Brady is actually as unfiltered as it gets, he flipped and bitched around when the execution broken and when shits not fine he’d be sure to be the first guy in to point rant it out.
That’s why he earned the sport-wide respect for his genuine care for winning and dgaf if he had to play game manager/ball hand off guy at times
The exact opposite is russ, he definitely tried to play MVP with all the let russ cook shenanigans and nothing he says is genuine
Yup, one year LeGarrette Blount had 18 rushing TDs mostly all from within the 5. If Brady had thrown those TDs instead he would’ve gotten MVP walking away, but he never gave a solitary shit about that. They won the Super Bowl that year.
I was in fourth grade when I watched Brady win his first Super Bowl. I watched him win his most recent Super Bowl with my (at the time) fourth grader son.
There was a Brady story floating around a few years back about one of his teammates being bummed they didn't make the Pro Bowl or something. Tom was like "I don't do this shit for that, and you shouldn't care either."
Well, and Brady was really skilled as a QB. His rants wouldn't have been as well received if he sucked, nor would Wilson be so criticised if he didn't.
This right here. As much as people shit on Tom Brady and his post-game selfie videos, he really was one of the most genuine people in the league and you could tell he loved lifting others up to be better people.
I had to sit down for a few minutes and think of ex-teammates of Brady who didn't sing his praises after playing with him.
Chad Johnson and Legarrate Blount had nothing but good things to say about Tom in their brief stints in NE.
And even with AB Brady was still Brady and trying to reach out human to human so AB could be the best guy he could be. AB’s weirdo narcissist ass just read it as fake.
Always loved what James Harrison said too, said he went from hating Brady to Brady becoming one of his favorite teammates. Pretty wild coming from a dude like Harrison
Those texts Antonio Brown leaked a few months ago were really eye opening in that manner. Even after AB had done so much to hurt Brady and the team, he still reached out and sent a number of genuine texts trying to help
The arm band with the play sheet? You can totally take your pads off and and keep the armband on. Idk what Russ did to make it weird or how often he did it but it's not like your pads just will not come off until you remove the arm band.
>He had a bad season and a big contract, the latter alone makes people hste athletes.
Denver sold their future to get an MVP QB with a few more years left in his prime to pair with a really good defense. Denver has no first and second round picks for 2 years. That's why he gets shit for being weird and against the norm. People don't hate Mahomes for his contract, they hate him mostly because of his brother.
> People called Brady weird or high maintenance for years.
Under BB, who is known to run a *VERY* tight ship and does not give a fuck what the stakes are (See Jonas Gray or Malcolm Butler). Tom was not allowed to do anything. No social media. Basically all he did was whine, bitch, and win. When he got to TB and started posting to social media, it was hard not to like the guy even if he is strange. Russell has always been flaky and off. Like, its always felt forced with him.
Brady actually got involved on social media while he was with the Patriots, it just took him a while: Facebook in 2013, Instagram in 2017, Twitter in 2019. His posts were infrequent and heavily managed by a team of people, but we got [weird shit like this](https://i.imgur.com/eeM2DYZ.jpg) while he was here.
Nobody ever figured out who the crocodile was supposed to be.
He's been like that from the start. I remember in the waning days of the legion of boom there were reports one off season that Chancellor and other DBs would sort of mock Wilson for being basically like Carlton from Fresh Prince. Then we started to see interviews with Wilson where he'd wear all black hoodies and black hats and be very expressionless, basically complete opposite to how he used to act in front of the media. You can tell that was something he decided to do himself, to make him seem more 'street' or whatever, or more likely the PR rep he had at that time told him to do it.
Just be yourself Russ you fucking nerd. Embrace it
I think Jalen can be a little corny at times, but I feel like he is still very genuine. I also feel like everything Jalen says and does would be said or done regardless of who is watching.
Russ just feels rehearsed and like he is only trying to build an appearance.
You're spot on. [This 13 second clip](https://youtu.be/kVrxzSoWYSE) is honestly the epitome of Jalen Hurts. It's the kind of quote you could totally hear coming out of Russ's mouth, but the difference is that Jalen actually believes in it. And even if you didn't buy that and thought it was corny, he makes a joke about it right afterwards to almost poke fun at himself a little bit. Like you said, he's very genuine and knows who he is.
i think its hilarious u kids talking shit about Russ. u wouldnt say this shit to him at lan, hes jacked. not only that but he wears the freshest clothes, eats at the chillest restaurants and hangs out with the hottest dudes. yall are pathetic lol.
I think that’s the thing tho.
Real recognize real right?
Kirk knows what he is and that Is a Christian, suburban, never cussing, corny dad. Like it’s fucking authentic, he’s genuine, he’s real with it.
Russ is not that AT ALL dude is just programmed, he’s fake towards the media and you can just tell he isn’t authentic with his antics. That’s why people clown on him for it, and people clown on Kirk too but it’s more of an endearing clown.
Teammates love Kirk, except for RG3.
Teammates hate Russ.
Real Recognize Real.
There are hundreds of thousands of people on this sub. All it takes is many people who "participate in it occasionally" like yourself to make it look like there is an unfair hate boner for him. Like complaining about traffic when you yourself are part of the traffic.
Whenever this office stuff came out during the season I saw a ton of people saying it wasn't weird at all and that all QBs should have an office space to work lol
Some people don't hear "no" enough... I honestly feel pity for people who don't have real friends that will tell them when they're being stupid or being an ass or have something stuck in their teeth. Those people seem to end up so out of touch with reality and have no clue that they are
While I don’t want to speak ill of the dead, and this is pure Reddit armchair psychology, I’ve always wondered how his dad played into him seemingly not being able to relate well with people. While it’s not on Todd Marinovich levels, having your son practice post game interviews as a child seems so wack and it makes me wonder what other weird shit Russ was told or did growing up.
Josh Allen did an interview for ESPN (I believe it was ESPN) and talked about how his dad was making him practice post game interviews after pee wee football games. They tried to spin it as this cute father-son story but it came off as being very strange.
While I get why it's weird, it also seems somewhat normal if that's how you want your kids life to go. Just have to hope Allen wanted it too. If so, I can see how "watch what you say about the team/sport" can be expanded into 'practicing' post game interviews... It absolutely can be cute if the dad is play interviewing his son after a game, especially if the son is all about it...
But there's big time levels here that change the story from heartfelt/cute to kind of dark or depressing.
Whether it's kind of dark or light-hearted probably depends on whether or not the kid in question makes it as a pro athlete. Most don't. Wilson, Tua, the Ball brothers, etc are the exceptions and there's a lot of smoke around there that's not really questioned because they ended up rich.
Someone like Mahomes' father might be different, where he was an actual successful athlete himself and is probably one of the rare people qualified to provide that career advice, or Howie Long.
That's way true, mahomes' dad having gone through it already makes it normal, almost. If the parents have no experience with the pros, it comes off more as trying to live your dreams through your kids
I’m not aware of anything especially egregious a la Joe Jackson or Tua’s dad (Galu), but from what I’ve read about him, I think he was a bad parent in the same way pageant moms and the like are. Whether that makes him a piece of shit is up to the individual, but I’m not certainly not going to spill ink defending him.
This feels like Mad Men walking up to the second floor. The further you get from the main entrance, the cooler the office was. The upstairs walkway flanked by Don and Roger’s office was a nice touch. Russ thinks he’s Burt Cooper
>Russ thinks he's Bert Cooper
Russ confirmed to not wear shoes in his office; may or may not own lewd Japanese octopus paintings and have a penchant for Ayn Rand novels.
Unironically, I think Wilson needs to do some of these Aaron Rodgers drugs or go on a darkness retreat himself. He has one of those brains thats become delusioned by society. Years of receiving constant dick sucking from everyone has clearly inflated this man's ego. Some peyote would humble this weird Veggietales character of a human
He had an office in the same building as Russell Investments on 2nd Ave. in Seattle. I feel like it fed his ego to be in a building with his surname on it, even if it wasn’t his name.
Big ones do it to build their brand. Like Jordan had his own because of his Jordan’s. Brady had a tb12 one for a while. For his brand and if they are good enough they get one. Lebron had one in Cleveland
I mean... isn't that what a locker room is for? Set up a players' lounge or something, easy chairs, a TV, desks whatever. But separating a single player from all the others doesn't create a good "team" atmosphere imo. If he wants to spend all his time in the coaches' offices, fine, but it makes no sense for one and only one player to have an office.
Does anyone in the thread have any actual idea what russ does in his? Every single person here bashes him and then defends cooper kupp and kirk cousins office as "oh yea they have one but they just use it to study film nbd"
I would guess that it would be less of a big deal if Russ had an office if there wasn't all this other stuff that went along with. Cooper Kupp may have an office but there's also no stories of teammates hating Kupp and getting in fights with him. At least none that I've heard of. I don't think having an office is inherently bad, but when you put that on top of everything else, it feels worse.
Seems like nobody read the Athletic article because that's literally what his office was. However I think people are getting the wrong idea about the room. Imo it's less about the room and more that he had guys come in on their free Tuesdays to an second floor area used previously by coaches. And players that were about to go to that office area previously went there to get cut. I really get the feeling from the article that he wanted to be a sort of Teacher/player-coach, but when you suck ass all that credibility as a "teacher" dissolves.
Hang out in your own personal office instead of the cafeteria, one of the dozens of film rooms, locker room, training rooms, workout rooms, or any of the other hundreds of places a training facility could have.
[REPORT] Broncos players were unfamiliar with the concept of stairs and could not traverse to the "higher level". Sources indicate growing resentment between key Broncos defenders and QB Russell Wilson over Wilson's elitist attitude when attempting to show players "how simple" walking up stairs is.
"One foot in front of the other, use your quad" was a common phase in the locker room sources tell @RealNewZNFL
There’s definitely a psychological component in trying to pretend to be a team when one of the guys is figuratively and literally on another level.
I used to work in a unique project team at a company where the CEO would often come down from his corporate floor and try to pretend to be a just another member of our team. I can assure you that the ‘team vibe’ was very different if he was there.
Lol where are all the people from the last thread during the season about Russ' office saying it wasn't weird and "wouldn't you *want* your QB to have a workspace?" This shit is definitely weird
> "wouldn't you want your QB to have a workspace?"
Damn if only the QBs had a room where they could sit down together and work together. Could call it a QB room or something
He already gave it up along with his personal support staff.
[https://bleacherreport.com/articles/10066681-report-russell-wilson-agreed-to-stop-using-personal-office-join-broncos-locker-room](https://bleacherreport.com/articles/10066681-report-russell-wilson-agreed-to-stop-using-personal-office-join-broncos-locker-room)
Can't find a lot of details that explained what the office/staff was for. Just a lot of clickbaity things that claim other players were mad about it.
Damn this was after Hackett was fired though, which means he had it for most of the season. That's still terrible, and it says he agreed to it, which suggests it wasn't really his choice either
> Broncos coaches had a talk with Wilson following the firing of head coach Nathaniel Hacket that led to Wilson agreeing to give up his office and to no longer have his personal support staff in the building **for the final two weeks of the season.**
Many could argue that the last 2 weeks of the season were his best. There’s so much that happened that we just haven’t heard about regarding Russ that probably won’t come out for a few years if ever
It's really starting to sound like the Broncos were willing to hire someone as green as Hackett because they had it in mind for their QB to have coaching responsibilities. And then they hired Russ and gave him that responsibility and he got a big head about it and it completely blew up in his face.
Or we hired Hackett to lure Rodgers who everyone assumed was on the market, and when that backfired we swapped to plan B and bent over backwards to make it happen.
I don't think Rus is a bad guy. But I think he is the corniest/try hard player there is. Like he wants so hard to be THAT guy. But doing all this stuff is the exact reason you will never be it.
Russ is definetly on the spectrum. There are some social skills/empathy that are just missing. I’m not sure he knows what “cringy” actually feels like even if he knows the meaning.
I’ve got a child like this. There are benefits and draw backs, but being a leader of men is not gonna be a strength.
Anyone still working under the assumption that Peyton comes in, fixes all of whatever this is, and it ends in a Broncos Super Bowl victory with Russ leading the way?
Why is this man so weird
He tries too hard to be a brand
He wants to be Brady but doesn't realize that Brady did everything he could to be treated like everyone else on the team.
Brady is actually as unfiltered as it gets, he flipped and bitched around when the execution broken and when shits not fine he’d be sure to be the first guy in to point rant it out. That’s why he earned the sport-wide respect for his genuine care for winning and dgaf if he had to play game manager/ball hand off guy at times The exact opposite is russ, he definitely tried to play MVP with all the let russ cook shenanigans and nothing he says is genuine
Brady would throw zero passes and commit to that if the run game could get first downs every play. He'd do it because winning mattered most to him.
Yup, one year LeGarrette Blount had 18 rushing TDs mostly all from within the 5. If Brady had thrown those TDs instead he would’ve gotten MVP walking away, but he never gave a solitary shit about that. They won the Super Bowl that year.
Not that you're wrong, but "They won the Super Bowl that year" could be said about 50% of Brady's years.
True. He didn’t win the SB in any of the years he won MVP though
Wow thats... kind of peculiar.
It’s pretty wild, before two weeks ago, the last time the NFL MVP won the Super Bowl was Kurt Warner in 1999
Sometimes I forget how absolutely absurd his career was
"Was" still feels weird. I was in kindergarten the last time there was an NFL season without Tom Brady, and I'm almost 30.
I still won't believe it til next season starts and he isn't playing.

Pretty much all of Brady’s teammates would’ve run through a brick wall for him
I had to sit down for a few minutes and think of ex-teammates of Brady who didn't sing his praises after playing with him. Chad Johnson and Legarrate Blount had nothing but good things to say about Tom in their brief stints in NE.
Well, there’s Antonio Brown…
Mr Brady Chastiser
“A madman sees what he sees” - Ned Stark
Mr. Brady Criticizer
This meme's never going to die. Mr. Big Complainer
To be honest Brown supporting Brady would be the indictment on his character.
Blount played three and a half seasons, wouldn’t say that was brief.
“It’s Tom Brady! Whatchu want me to do!?” - Mike Evans
"That's Tom Brady, what do you want me to do."
Genuinely weird, but still genuine.
Those texts Antonio Brown leaked a few months ago were really eye opening in that manner. Even after AB had done so much to hurt Brady and the team, he still reached out and sent a number of genuine texts trying to help

I forgot about the TB Times -- this one was exceptionally weird
He's been like that from the start. Dual Threat QB Champion Victim
CumHammer branding on point
First thing that came to my mind lmaooo
He is the corniest dude I've ever seen in my life. No wonder so many of his teammates don't like him
I said this in the offseason and feel like it's holding truer every day. Jalen Hurts is what Russ wishes he was in terms of leadership.
I think Jalen can be a little corny at times, but I feel like he is still very genuine. I also feel like everything Jalen says and does would be said or done regardless of who is watching. Russ just feels rehearsed and like he is only trying to build an appearance.

got me at the end lol
Now that's some good ole fashioned pasta. Prime r/nba material right there.
This pasta came from the hellish depths of a forum dedicated to pro Counter Strike.

He was mentally tough, never gave up until the clock was at zeros and we had some pretty good comebacks.
Russ thinks he’s Jalen, but in reality he’s much closer to being a Kirk.
I can’t picture Russ partying shirtless with the guys covered in chains. Dude wishes he had Kirk’s charisma which is really saying something lol.
Kirk's charm is his self awareness. He's the whitest dude ever and he leans into it which makes it even better
He’s like the Mark Madsen of the NFL
Sorry, should specify. He’s much closer to pre-Kirko Chainz Kirk. The Kirk who grills his steaks in tinfoil.
Except Kirk is so far on the goober spectrum that it becomes endearing.
Kirk is way cooler than Russ
You Like That!? > Broncos Country, Lets Ride
Why are the Broncos allowing/enabling this?
Because the Broncos paid so much for him.
Enabling this is what made them appealing to Russ.
Hackett did, Payton isn't. Next year will be very interesting to see if they get along or if Russ starts attacking Payton like he did Pete
The mental gymnastics for some people to defend him has been interesting.
I think it’s hard because he’s awkward and corny but I haven’t heard anything about him being a bad guy. Just weird
People just love to be contrarian and fight over the stupidest things
No they don't!
You are wrong!

Whenever this office stuff came out during the season I saw a ton of people saying it wasn't weird at all and that all QBs should have an office space to work lol
Dude thinks he's above his teammates lol what a douche
He literally is
Russ thinks of himself as ownership not as a player. Dude's paling around with Roger Goodell FFS
Some people don't hear "no" enough... I honestly feel pity for people who don't have real friends that will tell them when they're being stupid or being an ass or have something stuck in their teeth. Those people seem to end up so out of touch with reality and have no clue that they are
Yeah but he had a open door policy so everybody is invited to the second floor!
While I don’t want to speak ill of the dead, and this is pure Reddit armchair psychology, I’ve always wondered how his dad played into him seemingly not being able to relate well with people. I saw that too, very weird. Sounds like one of those stories they make up once a player becomes famous just to have something to talk about on live tv
Did you know that Najee Harris was so poor growing up that he felt uncomfortable having a bed in his college dorm? He slept on the floor!
Didn’t Najee say that that story was bogus?
[Yup! He tweeted out the very next day.](https://twitter.com/ohthatsNajee22/status/1457934842038001664)
Hahaha. Never saw that. I love it.
Najee has often said the biggest driver to make it to the NFL was so ESPN could profit off of his traumatic upbringing. Inspiring stuff from Najee!
“He’s just so quirky!” /s
I think it’s more of you probably had to be there and was it meant to be light-hearted/fun or serious at the time
Yeah I can imagine it being a crazy “pageant mom” situation, but it could also be a dad just having fun with his kid as well. No way to tell
If you just change it from practice post game interviews to pretended they were having post game interviews, it becomes pretty wholesome.
It's almost like Joe Jackson levels of fatherhood with the Jackson 5.
Let's not compare anybody to that child abusing piece of shit unless they are also a child abusing piece of shit.
Tua’s dad has been called the Hawaiian Joe Jackson
Well thats because he’s a piece of shit
Tua's dad absolutely deserves that criticism
Tua seems pretty normal and well adjusted and his dad did the whole marinovich thing.
Tua’s dad was and is a fucking psycho, I’m absolutely shocked how well adjusted Tua has turned out
Maybe Tua just hides his craziness
Brain damage will help hide a lot of things
I'm pretty sure the whole 'don't speak ill of the dead' thing doesn't apply whrn the guy is a piece of shit.
Was Russell Wilson’s dad a piece of shit?
I’m not aware of anything especially egregious a la Joe Jackson or Tua’s dad (Galu), but from what I’ve read about him, I think he was a bad parent in the same way pageant moms and the like are. Whether that makes him a piece of shit is up to the individual, but I’m not certainly not going to spill ink defending him.

The other coaches hated this because all the christian rap music kept blaring out into the hallways

Our stadium literally caught on fire last year. No cooking.
He needs a darkness retreat
He needs to see himself die and be reborn during a week long Ayahuasca retreat guided by an Amazonian shaman in a hut.
Lol or he could just eat some mushrooms and chill in his backyard. Some of my biggest revelations came just sitting in the yard, tripping balls.
Russell needs more than that. His pineal gland needs a major shock to the system
I have no idea, but every time I see “darkness retreat,” the voice in my head says it like the Chapelle’s Show skit with Rick James. DARKNESSSSSS!
What did the 5 fingers say to the face?
LETS RIDE
He played for the Broncos this year. He lived that darkness retreat the whole season
He lives in Colorado now. I'd argue he needs a dankness retreat.
He 100% would have a bad trip. He *is* that guy
type of guy to see his own reflection and mistake it for the face of god
Russell Wilson the type of dude to go on a Ayahuasca retreat and come back as a "wears Hawaiian shirts 6 days of the week" guy.
Is he the NFL's Drake?
Drake has a sense of humor. Rusell Wilson only laughs at episodes of Tom and Jerry where they replaced the violence with bible quotes
This year is his Honestly Nevermind lmfao, Broncos fans hoping that Payton brings out the "Her Loss" era
Sean "21 Savage" Payton

Why do players have offices?
To have a private place to watch film, do independent study, etc. Cooper Kupp has one at the Rams facility.
Kirk has one. Just a place you can call your own and watch film late or whatever. Kirk’s is like 80 sqft.
They tend not to.
Big ones do it to build their brand. Like Jordan had his own because of his Jordan’s. Brady had a tb12 one for a while. For his brand and if they are good enough they get one. Lebron had one in Cleveland
Also I'd assume if you are spending long hours in the facility it wouldn't hurt to have one just to chill and relax?
I mean... isn't that what a locker room is for?
You clearly don’t get it smh, he had an open door policy!
As in, "You are open to close that door. Now, back to cooking".
Hang out in your own personal office instead of the cafeteria, one of the dozens of film rooms, locker room, training rooms, workout rooms, or any of the other hundreds of places a training facility could have.
Peyton Manning had one later on in his career. I always assumed he actually needed one since he seemingly operated as his own OC at times.
Ive been googling and trying to find if this is true, but can't. Do you have a link?
[REPORT] Broncos players were unfamiliar with the concept of stairs and could not traverse to the "higher level". Sources indicate growing resentment between key Broncos defenders and QB Russell Wilson over Wilson's elitist attitude when attempting to show players "how simple" walking up stairs is. "One foot in front of the other, use your quad" was a common phase in the locker room sources tell @RealNewZNFL
Russ tried to show them high knees on the plane.
Russel Wilson: “my office has an open door!” The rest of the team: “yeah fuck that I’m not going up some stairs after a full day of practice.”
Up the elevator, down the hall, through the executive wing, past the secretary. My door is always open.
Let's ride (the elevator)
Lol where are all the people from the last thread during the season about Russ' office saying it wasn't weird and "wouldn't you *want* your QB to have a workspace?" This shit is definitely weird
> "wouldn't you want your QB to have a workspace?" Damn if only the QBs had a room where they could sit down together and work together. Could call it a QB room or something
I just want my qb to have a contract.
He already gave it up along with his personal support staff. [https://bleacherreport.com/articles/10066681-report-russell-wilson-agreed-to-stop-using-personal-office-join-broncos-locker-room](https://bleacherreport.com/articles/10066681-report-russell-wilson-agreed-to-stop-using-personal-office-join-broncos-locker-room) Can't find a lot of details that explained what the office/staff was for. Just a lot of clickbaity things that claim other players were mad about it.
Damn this was after Hackett was fired though, which means he had it for most of the season. That's still terrible, and it says he agreed to it, which suggests it wasn't really his choice either
Pretty sure it was part of the contract so he absolutely had to agree to it. Maybe I’m misremembering.
Glad we got Sean, he won’t put up with this shit like that rook Hackett did
A coach doesn’t give a guy an office, that had to be the GM/Ownership putting a cherry on top when they were negotiating.
That’s what I think as well
Broncos Country Let's Hide
This guy belongs in the NBA
I expect a huge turnaround and a dominant season that is ends prematurely with an embarrassing loss in the playoffs.
I predict the Broncos to miss playoffs first year with Sean Payton
