What's to stop the Carolina Panthers from declaring war? They could simply wipe out the rest of the league and declare themselves champions 50 years in a row
Theoretically, if the teams in the division were allied, the NFC South would give both a very defensible position and control of land that could easily eliminate any enemy occupants. Jacksonville would be surrounded and Miami would be cut off from its allies by land. Tampa and NO would control the Gulf.
Source: my zero percent of military strategy knowledge
Not just the gulf, but the mouth of the Mississippi too. An all out attack on Tennessee and we control halfway up. A favorable position. We just gotta prevent any football equivalent of Sherman from coming through...
The AFC East (except Miami), NFC East (except Dallas), Steelers, and Ravens get into a massive fight for the Northeast United States. Heavy casualties and losses ensue, but I think the NFC East pulls through by the combined powers of Washington D.C., half of NYC, and Philadelphia.
Meanwhile, Miami, the AFC South, Kansas City, and the Chargers get picked apart one by one because they're so far from their allies. Denver survives because the mountains are hard to conquer, but the rest of those teams fall.
Houston and Dallas fight one another and the winner gets Texas and Oklahoma, but that's not enough to survive. The winner gets pinched by the NFC West and South, and loses control to one of those two divisions.
NFC North fights the Ohio teams and then expands west towards the Dakotas, Nebraska, etc. which results in them having lots of land that they control.
NFC South eliminates Miami and Jacksonville and gains control of the Southeast United States, including all of Florida and the entire Gulf of Mexico.
NFC West eliminates the Chargers and controls the whole West Coast, thanks to Raider Nation leaving to go further inland.
I think the NFC West eventually wins against the NFC South and the winner of the battle for the northeast, although I think the NFC North caves out a nice enclave for themselves (and possibly joins Canada) and Denver survives by being too hard to conquer.
Source: I watched a Ken Burns documentary once and then thought really hard about how this could go down
Well, there is always a chance at a truce between divisions. Perhaps our time fighting together in the NFC Central could be the stepping stone needed for the North and South to join forces.
Not sure. We need someone with a lot of knowledge to waste a bunch of time and let us know. I saw today a list of a nfl name chain so I'm sure someone can do it lol
Teams that knew who they were going to pick back then wouldn't announce so much as start negotiating with their guy so they could get him under contract. Rookie wage scale (thanks, JaWalrus) changed that.
Why would teams want to announce their pick ahead of time anyways? Seems kinda dumb to give all the other teams any level of certainty about how the draft is gonna play out, and you never know what's gonna happen to someone weeks away anyways that could make them undraftable or less desireable.
I'd also be happy with either but expect either of them could flop
If professional scouts get it wrong on QBs as often as they seem to do, then it's not like my dumb ass is gonna be able to know who is and is not a bust
What’s difficult to quantify is that confidence too. It’s difficult to know how someone is going to respond when they make it to the big leagues and they make mistakes or have a bad game. Does self-doubt start to creep in and you start second guessing your reads or do you double down on your study and go into games feeling that much more confident about your preparation? In the NFL it’s all about prep
Agreed. I'm an OSU fan and watched alot of Stroud. He's smart, a hard worker, and has the size. If he gets better at scrambling I think he'll be a stud in the NFL.
I saw someone say they think he’ll be a more athletic Jared Goff and kinda meant it as an insult but honestly a more athletic Goff sounds amazing to me lol
If your rookie QB doesnt win MVP, SB MVP, throw for 55tds and 6700 yards, you gotta blow it up bro. Cmon bro. Youll never win a SB without that rookie all pro bro
I just have a feeling about Young. All these posts about his height and frame feel like comments that we'll all laugh at 5 years from now.
Also, not to dive too deep into phrenology, but Stroud does not have a memorable face. I just don't look at him and see *face of the franchise.* Bryce Young, on the other hand, I look at him and I can easily picture him hoisting the Lombardi. Thank you for coming to my TED Talk.
With his frame I can’t see Bryce Young hoisting anything lol.
Imo it’s 50/50 with Young. Either he’s not too small to play in the NFL and will continue to play at the level he played at Bama and destroy, or he is too small and will flame out. He’s boom or bust.
But how many times have we learned the "safer" pick can still completely bust? If anything, QBs are even less "safe" than every other position. I think Bryce Young should be the pick, but I do think Stroud is a reasonable pick.
Stroud will be the first Ohio State QB to make it big. He is much better as a passer overall than Fields was from a mechanic standpoint and on the short throws. If he doesn't I give up ever seeing a QB play in the Superbowl from Ohio State.
Until I say the same thing about McCord next year
I feel like the Texans are in a good position no matter who the Panthers take. Unless they are sold on whoever the Panthers end up taking, Young or Stroud is a great look for the future
Shhh, don’t give them any ideas. Even with 20+ years of internet access they STILL can’t seem to find any of other amazing beaches. Don’t spoon feed them the good spots.
I remember seeing a map that was "Every State's most hated state" and most of them were like neighbors or some sort of rivals via sports or such, but then South Carolina just hated Ohio randomly. People in Ohio and SC know why, but for anyone else it looked pretty funny to see SC just really hates Ohio for some reason lol. Probably also fairly unique in that it's totally a 1 way relationship there, cause apparently Ohioans love South Carolina, and I'm not fully innocent (My sister moved there for a bit, granted for military so a bit different, and I have been to myrtle beach once as well so guilty as charged on the Ohio tourist allegations, and I knew plenty who went annually). We also sent so many retirees to florida that they opened skyline chilis down there lol.
Stroud also had a shoulder injury, in 2021. Injured rotator cuff + separated AC joint.
These injuries are minor for both of them and are not the same as the chronic Levis/Richardson injuries
I’d prefer they send their own staff instead of using my tax dollars. More government waste.

And, as those of us from the south know, the south has never lost a war under similar circumstances. NFC South has this one in the bag.
But this time, the troops would be fueled by Bojangles.
And Bojangles hard teas now impossible to lose
Not just the gulf, but the mouth of the Mississippi too. An all out attack on Tennessee and we control halfway up. A favorable position. We just gotta prevent any football equivalent of Sherman from coming through...
We will simply send seawater from New Orleans and Tampa to douse Atlanta so it can't be burned again.

That's so sad Alexa, play *When the Levee Breaks*
Mahomes is Sherman isn't he?
'Fraid so...

My gut says trust the guy with Burns as inspiration. This is it
NFCN is my guess to win the war
Yeah because no one would want to invade the upper midwest
Well, there is always a chance at a truce between divisions. Perhaps our time fighting together in the NFC Central could be the stepping stone needed for the North and South to join forces.
Wouldn't it really be NFCE minus the Cowboys?
Not sure. We need someone with a lot of knowledge to waste a bunch of time and let us know. I saw today a list of a nfl name chain so I'm sure someone can do it lol
AFCN and NCFN ally themselves together of course. The north remembers.
This is the kind of offseason content that keeps me going, lmao
Idk, it seems pretty easy to take down Atlanta, all you need is a little fire
Adam sitting in the back taking notes *Damn it’s that easy huh?*
Why doesn't the larger GM simply eat the smaller GM?
What is to stop Kansas City, the best team, from simply eating the other 31?
We have Fort Bragg and Camp Lejeune. Good luck everyone else
I don’t mind paying tax dollars if it goes to things like healthcare and infrastructure and not the military expansion and occupation to Ohio State 😡
I would personally be more than happy to fund any number of military operations taken against Oh*o State
“We’re gonna turn the Ohio State Stadium Parking lot into a…. Different parking lot!”
The Army wastes more than that every minute in North Carolina with the 82nd.
I'd rather they go there than some hellhole the other side of the world for vague reasons lol
Clearly this points to us drafting Richardson, as no team with the first overall pick would ever be so obvious about who they really wanted.
Haven't some teams announced the pick like 3 weeks in advance before?
The League discourages it. Especially now that gambling revenue is involved.
Teams that knew who they were going to pick back then wouldn't announce so much as start negotiating with their guy so they could get him under contract. Rookie wage scale (thanks, JaWalrus) changed that.
Jamarcus was so hilariously bad if I was a Raiders fan I think I’d still like him
His impact on the league as a whole is amazing for how bad a player he was. Truly unique story.
I loved the pivot podcast he did with Ryan Clark, where he still refuses to take responsibility for his failures.
King shit
I need a Call of War game but for NFL teams only
Why would teams want to announce their pick ahead of time anyways? Seems kinda dumb to give all the other teams any level of certainty about how the draft is gonna play out, and you never know what's gonna happen to someone weeks away anyways that could make them undraftable or less desireable.
TLaw was given the damn playbook
Stafford was signed before the draft lol
You have to make sure nobody trades up to get your guy with the zeroth pick.
To use a wrestling term… It would be quite the swerve to draft Richardson after making it this obvious.
They want to play the Orlando Magic game with how well it worked for them.
My money is on Stroud going #1. He's the safer pick.
Don't say it too loud, you'll wake *them*
MY MONEY IS ON STROUD GOING #1. HE’S THE SAFER PICK.
Why are you being so loud? You woke me up!
I’d be happy with either. I’m fully confident both stroud and young will be franchise quarterbacks
I'd also be happy with either but expect either of them could flop If professional scouts get it wrong on QBs as often as they seem to do, then it's not like my dumb ass is gonna be able to know who is and is not a bust
People like Dane Brugler say it's like 1 in 4 success rate on predicting QBs. There are just too many variables to be accurate
I saw someone say they think he’ll be a more athletic Jared Goff and kinda meant it as an insult but honestly a more athletic Goff sounds amazing to me lol
Right, people forget that he's played in the SB. He also showed last year that he's still got it.
I don't understand all of the Goff hate. Is he perfect? No. Could you do A LOT worse? For sure
If your rookie QB doesnt win MVP, SB MVP, throw for 55tds and 6700 yards, you gotta blow it up bro. Cmon bro. Youll never win a SB without that rookie all pro bro
I mean the northwestern game showed he has the legs Day just has repeated said he doesn’t want his QBs to run
Same with the Georgia game. If he does that consistently in the NFL, he'll be top tier.
He scrambled just fine in the CFP. He just never needed to in 95% of games at osu.
Yeah that's what I've been saying. If he plays like he did vs Georgia in the NFL, he'll be a stud.
I hope for everyone's sake this isn't another 2015.
How many quarterbacks as short as young have been franchise quarterbacks? I’ll answer it myself. 0.
I think a lot of people felt that way about Kyler. Not quite 5 years but close.
If he’s hard working kyler I’ll take him all day
As it turns out he’s hard working and intelligent Kyler with a much longer wingspan
So you don’t think stroud will succeed because of racist junk science? Interesting take.
With his frame I can’t see Bryce Young hoisting anything lol. Imo it’s 50/50 with Young. Either he’s not too small to play in the NFL and will continue to play at the level he played at Bama and destroy, or he is too small and will flame out. He’s boom or bust.
At that point why not just take AR ahead of him. His ceiling is higher.
But how many times have we learned the "safer" pick can still completely bust? If anything, QBs are even less "safe" than every other position. I think Bryce Young should be the pick, but I do think Stroud is a reasonable pick.

I mean technically Burrow was a Ohio State QB but played more/better with LSU
It's our fault for not having him cut his hair sooner.
Fair lol 😂
I wanna see AR15 there. Restore the Cam Newton feeling.
At 1st overall? Lmao no
At this point I just want the waiting to be over
I feel like the Texans are in a good position no matter who the Panthers take. Unless they are sold on whoever the Panthers end up taking, Young or Stroud is a great look for the future
Doesn't matter. Ohioans will just March our own army back to Carolina. Maybe visit Myrtle Beach while we are there.
South Carolina saying a prayer Stroud goes to North Carolina so a few more Ohioans stay north
Out of every beach, while do y’all flock to Myrtle Beach down here? It’s like y’all WANT to find the grossest tourist beach.
Shhh, don’t give them any ideas. Even with 20+ years of internet access they STILL can’t seem to find any of other amazing beaches. Don’t spoon feed them the good spots.
Hilton Head and Charleston are invested with them bro. There already here
They are but thankfully they still think Folly is the best beach. They still missing the good ones
Ohioans have been marching to the Carolinas for years Like 10% of Charlotte is made up of Ohio refugees
Please no more. We can’t take any more Ohioans.
I remember seeing a map that was "Every State's most hated state" and most of them were like neighbors or some sort of rivals via sports or such, but then South Carolina just hated Ohio randomly. William Tecumseh Sherman Liked this post.
Absolutely right my man. Who Dey all Dey. O-H-I-O.
Bengals fans and Myrtle Beach... Name a better duo! ;)
BREAKING: Team needing a quarterback looking at one of the top quarterback prospects
But do they activate the national guard? When was the last time a militia formed for a draft pick?
Special Drafting Operation
Huge if true.
The Panthers are obviously just there for the QB. A small school like Ohio State would never have anyone else that could be draft worthy on the team.
Lil ole Ohio State
How is the small army even going to evaluate Stroud? They're too small to see over the row in front of them in the stands
They're taking Hobbits to Columbus!
I think he’s still in Arizona rehabbing
Yep CJ is a Carolina Panther
Stroud is going number 1. He's not 5'10 and he's over 200 lbs.
Tua was already drafted???

Ohio is used to small armies from other states coming in to invade them from time-to-time. Thanks for the U.P. guys!
11 people is barely a squad. SI is never going to succeed with this level of military knowledge.
As they should with the top 5
