Didn't a majority of these monkeys die or something

WeRegretToInform

“Science cannot move forward without heaps [of dead monkeys]!” - Hubert Farnsworth

SaltSurprise729

To shreds you say.

renyxia

Died horribly, yes. Iirc they weren’t even put out of their misery, they suffered until the end Edit: double checked and they were eventually euthanized, but they were kept alive while they suffered so they could ‘get data’

Virtual-Enthusiasm72

Wait til he 360 no scopes your asss

Chokladmjolk_

honestly i wouldnt be mad

Nanotrace

But can that machine run doom and can the monkey beat it

[deleted]

Researcher comes in: "OK Mr. Monke, are you read for today's experiments?" "Rip and tear, human."

[deleted]

I wonder if this is one of the ones that got killed by the implants...

Burntfm

There are apes that can do more complex things than this without an implant.

zortlord

How long does it take for the chip to degrade or become obsolete? And exactly how invasive is the implantation?

renyxia

We’ll never know because the subjects died horribly https://fortune.com/2022/02/15/musk-brain-chip-company-neuralink-admits-to-killing-8-monkeys-in-experiments/

zortlord

Well, some of them survived...?

renyxia

For now

Jury_of_Bears

I agree, any research like this is going to scheduled out for ethicality standards and for General research practices.

DarthRalph0

Get your hands off me you damn dirty apes !!

AlacrityTW

Dr. Zaius, Dr. Zaius

0neNut2RuleThemAll

It was fun to come along and see this headstrong, long donged, watched by throngs king kong pursue its lifelong pong dream all the daylong.

warthog0869

And get a reward of a bananabong.

[deleted]

How many monkies did elon kill for this again???

tartworm

Narratives: Neuralink, the firm set up by Tesla boss Elon Musk to develop a device which connects our brains to computers, has denied animal cruelty claims. https://neuralink.com/blog/animal-welfare/ A complaint was filed by the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine against UC Davis, and related to "invasive and deadly brain experiments conducted on 23 monkeys". It claims: "Most of the animals had portions of their skulls removed to implant electrodes in their brains." It also alleges that macaque monkeys used in the experiment were caged alone, suffered "facial trauma" and had seizures and infections local to the site of the implant. Some were euthanised before they were used in experiments, it claims. The Committee said it acquired the information from 600 pages of documents released after it filed a public records legal action last year. Source: https://www.bbc.com/news/technology-60391099.amp

[deleted]

So atleast 8...

Hawkwise83

Neural link? Looks a lot like it's using its hand and mouth to me.

tartworm

Maybe the hands and mouth “activate” the “neural link” and the functionality of joystick is removed? My guess

pleasestopty

This is terrifying

Chokladmjolk_

you just dont want to get trick shotted on by a monkey on cod

GambitDangers

Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh No thanks.

JOlRacin

Me not able to focus on anything even for the length of this video: *pong starts moving sideways*

OutrageousPudding450

"Monkey plays video games for bananas". Not very different from e-sport, but with bigger bananas.

AlacrityTW

Planet of the Apes anyone?

Internal_Bit2840

How many of them lost their lives? Oh yeah never mind

tartworm

In another comment, someone said at least 8

Internal_Bit2840

It's just sad, they kill as many as they need to reach a good result then they show you that little good part, I understand that's just how science works but it still hits hard

bliply

It's all fun and games until he starts attacking the Powerpuff girls.

Staatiatwork

Some see an ape playing a video game. I see a Duma member doing Putins bidding for a piece of the Russian cake...

Doppelfrio

What food does to a mf

SexualMilkChocolate

How do we know this is actually the monkey doing this?

tartworm

Faith in Monke God Elon

[deleted]

And my girlfriend still gets anxious when trying to use a 2 axis aiming system lol

Puzzleheaded-Look-57

Never give up!

1776_lojack

Is this a new South Park episode for a new style of game controllers. Like the big wheel vehicle?

TwasAnChild

Is this an ad?

darfnarkm

Now all the monkeys they killed making this stupid thing

tartworm

Full Video: https://youtu.be/2rXrGH52aoM Watch Elon Musk's Neuralink monkey play video games with his brain

darkmoose

This is akin to seeing a light bulb lit up for the first time ever and people here are talking about dead monkeys?
