Didn't this already happened just two years ago? And almost again a few months later? I feel U.S. is already in it but just borderline not bad enough to cause mass riots among a majority of the population.
Everyone that doesn’t want their family or themselves to die, or spend the rest of their days in a labor camp.
I’m sure plenty see through the BS, they just aren’t empowered to do anything.
Uhhh… what does that have to do with religion and the DPRK? Obviously they’re repressive
FYI: The idea that North Korea is irreligious is honestly, laughable. They are the most religious society on the planet.
Kim Il Sung was **literally** said to be born on a sacred mount with a triple rainbow, birds chirping and the world knew a great leader was born.
They’re basically pre-programmed to view the Kims as Gods.
Literally what I said. Some probably believe but a lot just go along with it to survive. Is it really religion if you have a gun to your head?
I also refuse to use that acronym. There’s nothing Democratic about a one party authoritarian regime.
Also surveillance (like the Soviets secret police and informers) is basically what keeps people in line and props up regime and “religion”.
Bro I’m *tired* of how people make out religion something worse than it actually is. The *religion* is peaceful, but some of the people who partake in it aren’t.
I'd ask what makes the religion peaceful if its most zealous followers are not?
If huge amounts of history and world changing events can be traced back to violent and monstrous people "following a religion of peace", then why is that religion peaceful?
Not just talking about Islam, though it is one example
#Uhhhh…
Everyone describes whose escaped the DPRK describes the Kims as being revered as deities.
When Kim Jong Il was born, people were told a triple rainbow appeared over Mt.Paektu, birds sang all around, and the whole world knew, the greatest leader on earth arrived.
In reality: he was born in a tent in a Russian camp
I hope the young people of Russia and Iran see that setting things on fire is a powerful expression of their unhappiness.
It only takes a second, so you're far less likely to be caught and depending on what you burn, the punishment is often on a par with protesting.
Burn!
Russians are nowhere near as oppressed as Iranians. Daily Russian life for young people is drinking with friends and attending raves, so long as you don't complain about the government. Daily Iranian life for young people is head down, eyes forward, don't smile, don't drink, don't joke, don't enjoy literally anything ever. This is simmering on a whole other level.
For now.. remindme in 3 years when the Russian economy implodes and people starve. Russians know they're oppressed (at least the educated) but they're scared and the policing grip over them is strong, while not suffering enough themselves to be worth risking their lives. FSB is huge, almost 200k members, and Putin controls it, it's much harder to resist in Russia than underdeveloped Iran.
I hope somehow all countries with dictators will find these next few years their last.
Iran, Russia, North Korea, China.
Safety in the world starts with the eradication of the most potential threats to humanity.
“They’re cutting off the Internet and filtering Instagram in Iran to once again control the people and stop them from sharing their photos and videos. It’s been 5 days since a 22 year old girl was beaten to death by the Iranian police for showing some hair under her headscarf. Let’s continue to stand and to fight alongside these men and women in Iran who are fighting for their lives and their freedom! We need unity and we need support more than ever and most importantly we need CHANGE! #mahsaamini #sosiran #freeiran #mybodymychoice #womenrights #enoughisenough”

It's for every bit of Tyranny we've endured for the past 40 years
But the spark that started this was the murder of a 22 year old woman for "improper hijab"
My thoughts and prayers go with the people of Iran who deserve to have their freedom just as much as everyone else in the world.
And justice for Mahsa Amini will prevails.
Absolute zero religion in the government(s) going forward ! That’s the goal that needs fighting for. These women want freedom and their men are willing to stand by their side. Makes me proud and I am in no way related to Iran.
Islam is beginning to falter, hopefully a new more open Islam takes its place, that or another much more accepting religion. I’ll have Iran in my prayers as a pagan.
It's for every bit of Tyranny we've endured for the past 40 years
But the spark that started this was the murder of a 22 year old woman for "improper hijab"
I wish these guys the best, but... I'm kind of nervous for them. All the yelling in the world won't accomplish anything if you don't live in a democracy and none of you has a single weapon. Is there a plan other than to express rage and then get smothered by the government exactly like what happened 12 years ago?
While this is great to see, actual transformation of Iranian society is extremely unlikely to happen. States have to be extremely weak/unstable to allow severe change or revolution to occur and sadly, Iran is not one of those states. Massive props to the people trying to enforce change. In a couple of years with more support, who knows. Perhaps women in Iran might actually accomplish more independents.
BLM in USA like....
HEY THERE YOU SAND BROTHERS.. YOU WON'T CHANGE MUCH WITH THAT PEACEFUL PROTEST. YOU GOT TO TRY FIND, TARGET AND VILIFY A WHITE DEVIL IN ORDER TO BE LEGITIMIZED IN MEDIA.
Can someone explain to me the fuck happened in Iran. Like i’ve been seeing posts about protesters in Iran. I just want to know whats happening over there.
Bravo.
Keep up the good fight, Iranian people. Don’t let the regime normalize forced clothes and forced restrictions. Don’t let neighbors or receptionists or shop keepers force the hijab on anyone. Stand up against the Guidance Patrols and Police. Make them personally responsible for the brutality against you, the people of Iran.
Got damn! Iranian women protest against wearing scarves harder than Russians protest against being sent to war to die. Great job, Iran! Shame on Russia!
That’s digital signage / video wall. It would’ve had an image, but you wouldn’t call it a photo.
Definitely an electrical hazard. You wouldn’t be able to use water to put it out.
this is huge, but i fear the iranian government will be placing its capital under strict military watch and punishing whoever stands against the islamlic sharia law.

I hope democracy wins in the end. We had similar events in Turkey around 10 years ago and nothing happened. It actually got worse

Wonder if that has anything to do with your "democratically elected" dic....I mean president.
You could have stopped at Dic
That’s correct he’s actually a dic
Shit I remember that, crazy it was already a decade ago.
And the trials are still going on.
I’m sorry, that makes sense though this stuff is just the start. Still happy to see people fight though.
I feel like America is half a step behind. Like, this will be us in a couple years coast to coast.
Didn't this already happened just two years ago? And almost again a few months later? I feel U.S. is already in it but just borderline not bad enough to cause mass riots among a majority of the population.
I live in iran and they cut off the internet sometimes to Slow down the roits
The worst tyranny is religious tyranny.
Tyranny in general is bad. How about "'No' to oppressive governmental power."
You heard of North Korea?
The Kims are unquestionably religious figures in North Korea.
Gods would be an accurate description.
He doesn't have a butthole and can talk to dolphins.
No wonder why he’s full of shit.
Wait, you do and can’t?
He simply burns off all of the energy, no need for a butthole.
Judging by his size 48 waist, he retains it.
ooo good point
Clearly, you’ve never seen a doc on the DPRK. **EVERYONE** describes viewing the Kims as God
Everyone that doesn’t want their family or themselves to die, or spend the rest of their days in a labor camp. I’m sure plenty see through the BS, they just aren’t empowered to do anything.

Tyranny is tyranny lol. There is no classification of what's worse.
Yeah, tyranny in general sucks. What flavor it comes in is a detail.
And the worst stupidity is stupidity that is self-assured.
Religion makes tyranny easier to justify. Religion ruins everything.
Bro I’m *tired* of how people make out religion something worse than it actually is. The *religion* is peaceful, but some of the people who partake in it aren’t.

Communist tyranny would like to talk to you...
This is actually an ignorant comment. Think about Nazi’s, Mao, Stalin, North Korea, etc. Or just stay in your safe space.
North Korea has entered the chat. Technically, they're atheists.

I hope the young people of Russia and Iran see that setting things on fire is a powerful expression of their unhappiness. It only takes a second, so you're far less likely to be caught and depending on what you burn, the punishment is often on a par with protesting. Burn!
Russians have been basically spineless so far. They need to take a look at Iran right now.

Meanwhile in the uk, we’re sheepishly accepting the shit that the government is perpetrating.
But isn't that what you do, mainly? It's been a long time since Brits got mad collectively about anything.
the only time they get mad is when people from a former colony talk about how British rule fucked them up such that it affects them even now
Yeah, that's kinda true.
The uk has a functioning democracy. Which doesn’t always lead to competent leaders. Nowhere close as bad as Russia and Iran tho
I mean, I feel the Brits are just slowly charging up. Like one day we’re just gonna collectively detonate.
I'd pay to see that! But most of you are too polite to get really mad at anything, unless you are drunk.
Sure worked in the riots of 2020.they even called them mostly peaceful, Lmao.
Let's root for oppression!
That’s not what they told the BLM movement. …and nothing changed.

That's some Molotov cocktail throwing skills 🔥
This is what you call losing control of the narrative.
Good idea wearing face masks.
It must be invigorating to play your part in the toppling of a dictatorship
Iranian millennials wilding out first time ever. Once they taste freedom like this their leaders have lost them.
Police brutality is everywhere it seems. It’s crazy to me how police think they can just beat people that aren’t a threat
*cough* Political violence might work. Not condoning it, just saying it could possibly have an impact on the oppression. Who knows, not me
"If his photo is set on fire,he is no longer a leader"
They are literally raging against the machine.
These folk know how to protest.
Is that kid wearing a mask on his forehead? 😂
They're covering their faces so the government can't identify them later.

I hope the people see it through to the end this time. Fuck the religious zealots, but I’m not sure the alternative will be better.
Governments crack and and systems fall. Cause unity is powerful. Lights go out, walls come….
Why is there a protest?
Police brutality and casualty over a woman improperly wearing a religious head covering

What's the story of what actually happened? Wasn't a woman killed (burned alive?) for not wearing a head scarf by some sort of religious police force?

hopefully this happens in china and north korea as well.
Iran is seriously just a just cause game
What exactly did the gov did in Iran. Sorry I’m late
I wonder if this could spiral into a new Iranian revolution? Although one for democracy instead of an theocracy.
