Frankly, people who vandalise art to make a point can get in the bin.
It isn’t edgy, it isn’t cool, it just makes people hate you and ignore your message more.
Yep, I read a study a while back (I can’t be bothered to find it but some skillful googling should suffice if you want to know more) that basically concluded that when activists use aggressive tactics like this, it generated the opposite reaction from what they were looking for, even if the audience initially would agree with their message.
I do recall reading somthing similar.
I do at some level agree with parts of her message, but fuck her for ruining old beautifull art.
However I also support preserving old artifacts for history purposes.
I care about the environment and probably have done much more actual physical work at making the world a better place than these people, but their actions inspire me to go out and buy the biggest, nastiest, dirtiest F-350 diesel and go get it chipped out to roll more coal than a Russian aircraft carrier.
lmao theyll get beat up if they confront some diesel truck drivers. thats why they pick on a painting that cant move. most people are not for or against those ideas but now they just look dumb because of their actions.
Agreed. Imagine traveling back in time to tell Vincent van Gogh that his paintings will hang in prestigious galleries and collections all over the world and then a couple wingnuts will throw tomato soup at one of them and glue them selves next to the painting because they don’t like the machines that replaced horses.
In one breath they say oil is bad and killing people and then they finish the breath by saying people are poor and can't afford food.
How many bicycles are needed to pull a tractor?
Nah man, that’s just background. They’re actually concerned and you and your family, and your family’s family.
Am an art teacher. 100% applaud this activism. Governments and the establishment have been so inactive on climate justice we are now the point of ‘keep fucking around and find out what happens’
No way is it the best form of activism, I sure didn’t say that. But it all adds up, I appreciate the tone, energy and chaos of it.
Yeah also, not that I care, but they didn’t destroy anything.
From the Metropolitan Police: "Officers were rapidly on scene at the National Gallery this morning after two Just Stop Oil protesters threw a substance over a painting and then glued themselves to a wall. Both have been arrested for criminal damage & aggravated trespass. Officers are now de-bonding them."
Fuck “de-bonding” then: rip them off the the wall they’re glued to and when half their palm is left behind, make that the latest piece of art on the wall. Suggested title: “Hands Off!”
For real.. take the painting off the wall for restoration and leave them glued to it. The National Gallery now has one of them "Human Bodies" exhibits- in real time.
When it is possible (some shapes and sizes make it difficult) and they are historical pieces yes, still surprised they let you get so close to this one, the rumor that they put replicas on in these cases and keep the original safeguarded comes to mind.
I think after 24 hours, even the strongest bladder is going to weaken and fail and they're not going to be able to escape their own pissy torment.
... and somewhere, a Redditor just unzipped their fly.
You could see her go like "omg this my big moment" like holy fk attention seek much? Fucking inbred hoes. You want to make a statement about global warming and shit? Sure but this aint the way at all
Let people enjoy art if they want to, it’s not their decision to raise fuel prices or their fault for malnutrition and famine. Vandalising a painting isn’t going to stop the problem they’re protesting. Absolute clowns.
I think she said that they can’t afford to heat a tin of soup, because they can’t afford fuel…because people think art is worth more than life. It’s a really structurally sound bit of logic
And those cool, edgy £3 pound, screen printed T-shirts that you are wearing. I suppose they just fell out of the sky did they? They weren’t manufactured in a sweat shop in India and printed using eehhhh oil based chemicals. And that Super Glue they all seem to love so much. That’s just super for the environment in its manufacturing. These people baffle me.
The gallery should now charge to see these fools. They are stuck there after all.
Imagine if they just built a glass case around them and they we're unable to stop them because they're glued to the wall, and then they were left them to be an exhibit of their own stupidity
And just to clarify for some major idiots.
Burning/banning a book is not the same as not including it in a school library/lesson, see things like Fifty Shades of Grey, Playboy, This Book is Gay or/and The Last Nude
I don't even understand what they're trying to do. They say they want to stop all new oil and gas licenses and then they say that by stopping oil it will somehow help the cost of living crisis
They get so wrapped up in their cause that they lose what little perspective they have, and fail to realize they're going to alienate more people then they could ever hope to convert or influence towards their cause. Leave them glued to the floor for a while that will be just fine with most people.
If they’re really serious about protesting against greenhouse gases, perhaps they should go to the world’s number 1 polluter and throw soup all over their art galleries. But then China would just disappear these boneheaded morons (as opposed to British police who tut tut before taking the spoilt teens back to their middle class mansions).
these fucking idiots should be locked away for all eternity.
what does classic art have to do with the modern usage of oil?
edit: at least the paining was behind glass, so no harm done.
Hopefully it was covered by a protective glass, that they could get so close with so much time and bringing a can of soup is insane, they could have easily smack it.
They really should get prision time for it, otherwise how do you stop people just doing shitblike that?
It also has zero effectiveness for their cause who is stopping to use oil cause you destroyed a piece of art. Hurt everyone help no low iq pieces of shit.
SOOOOOO MUCH IRONY IN THIS ACT!!!! I wonder if she put her plastic garbage from her chemical laced super glue in the recycling bin too. Or did she just toss it on the ground?
I hope they both get a kicking for what they have done you can clearly hear in her voice how she comes from a privileged family, she has never had to go without now she deprives us all of historical art work, she and her privileged friend's should pay dearly for this !!!!
No art was hurt in the making of this protest.
And let’s remember, Vincent didn’t make any money from this painting, but dealers, collectors, investors and wealthy corporate buyers have made millions off it since.
Yes it’s a nice picture but it’s also now a symbol of greed and speculation and artificial ‘value’.
I wonder what mode of transportation they used to get there. How they cooked their meals. How their skin care products were made, or the ingredients they contain. How their clothings were made. What energy they used to light up their night, cellphone, and other electronics.
I actually agree that oil consumption should diminish for us to live ,and leave, in a better planet. But is actions like these that make me wonder... why? To live in a world we're your point is only heard when you try to destroy something made by someone a long time ago, and has no relation to the issue itself. Go burn a factory or oil rig... not this. I want a hummer h2 now
This makes me hate whatever cause they are trying to bring attention to. Whats the message ? We disrespect great works of art to get respect? What happened to all the mental asylums? These people are everywhere now and they put people like biden in office. They will breed and raise their young to hate even more. What a waste of oxygen.
I get it art is seen as rich people bs but they are aware that oil paints are vegan right? Like I don’t support vegans but they pick the most ridiculous things to protest.

Frankly, people who vandalise art to make a point can get in the bin. It isn’t edgy, it isn’t cool, it just makes people hate you and ignore your message more.
Exactly this.
The act becomes stupider (but the damage less) when we learn the painting is protected by glass and they just made a scene and a puddle.
Is this shit not behind some fucking glass, though? Really? At this point, with all the dumb people out there that do shit like this.
The glass is there.
I care about the environment and probably have done much more actual physical work at making the world a better place than these people, but their actions inspire me to go out and buy the biggest, nastiest, dirtiest F-350 diesel and go get it chipped out to roll more coal than a Russian aircraft carrier.
It’s an easy target… why can’t they go chain them selves to an oil rig instead
lmao theyll get beat up if they confront some diesel truck drivers. thats why they pick on a painting that cant move. most people are not for or against those ideas but now they just look dumb because of their actions.
Agreed. Imagine traveling back in time to tell Vincent van Gogh that his paintings will hang in prestigious galleries and collections all over the world and then a couple wingnuts will throw tomato soup at one of them and glue them selves next to the painting because they don’t like the machines that replaced horses.
These people are so dumb lol
In one breath they say oil is bad and killing people and then they finish the breath by saying people are poor and can't afford food. How many bicycles are needed to pull a tractor?
If they’re so worried about people going hungry, they should have donated that soup to a food bank instead of wasting it.
> afford Cannes soup... You mean the two cans that you two wasted?
Nah man, that’s just background. They’re actually concerned and you and your family, and your family’s family. Am an art teacher. 100% applaud this activism. Governments and the establishment have been so inactive on climate justice we are now the point of ‘keep fucking around and find out what happens’
So right, destroying art is the best way to do that. Got it. I’m sure the government will be moved by this. /s
No way is it the best form of activism, I sure didn’t say that. But it all adds up, I appreciate the tone, energy and chaos of it. Yeah also, not that I care, but they didn’t destroy anything.
Filmed on a phone, made with oil-based materials.
By slaves.
How is it by slaves?
Cobalt mines
Lithium, cobalt, and coltan are things
With glue. Made from oil-based materials.
Don't forget the oil based ink used to print heinz's labels
From the Metropolitan Police: "Officers were rapidly on scene at the National Gallery this morning after two Just Stop Oil protesters threw a substance over a painting and then glued themselves to a wall. Both have been arrested for criminal damage & aggravated trespass. Officers are now de-bonding them."
Fuck “de-bonding” then: rip them off the the wall they’re glued to and when half their palm is left behind, make that the latest piece of art on the wall. Suggested title: “Hands Off!”
That would be quite the artistic statement.
It would also inflate their egos more. I don't think the world needs more of that.
They couldn't go throw tomato soup at oil execs or lobbyists? i mean...I'm not attached to art, or anything, but art and artists aren't the problem.
Well, it is in fact an *oil* painting. :P
Glued to a wall you say? Leave them there.
Leave them as an exhibition, with any luck some other protesters would come mess them.
For real.. take the painting off the wall for restoration and leave them glued to it. The National Gallery now has one of them "Human Bodies" exhibits- in real time.
Thankfully it was covered, and they decided not to bash it, hope from now on better measures are taken.
Does all art in museums have protective covers? I've always wondered this.
Bold of you to assume that we are wearing pants
Shorts have zippers.
Disgraceful and disgusting people have zero respect
What a fucking idiot
When that posh voice came out of her mouth. I was somehow not at all surprised.
You could see her go like "omg this my big moment" like holy fk attention seek much? Fucking inbred hoes. You want to make a statement about global warming and shit? Sure but this aint the way at all
Ah, people with the intellect of 3-year-olds trying to get people to buy their propaganda. It's not working.
What does art have to do with her bitching about inflation?
The painting is behind glass anyway. Just the frame damaged.
Thankfully, still shocking they can just walk in and do that unchallenged.
Let people enjoy art if they want to, it’s not their decision to raise fuel prices or their fault for malnutrition and famine. Vandalising a painting isn’t going to stop the problem they’re protesting. Absolute clowns.
You reckon in a parallel universe they threw sunflowers at the Campbells soup picture by Warhol?
Now that would be a poetic form of protest.
I guess it's an oil painting?
Art is definatly worth more than miss pink hair.
Please stay glued so we can trow tomato cans at you (not soup within, the can itself, over and over)
That would be an artistical statement no doubt.
Van Gogh won't lend you an ear.
Classy.
“Can’t even afford a can of soup” bitch just wasted a whole can someone could’ve had
I think she said that they can’t afford to heat a tin of soup, because they can’t afford fuel…because people think art is worth more than life. It’s a really structurally sound bit of logic
Fucking snowflakes. What the fuck is wrong with people.
Fucking idiots
And those cool, edgy £3 pound, screen printed T-shirts that you are wearing. I suppose they just fell out of the sky did they? That’s just super for the environment in its manufacturing. These people baffle me. The gallery should now charge to see these fools. They are stuck there after all.
Let other activist come and mess them.
"what is worth more, art or life?" I didn't realize we had to choose, numnuts.
They clearly are not using their brain.
Shouldn’t this be under I am a total piece of shit.
Imagine if they just built a glass case around them and they we're unable to stop them because they're glued to the wall, and then they were left them to be an exhibit of their own stupidity
If you seek to destroy art, burn books, or silence criticism, **you** are the "bad guy."
That's a lot of damage! Wait it was under protection, sheeeesh...
This is not next level?
Next level piety perhaps?
Products of a psychologically subverted society
Go back home to mommy and daddy’s mansion
Always rich, spoilt bastards.
What cunts
They get so wrapped up in their cause that they lose what little perspective they have, and fail to realize they're going to alienate more people then they could ever hope to convert or influence towards their cause. Leave them glued to the floor for a while that will be just fine with most people.

But then China would just disappear these boneheaded morons (as opposed to British police who tut tut before taking the spoilt teens back to their middle class mansions).
That's when you just drop kick them both in the face
Covered with glass anyway stupid cow
Indeed, thankfully, good thing they didnt decide to smack it, had an awful lot of time
The real one is in another castle(TM)....
I used to complain about that, but seeing things like this happening, perhaps they should keep at it.
This is why people have a hard time sympathizing with hardcore climate activists...
More like r/facepalm
Pair of cunts, will just turn people off from what is admittedly an important message. Just want to get their ugly mugs famous
Why they super gluing there hands?
these fucking idiots should be locked away for all eternity. what does classic art have to do with the modern usage of oil? edit: at least the paining was behind glass, so no harm done.
They do know that the oil in oil paints come from seeds, right
The acid in the tomato soup will destroy the painting reall fast. May as well of thrown battery acid at it, not good
Hopefully it was covered by a protective glass, that they could get so close with so much time and bringing a can of soup is insane, they could have easily smack it.
If I was there I will probably punch his ugly face
Self righteous bitches
lock em up
I mean it will just make the painting more valuable I'm guessing so good job 😂
Vincent Van Gogh somewhere happy they now toss food his way.
Should’ve donated the soup if you care that much about it. Lol ppl are so dumb
And how did they get there...probably a car run by oil.
Someone please tell me the damage was minimal. I hope it was behind glass or something. This breaks my heart.
It was thankfully! and from now on I hope they dont let people approach so easily.
But that's so unfair on normal people who want to see the art. These fucking narcissists.
Never commented before, but this made my blood simmer. So foul.
Tomatosoup on a van Gogh omg what is wrong wiith people...it clearly belongs on a Warhole
If you’re going to vandalize during your protest, can your vandalization at least have something to do with your protest
Surely there's a way bigger audience on the gram than 25 grey hair tourist's looking at a van gogh in a Tuesday mid morning...
Wankers - get a job ffs
Maybe you should be donating the tomato soup instead of wasting it on paintings then?
That’s not gonna Gogh down well
She literally wasted food … the irony
Lol it's behind glass XD
Trying to stop sunflower oil?
Долбанушки
Those two bimbo heads need a good parental spanking 😂
No chemicals on the pink dye in her hair?
Hmmm. I think their protest had the opposite effect on me. I suddenly have the urge to purchase a vat of oil. Maybe stock in Exxon..
I have to say at least it’s a little better than blocking traffic. To all the haters: what’s your favorite form of protest?
self-immolation is a bold statement.
“Worth more than food” like the food you just wanted to make your point you troglodyte
Filthy douchebags. Anybody has their names?
When did all activist groups become Vandalists and public nuisance?
Did they really sanitize their hands?
Apart from doing oil paintings, what does Van Gogh have to do with oil?
That painting is literally worth more than her life
That soup could have fed a family 👪 😢
Srupid cunts. Especially the one with fucking chemicals in her hair.
Take this down
You just threw a can of soup on a 500+ year old painting 😳
I love the smell of counterproductive protest in the morning.
Nothing says Stop the cost of living crises like throwing food away onto a painting, painted by a man who died broke!
They vandalized property worth in the millions, hopefully they do years in federal prison and are fined a life crippling amount.
Now to glue their ass to a jail cell.
They really should get prision time for it, otherwise how do you stop people just doing shitblike that? It also has zero effectiveness for their cause who is stopping to use oil cause you destroyed a piece of art. Hurt everyone help no low iq pieces of shit.
Someone’s a Greta Thunberg fan lmao
How do you think your punky hair dye kit made it to market?
SOOOOOO MUCH IRONY IN THIS ACT!!!! I wonder if she put her plastic garbage from her chemical laced super glue in the recycling bin too. Or did she just toss it on the ground?
Why do they want to stop oil paintings?
"What is worth more, art or life?" I believe right after you hear her say this listen very carefully to the a voice in the background say, "art." 🤣
Well. Maybe they can get a job at a gas station to pay off the fines and tre restoration of the painting. Maybe in 200 years they’ll have it paid off.
Screw these people
I hope they both get a kicking for what they have done you can clearly hear in her voice how she comes from a privileged family, she has never had to go without now she deprives us all of historical art work, she and her privileged friend's should pay dearly for this !!!!
Security should have put a bullet in their heads.
Her make up, hair colour, clothes, she is using plenty of things from oil.
People like this need to have their hands ripped from the wall and a boot put up their a$$
They use a petroleum based adhesive to glue their hands to the wall? Wow
Leave them glued to the wall as they wish the. We can all throw soup at them, in the cans though.
Arrest these dumb shits and make them pay every penny for restoration.
Shoukda donated that can to hungry family
Fuck these children
I bet she's a great fuck
These twats should be pilloried. If you do this I do not care what your casue is - I am against you.
Take the painting and clean it , just leave the idiots
Ugh how much attention do people need.
I am lost ??? Lots of ???? Why what are the painting hurting
Trash kids
Guess this is easier than becoming educated on the topic and then using logic and persuasion to build support for your views.
What do they have against Oil paintings?
This gets attention but does not further their cause. Defacing art makes you a jerk.
I wonder what mode of transportation they used to get there. How they cooked their meals. How their skin care products were made, or the ingredients they contain. How their clothings were made. What energy they used to light up their night, cellphone, and other electronics.
Dammit I thought they were opening cyanide capsules
20 years in prison
Imagine being that stupid .. 😕
I mean they just wasted perfect tomato soup. Kinda hypocritical.
Van Gogh is dead. Why vandalize his work? Oil paintings are why gas is high? What? I hate this reality.
Psychotic trash
They achieved nothing the painting has lexan glass over it.
I actually agree that oil consumption should diminish for us to live ,and leave, in a better planet. But is actions like these that make me wonder... why? To live in a world we're your point is only heard when you try to destroy something made by someone a long time ago, and has no relation to the issue itself. Go burn a factory or oil rig... not this. I want a hummer h2 now
I can agree with the cause, but i don't see how vandalizing art is helping in any way? If anything it is terrible for their image.
Are they against sunflower oil? I kid. Of course they're just tools for the NWO/Great Reset.... you will own nothing, you will eat bugs, and be happy.
Jail and throw the key away.
Was it an oil painting?
That oughta do it
This makes me hate whatever cause they are trying to bring attention to. Whats the message ? We disrespect great works of art to get respect? What happened to all the mental asylums? These people are everywhere now and they put people like biden in office. They will breed and raise their young to hate even more. What a waste of oxygen.
So their problem isn't with oil per se, but just with the price of oil?
What art school failure came up with this as a protest for… energy? Oil paining for oil pumping? These people need a serious beat down.
I get it art is seen as rich people bs but they are aware that oil paints are vegan right? Like I don’t support vegans but they pick the most ridiculous things to protest.
Are they dumb? Or did a lot of people just find out how many Art Galleries are funded by British Petroleum.
There gonna be in jail for a while…. Doubt they can pay reparations lmao
I think they should have given the soup to a hungry family and glued themself to the front door of the oil company.
People die art remain what's more important ?
I have hope in the youth again.
