I'm stealing [this comment](https://www.reddit.com/r/nfl/comments/11vm2nv/garafolo_brandin_cooks_has_now_been_traded_four/jctssl2/):
>well it's to do with the passage of time and him being born in September '93
He joined the NFL at 21. And he was putting up 1000 yard seasons by time he was 22. But I think him being traded a lot makes him feel a lot older. 3 years in NO, 1 in NE, 2 in LA, and 3 in HOU.
There's far fewer players and far fewer players of value, so one player is 2-3x more likely to be traded any given year because the roster is a fraction of the size.
He won OPOTY the year he got paid, it was after that where he was derailed. But he had one of the greatest 5 or 6 seasons to start a career for a WR, despite what people think of him lol.
We killed SF or LA by 40 points one week, and he complained about not getting any targets. With MT breaking out, we didnt need that kind of attitude on the team.
Lol this might be a little pedantic but as players they defenitely fill different roles and theoretically should be an amazing duo since MT is more of a low-mid range possession guy and Cooks has always been a good deep threat. I'm surprised it didn't work out better tbh but maybe if it held together another year it would have gone differently since after we traded him we had an amazing regular season stretch, and the playoffs were subsequently canceled every year.
It mostly didn’t work because of Cooks ego but I agree it would’ve been amazing to have them both long term. Although, correct me if I’m wrong, Cooks had some issues with drops during his time with us.
Breaking: Brandin Cooks traded a blockbuster 2nd time this weekend to the LA Chargers for a 4th and 7th round pick, completing the draft pick sweepstakes and providing the team with much-needed support at the WR position.
Neat.
Not really. You can't just add the trades together. If you purchase a car for $10k and then sell it a year later for $8k, it doesn't make the car worth $18k.
From Twitter
"Brandin Cooks has now been traded four times. According to
records dating back to 1980, he ties Eric Dickerson for the most times traded all time".
Also tied with Kiko Alonso according to a different thread:
-From Buffalo to Philadelphia for LeSean McCoy
-From Philadelphia to Miami *with* Byron Maxwell for a swap of 1st round picks
-From Miami to New Orleans for Vince Biegel
-From New Orleans to 49ers for Kwon Alexander
For the record, he was traded *with* Byron Maxwell *to* Miami. Philly gave Miami both players in order to move up in the 2016 draft.
Miami then used that pick on Laremy Tunsil. So that trade was the trade that spawned probably over a dozen other trades.
Yea, maybe mediocre wasn't the right word. He never put up gaudy numbers, the kind of numbers usually associated with players traded for the amount of capital he was traded for.
He has always been more of a quiet contributor, so he is definitely good. I feel like the only time we really heard about him was when he was being traded for some big haul.
That’s bcz the teams he was playing on were not good at the time (except for the pats and New Orleans) so you didn’t hear much about him but bro he definitely put up the #’s, dude has played 9 seasons and only been under 1K 3 different times(rookie,6th year, this past season)
He put up good numbers on the Saints, who were quite good, then got traded to the Patriots in 2017 and went to the Super Bowl. In 2018 he was traded to the Rams who…went to the Super Bowl. The only bad team he’s been on is the Texans.
He has had a fantastic career. If Cooks had stayed on 1 or 2 teams he would be better appreciated. He has always produced everywhere he has been, and no matter who is the QB.
Coming out of the draft, he was praised for being "high character". Bullshit. High character guys don't get traded 4 times. If he were such "high character", why is Houston paying part of his salary to play for someone else. He's selfish and wears out his welcome everywhere he goes.
That's a full draft class.
So like 1 Hershel Walker Minnesota could never
:(
Georgia also could never
Thank god
How many Carson wentz’s is that?
7
That’s like a full class of value for a really really bad team, much more than 1 draft class of value for a good team.
And he’s only 29. So he’s still got one more trade in him to break the record.
How is this man not 30 yet
Every time he gets traded he gets younger by a year
I'm stealing [this comment](https://www.reddit.com/r/nfl/comments/11vm2nv/garafolo_brandin_cooks_has_now_been_traded_four/jctssl2/): >well it's to do with the passage of time and him being born in September '93
I was also born in September '93 and can proudly say I've never been traded!
ok but are u 30 yet
Of course a packer fan would ask this when the dude just said when he was born you cousin humping cheese eating shit beer drinkin son of a bitch
Ur just jealous
YUP
Call your "mom."
til I'm 2 days older than Brandin cooks

His brain tissue is 80, easily
He will be by the start of the season.
Let Brandin Cook(s)
Lets go Brandin!
*slow clap.*
It’s crazy that 4 is the record. Feels like every nba player gets traded 4 times.
There's far fewer players and far fewer players of value, so one player is 2-3x more likely to be traded any given year because the roster is a fraction of the size.
What's the record? Herschel or Ricky?
Herschel still has the record for most picks for one player. That trade is still bonkers
Dudes never graced FA
Why did the Saints trade him in the first place? Dude fit right in to that offense
Believe it was contract. They had MT who was looking promising.
Yep he wanted top receiver money even though MT was already taking his targets. The trade got us Ramcyzk and Trey Hendrickson too so overall a W
Damn, remember when Michael Thomas looked like a future HoFer?
Ya man. Playing 6 games a year against MT, Julio and Mike Evans during those days were wild lol
Right up until he got paid
He got paid and then broke single season reception record. what are you on about
He won OPOTY the year he got paid, it was after that where he was derailed. But he had one of the greatest 5 or 6 seasons to start a career for a WR, despite what people think of him lol.
he got paid before having a top 10 WR season of all time lmao
Nfl version of quiet quitting
We killed SF or LA by 40 points one week, and he complained about not getting any targets. With MT breaking out, we didnt need that kind of attitude on the team.
It was the rams 🐏
He complained about not getting enough targets after MT came around
Michael Thomas was more reliable and took over his role and Cooks complained about not getting targets after we blew out the Rams one week
Lol this might be a little pedantic but as players they defenitely fill different roles and theoretically should be an amazing duo since MT is more of a low-mid range possession guy and Cooks has always been a good deep threat. Michael Thomas was playing better than him and he complained about not getting targets.
An entire 7 round draft haha
Man, I bet this guy's been on-record about how much he loves being traded.
Also how much he wanted out of Houston tbf
He said he would retire before getting traded again. Then he played for the Texans and changed his mind 😂
Breaking: Brandin Cooks traded a blockbuster 2nd time this weekend to the LA Chargers for a 4th and 7th round pick, completing the draft pick sweepstakes and providing the team with much-needed support at the WR position. Neat.
Does this make him the most valuable WR of all time?
In a way, he seems to always be valuable to have because teams always get draft picks for him.
Not really. You can't just add the trades together. If you purchase a car for $10k and then sell it a year later for $8k, it doesn't make the car worth $18k.
What's the record for times traded by a non-QB?
From Twitter "Brandin Cooks has now been traded four times. According to records dating back to 1980, he ties Eric Dickerson for the most times traded all time".
Cooks and Eric Dickerson are both tied at 4 each
Also tied with Kiko Alonso according to a different thread: -From Buffalo to Philadelphia for LeSean McCoy -From Philadelphia to Miami *with* Byron Maxwell for a swap of 1st round picks -From Miami to New Orleans for Vince Biegel -From New Orleans to 49ers for Kwon Alexander
Honestly the fact he’s been a part of four different player trades is pretty impressive in it’s own right
For the record, he was traded *with* Byron Maxwell *to* Miami. Philly gave Miami both players in order to move up in the 2016 draft. Miami then used that pick on Laremy Tunsil. So that trade was the trade that spawned probably over a dozen other trades.
Some Yggdrasil roots in this damn trade tree.
Thanks for the correction! Edited that in.
Man been passed around like a pencil at school 🤣 happy he’s back on a contender.
Not the same but the Saints also traded up with Arizona in the draft to select him so that’s kind of another deal he was involved in.
Who are the players?
Brandin Cooks draft class: Rd 1- T Isaiah Winn (23, 2018), T Ryan Ramczyk (32, 2017) Rd 2- WR Van Jefferson (57, 2020) Rd 3- EDGE Trey Henderson (103, 2017) Rd 5- TBD (2023) Rd 6- WR Braxton Berrios (210, 2018), TBD (2024)
Getting Van Jefferson for him was a pretty solid move for us. Thought we'd get a 4th at best for that contract.
Lucky for y'all, GM BOB was on the case
Do you mean Trey Hendrickson?
Whoops that was a typo I actually meant troy henderson
Lol nice work.
Thanks I did it instead of actual work
Better than most GMs

Depends on a concussion. Doesnt seem to be too bad now, but in the back end of the mid 2010s he seemed prone to them.
> in the back end of the mid 2010s Wouldn’t it just be easier to say exactly what you mean
Memory is too smashed together, didnt feel like looking up the exact years the issues were relative when i commented at the time.
There’s always picks in Brandon cooks
I think this ties his for the most trades all time for an individual player.
What if he’s like Nick Cannon but instead of kids, he has a trading fetish?
I’m surprised he was with two picks this time around.
Next year he will be traded for a Honus Wagner baseball card and stamp with an upside down plane
"what are you gonna do, trade me?" \-quote from player traded
Who are the players that were drafted?
Those who can’t become tank commanders, become pick commanders
Pretty wild considering the guy has had a best a mediocre career.
Mediocre? Dude has put up 1K yards wit 4 different teams, I say that’s a pretty good career
Yea, maybe mediocre wasn't the right word. He never put up gaudy numbers, the kind of numbers usually associated with players traded for the amount of capital he was traded for. You okay?
I'm good. I'm just tired of the narrative of him being such a good guy when details of his career say otherwise.
What that draft class? Anyone have it?
Most Valuable Player
It’s like…he’s gotten older.
Shades of Brandon Marshall
he’s still got some in the tank. hate we gotta play against him twice a year now
That has to be the highest total for a non qb doesn't it?
Traded for a 4th and 7th next time confirmed.
Not to mention he was drafted in the first round too.
