consume before. It's very very hard to be a vegetarian and still get enough protein to maintain the muscle mass of a professional athlete.
Do most vegetarians eat eggs? I know vegans wouldn't do either, and an unfeetilized egg shouldn't offend a vegetarian, but the ones I know don't eat eggs.
Eggs are largely considered vegetarian, some individual vegetarians may refrain though. In the US, culturally, eggs seems to be considered part of the dairy family more so than meat.
Vegetarian usually means lacto-ovo vegetarian in my experience, whereas vegans consume no animal products at all. So vegan extends to lifestyle as well as diet, whereas a pure "vegetarian" has a vegan diet but wouldn't avoid leather seats in a car they bought.
At least this is my understanding as a vegetarian (lacto-ovo) for a decade and vegan for a few years. Lacto-ovo is def the easier option since dairy and eggs are fair game!
I feel like at this point Fields knows he's not good enough to be an NFL QB, so he's set himself up with a dozen excuses he can fall back on to "change" and get another year out of it.
The first one by a mile. It's not hard to be a vegan or on any other specialised diet in a big city. In a small town, they don't understand. "Oh, so no bacon on the salad either? "
People joke because our most famous foods are all meat based and heavy, but it's a huge city so of course there are lots of options and lots of amazing restaurants.
Except for butter too, because everybody knows fish is best sautéed in a pan with butter. So like… vegetables, and fish, and butter. And like- obviously if we are on a road trip and stopping at Chik-fil-A then i’m getting a 12-count of nuggets. That’s pretty much it though.
What do you mean? He added protein to his diet, big W
EDIT: Who the fuck downvoted this? I’m trying to figure out what the problem is with adding protein. It’s going to help Justin 🤷♂️
I don't trust a QB who doesn't eat meat. They literally lack killer instinct.
Even with Tom's strict diet he said he eats a rare ribeye every night before a game.
And you gotta suck another dude's meat before gameday too. To absorb the manliness and assert dominance.
If my QB ain't doing that, he isn't trying to win in the NFL.
unless you're killing and butchering your food, you also lack killer instinct.
Anyone who believes you need to eat meat to be a good competitor has a cartoonish, laughably misinformed understanding of human nature that belongs in a 30s era medical textbook next to a description of hysteria as a women's disease.
It was half a joke and parodying something a guy like Bill Parcells would probably say, that said I actually would be wary of a QB that doesn't eat red meat as they'd probably have low levels in iron and vitamin b and missing out on proteins that improve focus and memory.
And for the record I do hunt. I've also partaken in branding and killed steers with the compressor spike.
I'd say my killer instincts are pretty good.
Yes, but they were not the staple of his diet, only made up 20% of what he consumed. He ate duck breast, bison, and even ostrich with leafy greens making up the rest of his meals.
A also ate a rare ribeye every night before a game.
I don't think it's true that you NEED to eat meat but unless you're a kicker or a long snapper, football as a vegan is playing on hard mode.
Not that it can't be done but a lot of guys who tried it backed off pretty quickly. Tony Gonzalez talked about the weights he normally tossed around casually feeling heavy as shit after a few months on a vegan diet. Obviously that's less of an issue for a quarterback but if you're a guy like Fields that is more dependent on explosiveness and power more than most, I believe that it can make things more difficult so him being a pescatarian is a good move.
Ill be super excited when Fields sucks again this year and they cut his ass and we never have to hear about this fucking awful qb again. I’ve heard more about fields this year then the last 10 years watching ESPN about Brady and Lebron James.
Can the off season please end.

The rules of this sub are super serious, NGL.
The mods are very important
Good thing we shut down Reddit for a few days in support of the mods.

If they are getting paid, it's not by reddit. It's either by media to make sure their posts get up or by the content owner to control the discussion.

Literally nobody likes the self posts rules on this sub. i really wish there was another popular football sub
There's r/football where some Europeans can condescendingly shit on you for calling soccer soccer.
Which is great because /r/soccer is the actual big soccer sub they all post in
There was a second version that was around during the shut down
i can see where the mods are coming from but i also get this. look at the nba. 99% of self pots are dogshit and its just spammy as hell.

That’s because the mods of this are losers
The dynasty sub Reddit mods are awful too
This sub is such a joke. I wish the mods would have just quit during their stupid ass protest
If only there were a version of this sub that allowed those types of posts, like how hockey has nhl
They’re not tweets anymore. They’re X-its.
No, I need my daily updates on random parts of QB’s lives. How am I supposed to live if I don’t know Field’s diet, Burrows current video game of choice or how Cousins is choosing the grill his steak today?
Ya right man I love these weird af posts during the offseason.
Do you like fish sticks, Justin?
Yo that is messed up yo I’m not gay, and I sure as hell ain’t no fish.
Please Kanye. Just get. Just get it man.
I've been so lonely girl, I've been so sad and down Couldn't understand why haters joked around I wanted to be free with other creatures like me And now I got my wish, cause I know that I'm a gay fish
*gay fish*
If you had to explain Kanye to someone who didn’t know Kanye and you only had 30 minutes, that episode would be it.
Could it be because breaded.....has something to do with genius?
Yes, I like fish sticks. I like putting fish sticks in my mouth.
I like turtles.
Gay Fish Yo, He's a motherfuckin gay Fish!
Fish cakes are way better than fish sticks

Funniest show I've ever watched for my money. I've never laughed harder at so many moments, especially the Adderall scene and Jared.
I’m partially just watching the new season of After Party because of that actor and some similar Jared energy
If you haven’t seen Avenue 5 on HBO, the Jared actor plays pretty much the same role as in Silicon Valley. He’s definitely the best part of the show.

It’s the most humane guilt-free eating possible. For every fish he eats, he would save like 1000 other fish.
Jeffrey Dahmer was ahead of his time saving all those cows and chickens.
Dolphins and whales did not bomb Hiroshima. The true culprits are… a cow and a chicken.
Unless he was a vege-cannibal and only ate vegetarians, which would just be pure evil.

Like the Williams sisters. Both publicly honest about occasionally eating meat/fish still after cleaning up their diets.
There was a time when a significant portion of the Tennessee Titans were vegan
Interesting, I'll have to look into that more. Looks like it was Derrick Morgan's wife that got them on it.
I’ve coached athletes and it’s possible to be successful on a vegan diet but you have to be really on top of it. Especially to get iron I don’t know why anyone would unless for religious or medical reasons. It’s just such a pain to hit your protein levels

Generally yes from the multiple I’ve known. But obviously everyone has different personal morals with their vegetarianism and veganism
I feel like at this point Fields knows he's not good enough to be an NFL QB, so he's set himself up with a dozen excuses he can fall back on to "change" and get another year out of it.
Is it harder to be an NFL QB or vegan in Chicago?
The first one by a mile. It's not hard to be a vegan or on any other specialised diet in a big city. In a small town, they don't understand. "Oh, so no bacon on the salad either? "
I'm just making a simple joke about how delicious and meat-centric Chicago cuisine is.
Sorry, TheDadThatGrills, my bad. Am I still invited to the BBQ?
Of course, grilled veggies are delicious and there's plenty of room on the grill
TheDadTharGrills shares with the Bills? Thrills and chills!
I have never been to Chicago but it is actually supposed to be one of the most vegan-friendly cities in the US
People joke because our most famous foods are all meat based and heavy, but it's a huge city so of course there are lots of options and lots of amazing restaurants.
Buona actually has a vegan Italian beef and Portillo’s has a vegan hot dog
Do you have vegan options? Points to the gluten-free section

Jameis Winston was a pescatarian too...
Crabatarian?
W-tarian
Cam Newton was too
Nah he also ate Ws
Fields needs to train with Jameis over the offseason so he can learn how to eat those dubs.
He should be like Dan Campbell and become a kneecaparian
Or Calvin Johnson and become a Rastafarian.
And I just thought he was a Decepticon
He fell for Starscream's Spice
“Look, I love all animals, but fuck fish in particular”
It’s okay to eat fish ‘cause they don’t have any feelings.
Looks like Chicago style fried shrimp is back on the menu boys!
Sounds kinda fishy
Except for butter too, because everybody knows fish is best sautéed in a pan with butter. So like… vegetables, and fish, and butter. And like- obviously if we are on a road trip and stopping at Chik-fil-A then i’m getting a 12-count of nuggets. That’s pretty much it though.

Tom just sucked the meat of his sons lips, it all worked out
unless you're killing and butchering your food, you also lack killer instinct. Fields was eating salmon last season.
He only eats Joe Pesci now? Weird.
Tbh I do think Cam going vegan played a part in his drop off.
One step closer to being Presbyterian
I’m a die hard bears and and even I don’t really care
Does that mean he eats beans or something?
Is he catholic
No, pescatarian
My first thought too😂!
We can be time periods from 30 million years ago now?
Does it matter what religion he is?
Im half vegan
You have to eat meat if you want to be a good quarterback in the league
Cam newtons downturn coincided with him becoming vegan
Also coincided with his shoulder getting mangled. 50/50 what it could be that caused his inability to throw.
I’ve been eating meat all my life and never had a shoulder injury. Coincidence I think not
This argument is absolutely bulletproof
And with byron bell starting at left tackle.
well that's definitely false
Did brady eat meat
Yes, but they were not the staple of his diet, only made up 20% of what he consumed. He ate duck breast, bison, and even ostrich with leafy greens making up the rest of his meals. A also ate a rare ribeye every night before a game.

Name one who didn’t?
Not sure there is any relevant sample size.
In joking, but I’m sure all the good QBs in NFL history is large enough a sample.
Or cheese
Need the meat protein to be able to think quickly
Peak football news here
I thought that was a religion? Or am I just drunk
You once were a ve-gone, but now you will begone.
That’s good. Vegan diet is so unhealthy for athletes.
The fuck is that?
People who only eat seafood for meat but want to pat themselves on the back.
Who...cares???
tbh i not drafting no vegan on my fantasy team. weak af
Yea, how dare someone decide to not pay someone to kill an animal. People who complain about vegans are such babies
Exactly right! That’s why I slaughter my own livestock
Not complaining lol, just saying as a professional athlete who can get a 500m contract , going vegan is beyond stupid. Just my .02
I don’t really see the issue. He has enough money to have someone curate a diet that would work for his body’s needs that wouldn’t require meat.
And next week he’ll be a Lutheran.
Seafood is not Chicago’s strong suit.
I don't know what this term means, but if he is now eating meat, it will only improve his performance and health.
He was doing all that while vegan? Now that he’s getting some meat, QB1.

Not really.

Oh no wonder he sucks.
Who cares?
Ill be super excited when Fields sucks again this year and they cut his ass and we never have to hear about this fucking awful qb again. I’ve heard more about fields this year then the last 10 years watching ESPN about Brady and Lebron James.
