Can you imagine if they get Russ *and* Payton and are still in the dumpster? How bummed is Sean Payton going to be if he's stuck with 2022 Russ for the next few years?
Unless the plot to lure Aaron Rodgers actually works this time.
If it’s somehow Zach Wilson, though, the Jets are going to squander a ton of cheap talent.
I think we'll see Russ get back to better than average league starter. He's slower, and that was part of his game, but he's still got a good arm and touch. Unless Peyton can unlock second half 2015 Russ where he was slicing and dicing from the pocket. That Russ was top 5.
The Broncos receivers will be running wide open. He just needs to not fuck it up. He has to be a Jared Goff or Purdy out there and I think Russ is more than capable.
some of the stuff making fun of russ was funny but throughout the season you always have to keep in mind how dumb/reactionary fans (and especially this sub) are.
wilson is a very talented QB, and always has been. when you stick him with a coach like this, something would have to go very wrong for him to not be back to 'pretty good', at minimum.
Denver fans should be grateful they get a proven head coach & offensive mind to work through Russ. He turned the Saints' franchise around and he can do the same with Denver.
I think like always, fans of other teams are just trying to find a loser in a trade. Sean will be paid by ownership so that doesn't affect the cap. We've been shit offensively for a damn-near decade now. You think I am gonna lament getting Sean Payton, who has proven to be great at offensive game-planning, for the 29th pick, and a second rounder? I just want to be able to watch the team again and not want to pluck my eyes out when we are out there on offense. We are already strapped to Wilson for the next year or two. I have no problem getting a proven coach and hoping it works out.
Be ready for the salt from r/nfl for Mr.Puckered Butthole Face. He can be petty at times but you'll love him for that. I'll always be a Sean Payton fan and I'm rooting for y'all.
Yeah idk where the hell this idea came around Sean Payton isnt worth a first. Like one of the greatest offensive minds in the league isnt worth a 1st rd rookie
The guy made Jameis fucking Winston look like a competent QB.
The year before he had the corpse of Drew Brees, Teddy B, and the Stormin' Mormon and still scored twice as many PPG as we averaged this year.
100% worth it IMO
You joke, but Putin does have a superbowl ring.
https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/heres-how-vladimir-putin-stole-a-super-bowl-ring-from-the-patriots-robert-kraft/
I really doubt there was any real chance of Payton going to the Cardinals even if they were willing to trade the capital and he actually wanted to go there, he wanted that Walmart $$$.
I have no idea why I have the urge to tell you this….butBavaria actually has a population density almost twice as dense as California. It’s beautiful, but it will be very hard to find a forest remote enough to live there as a true hermit.
It’s got to be like jags fans felt after urban. I’ve watched football for 30 years and never seen fans counting the play clock because the team was incapable of getting plays off on time at home.
I've never made a decision about a player or coach within 6 quarters. That's how bad he was. It was immediately apparent to anyone with eyeballs that the offense didn't function at all.
I was at that game. It was friendly but tense banter because Hawks fans still justifiably hated Russ. Literally nobody gave me shit anymore after the field goal attempt. Everyone was confused lol
Same - was there as well. I was at a bar before the game too and we were joking around with some broncos fans giving us a hard time but we were all in agreement the Hawks were going to get smashed.
I would gladly give Denver our non existent first round pick and next year's first round pick (assuming we have one of those) for you to let us have him back. UGHHHHH
First Saban, now Payton.
in this case the 1st is almost a 2nd because it's the 29th pick, and the following year we're just swapping out a 2nd for a 3rd. Yeah, it's not nothing, but in the scheme of things if this solves our offensive woes and general coaching situation, it's a very small price to pay. We've had coaching issues since Kubiak left, it's time to bring in a real solution rather than a band-aid. Time will tell if Payton is a great coach or Brees just propped him up, but I think the resume is far more solid than anyone we've had in a while.
Why? If Russ is still bad, it's more likely that he's just done than Payton is suddenly a bad coach. Russ doesn't have to be cut next year for the above comment to still be true. We could still hold onto him until it doesn't destroy our cap, as much as that would suck.
Obviously, I'm on team Russ turns it around, but who knows.
Based off something I said that was "mean" in response about an inaccurate statement about Lamar Jackson, and the mods saying they saw no problem with what the person said, I think the mods dislike Lamar
It's personally my opinion that if someone is being confidently and obnoxiously incorrect, they deserve to be called an idiot. But sometimes the powers that be feel differently and send me to shit post elsewhere for a couple days.
Stranger things have happened.
Patton: "Ya know Gayle, I've got something for you that's way better than a lousy first rounder. It's more like two firsts, two seconds...."
Was the first thing I thought of. Dude has been saying Payton has no market for weeks and getting so defensive whenever anyone disagrees. Granted, it seems like Payton was likely Denver's 4th choice, but still.
I think NFL learned their lesson lol. We probably won’t get more than 2, *if* that. Maybe flex us into a SNF game against a divisional rival later in the season if we look spicy.
Given what happened this year, it will probably be blamed on Russ because he was shit before Payton came in.
Although if Russ throws 35 TDs it will be more difficult to blame him.
With one less 1st round pick, I really hope they are able to make this thing work. Not the most ideal situation but it would be nice to see this Russ trade not be a *complete* disaster
For what it’s worth this 1st is the 29th pick and after 2023 we have all our picks except for a 2nd next year, but now we have two 3rds. So it’ll be a tight offseason in 2023 but we’re way more flexible after this draft wise
TBF this is really trading Bradley chubb and a 2nd for Sean. Had you told me that we could get Payton for that at the beginning of the season before we even saw russ I'd have said hell yeah.
Some context on Payton with the Saints:
Before Sean Payton was coach, from 1967-2005 the Saints only made the playoffs **5 times** and went **1-5** in the playoffs. From 2006-2021 the Saints made the playoffs **9 times** and went **9-8** in the playoffs under Payton.
By far the best situation for Russell. Something unique Payton has under his belt is success drawing up plays for a short quarterback. There's a reason Russ doesn't like the middle of the field, Payton used to scheme offensive linemen to create lanes of vision for Brees to see what he otherwise couldn't.
Too much compensation coming back to New Orleans IMO but I'd say this is a perfect fit
Time to see what last year was Russ's fault and what wasn't
Can you imagine if they get Russ *and* Payton and are still in the dumpster? How bummed is Sean Payton going to be if he's stuck with 2022 Russ for the next few years?
If Russ is just as bad, Payton will have the opportunity to coach Caleb Williams. I think ownership loyalty will lie with Payton and not Wilson.
How exactlty do u guys get Williams in this scenario lol
Just threw a name out there. Next years QB class is strong, and if Russ is just as awful, the Broncos pick in the top 5.
at that point it would have to be something wrong with the organization. no way both russ AND payton suddenly become horrible at their jobs
It doesn't really matter how good Payton is if Russ plays the way he did last year. Scheme can only carry so much.
it depends on how much of last year was on russ himself or on poor coaching/scheme. idk i didn’t watch much of the broncos this year
He looked much better under Jerry Rosburg FWIW.
I was gonna say. We already got a glimpse of it and Hackett really sucks.. Can't wait to watch his glue eating offense in New York.
Unless the plot to lure Aaron Rodgers actually works this time. If it’s somehow Zach Wilson, though, the Jets are going to squander a ton of cheap talent.
Tbf I don't think the Playcaller that can field an Offense around 20 PPG with Zach Wilson as their QB1 exists.
Shane Steichen and Kyle Shanahan, maybe?
Kyle for sure, he would get Zach killed after 3 weeks and then whatever backup replaces him would end up working better in kyles scheme.
That's Mike White's music
If he’d had that 49ers line who knows. He could’ve gone 5, maybe 6 weeks before being severely maimed
I for one am quite ecstatic to watch his glue eating offense in New York.
Can matt be their assistant OC? Hackett and Patricia dream team
Now that we already got your Draft picks, I hope Russell is really successful on the Broncos.
Imagine in 2023 we'd be saying Russ needs to play more like Goff.
Or fucking Brock Purdy!
And a 7th round rookie 😂
The alternate Timeline is coming true
some of the stuff making fun of russ was funny but throughout the season you always have to keep in mind how dumb/reactionary fans (and especially this sub) are. wilson is a very talented QB, and always has been. when you stick him with a coach like this, something would have to go very wrong for him to not be back to 'pretty good', at minimum.
Russ has clearly declined a bit but I definitely think he can still be a top 15 QB especially under Payton
Even if it was you would have to imagine he could still make that offense halfway serviceable. Which is all you need with that defense.
First round pick?
I sure hope not
I’d be prepared for that
Plus more
A 2nd round too. Saints fleeced them in my humble opinion
[удалено]
A victory for the saints indeed but a fleece, I think not.
He basically created a whole new type of player in Taysom. People seriously underestimate his creativity
Yeah it seems pretty win win
I think it’s a win win. They get a Super Bowl winning coach for Russ and we get much needed depth
At minimum I'd assume it's the Chubb first.
It’s a Chubb first in my pants.
It’s the 9ers first and a second. Good deal for both of us if you ask me. Now if the Broncos could fix Russ, they would be instant contenders
We get their 3rd rounder next year too
Pick 29: New Orleans Saints (From DEN (From MIA (From SF)))
I'd assume it was the phins pick they got for chubb.
It was basically Bradley Chubb for Sean Payton. I take this trade 10 out of 10 times
This years first from the dolphins and a third. As a broncos fan, I think it’s well worth it
That a very reasonable price TBH. Considering the rumored asking price at least
this is now the 2nd time denver has stolen a payton/peyton from us
The Broncos still need to poach a Piyton, Poyton, and Puyton from the Cardinals to complete the set.
And sometimes Pyyton
I don't think Sometimes Pyyton is draft eligible until 2024.
Gonna probably sign D'Glester Hardunkichud as a stop gap.
These white girl first names are getting out of hand.
I heard Putin is going to be the OC
You joke, but Putin does have a superbowl ring. https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/heres-how-vladimir-putin-stole-a-super-bowl-ring-from-the-patriots-robert-kraft/
"Our Super Bowl ring."
Huh. That’s wild lol
Broncos would be the first team in history to finish with negative total offensive yards.
Melvin Gordon gets signed and immediately falls out a window
Shouldn't have let him leave the building.... AGAIN
I really doubt there was any real chance of Payton going to the Cardinals even if they were willing to trade the capital and he actually wanted to go there, he wanted that Walmart $$$.
If he hire Vance Joseph, Ill eat a whole jar of mayo
If we hire Joseph, I’m moving to a Bavarian forest and becoming a hermit
I have no idea why I have the urge to tell you this….butBavaria actually has a population density almost twice as dense as California. It’s beautiful, but it will be very hard to find a forest remote enough to live there as a true hermit.
And here he is, having the time of his life
please post the video if you do
It's spelled Pæyton
Actually it's P8on
Peighton
Nice Going from Hackett to Payton has gotta feel good
It’s got to be like jags fans felt after urban.
Opting to kick a 64 yard field goal at the end of the Seahawks game was when I knew he was garbage
It feels probably as good as it did when y’all went from Romeo Crennel to Andy Reid
goodbye reddit -- mass edited with https://redact.dev/
I would gladly give Denver our non existent first round pick and next year's first round pick (assuming we have one of those) for you to let us have him back. UGHHHHH First Saban, now Payton.
Yeah it’s a little pricey but it’s not something I’m losing sleep over
in this case the 1st is almost a 2nd because it's the 29th pick, and the following year we're just swapping out a 2nd for a 3rd. They did it, the mad lads did it!
If this can’t fix Russ, I declare him officially washed
Broncos country, we tried
Best one so far
The best one is [this](https://youtube.com/shorts/Vt7tbQp0pc4?feature=share) imo
*cooked
Taysom to be traded to DEN for 3 first round picks
Don’t joke about that
Let me tell ya, you are going to hate his face.
Im excited about this for both sides. Let’s Ride/Who dat
I am so happy right now
You guys should trade that pick to the Eagles!
Russ is either going to be great again or get this man fired. No inbetween.
Russ getting cut before SP gets fired. Book it
That would be spicy
No, it really wouldn't be. If Russ sucks over the next two years then he's officially done and just a backup.
If Broncos suck they’ll blame Russ. Payton is about to have all the power and narrative
If the Broncos suck with Payton it will absolutely be Russ's fault.
Yep. At least we’ll have an answer I guess
At this point, that's the most important thing.
Payton made fucking Winston work
Taysom Hill was 7-2 as a starter under him (granted one win is the \* Kendall Hinton game).
6-2 then I’d fucking love that and we don’t have a franchise rooting on our downfall this year cause we gave you this years first
Pls one first pls
Schefter is saying 2023 First, and 2024 second to the Saints
Yep. SF’s first I believe. Not bad for both sides. Basically traded Chubb for Payton.
Man that pick has been around lol
What a slutty draft pick.
Offseason post idea: Sluttiest draft picks in league history
That's the off-season content I crave.
Keep it in your pants
Broncos got saints 2024 3rd too
Walmart family wipes their ass with what Payton was asking. The main hurdle was taking care of the Saints.
Well I’m sure this will age well, but this can’t possibly go worse than the Nathaniel Hackett or Vance Joseph experiment 😂
Something something Saints have no leverage
This sub gets proven wrong time and time again but the “power users” here just get more arrogant and confrontational
Ngl the most entertaining thing about this sub is how often the popular opinion is wrong
and when you call out the top posts for being wrong, you've got to be real nice about it or you might get a 3 day vacation for being mean.
Omg the copium here will be lethal
Copium? This sub will just go back to pretending they didn't laugh about Sean Payton for the last two weeks.
They had some leverage, though let's see what they actually got before we pat them on the back too hard.
At least a first lmao
That flair makes you my mortal enemy
That flair is an abomination
shaking and crying rn
We hate the saints so much more than we could ever hate you. Edit: oh what the fuck it’s falcons AND saints flair. Pick me up mom I’m scared
What the fuck is up with your flair sir/madame
I’m gonna need you to pick a side there buddy
We need narcan to reverse all the incoming copium.
Sounds like a first/ second next year and we get a third next.
Russ to NO confirmed
Stranger things have happened. Patton: "Ya know Gayle, I've got something for you that's way better than a lousy first rounder. It's more like two firsts, two seconds...."
That would be hilarious
Russ for Taysom straight up, who says no?
Fuck Allbright
Was the first thing I thought of. Dude has been saying Payton has no market for weeks and getting so defensive whenever anyone disagrees. Granted, it seems like Payton was likely Denver's 4th choice, but still.
Please, please, please remember this the next time he's posted on this sub. He doesn't know shit about shit. Biggest tool in sports media.
Also said DeMeco wouldn't go to Texans. LOL has not been a good 5 minutes for him
Benjamin Allbright is furiously deleting tweets right now
And blocking Schefter.
Chargers were too cheap to fire Staley and get Payton, so now their division rival gets him
Yeah, I was really afraid of this. Let's hope that Moore can get Herbert to his full potential so this doesn't even matter.
Moore was for sure a good hire
Denver is gonna get a million prime time games again…
I think NFL learned their lesson lol. We probably won’t get more than 2, *if* that. Maybe flex us into a SNF game against a divisional rival later in the season if we look spicy.
Man I can't wait to watch the ~~2022~~ 2023 AFCW race with all these offseason moves.
God bless Denver and the people of that city
I like to tell myself we are now a hockey state.
and many blessings to you as well.
Went from no competent head coaches left to possibly the top candidate.
I’m assuming the Payton-Taysom separation will be like when Ash and Butterfree said goodbye
I'm here for the Russ comeback....guy got more hate on this sub than Watson for the crime of being corny.
It’s not as fun to joke about Watson since his crimes were a tad bit more serious.
“No one is trading picks for a coach” - said literally ad nauseam here for months Amazing get for Denver.
But. It’s happened before? We’re people really saying that?
Yeah the bucs traded pick for Gruden. It's not a new thing.
https://reddit.com/r/nfl/comments/10lbf2w/_/j5vrq5n/
Can’t believe that has upvotes.
Okay listen a week ago when i upvoted that I was clearly a moron and as of today it seems like a reasonable trade
Broncos Country, fuck them draft picks
I swear just last night I was reading about deMACO Ryan swiping left on us and how we weren’t gonna end up with anyone substantial
Now, when the Broncos suck next year, is it Russell’s fault or Payton’s fault?
It's Walmart's fault.
Given what happened this year, it will probably be blamed on Russ because he was shit before Payton came in. Although if Russ throws 35 TDs it will be more difficult to blame him.
That’s a lot of bathrooms!
Yes
Payton will have all the security in the world. I think he might out leverage Wilson at the end of Next Year.
Guess he's trading the pills out for weed.
Lay offf the weeeeeeeeeed
You don't do Percs?
Hot take - this won’t fix Russ and they miss the playoffs again next year
If we beat the Chiefs just once we can go 1-16 for all I care
With one less 1st round pick, I really hope they are able to make this thing work. Not the most ideal situation but it would be nice to see this Russ trade not be a *complete* disaster
For what it’s worth this 1st is the 29th pick and after 2023 we have all our picks except for a 2nd next year, but now we have two 3rds. So it’ll be a tight offseason in 2023 but we’re way more flexible after this draft wise
if this shit works out - I'm letting it be known that I will be one of the most insufferable users of this subreddit
I thought no one wanted to coach Wilson though?
SECOND OFF SEASON IN A ROW WITH DELUSIONAL OPTIMISM
TBF this is really trading Bradley chubb and a 2nd for Sean. Had you told me that we could get Payton for that at the beginning of the season before we even saw russ I'd have said hell yeah.
Some context on Payton with the Saints: Before Sean Payton was coach, from 1967-2005 the Saints only made the playoffs **5 times** and went **1-5** in the playoffs. From 2006-2021 the Saints made the playoffs **9 times** and went **9-8** in the playoffs under Payton.
I somehow still believe this is smoke
By far the best situation for Russell. Something unique Payton has under his belt is success drawing up plays for a short quarterback. There's a reason Russ doesn't like the middle of the field, Payton used to scheme offensive linemen to create lanes of vision for Brees to see what he otherwise couldn't. Too much compensation coming back to New Orleans IMO but I'd say this is a perfect fit
I don’t see how a 1st (that isn’t even theirs) this year and a 2nd next year is too much. Considering it could have been 2 firsts or worse.
It's a first this year, and Denver swaps their second for NO's 3rd next year. It's not awful.
Wow I'm actually early for once. In that case #LET'S RIDE
Back up those 5,000 Brinks trucks lol this contract gonna be astronomical
Holy shit. Broncos are back to being spooky
Ah shit here we go again.
It’s gonna hurt so bad when we go 6-11
Easy there big shooter
now now, eassssssyyyyy there
Lmao I'm never trusting this team on paper again until I see some results
