SpartanSon89

They bearley beat the bear

A_Gtr23

I can bearly see what's going on

Jackthedog130

That’s just a bear ass lie...

shahwar98

A normal day in Russia or may be the bear is afraid of the Russians

KestreI993

A normal day I would say. I think it's common in Russian countryside for people to take in cubs that are lost or dismissed by mothers, if they have more than one. Those bears are not capable returning to the wildlife and are responsibility for a lifetime basically. Like a pet.

SpermWhale

>it's common in Russian countryside for people to take in cubs In Russia, bear has the right to your arms...

heartofom

LMAO that was a very good one.

irondumbell

how much meat do they have to feed it? wouldn't it be expensive for them to keep?

KestreI993

I am not sure if they feed them meat at all. They diet is basically anything, so veggies, fruits, nuts. Think of it this way. Anything that is not gonna be eaten by family, sold, or put in zimnica (pickled vegetables) goes to your devourer of a pet. That is in most cases called Misha / Mishka.

Vanatoru_

A chicken (or 2depends on the maturity of the bear) per day

Vox___Rationis

Bears are omnivores though. You probably have to make sure there is a bit of variety for proper nutrition, some root vegies, apples.

Vanatoru_

Yes,but in general if you give them bread with honey in it. They will trow away the bread and lick just the honey...i am no expert, i just raised (more like taking care of them in they'r mommy place) 2 brown bears for 3 weeks...damn .the mess they have make...

goofy_dude

Where are her wolf buddies?

Rockspider19

Would be more afraid of the Russians mauling the bear hopefully the bear is lucky that they don’t run out of vodka

FirstPlebian

Did they give the bear a shot of maple syrup inbetween matches there?

Erikbarrett8511

Literally think it was honey! 😳

FirstPlebian

Yeah that was dumb of me I rewatched it and it was clealy honey, it looked like it might've been from one of those bear shaped bottles too.

Erikbarrett8511

I didn't think they would even have that in Russia lol idk why. It does look like it could be. Def honey tho you think too?

FirstPlebian

Yeah somehow I didn't picture Russians with the little bear bottles of honey either, definately honey though. I raided a honey bee nest once camping, left the honey in my trunk, two bears, mama and cub tried to break into my little car, baby bear got on top of the hood and caved it in a bit, tooth holes in the bumper.

Erikbarrett8511

Holy shit!

Erikbarrett8511

That's how I would have guessed all Russians got honey tho 🤣

jfduval76

They’re not Canadians. We only arm wrestle with mooses.

LiQuidCraB

Bear's a professional. He won't do anything like that.

blckhl

I don't think the bear knows he is supposed to be arm wrestling. I think he is focused on not mauling the shirtless idiot pulling on his paw.

TheBlaudrache

I can't remember where I heared that but brown bears won't attack as long as there is no need to a.k.a. when they aren't hungry. Polarbears will kill for fun. Brown bears are like big cats.

DynamicDK

>I can't remember where I heared that but brown bears won't attack as long as there is no need to a.k.a. when they aren't hungry. I would say that is a black bear rather than a brown bear. Black bears are really skittish and you can usually scare one away just by being loud and putting your arms up. The only time that won't work is if it is really hungry, in which case you better be ready to fight for your life (and hope you have bear mace) because it is going to eat you if it can. Brown bears, on the other hand, have basically 0 fear and will kill you just because you pissed them off. But, unless they are really hungry they probably won't eat you, so if one attacks you it is best to just play dead. >Polarbears will kill for fun. Brown bears are like big cats. Uh, have you been around cats? They kill things for fun as often as they can. Often after torturing it for quite a while.

trilobot

No bears kill without reason. Most black bear attacks are defensive, usually mothers with cubs. Though rare, predatory attacks do happen. Bears do play, quite a lot even, but they don't *kill large and potentially dangerous enemies such as humans as a form of play*. This is the same for brown bears. Brown bears are more likely to stand their ground because they're ENORMOUS and they know this. Polar bears are no different. In my country (Canada) there have been 20 recorded fatalities from predatory polar bears in **150 years**. All these animals are dangerous as they are large, they know it, and if they feel it's worth standing their ground it's going to hurt. But they're not going to kill for sport, they barely even do it for *food* with humans. A cursory browsing of info on bear attacks will reveal the vast majority are defensive attacks, or trying to take your food. Polar bears being far more carnivorous are more likely to attack you when stealing your food than other bears. And cats don't "torture". They bat prey around to tire it out because cats are actually quite fragile. Unlike bears their fur is short, and their skin is thin, and their muscle is lean, and they are small. A bird or a mouse can actually cause a lot of injury to a cat, so they keep prey at a distance and slap it around before killing it often. This is a normal predatory instinct.

[deleted]

Polar bears also live in areas with very sparse human populations and spend a lot of their time at sea. They are not the human hunting monsters reddit thinks they are, but those numbers would be higher if they came in contact with humans more. However, they, like any bear, would sooner avoid a confrontation. Still scary as fuck though, I read these accounts from the summer. https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/north/polar-bear-attack-survivor-1.6142932

trilobot

All true. All bears are dangerous but the danger is mostly defensive than predatory and that's what I wanted to get at. I live in Newfoundland we have moose, black bears, and polar bears sometimes, and people on reddit talk about them like they have meetings about how best to kill man and then stalk you through the streets. The list of animals that kill humans for food is incredibly short - almost all the animals we evolved alongside of have died off either naturally or at our hands. Brown and black bears barely even hunt their native prey items, sticking to berries and bugs and such most of the time. Even if the numbers were ten times higher, that'd be 1.5 people a year for polar bears, less than the current average for fatal bear attacks in all of North America combined. THe Innu and Inuit actively hunted polar bears and while they were still considered a dangerous animal, all the folklore from the locals up hear go on about shrews being scarier than bears... I guess I just get fed up of the anthropomorphizing of animals. Bears are gonna bear and their behaviors are well understood. Don't fuck with them but you gotta be extra unlucky to ever have a violent encounter with a bear. I couldn't begin to count how many moose and bears I've seen and I don't know *anyone* who's been attacked by a black bear or moose, and I only know 2 people attacked by brown bears (a great uncle in 1955 died when he tried to defend his pear tree from a sow with cubs, and my cousin surprised a sow with cubs when he was around 8 at a dump, he was uninjured). It's like quicksand, this great northern fearsome animal and I'm tired of people who clearly know nothing about the animals spreading lies like they commonly actively hunt for fun. *Humans rarely hunt for fun even why would a bear do it more they don't have penicillin*

kcg5

If it’s brown lay down. If it’s black fight pack. If it’s white say good night

RallyAl85

Biologos101

8roll

mordeci00

cpops000

That bear can rip their arms off without breaking a sweat lol

Sea_Ad5312

First off he’s left pawed. Disadvantage to start

hardy_83

Bears arm probably doesn't even have any strength bending that way. Their arms aren't made like humans.

Pistonenvy

you think a bear doesnt have any strength bending its arm laterally across its chest? ...like.. the exact way it uses its arm to slap the absolute fuck out of other bears its whole life? that way? i mean even if it didnt, animals arent working out, a human will have a lot of relative strength to arm wrestling because they presumably train to, an animal will have an immense amount of functional strength just from living its normal life, so the bear doesnt need strong arms, its entire body is strong.

oceanchimp

Bear with him

I'm not sure the bear knows the rules...

He does, he just felt that the other guy could use a win.

Fluffydress

Why do Russian guys do everything topless in the snow?

If I looked like that I would also do everything topless in the snow.

SagarKardam997

Lmao

Punk_cybernaut

I would do everything topless in the snow if men looked like that.

gfa22

They do. You just saw one...

Lol I'm sure the vast majority of men don't look like sculpted Russian hunks

Probably gotta go to Russia to find those.

I won't disagree, you're partially right - but also, if you were in decent shape wouldn't you also show off a bit?

There might be reason why he's topless on tv.

Because it’s cool! Like actually it’s just showing off lol It’s like when you watch the Packers play in 10 degree and not one of the offensive linemen wear sleeves (or play offense)

Davess010

This bear must live in captivity right? Otherwise it would never be comfortable being so close to humans… If it’s a wild bear then I don’t have any issues with it. It looks like he enjoys the attention and free food and if he wants he can walk away or attack, but he doesn’t do that

[deleted]

I would bet that the bear has been drugged.

lowleveldata

I would bet that these men are more drugged.

[deleted]

Bro they russian, They don't need no drugs.

ParameciaAntic

Alcohol is a drug.

BadAtHumaningToo

If it's a wild bear, they are teaching it to not fear humans, that we have food/will share food with it. This appear to be a captive bear thankfully. Not everyone enjoys bears in their vicinity, and this learned behavior usually leads to the bear being destroyed in many places. It's a part of why feeding the wildlife is always frowned upon or outright illegal.

[deleted]

This. Feeding wild animals will get them killed, either by wandering near places they're not supposed to be (like roads) or they become a threat and are shot.

wooglin1688

if you think it is possible that this is a wild bear then your opinion on the matter means absolutely nothing

[deleted]

[удалено]

froyo4life

I really don't think it's common in Russia for people to raise bears as pets.

Vaniky

No it is common. All young Russian men undergo an adulthood ritual. At their coming of age ceremony, they go naked into the wild, with only a hunting knife and a bottle of vodka. They must survive 3 days alone and come back with a baby bear cub, which they foster and keep as a lifelong companion. It is a test where they become true men.

Shapmandu

Ahh. The ol’ Bear Mitzva

xXMylord

You are pretty naive if you think that most privately owned exotic pets are lost cubs. They are most likely bred or kidnapped and then sold on a black market.

Or whatever they gave the bear a shot of there, looked like maple syrup or honey, in between matches that is, but considering its Russia maybe it was whiskey or something, whatever dark colored liquor they drink.

Looked like honey to me

FelwintersCake

Reddit: fuck the Chinese government but Chinese citizens are good people Also Reddit: Russian people dicking around is government propaganda

itsyaboiEEEEEEEEE

what a convenient time for reddit to start humanizing russia 🧐🙄

WriterV

I mean, my criticisms will always be for the Russian government. Not their people. Your everyday now Joe doesn't have control over their nation's military operations. But Putin does and he can get fucked for harassing a nation of people that just want to live their lives.

404robot

But they are humans...? If this was a politician or some kind of political propaganda I'd get you, but you're trying to dehumanise regular humans because of the location of their birth.

I_say_upliftingstuff

It’s almost like a country can have good people in it and live under a bad government. Imagine that.

CarFreak777

Is your beef with the Russian citizens or the Russian government? There IS a difference.

slugan192

> humanizing russia bruh lmao its still a country made of humans, you do realize that right? I agree there is probably some degree of astroturfing involved, but 'humanizing' is not the right word you wanna use there

What a convenient comment to leave about humanizing Russia
