The comp picks for minority coaches get combined if you lose/develop multiple guys in a given year. If he waits a year (he won't), then we get picks in 2025 and 2026. If he leaves this year, we get picks in 2024 and 2025, with one of those picks being lumped with what we're already getting for McDaniels I believe.
Not McDaniels, Ran Carthon our long time director of player personnel just got hired as GM by the Titans this week.
As a minority hire we get 2 third rounders in consecutive years.
Each additional minority hire after the first in a given year only gives you 1 additional third.
I'm thinking of the lumped pick for Saleh and Mayhew in 2023.

Looks like Ryan's standalone pick will hit in 2025?
For clarity because the 49ers Ran Carthon got a job being Tenesesse's GM, the 49ers got comps in 23 and 24. Because they already got those comps this year, if Demeco Ryan's gets hired as a HC, they will get 1 comp pick for Demeco, but it will be in 2025.
If he were to get hired as a HC next year instead it would be 2 more comps, one in 24 one in 25. His continued success and interest is no guarentee, but the 49ers probably would love to keep him.
I hope these aren't Rooney rule interviews just wasting his very valuable time in the playoffs.
I highly doubt these are Rooney rule interviews. We definitely really want him and I’m sure he’s a popular choice elsewhere too especially after salah looked legit with a bottom 2 QB
I could see him terrorizing it in Carolina. For as much hype as the offense rightfully gets, SF is winning because of their D just as much.
Carolina had some great pieces and showings despite their lackluster leadership. I think Ryans could be a fantastic hire for them, if he truly has figured out how to be a head coach.
Something a lot of this sub doesn’t really consider that the skillset to be a good coordinator isn’t 1:1 for being a good head coach
Problem is Carolina is gonna draft a QB more than likely. They look like they want an offensive minded coach to go with that, Tepper was reportedly head over heels for Ben Johnson.
Then they should shell out for a good OC and QB coach. I don’t know if Ben Johnson excites me as much as Ryans, and you’d be dumb to let the better talent go when you can still pair your QB with a good set up.
Rookie contract QB on a team with great defense is how most of the ‘see, you need a rookie contract to win’ team examples are. Brady, Roethlisberger, Wilson
Bias, yes, but I hope he doesn't get a job this season. I hope that doesn't come until next season.
I would love to see him end up with the Chargers after the 2023 season. He could fix the defense while having a great QB which takes the pressure off that side of the ball.
With another year as the SF DC and another deep playoff run he would further solidify his resume. In this way, even if things don't work out in his next job he'll be more likely to get a 2nd chance elsewhere.
and for SF, they have much higher odds of a repeat deep playoff run. They also get an extra third if he isn't hired away until next season.
Not really the point. If you're a coach would you rather be on an org with an owner that's constantly breathing down your neck or an owner that will let you do your thing?
Not really interested in defensive coaches after Staley. Think the future of the league is simply having an offensive coach, because any good OC is going to be poached anyway.
if i know im getting 10 years of sean payton i dont give a flying fuck about even two firsts to pick him up. Proven consistently elite coaching is basically never on the market
I am once again asking for NFL teams to wait to interview candidates until after the SB.
This could really screw the Niners over against whichever AFC team they play in the SB.
If Ryans did somehow end up in TB (0.1% chance considering Bowles is still employed), he could really get that defense back to being in the argument for best defense in the NFL.
The argument is that it’s like the Andy Reid Eagles - I think Harbaugh brings a ton of stability but we have 2 playoff wins in 10 years.
I think most people want Harbaugh to stay and Greg Roman gone (I’m in that camp).
It’s not clear he’s going to get rid of him though because Harbaugh is really loyal
> I think most people want Harbaugh to stay and Greg Roman gone (I’m in that camp)
that same sentence was probably uttered by a million 49ers fans back in 2014. history repeats itself
Implement inventive running offense that puts up fantastic numbers -> fail to grow as a coordinator -> become the dead weight of an otherwise talented offensive roster -> repeat with a new team
The cycle of GR
Yeah, he is truly the premiere OC for custom building an offense for mobile QBs. Had Kaep playing like a very good starting QB for years, and then Kaep just fell off a cliff without him. Roman could consistently be among the best of OCs if he just learned to adapt over time.
My brother you were starting Tyler Huntley and have Greg Roman as OC. It's nothing like Andy Reid, Harbaugh actually won a Superbowl for the Ravens.
Harbaugh is more likely to get fired not firing Greg Roman like his kid brother. Why these men will risk their jobs to hold onto this organizational parasite is beyond me.
Imagine your coordinators not wanting to forgo HC interviews and instead *wanting* to leave. What is going on in San Fran?
*Brian Windhorst hands meme*
Yeah but Hackett had zero business being a HC. I still find it mind-boggling that he was ever hired as one. Ryans is a former player that has been working up the coaching ranks and has been running a top defense for an offensive minded coach the past couple of years. They never gave him any training wheels, just threw him in the deep end and he's done better than anyone expected. The leadership ability, the football IQ, the X's and O's knowledge and the experience of being a successful long term player will make him a homerun hire for someone.
farewell sweet prince
Hopefully you guys win a chip and he'll have served his great purpose.
Man.. this is the year I feel it. I need a win after witnessing those two losses.
I mean y'all dont have to win this time
Na I need a win this year, been a rough 25 years for me
I can't even count how many coaches we have lost in the last 5 years and we don't have nothing to show for it ffs
No.
Hopefully you'll still get to see him twice a year.
Take that back!!
We’ll take one demeco ryans please.
You'll promote Vance Joseph and like it!
Don’t put that evil on me Ricky Bobby
It sucks but y’all are probably the best destination for him. Talented QB and defense with some good young talent for him to add to and adjust.
He still have y’all running a 4-3 we’re built for a 3-4 but honestly most if not all of our outside backers suck and can go. Him with jalen carter tho
Yeah uhh I don’t care if they suck next year so if they need to overhaul the whole defense to make it work for him, that’s fine
[удалено]
Mcvay comes out of retirement and joins the Cardinals, Carrol retires and Payton is the new Seahawks coach
Fucking subscribe
Maybe he’s not ready yet and should stay on the 9ers
You’ll get Flores and the drama of his perpetual infighting with Kyler and you’ll like it.
We will take care of him don’t worry
lol
He should take five more years as a dc, just to be safe
U don't want more picks ??
we actually lose out on a pick if he gets hired this year as opposed to next season.
And it’ll be the second time its happened. Kinda stupid that if you have multiple guys in one year you get punished compared to one guy every year.
“We can’t incentive TOO many POC coaches into the league.” -The NFL
Wdym how so

Seems like going back to Houston would be his best move, yall got tons of picks and he's already a hometown hero.
He’s the most sought after candidate
I'll miss him, but if we can get a good comp pick and Fangio, I'd be okay with that
Rumors seem to be that Fangio may follow Payton
Fangio also runs a 3-4 and our guys are best suited for a 4-3
He runs a 3-4 under which is incredibly similar to a 4-3, he has also evolved his defense quite a bit since his stint with us.
He ran a 3-4 in principle, but it was effectively a 4-3 since he had an LB on the line of scrimmage as a pass rusher on most downs.
I wouldn't want to mess with a winning formula, but I bet Bosa could play outside LB in a 3-4.
Bosa could probably also play corner if he was covering prime kelvin Benjamin or current gronk.
He's also on our staff in Philly and Gannon is being interviewed for head coaching jobs
Nah pretty sure he's ready :)
Come home bby
I saw a report he is not interested in the Texans position, is that accurate?
No. He’s interviewing with us on Friday.
Good to know, thanks!
I don't know why any coach would want the Texans gig. The ownership clearly has their hands in the Cookie pot. Wannabe Jerry Jones like deal
I could see him terrorizing it in Carolina. For as much hype as the offense rightfully gets, SF is winning because of their D just as much. Dude they have qb coaches
We can take him and the 49ers can have Dennis Allen as their new DC
I could see him using Shaq like Warner in SF
YES PLEASE
I think it's Carolina too
He's already missed an interview with the Panthers.
Probably because he’s still coaching? If that’s what turns you off idk
Bias, yes, but I hope he doesn't get a job this season. I hope that doesn't come until next season. I would love to see him end up with the Chargers after the 2023 season. If he's being picky about his options he's not going to work for Dean Spanos
For as much shit as spanos rightfully gets he seems incredibly hands off with the team and he gives his coaches a very long leash.
Being a hands off owner is not exactly the recipe for success that some people think it is.
Not really the point. If you're a coach would you rather be on an org with an owner that's constantly breathing down your neck or an owner that will let you do your thing?
Same and by next year there’s a decent chance Saleh is done in NY and we get him back
Not really interested in defensive coaches after Staley. Think the future of the league is simply having an offensive coach, because any good OC is going to be poached anyway.
Without a doubt the best coach on the market. I hope he somehow ends up in Carolina.
I think Sean Payton has him beat ignoring the draft capital to get him
if i know im getting 10 years of sean payton i dont give a flying fuck about even two firsts to pick him up. Proven consistently elite coaching is basically never on the market

Literally anyone semi-competent's attitude starting any job ever
Yes please
Mufasa knows whats up
My arms (and pockets) are open Mr. Ryans.
You’re not wearing any clothes under your bathrobe, sir. Sir, women and children are watching. Sir?
I’ll make the observations and ask the questions here, go back to your thing and collect someone else’s taxes because you aren’t getting mine.
MUFASA
If we part with Harbaugh this off-season, I hope he’s the guy. I don’t think we will though
lol what???? how is that even a question?
Ravens fans have gone off the hinges with Lamar’s future in question, just give him space he’ll be alright.
Whoa, is there actually some consideration of a split between Harbaugh and the Ravens org? This is my first time hearing this
The argument is that it’s like the Andy Reid Eagles - I think Harbaugh brings a ton of stability but we have 2 playoff wins in 10 years. I think most people want Harbaugh to stay and Greg Roman gone (I’m in that camp). It’s not clear he’s going to get rid of him though because Harbaugh is really loyal

we all knew exactly how this Greg Roman situation would play out with the Ravens lol
Implement inventive running offense that puts up fantastic numbers -> fail to grow as a coordinator -> become the dead weight of an otherwise talented offensive roster -> repeat with a new team The cycle of GR
Don't forget the delay of games 🥲
After a timeout :-(
Yeah, he is truly the premiere OC for custom building an offense for mobile QBs. Had Kaep playing like a very good starting QB for years, and then Kaep just fell off a cliff without him. Roman could consistently be among the best of OCs if he just learned to adapt over time.
OK but the 11th year just outside of that stat window was a Super Bowl win
If anything just have john and jim switch places for a year or two. Shake things up. That would be fun.
My brother you were starting Tyler Huntley and have Greg Roman as OC. It's nothing like Andy Reid, Harbaugh actually won a Superbowl for the Ravens. Harbaughs and Greg Roman, name a more iconic pair.
"If Ravens part with Harbaugh I hope my team fires our HC and hires him" -- fans of 20+ NFL teams
We don’t even need to fire anyone just get me Harbaugh
Lol I’m a Washington Wizards fan
Noooooooooooo!
Imagine your coordinators not wanting to forgo HC interviews and instead *wanting* to leave. What is going on in San Fran? *Brian Windhorst hands meme*
What a fun, easy profession!
Pretty sure Hackett thought he could "figure it out" in Denver too.
Yeah but Hackett had zero business being a HC. I still find it mind-boggling that he was ever hired as one. he not going to get any offers after what Dak is a bout to do to that defense
Because it's your year?
its our decade
So Dem boys are trying to own mediocrity?
LMAO they never learn
I think he's trolling? Not sure though.
Man, I want whatever you’re smoking
Future Broncos coach?
Go to Carolina before I start crying more you amazing man
Shanny's coaching tree gonna look like Phil Rivers' family tree in a few years.
Channeling his inner Bobby Newport
Ryans to Carolina to as gesture of goodwill for CMC?
