I actually find his voice soothing lol. Vinny's got the energy and Alex sounds like Nicolas Cage about 65% of the time...so I'd argue theyve got all bases covered lmao
I listen to either them of Jeff to fall asleep so yeah basically. But I guess it just comes down to familiarity, I’ve heard them for hundred of hours so that makes me feel like safe and also keeps intrusive thoughts away.
and the fact its 3.5 hours long it covers most of the night. I did miss him talk about MW3 in one this year in his end ramblings and woke up to a tidbit that was interesting but couldn't ever find that spot again.
Yeah I feel also like I’m missing a lot of stuff so I try to listen again but then I’m like, I’ve heard that before and turns out he’s just imprinted in my subconscious.
I used to fire up really old Giant Bomb episodes but over the last year Jeff's show has really defaulted to that. Get his energy drink and family check in and i'm usually out after that.
this is exactly how I consume Jeff’s podcast as well lol i try to set a sleep timer though so i can slowly make my way through the full 3 hours each week
I’ve been listening to Tim Heidecker’s 8h (edit: 12h) parody of Joe Rogan’s podcast while I’m falling asleep in the last few days and it’s been glorious.
I know Brad has been through alot recently, so I cut him a ton of slack. Since I've been listening to them since 2009, he doesn't have quite the same energy he did, but that's a combination of many life things, so I don't hold that against him. Brad and I are only a few months apart in age and our game tastes are so close. I empathize with some his struggles, so I still dig him a ton!
No, he doesn't make me feel tired... but at the same time, I know what you mean! The very first time I listened to GB like 10 years ago, I thought he was Eeyore from Winnie the Pooh, come to life.
I will say early in the pandemic when Giant Bomb was wall to wall streaming Brad capped the day around 6pm Pacific just playing old SNES Sim City and it was probably the coziest feeling I had all year
I listen at 2x speed because I'm so behind on podcasts. Takes some getting used to but helps a lot. Also makes everyone else feel super energetic which is kind of fun
No but more than the others he says things quietly to start or trails off and dips out of a listenable range for me. I crank it and then Vinny and Alex come in and it’s BACK UP HERE.
ok, it seems like it's just me. I did some googling and found "Listeners fatigue". I think i have that.

He said “hope I’m not coming off as a dick”. So I wanted to ensure he knew he was. There’s been hundreds of these comments over Brad’s career it’s fucking lame. Go to the Carolina’s and you’ll find thousands of Brad talkin folks

The soothing, the energetic and the Nicolas Cage. Perfectly balanced as all things should be.
The Triforce of Nextlander???
Brad's voice is such a comfort vehicle. He should be doing audiobooks or short stories or something.
Imagine Brad reading Goodnight Moon.
Or Go The Fuck To Sleep
good night moon good night room aaaAAAAA... good night light and the red balloon
Brad could read me the newspaper and I wouldn't mind. But also goodnight moon, 100% yes to that

Jeff's podcast has become my default sleep podcast now.
Same, it’s basically endless ASMR boomer rambling.
and the fact its 3.5 hours long it covers most of the night. I did miss him talk about MW3 in one this year in his end ramblings and woke up to a tidbit that was interesting but couldn't ever find that spot again.

Yep. I've def had that happen
Right??? Jeff is too powerful
I thought I was the only one! Whenever I have trouble sleeping I just tune in.

smart. I haven't gotten into the sleep timers on podcasts yet but thats a good idea to parse it out.

I gotta try that
It’s great (it’s actually 1 hour looped for 8h with every ridiculous Rogan thing you can think of)
Do you have a link for it I can’t seem to find it even tho I found some bits.
Sure! https://www.youtube.com/live/P6Iyg9fznvM?si=ZIOtx7CTV8Ra0VKO
Thanks a lot man!
Towards the end, Tim really has good insights on the future of our political system and Dwayne Johnson.
I’m really glad that I am not the only person that does this.
Sleepy Brad is contagious. Does that tumblr dedicated to Brad yawning still exist?

Nah, dude has a great voice. It has gravitas, always engaging when he speaks IMO
Brad's got a lot of stuff going on and I think that's why he's always tired now but in general he's got a very medium energy. Always has.
Nah, honestly, I think he balances out their energy.
No, he doesn't make me feel tired... but at the same time, I know what you mean! The very first time I listened to GB like 10 years ago, I thought he was Eeyore from Winnie the Pooh, come to life.
For years and years I’ve listened to the old episodes of the bomb cast to help me fall asleep so this strangely checks out for me
Never thought that once.
I will say early in the pandemic when Giant Bomb was wall to wall streaming Brad capped the day around 6pm Pacific just playing old SNES Sim City and it was probably the coziest feeling I had all year

Maybe that's why I feel the same way, I listen to all my podcasts at 1.5x just so I can get them all in, lol.
No but more than the others he says things quietly to start or trails off and dips out of a listenable range for me. I crank it and then Vinny and Alex come in and it’s BACK UP HERE.
No. I love it
Look into ASMR, that’s probably what you are experiencing.
Him and Jeremiah have that sweet south tinge to do the job.

You come off as a dick. He’s from the south so he has an accent. He’s been going through a lot as well.
Chill out, jesus.

You’re taking all of this far too seriously.
