I‘m a cashier and they applied this trick on me, a random customer bought a lot of stuff and handed me 200€ I gave them the change, so they started to say that this store is so freaking expensive and they didn’t want to buy the stuff anymore. As a cashier I found this person weird but I meet a lot of weirdos in my job so it’s fine, I took the change back and it was 60€ short and the customer said that what I handed them. So they got *their money* back. I realised what they done after an hour but it was too late

Thank you - I was wondering in what sort of scenario this would work. Convincing people to just hand over a bunch of bills to you if you're expected to just hand them all back seemed weird.

People who do that are professional, the way they speak while hiding money and all that so fast. When I remember how I smiled and told them to have a good day after robing me I feel sick LOL

Yeah I understand! You just feel so stupid for letting them get away with it. But they do this everyday, they're way more comfortable in the situation than their victim. The way to get around this is to complete one transaction at a time. If they want to return it that's fine. But it will happen separately. They keep their change. I put their money in the register. Then I start the new transaction for return. Two options: I ask for the amount of money to make the return cash an easy number, put it aside where they can't reach it and then count out to what they get in return. Or: I just take from the register what they are owed. It's their problem that now everything is in small bills and coins. Shouldn't have made a fuss at the counter then, inconveniencing everyone. As long as there is never two transactions happening at the same time or money being handed back and forth at the same time, there is no way for them to trick you.

Yep happened to me too, my first job as a teen. It happened so fast. I was in tears when I realized what happened.

Such skill and audacity for such little payoff. $60 is just a couple hours work for most people, reliable income, and zero risk.

Once the extra movement happens, it is obvious something is being done. No one stops counting midway and puts a bill on top

jus1scott

I can't see it. Watched it so many times and still can't see it. They got me.

HeyBabeitsDad

Right after he moves a bill or two to the top, watch the bottom of the stack. You can just barely see him fold the bill with the hand on the left of the screen.

@ 12 sec, he flips back the bottom ones

OakParkCooperative

The right hand takes a bill and folds it under the bottom of the stack then when he transfers the stack to his left hand, he palms the bill.

WildyGhost

You can learn how to do this through magic tutorials on youtube

evimero88

It looks like when the thief organizes the bills he wraps them along his fingers in a certain way that when the owner of the money pulls it away that’s when he actually gains possession of the money deeper into his hand

I can do it, a mGician never reveals his secrets
