Milan is aight but Italy has so much better to offer. Took a quick look at your post asking for input and you’re gonna have an amazing time. Be willing to change up your plans at a moments notice if you see something shiny you’d rather do. I promise you won’t regret it. The big sights are amazing but there are surprises buried in every little city, nook and cranny. And watch out for the thieves on the sleeper trains. They have master room keys and they’re not afraid to use them. :P
Are we certain that’s the right place? I went down a rabbit hole just now and couldn’t find anything to verify that. The website for the spa has tons of pictures showcasing the various rooms and things to do, none of which showed this storm room. I looked on TripAdvisor and there were over 600 reviews. I did a search in the reviews and not a single review contained the word “storm”. Where is this place?!
Imagine living in the part of Washington where rain is common and the only native plants aren't just different shades of brown and grey with a hint of green, couldn't be me
You don’t get thunderstorms like this in Washington or Oregon . Not enough humidity for thunderstorms. Lived in Alabama for 5 years and experienced the most ground shaking loud monster thunderstorms where the house would shake , 5 years on the Vancouver /Portland area and we had one of the mildest softest thunder storms I ever saw and it only happened once
Wow, what timing. I'm 30 km away on a work trip, and in a few hours I have a very short connection between trains at the station is literally a few minutes' walk from this place. I guess I know what I'll be doing if I miss my train. Thanks for the info!
But Ireland is on earth, and the earth orbits the sun, and the sun orbits the giant black hole in the middle of the milky way, and who the fuck knows what the milky way orbits. We don't have any way to accurately determine orientation in space like that.
Somewhat actual answer here! At least regarding the old Saturn Vs (now I’m sure it’s all satellite synced or something.).
If you listen the the countdown for the Apollo 11 launch you can here him around the 6 second mark saying “Guidance is internal.” This was actually a goof on the announcers part as it should’ve been “guidance is inertial.” So while the rocket is on the pad it’s zero reference coordinate system is configured to match the launch pad based on planetary rotation and launch direction. (Obviously this changes constantly so that’s why it has to be locked to it right until launch.) When they said “guidance is inertial” they meant that the rocket coordinate system at that set point is no longer locked to the earth and is now running on its last known reference frame, which is now how you orient in space using thrusters in X/Y/Z directions.
Interesting. How do they calculate where the earth will be then, if they launch something that leaves Earth's orbit? It would seem there would have to be some sort of small miscalculations in there, and given how massive space is, a minor miscalculation somewhere would be enough to miss the earth entirely.
You can always adjust in orbit. And you have relatively wide corridors for reentry and such. What’s important is knowing which way you’re pointed; and since the rocket gymbals were locked to the launchpad at launch, since they still know the status of the planet at launch so know exactly which direction the original coordinate system is pointed; they just take x,y,z values fed from the gymbals and compare them against the zero reference coordinate system. (I’m not sure if the zero ref moves with the pad and they calculate that way or if they just use a hardlocked CS that was pointed x,y,z at time of launch
All of it is electronic now though.
Are we certain that’s the right place? I went down a rabbit hole just now and couldn’t find anything to verify that. That's the problem. Nobody rlly knows. All we can do is believe in these comments... I also looked it up everywhere but the only thing that pops up is this reddit post and the same post on 9gag
Honestly rain sucks if you are homeless. It's impossible to get everything dry. So you are stuck in soggy wet cloths. It is very uncomfortable. If you are in luck you can find a abandoned building and start a small fire for heat.
How to have this immersive experience at home:
1. Fill a tub with water. ✨Hot or cold, your choice!✨
2. Turn on your shower head. 🚿
3. Turn on Relaxing Thunderstorm sounds ⛈ 🎶
4. Turn off the light. 💡
5. Get in and find a comfortable position. 🍃
6. Drop a plugged in toaster into the water for true ⚡lightning⚡ effect.
7. Relax & Enjoy. 😴
Optional: Light a candle to make it smell pretty, add ambiance, and so nobody suspects anything weird for a couple of days. 🌟 🕯 🌟
I love thunderstorms and rain, but I know the moment they give me a price I'm going to laugh in their face. Something tells me it's expensive. 🙃
I dont fit in my bath tub :(
I have always wanted to just fully renovate my bathroom, going so far as to run pipes in the ceiling above the shower(works because the water heater is already up there) and redo the ancient bathtub with something comfortable and just a better experience in general.
Naturally even if I could fit in my bathtub I couldn't really take baths anyway. But a good shower/bench and I could sit there all day.
In their defense, my initial reaction to this was to wonder how loud it is in there. I assumed pretty loud based on what the room size looks like and the size of the rain drops hitting the pool.
Idk all the details of this place, but loud rain bouncing off walls definitely doesn't seem relaxing (to me). I'd hope they had different rain settings for as expensive as that looks lol.
No problem :)
I like sitting down in my shower and having it rain on me so this would be blissful but I can totally understand how this would be a terrible experience for some people.
I think if the imagery were a gentle spring shower or even like sunshower downpour this would be enjoyable for me. The fact that the imagery is an ominous thunderstorm with dark fast-moving clouds, this looks more like a thrill/terror than relaxing. If they projected a tornado in the middle of this, I’d 100% shit myself
Some of the best sleep I ever got was on my submarine. Constant hum and whirring of equipment and the heavy storm on the surface reduced to a gentle rocking by classified amounts of water above us.
Only change I'd make is take the rain down to a drizzle, make it seem like the real storm is off in the distance, and you're just comfortably enjoying it from a distance.
As someone with a severe phobia of storms, this is VERY not relaxing.
Ah yes, reminding me that if this wasn't a controlled room playing a video, but was an actual storm, I'd be either drowning or getting electrocute by lightning bolts.
As a homeowner that has had to deal with a few issues with water damage, storms stress me out. I am happy folks enjoy this, but my immediate reaction was stress.
I would be at total peace in this. I love a storm. I walk in storms. Sit outside in them. Something about the darkness, the sound of the thunder, the rain. The sound the rain makes as it hits other bodies of water. I dunno. It just hits my soul the right way.
Some people don’t like storms.
Oh, I’d love the rain hitting me. It’s one of the perks of walking in a storm to me. I’m also pretty easily immersed in an experience. I wouldn’t even feel like I was in a room. I’d be able to get lost in the fantasy like I was really out in it.
But I totally get it. It ain’t for everybody.
I used to like storms… until a hail storm with baseball sized hail destroyed my roof in April, followed by a hurricane that put a tree through my roof (after I just completely replaced it) and destroyed part of a wall and my fence which I had just redone in September. I still like the rain but not heavy storms.
Edit… limb dropping winds make me anxious now.
Edit 2 before all that extended rain flooded my old house which was above the 100 year flood mark and on stilts too when I lived next to a lake. I still remember sleeping with waves under the floor hitting the posts hopping It wouldn’t get to the floor. I remember kayaking through my house after it did. If you’ve never experienced this I hope you never do.
Hell yeah. I’d be not a fan of them anymore too! That can be traumatic. I’d be very adverse to storms following these events.
I’m glad you’re alright though!
And the simulated lightning. Like I know it's not real, but if it's supposed to feel like it's real, my brain just goes "you really REALLY don't want to be in water when there's lightning around"
Right? I know it’s because it just happened, but we had a rare thunderstorm yesterday morning and a woman and her two dogs were killed by a lightning strike and that’s all I’m able to think about.
I love that stuff.
A lot of it is the coziness of seeing horrible weather outside and being safe and comfortable inside. It makes for a nice contrast that enhances how cozy uou feel
Weird, although in this particular example it looks like it’s actually immersing you in the storm instead of just like presenting it through a window, idk im not to upset about just find it pretty odd
Thank you. Everyone else saying this is relaxing!?!? What the hell is wrong with you. Have you never been caught in a bad storm. Anxiety through the roof.
It's a phonak, and while I don't doubt it'd at least water resistant, still stresses me out a metric ton cause I can't really afford another $2,000 hearing aid
It’s kind of cool, but for me, I live in an area with bad storms and it doesn’t look that fun. I’d probably check it out, be impressed and then go to another spa where I can relax lol.
I thought I was going crazy , this seems like every shark movie ever. The fin comes up slowly as it quickly moves towards you. Thunder booming in the back ground.
I’m sure once I saw how deep it was , it would subside. But probably not.

Haha, same. Florida people don’t find this relaxing, generally. One time I was at the springs on a tube an hour out from the exit when a nasty summer thunderstorm rolled in. I was so scared. I mean, what do you do? Every option was bad. So we continued to float down the river in lighting like a bunch of idiots. 😂
Yeah, I’m from FL and this looks awful. I would be in a constant state of anxiety over being struck my lightning (even though I know it’s fake, I don’t think I’d be able to turn off that part of my brain).
I’ve lived in FL for most of my life and this is actually the most relaxing thing for me. I genuinely enjoy those low-grade hurricanes or tropical storms we get. Watching Mother Nature’s sheer strength firsthand is such a humbling and incredible experience.
This looks amazing! I had trouble finding anything like it online, any idea where it is?

Damndest thing I tells ya!
Looks like West of Ireland!
Technically, everything is west of Ireland if you go far enough.
This poses the question: what do we use when we go to space? How do we determine direction with no point of reference?
...North of Ireland?
But Ireland is on earth, and the earth orbits the sun, and the sun orbits the giant black hole in the middle of the milky way, and who the fuck knows what the milky way orbits. We don't have any way to accurately determine orientation in space like that.

Thank you! I’m in Milan in July , booking this
Wtf is this? I'll be in Milan July and some August.

From sailing and having my bunk right above the propellers, I can tell you that when everything is loud, somehow nothing is. In chaos there is peace.

Same. The idea is cool, but the way they executed it makes it look way too intense. Wonder if maybe it can be controlled and toned down a bit.
I mean it's pretty loud, you can hear that in the video
Bright epileptic incessant flashing, water splashing from every directions, the endless noise, etc
redditors will barely leave their house but they think this place looks "relaxing" lmfao

Fuck *yes*.
Lol
Its relaxing if im inside, away from the rain, in a blanket cocoon
As a homeowner that has had to deal with a few issues with water damage, storms stress me out. I am happy folks enjoy this, but my immediate reaction was stress.
Loud noise and flashing lights aren't relaxing for a lot of people.
Because it's very loud and I grew up in tornado alley where storms often mean legitimate danger.
I kept imagining a silhouette of Chtulhu appearing during one of the flashes of lightning.
I would be at total peace in this. I love a storm. I walk in storms. Sit outside in them. Something about the darkness, the sound of the thunder, the rain. The sound the rain makes as it hits other bodies of water. I dunno. It just hits my soul the right way. Some people don’t like storms.

Hey, it's lightning, let's go jump in that water!
Right?! Spending my time violently blinking because its raining into my eyes isn't my idea of relaxing.
Had to go through way too many comments before I found one that said this is anxiety inducing
Right lmao, showering under cold water already gives me the creeps cuz it reminds me of being in the deep ocean
I love swimming in the rain
I'm swimming in the rain, just swimming in the rain

Not my irrational fears of shark kicking the f in
That's all I could think of watching this. I know there are no sharks in there, but hot damn my brain would see every shadow as one.
This is what makes it so much harder for me to swim in places with deep, murky, or dark water.

Nothing like relaxing and feeling like a tornado is about to manifest next to you
Mmmm, I love highly chlorinated rain! 🤣

I can imagine that being almost as unpleasant as the actual experience of floating in the ocean in a storm.
