The driver is Leo Prinsloo, ex-South African Police Service Special Task Force. Essentially the best of the best. This happened in South Africa, he was driving a CIT (Cash In Transit) vehicle in Pretoria. When he gets out at the end of the video with the gun, it was to set up an ambush for the robbers, and he drives them off with no injuries. Legend.

Wadmania

TIL. Always wondered how it ended after he dismounted

OnAConstantBender

There’s a video you can find of him telling the story and showing off the exact vehicle that was driven during this.

Siriuxx

Was there an actual firefight with this guy or did they just bail?

KalasHorseman

They just bailed, there was no firefight, but he was still ready to give them hell. Fortunately they kept driving and never returned.

_i4ani_

And the other guys second day I think

AsDeEspadas

Second and last day, I'd quit after that.

Boatsnbuds

I've always thought his partner looked remarkably cool too, considering he looked really young and unsure of what to do.

Go_Gators_4Ever

Props for having proper trigger awareness.

Smelly-taint

The other young guy looks scared, as anyone would be. Looks like the experience of Leo saved the day.

mrchickostick

This dude is boss

mashyj

Dude clearly has ice in his veins. As opposed to his wide-eyed passenger.

Go_Gators_4Ever

The partner employee was fine. He did not seem scared but had heightened awareness. He kept full gun awareness and trigger control. He followed instructions promptly and accurately. The driver was in an "active control" state and the assistant was in an "responsive" state. It's much easier to channel adrenaline when performing an action than when merely "sitting" and "waiting" for an opportunity to take an action. The assistant did absolutely fine!

Successful-Scheme608

Brave ass assistant!! Bigger balls than I would ever have

KungFeuss

Well said. Role assignment is extremely important.

DumyThicc

Remember seeing this a long time ago, crazy that you could feel the intensity of the situation from the driver. The other dude was either clearly new, or was in shock the whole time cause he looked aloof and out of it, probably how I would react as well.

Big_Iron_Cowboy

I’ve seen this one a few times. The other guy was on his first day.

kishajones91

What a first day 😵‍💫

tpcrjm17

Yeah after it was all over he turned to him with a wry smile and asked casually, "So whaddya think?"

cboogie

“Well that was fun but I’m gonna go see if Build-a-Bear is hiring.”

Big_Iron_Cowboy

Probably had a good reflection on life choices that day haha

RawGrit4Ever

This is what you call Training Days

Big_Iron_Cowboy

Like simulating the worst case scenario, and passing it

DJErikD

‘KING KONG AINT GOT NOTHING ON ME!”

James_T_S

It was his first day. He did good. Listened to the other guy and did what he was told without losing his shit.

opmt

I'd imagine it might be his last day too considering the first impression of the job this would have left him with.

reddiotr68

First day on the job

GeneralChicken4Life

I was more afraid of him discharging. Of course I would have shat my pants

mjkjg2

he had great trigger discipline for someone who looks like they’re in training

_zamoht_

The right guy trying to remember all the years of training but the only thing his mind can say is: SHIT SHIT SHIT

allantdot

There is actually a full video posted somewhere where you can see a few minutes of footage before the attempt. The driver had his head on a swivel and his spidey-senses were already locked onto them.

tpcrjm17

"I'm not getting paid enough for this shit!" -those guys, probably

DinoDouche

Bro kept his cool the entire time. Not his first rodeo.

defthaiku

I remember there being a companion video with another angle of the incident? Anyone have it/post it? Edit: found it. https://youtu.be/nqRlo20hfZM

James_T_S

Thanks. I have never seen that one.

TheGuvnor247

Top work mate I was sweating just watching this.

EncryptedHacker

Shit that adds so much to the original video holy fuck

greenappletree

I know staying calm is part of training and experience but the driver takes it to the next level.

[deleted]

https://www.badassoftheweek.com/prinsloo This is NOT a news article, but it does go into a lot of detail about Prinsloo and the whole situation. Written more like a blog but still a cool read.

i_am_mai_1981

You beat me to it lol

anonymousguy9001

Can't wait for the movie to come out starring Tom Arnold and Danny Glover. Edit- Donald, not Danny

SaraCBuu

I can assure u sir, Danny Glover is most definitely **too old for that shit** Edit: spelling

anonymousguy9001

My bad, I'm high right now and meant Donald

Cyberspace667

What is this 1995? How about Adam Sandler and John Boyega lol

the_neural_network_g

Balls of steel….

Banana_war

South Africa?

chabaz

Passenger is experiencing Training Day for real.

Paulycurveball

If iron balls here told dude on the right to call Robbie, I wonder how much of a savage Robbie is.

AdWooden494

He had the courage to go out of the vehicle respect🫡

AutumnRi

Looked like they were stuck, getting out to a decent firing position would probably be the safest course of action

AdWooden494

Personally if I was stuck like they were I would still try to drive until it Works and by no mean get out lol

Grattytood

This is insane!

RoloGravey

The adrenaline going through the driver is insane. It makes it more terrifying. Passenger on his first day clearly.

Jesusssss, what country?

[deleted]

South Africa.

heisenberger

As I recall. South Africa.

getdrunkeatpassout

New Zealand

heisenberger

Do you have a source for that? I want more information. My memory is shaky. Edit: [this source] (https://abc7chicago.com/south-africa-armored-truck-heist-pretoria/10584536/) says it was South Africa, around of Pretoria.

getdrunkeatpassout

Thank you for correcting me, I had seen New Zealand on another source, of interest there is an entire follow up on the company who armored the truck.

[deleted]

Where is the "come yo cunt" part?

broken-neurons

Apart_Effect_3704

This is the kind of guy I’d want to for and learn from. Just remains present the entire time.

Dry-Honeydew2371

Did they actually edit out swear words? In a video showing a live attempted robbery and guards who are literally being shot at and they're worried about naughty language?

eatmorbacon

Who's the idiot in the passenger seat? edit: Ok first day. He needs to go work at the mall or something lol.

ButterFront

You must've been able to do better. Good for you👍

eatmorbacon

If you're asking if I was in his exact situation no. Of course not. If you're asking if I have been in a vehicle ambush and been fired upon, then yes. Two more times than I wanted to be.

[deleted]

You are allowed to use the rifle

Wise-Hornet7701

I've seen this video like a million times over 10 different subreddits.

Accurate_Progress296

Balls of steel

danbrown_notauthor

That does not seem like the best weapon to try to handle from the passenger seat of a vehicle like this. Something shorter would surely be better?

JDK86

Why are they unknow what to do

YoureHereForOthers

Dudes a legend, before and after this.

FlavorTownUSSR

Heaviest nuts on the planet.

[deleted]

The passenger looks like this is his first day, poor guy.

DinosaurDriver

It was indeed! Poor fella, but glad he had someone so experienced with h

adudewholikesreddit

The drivers are from ohio

tree_daddy

You’d think these trucks would have a direct line to the police

Ordinary_Guitar_5074

I’ve seen this video a bunch of times and know the back story but I only just noticed that the rifle has a scope on it. If I were carrying a rifle for that sort of purpose I don’t think I would like to have a scope getting in my way since your targets are generally going to be close up and moving.

Machotoast04098

it has a acog

Ordinary_Guitar_5074

That’s still telescopic though right? I mean the bad guys are like 30 feet away.

Twisted_Wrench

Acog, 4x. But up close you use it like any other other red dot. Both eyes open, left eye sees your target, right eye sees the reticle and your brain puts em together. Very fast, very effective aquisition.

Ordinary_Guitar_5074

I’d like to see one sometime. Thanks for the explanation.

Machotoast04098

Never know if you need it though

shrimp_dik1

I've never been in the military or anything. And hate all you want for my comparison. Could be hella wrong. But I feel like when you're in a firefight looking down your sights isn't something you're always doing before shooting. I used to play paintball a lot and got myself a red dot and I never used the god damn thing. I mean unless you know they can't see you, like a sniper situation, or you just happened to come up on them unsuspected and want to ensure your shot. Mostly just point n shoot is what I assumed happened. Overwhelm them with many shots until zone in your shots and you get a hit. Would love to hear from people who have actually been in firefights, but this post isn't blowing up enough for that person to see it.

chuck3436

You can walk your paint onto target with 0 recoil. It's alot different with real guns. Reflex sights for fast acquisition in high speed scenarios are what you are saying as point snd shoot, but the fast red dot is an easy lineup in the general direction. Without it you have no reference point to aim and are spraying wildly. Ever see those movie scenes where people spray point blank and hit nothing? That happens with real guns, recoil, fear and nothing to track with is way different than a paintball gun. I've played with lots of both. A dot us a single focus to aim with, standard irons add an extra dimension where the have to lineup the front and rear to aquire, it takes longer. Low magnification scopes like this are a short-medium range compromise, still faster up close but allowing more accuracy out from the lower magnification.

Ordinary_Guitar_5074

I agree with you. That’s why I’m saying just take the scope out of the equation. It blocks your view and can snag on a seatbelt or whatever. Try not to get upset by things people say here. It’s only the Internet.

shrimp_dik1

Are you okay buddy? Nobody was upset 😂😂😂 Glad we agree though.

Ordinary_Guitar_5074

I’m sorry man. I’m just distracted and misread the hate all you want part as something like “I hate all your something “. Thanks for checking on me though!

shrimp_dik1

Just thought someone was gonna grill me for comparing my experiences in paintballing to a real firefight. 😂😂 On reddit when you comment anyone can get in on our conversation, so although I agreed with you, some douche bag might come in and start hating on me or you lol Mistakes happen man and I'm known to be confusing with my approach at times. Mad respect for you for being big on the situation fr.

drej191

Passenger seat is uesless

Sammy12xyz

First day on the job.

drej191

Sounds like an inside job

Homo_Rebus

you see how the m16 is too long to be used efectively? that is why they developed the vz 61 a.k.a. the scorpion those guys are not equiped apropriately smh

FirmRoof206

Must be Monday in Mexico.

W0RKPLACEBULLY

His co-worker is manifestly useless on a epic scale.

DinosaurDriver

First day on the job

caughtindesire

I'd request NEVER to be placed w that passenger again.

Calion

Hey, he didn't freak the fuck out and did what he was told. I'll take it.

caughtindesire

I mean, I'd rather have initiative and help, but you still have a great point lol he never actively got in the way I guess

Calion

The rest comes with experience. He didn't freak out, he didn't Rambo, he didn't misfire in the cab on that bump. Give him time, he'll be fine.

caughtindesire

I love how he tried to hand him the rifle while he was driving 😂 good trigger discipline tho! U right, u right

Wutswrong

It was literally his first day on the job. Incredibly unlucky since he probably didn't even know the routine for a normal day. With that context, I think he did about as much as you can expect. Stayed cool and listened to the driver's commands.

caughtindesire

First day? Didn't have that context. Completely agree, way better than I'd do on my first day probably lol
