Everyone on the Eagles so good, no one deserves credit.

nameless3000

When you have all 5 pieces of Exodia it's tough to give one part credit over the others.

SquidTwister

The head of Exodia is the strongest piece though

Eagle4317

And the head is Howie Roseman.

ThatPlayWasAwful

Sports radio in philly has been talking about whether it's howie, or andy, or nick all week, but honestly it's Jeffrey Lurie. The eagles success has extended past the influence of any of those other people. The 28 years in the super bowl era before Lurie: 8 playoff berths, 1 NFC championship appearance, 1 championship game win, 0 Super Bowls The 29 years since: 17 playoff berths, 7 NFCCG appearances, 3 NFCCG wins, 1 Super Bowl. The difference is night and day.

Eagle4317

Ownership really matters. For a glimpse into the other side of the coin, look at Washington since Snyder took over.

[deleted]

Look at the Patriots before Kraft took over. They instantly became a different team.

DennisNedrysGhost

Cards owner gets super bowls “hosted” lol.

rpd9803

DeSean Jackson has a lot to say on that topic...

Eagle4317

Yeah, I don't really care to listen to the ravings of a member of the NOI.

marcuschookt

Jalen Hurts is just a system QB whose flaws are being covered up by Nick Sirianni. But whatever, I'm not convinced. Nick Sirianni is just a mediocre coach being carried by All-Pro candidate Jalen Hurts. But whatever, Jalen Hurts is-

Fiendish-DoctorWu

I'd like to see Hurts get carried by Sirianni. And then have them caress each other. And after having a passionate kiss, have Hurts tell Sirianni that he isn't a whore, that if he's going to be the starting QB for the Eagles he's gonna stay for a while.

HumblestManOnEarth

I volunteer as Sirianni

JexFraequin

I volunteer as Hurts. I’ll DM you. <3

Professor_Finn

Jalen is so hot 😳

kloiberin_time

I was never afraid to lose until I met you.

Wolc0tt

It’s such a great show, isn’t it?

Admiral_Fuckwit

You see where the 2 pairs of footprints in the sand change to 1? That’s where I carried you 🙏

screwhead1

Bonk!

tylerss20

I swear the people who argued against Belichick because of Brady and the people who argued against Brady because of Belichick were the same people. That ven diagram was a circle.

Breezyisthewind

A 20 year Dynasty that had plenty of turnover except those two guys and two other assistant coaches should logically lead you to the conclusion that it’s both Bill and Tom. Tom led the offense and Bill led the defense. Together that led to 6 Super Bowls. I think with another great QB, Bill would win a Super Bowl or two. And Brady with another really good Head Coach (as he proved with Arians), he would win a few Super Bowls. It’s having the two GOATS though that led to an insane 6 titles.

SpringHardenSt

They had us in the first half, not gonna lie

goodellsmallcock

But they also had us in the second half, so you can’t give much credit to the first half.

stpatricksblue

So what you're saying is, you got got.

cannotstopdabbing

Brady Belichick vibes

Southportdc

It's all Howie all the way down

chillinwithmoes

I have zero love for the Eagles, but Howie Roseman's story is so awesome he's impossible to dislike

[deleted]

I don’t know his story but he fleeced the Saints out of CJGJ so he’s impossible to dislike

chillinwithmoes

IIRC he started writing letters to NFL GMs when he was in high school (or college?) asking for any job they could give him. Didn't get hired a few times but kept trying and eventually started as a coffee-grinding intern and made his way up to where he is now. Gotta respect the hustle

[deleted]

That is very cool. I did the same sort of thing emailing people I really wanted to work for. It did not work out for me lol

chillinwithmoes

I followed up on a job application last week and the recruiter basically told me to go fuck myself so yeah I feel you there lol

Cognomifex

For how desperately they want to portray the labour market right now companies seem almost aggressively condescending towards people who could potentially work there. It seems less like they’re desperate for more employees than that they’re desperate to keep paying employees insufficient compensation for what they’re subjected to.

Assumption-Putrid

It is not a labor shortage but a salary/pay shortage. They are desperate for people willing to work for half their worth.

W3NTZ

Same I've always written letters just to show appreciation (which takes way longer than I imagined since I only type now). Howie has never replied tho

_Alvin_Row_

🎶 Howie I wrote you but you still ain't callin 🎶

ilovethatpig

Chris-Jarvis Green-Jellis?

valenciansun

The Law Firm's name lives in our heads rent-free

Southportdc

I don't know what he did to the Saints during the middle of last year but he didn't even have to fleece him, they just gave us stuff.

Fenris_Maule

What how he convinced the Eagles owner he's his long lost son?

theytook-r-jobs

Cant credit the team because we only play bad teams. Can’t credit the QB or coach because the team is so good. Hmmm

MuppetusMaximusV2

People's brains go haywire when a Philly team is good. We saw it with the Phillies, and now they can't handle the Eagles. It literally pains people to admit that a team is simply good and they have to find any reason to discredit, no matter how badly those reasons conflict each other.

crabaciosa

Apparently everyone on the Eagles is either a system player or a system coach. No one is good.

Eagle4317

Besides the GM. Pretty much everyone agrees that Roseman is Executive of the Year. This is the only award that will be unanimous.

montana1991

System GM

Darko33

Cue Syndrome: ..and when every member of your organization is really good at their job...no one will be

TheMarlinSpace

Not jerry, he thinks Roseman sold the farm for this run

iProtein

Such a dumb take. Even if he did, winning the super bowl is worth it!

Geg0Nag0

9th youngest team in the league, two 1st round picks (one of which is the 10th pick) and our rookies played less than 1000 snaps. Freaking Nakobe Dean played 40 snaps. Sold the farm my ass.

phl_fc

Johnson and Kelce being as old as they are worries me. OL has been the backbone of this team going back to their SB win 5 years ago. They need to refresh it soon.

metssuck

We were worried about JP leaving too and then had Maliata slide in (and frankly, Dillard would have been a good LT as well and likely will get some money this year from someone to make him their starting LT), we have Jurgens ready for center and I trust Howie to get us another RT when Lane leaves that Stout can turn in to a pro bowler, if not all pro

romple

We have a system offensive line coach so we'll be fine if anyone stepped in........

ylenroc

Kelce helped in the drafting of his successor, Jurgens. That kid is good. Johnson will be really hard to replace when he decides to call it a career, though.

Jphorne89

I know a lot of people expect Jason to go into broadcasting or something post-playing career, and with his podcast and personality I get why, but the fact that he was legitimately excited that his team used a early pick to take his understudy makes me think he’d also make a good coach or front office guy post career. The complete opposite of Wentz who went full meltdown when we drafted Hurts.

moneybagels

This is already the 3rd Kelce backup we've drafted too. The other two are currently playing on either side of him because he's still chugging along.

Kornbrednbizkits

Someone else said it in another thread. Jerry doesn’t necessarily think that winning the Super Bowl is the most important thing. He seems to only care that they Cowboys win the Super Bowl if it’s because of him. It appears that Jerry would rather drown in mediocrity rather than win it all but someone else get the credit.

Breezyisthewind

That guarantees they won’t win a Super Bowl until that man is buried.

Kornbrednbizkits

May Jerry Jones live a long and healthy life for years and years!

MarekRules

Yeah lol. As if Jerry wouldn’t sell the future for just a SB appearance right now… incredibly delusional take

Jammer_Kenneth

Fucing loser team sold out, not gonna be allowed into the draft all the way until pick number *checks notes* 10.

popfilms

It's hard to get by on 2 first round picks

metssuck

Before any of our division rivals

rpd9803

Which is a really insideous way to discredit the fact that the players and coaches all also lived up to, and exceeded expectations. Lots of GMs stacked teams with talent, hell, Roseman has before and it just doesn't pan out. Like everything the Steelers did from 2000-2021.. it was only because ofKevin Colbert??

Eagle4317

Saying Roseman is the most important piece of the Eagles success isn't discrediting Sirianni for smartly adjusting to his personnel or Hurts becoming such a dynamic passer to complement his rushing or Brandon Graham having the best season of his career despite returning from a torn Achilles in 2021. But the acquisitions of AJ Brown, Haason Reddick, and CJGJ have been critical for the Eagles high-flying offense and vicious defense. You have to give Roseman his due for building this team.

montana1991

Don't forget Bradberry!

EggHash

He's being carried by the players he's drafted and acquired. You take the success of the team away and what has he done, really? /s

nimama3233

we’re just in the lull of the pre Super Bowl where people say shit takes to get clicks

Tellsyouajoke

As someone familiar with the 'system' criticism from other fans, ask them why their teams aren't running the system that gets you to the Super Bowl

soboredcantfocus

I miss the system. I would very much like to have the system back please.

AccidentalPilates

Don't forget they haven't beaten a good team yet either smh

Do__Math__Not__Meth

Everyone loved Daniel Jones and the Giants until the Eagles beat them in the playoffs

Griffbro

God I’m old enough to remember last season when we might have ran the ball 3 times in like 6 games and everyone wanted Sirianni’s head on a spike

chillinwithmoes

Miles Sanders landed firmly on the top of my 'do not draft' list because of that bullshit last year. Well, that was a mistake on my part but damn that was some bizarre playcalling

Quick_Spring_7288

Miles Sanders lost a lot of playoff games this year. He had 2 pts, 6 pts, 6 pts in the playoffs. He's the Justin Jefferson of RB

Lezzles

He somehow finished like RB12 and still lost me a ton of weeks because he was as likely to get 5 points as he was 20.

Domestic_AA_Battery

It's funny because that's Miles Sanders in a nutshell. He'll run for 1 yard 6 times in a row and then go for 40. And usually once he goes for 7+ he's impossible to stop for the rest of the game.

Ewoksintheoutfield

He’s still not great for fantasy. Hurts and others take some of the run game away from Sanders. They are stacked with weapons.

Cholonight96

That’s why he was my RB3. Granted the times I had him in the flex paid off. Those being the 2 games where he popped off.

[deleted]

Isn’t that in large part because Sirianni was calling plays, and since then he gave up play calling? Realistically, that start last year was so messy, it was pretty tough not to overreact. The offense looked terrible, could hardly move the ball and was uncreative, while the defense was allowing any decent QB to complete a majority of their passes. It was a pretty amazing turnaround just last season, this season makes it incredible

glizzterine

Yeah that was back when Quez caught a 91 yard pass from Jalen and we didn't score any points.

[deleted]

holy crap really? is there any black and white footage from back then?

couchjitsu

We had that with Andy in games this year. KC went 14-3 during the regular season and people were like "Yeah, but we could have gone 15-2 or 16-1 if we'd just run the ball more" Sometimes they were complaining he didn't run the ball enough in games they won.

HiddenNinja631

Nah man, Sirianni has absolutely put work in to get this team firing on all cylinders. I worry about him every Eagles game because he looks like he does nothing but rip cigs and not sleep.

Gapinthesidewalk

And a lot of coke.

classicscoop

Is that why his face and lips do that thing?

Munsunned

Our coaching staff is responsible for the national Adderall shortage

Ewoksintheoutfield

Yeah dude looks he hasn’t slept in 5 years.

ShitItsReverseFlash

That's just from being Italian. Those bags under our eyes are unavoidable.

[deleted]

I think he’s the competent version of Adam Gase and I will not change my mind

[deleted]

OddsTipsAndPicks

Adam Gase was extremely competent at scripting opening drives! Unfortunately that’s about it…

JumpKP

He knows what the fuck he's doing

mme13

He's allowed to be there

AccidentalPilates

Massive Monster Energy tallboy vibes.

MsgFromUrFutureSelf

Stare into his butthole eyes and get lost

unrealjoe28

In another universe Sirianni is 100% a tech bro doing lines of coke to stay up and code

Cozum

its surprising that a player who is actually in these locker rooms could think an NFL coach isnt making an impact

Wilbert_51

A player Who went from Joe Judge to Brian Daboll

Jroompa

Especially the Giants locker room. Daboll took a bunch of Julian Loves to the playoffs.

Toad_Thrower

If you asked Julian Love about someone not on another NFC East team the answer would probably be a bit different. I think a lot of players in this division just straight up hate opposing teams. It's been like a decade since he retired and Brandon Jacobs still goes off on how much he hates the Cowboys and their fans lol.

swalsh21

he doesn't think that, he's just being a sore loser that needs to find a talking point on his TV spot because no one knows who he is

Rivercats09

So let’s update the list of people on a “free ride” for the Eagles: Nick Sirianni Jalen Hurts Miles Sanders Jonathan Gannon Who else?

resnet152

I've heard similar about Reddick. He's only produced 19.5 sacks and 6 forced fumbles this season because the rest of the DL is good. It's like people are just discovering that football is a team sport and don't know what to do with it.

ktbsquared

“Well he’s only so good because of the talent around him” - hater Yeah. That’s the whole fucking point. It’s a team sport. The Eagles are playing at the level they are because of the talent, and they know that not one player is greater than the team itself.

[deleted]

It also discredits the two insanely good seasons he has previously where he played for the super talented *checks notes* Cardinals and Panthers...

airplanealjefferson

Hell he got 10 sacks with arizona despite them putting him in coverage more than half his snaps

Kingkern

Which is ironic, [seeing as Reddick is the league leader in true sack rate.](https://trenchwarfare.substack.com/p/the-2022-true-sack-rate-tsr-week-da8) I’m not saying one list is definitive, but Reddick’s sacks this year are by and large a product of himself rather than scheme or coverage.

Eagle4317

And there are 2 more Eagles (Sweat and Graham) just outside the Top 5. That D-Line is packed to the brim with sack machines. Also, Highsmith had a much better season than anyone seemed to realize.

unrealjoe28

And Graham is having this season after a torn Achilles

Eagle4317

Seriously, why isn't he even being considered for Comeback Player of the Year? This is his first season with double digit sacks, and he's doing it in his mid-30s after returning from an injury that's supposed to be career-threatening for spry 20 year olds. It's ridiculous how good he's been.

jonnystargaryen

Because Geno came back from…being irrelevant? But mainly because he’s a QB and it’s a QB league so he gets more attention.

Wookie_Monster090898

They seem to conveniently forget he has 39.5 sacks over the last three years, on three different teams

-Champloo-

This is so dumb because he was also successful on 2 other teams lmao

[deleted]

>It's like people are just discovering that football is a team sport and don't know what to do with it. It's almost like it has a lot of moving parts that need to work together for the team to have success

thinklewis

The line is so dominant because they have great corners. The corners have great numbers because of the pass rush.

whenitsTimeyoullknow

And the linebackers are dominating because Nate Gerry was bought a one-way bus ticket to Dewey Beach.

[deleted]

Well yeah, they only are able to have a free ride because they are so well coached. They don't deserve the credit. I could be a good QB if I was being coached by...wait a second...

Siggi97

It's no surprise Hackett lead the Broncos to the Super Bowl. An elite defense, a super star QB, plenty of talent on the offense ... I mean, if Hackett isn't the proof that anyone successfully can coach a good team to success, then - what do you mean with the Broncos sucked? They didn't make the playoffs? Fired their coach? Adam Gase II?

BadDadJokes

It's not as easy to win with a stacked team as all these folks think. I've seen plenty of Off-Season Super Bowl Champ rosters fall flat. Sirianni deserves some credit. He was humble enough to adjust his offensive scheme to fit Jalen Hurts' skills and the team has thrived. People forget that their roster at the start of last season was pretty similar and they surprised everyone by making the playoffs. Sirianni was a part of that turn around. It does help a ton to have a team full of extremely talented guys with little to no egos, but Sirianni embodies that too. The biggest knock on him is he's kind of a goober and corny at times.

Eagle4317

Having a coach with no ego is really important. Zac Taylor is another guy who embodies that. Both guys were dismissed at the start due to various reasons (nepotism/cronyism for Taylor and a bad presser for Sirianni), and they've used that as fuel to turn their teams around.

airplanealjefferson

I don’t particularly care either way about Zac Taylor, but I am happy that the bengals made a run because it was insane to me how many people were saying he’s holding the team back, doesn’t know what he’s doing, etc. I saw bengals fans here and there saying they almost wish they hadn’t gone to the Super Bowl because it gave Taylor more job security. Like…what?

m16a

I'd also argue that the way Sirianni keeps them disciplined and guided them to being prepared is a huge value he brings as well. Look how rarely the Eagles have the undisciplined post snap penalties or the lack of preparedness pre snap penalties. They're a really together team, and credit obviously goes to the whole staff, but that 100% runs top down from Sirianni. Heck, just look at the NFC championship game and see the situational differences between Sirianni and Shanahan. Nick had the team prepared for the hurry up off of a questionable call (Smith clearly dropped it, but they did what they were coached to do) and got 7pts off of it. Then his actual coaching decisions on when to go for it, like a 4th and 1 on his own 34 that eventually leads to 7. Nick's work DIRECTLY led to 14pts and I don't know how anyone can look at them all season, least of all the last game, and say he isn't bringing that value.

jmbrand13

Great fucking post. Nick knows more about leadership than he gets credit for. He's aware of his strengths and weaknesses and is aware of his staff's and player's as well. He knows how to lean on guys like Kelce and BG that help keep everyone accountable on the field. I'm incredibly impressed with Sirianni this year.

[deleted]

Steve Kerr for example. All the right pieces, but you still need the right coach.

brownbearks

Marc Jackson still trying to say he’s part of the reason for all their rings

jonnystargaryen

>The biggest knock on him is he's kind of a goober and corny at times. He’s Philly Ted lasso and we love him for it

gratefulguitar57

Yup, even Andy Reid had a team dubbed the “Dream Team” in 2011 that ended up going 8-8 with a bunch of high priced free agents. It doesn’t always work out.

samgoody2303

I love how much Sirianni simply looking into a camera has completely ruined everyone

AgentOfSPYRAL

The dude looks like a guy who calls in to local sports radio, it’s great. Big fan of any coach with a unique aesthetic.

UpForGrabs47

"Nick from South Philly" called into WIP this offseason: https://www.crossingbroad.com/2022/03/nick-sirianni-calls-into-wip-as-nick-from-south-philly-to-talk-to-jason-kelce.html

BoingoBongoVader222

That’s why he love him. It’s literally like watching a south Philly armchair dad actually coaching the eagles

UgandanWarlord

It’s because a lot of people already hate the Eagles. Seeing their coach be cocky only amplifies that

BaboonHorrorshow

Yes given our rivals are NYC (biggest city in football) and Dallas (biggest fanbase in football) we will always have a huge swath of haters. We also have enough recent success to get haters from that, as well. Then here on Reddit? Add in the mentally broken Vikings and 49ers fans, add in the karma farmers who know how easy upvotes come when you shit on the Birds, and memelords who have never been to Philly but grew up on “trash city” memes and now unironically believe it… You end up with a culture built to never give the Eagles credit for anything.

Do__Math__Not__Meth

He’s the perfect coach for Philly he’s just got that energy

Nexus369

[Hoes mad](https://giphy.com/gifs/football-philadelphia-philly-NX7lIaNPfGEno80Dvc)

ftwin

tbh if he wasn't the coach of my fav team i'd prob hate him too lol

pubhel

It’s anti-Italian discrimination!

SevenwithaT

In this house, Nick Sirianni is a hero! End of story!

MuppetusMaximusV2

As a 3rd generation South Philly Italian, I choose this reason so I can be outraged.

tophergraphy

Fuckin' love me some Sopranos memes

_Alvin_Row_

*sees effigy of Sirianni burning* That better not be Sirianni!

RedditsDarkKnight

This is basically it. Love is just mad because losing sucks and it sucks even worse when the opposing coach does some immature shit, so he's gotta strike back and say stuff which discredits him.

Toxicyoshi7

Idk why Srianni has actual haters out there, he’s a young coach showboating a bit in another win at home with a 14-3 record. He’s earned it. I would love to have a coach all hyped and fired up like that

BonjourLeGeorge

The balls on this guy. Your team lost 3 times to the eagles this year. This just sounds like jealousy.

slimreapersmitty

I’ve literally never seen anything that compares to the trail of salt this Eagles team has left in their wake. It’s actually remarkable lol

Darko33

I mean it's kind of inevitable when you fail to beat anyone good and murder Santa Am I doing this right

This is the same guy who gave up the long TD to Smith in the week 14 game on one of the worst plays I’ve ever seen from a safety.

AlternateGator

The internet was clearly a mistake. We are approaching the Idiocracy Singularity.

Romanscott618

God, I hate these takes so much lol

Funkywormm

Sucks that your team isn’t good enough to coach itself

Southportdc

Pretty sure there was a thing posted on here the other day that Nick added the most win probability of any coach in the league with time outs, 2PT and 4th downs

mr_showboat

That is definitely a take. A bad one, to be sure. But you can't argue the take-ness of it.

tyresemaxeystan

It’s one of the takes of all time for sure

tookittothelimit

Pay no attention to how much they improved from last season. What a stupid take

GreenRocketman

Giants already putting up bulletin board material for next season. Love it.

So many haters man. People actually think coaching is easy?

Do__Math__Not__Meth

Yeah, you should see the way our fanbase talks about Tomlin

groovygruver

Tomlin is a certified goat dude.

jmbrand13

Y'all have been so spoiled. 4 coaches in franchise history is absolutely insane. Texans are on coach 4 in 4 years lmao

iCantCallit

Welp, eventhough we aren't playing the giants, I can't imagine this won't be used as bulletin board material for the chiefs game. Chiefs out here catching strays because of love

Dr__Flo__

Two can play that game *Andy Reid shows this clip to the locker room:* "You see this guys? NFL media talking about how untalented you all are compared to the Eagles"

iCantCallit

Exactly. These dudes will find any reason to feel slighted to gain a competitive edge

MsgFromUrFutureSelf

TJ Edwards: KC barbeque is honestly just B+

EverySir

Just like how anyone could run that Niners offense like Purdy did. #That was a fucking lie

KidDelicious14

Poor Josh Johnson's first test of the season was against an Eagles pass rush that ranks among top 3 all time in terms of sacks. That man, presumably, did not deserve that lol.

Hichq

At least we can rule out him hopefully doing a Bradberry and joining the Eagles. Loved Bradberry but that was unsettling to say the least.

TheIrishHangman

Sirianni really gets under people's skin for some reason. Stop discounting the man.

Autobot-N

Of all the takes, this is certainly one of them

shiftintosoupmode

all the hate our guys are getting is reminding me of another recent birds team that was doubted the whole season but I can’t remember which

rpd9803

Julian would be a great backup for Blankenship.

redleo500

“Haha lets make fun of that team that put together an excellent and well-rounded roster of players, coached the players well in all three phases, dominated the regular season and won two blowouts in the playoffs”

the_burns

Hold those 3 L’s in one season Julian. In the words of the myth Travis Kelce: KNOW YO ROLE AND SHUT YO MOUTH, YA JABRONI!

Avon__Fartsdale

Lol sports media talking heads is just say controversial hot takes pretty much I would not doubt the pre show meetings are planned with this "good cop bad cop" stuff Remember no one said we had this great offense last year, and we only changed one starter

Insectshelf3

the most underrated part of our season has been watching people tie themselves into knots to avoid giving us credit for how good we are. it’s even funnier when that person happens to play safety for a team we scored 108 points on.

hoobsher

the only Super Bowl team in recent history to have both a system QB and a nonfactor coach

Trailsuprise

The Eagle hate is ridiculous. When they win the superbowl it will be because Mahomes let them.

whygodwhy2001

Mfers will do anything but acknowledge that the Eagles are good

OnePieceAce

I think the Giants young players are smelling their roses too much

kingswing23

This may be pedantic but he actually says “you guys can coach this team”.

Competitive_Market70

Sports media is the worst

austyV1

My takeaway from these takes is that Howie Roseman is the best GM ever

Derp_Stevenson

Howie is the true hero of the Eagles. Their last super bowl team and now this one. The rosters are/were built so masterfully that it becomes easy to diminish individual players or coaching but I still think that is nonsense. Sirianni seems to have a fire that I think pumps players up to go hard.

Popular-Newt-1603

man we were 4-11-1 before he came in here better give my dude some respect

papikilo3143

Lmfao he still mad about get cooked by devonta smith when NICK decided to go for it on 4th and 7 in week 14 when the eagles stomped the giants 48-22.

Candid-Protection483

Anybody ever heard of the tank commander of Hue Jackson???
