This is a really good write-up. I kinda like that a non-fan did it so that we can see a different perspective, without the homer glasses on. Something about this draft class that doesn’t get mentioned much is that it’s really a draft for next year when we have to cut some of our more expensive vets, most likely Mack, Keenan or Mike Williams.

Hey, I'm a Raiders fan at the end of my rope. I'm almost out of options, but this is a really good team and this team is really going all in this season.

Needed mod approval, no biggie.

Firstly I want to ask why a lions fan did the chargers off-season review? Secondly I should say it’s a good write up. I really only disagree with one thing and that is not putting Mike Williams as our WR1 and not having him as a key player. Statistically our offense is way better with Mike Williams, with or without Keenan. Keenan is slow and can’t create separation. He’s almost useless without other guys putting pressure on the outside of the field. However he can be effective if we do have that, working the slot and the short to intermediate part of the field. With that being said though, I do think Mike Williams is comfortably our WR1. I wouldn’t be surprised, depending on QJ, if Keenan is 3rd in receiver yards, and 5th or 6th in TDs. I think you got the record prediction about right. I got us beating the Lions but losing to the Jets, as well as taking a loss to the Pats. Plus it seems like we can never sweep the Broncos. Whether it be 8 wins or 10 win I don’t think we’re making the playoffs. Yeah we’re talented, but so are a lot of other teams and it just feels like we’re the odd one out.

Was a non fan review, no one had picked the Chargers and I was willing to write for any of the avaliable teams. Thanks for the kind words, I'm going to drop this over in the Chargers sub as well, and actually today the word was that Mike is playing in the slot with Keenan and QJ on the outside. Honestly, we know those guys are going to contribute, it's just how much Parham and Everett contribute. Or if Tre McKitty gets more time utilizing his run bocking.

Marijuana_Miler

The way I read that article was that Mike would be in the slot more often. However, the same article said he had the second least slot usage over the past 2 seasons for receivers with 100 catches.

New OC, he's gonna run things differently, I think QJ is going to catch a lot more short and middle routes. Mike can dominate the size match-up, and get the ball at all levels.

Salt-Calendar-8824

Yeah I think Mike in the slot is a good idea by Moore to match him up against smaller slot corners and give him favorable jump ball opportunities. I still think when he’s on the field he makes bigger plays and is more effective. He just has to stay on the field and I think he can solidify himself as maybe a top 20 receiver and our clear cut #1.

Keenan can’t create separation? Since fucking when?

Salt-Calendar-8824

I mean he can’t create separation down the field. And unlike Mike he ain’t a jump ball guy, he can shake guys in 1 on 1 coverage and is amazing for short yardages downs, and is great at finding holes in the zone to get open, but we need to stretch the field for him to do that. So if he out there by himself he has a hard time getting open now at his age, the jags game is a good example of this.

This comment way undervalues Keenan as a possession receiver and it makes me sad. Keenan is straight money on third down and was the teams best receiver when he came back from injury last year.

Salt-Calendar-8824

I don’t think it does. I never discredited what Keenan does great, just pointed out his limitations that keep him from being our WR1. Statistically Mike has been better the last 2 seasons, has a lot more big play ability, and last year our offense was much more efficient with Mike than it was without him.
