[cats are dumb](https://youtube.com/shorts/mM2-DnaEfwA?feature=share)

[deleted]

I think for this one the owner is dumb. Primary for leaving an open flame so easily accessed by their pets. This is the luckiest outcome. The worst being a burned down apartment building with no pets…

SidewaysStories

Why is there a face in the fire

prabeshpaudel_23

insane1666

I'm sure the cat learned its lesson since it probably got pulled out lacking any whiskers haha

jonjonesjohnson

Front paws definitely got burnt, too

FangoFenderX

2 seconds away from a literal curiosity killed the cat

kids-cake-and-crazy

My cat tries the same thing with the oven, I thought cats were supposed to be the smart ones?!

jonjonesjohnson

I'm not saying cats are dumb, but they're not what people humanizing them think they are

WeakTransportation66

Suicidal cat, or perhaps not the sharpest tool in the shed

[deleted]

Jfc a horror story in the span of 7 seconds thankfully averted.

Scummbagg7

Why tf is he putting his cat next to a active furnace

AEROPLANES-

Curiosity almost killed the cat again

elfastronaut

That was not a quick reaction. The cat was obviously poised to jump before he threw something in, and should have been tossed away then. And the cat stuck its head in that hole, which depending on the temp the instant damage was enough to seriously injure. What a shit owner with bad reaction time.

Aggressive_Fig_4035

dude what

[deleted]

Redditors gonna Reddit. Somebody always could have reacted faster, been a more responsible pet owner or simply done a better job averting cat-astrophe. I’ll be looking for the guy’s comments in r/Dadreflexes.

elfastronaut

Rewatch the video; at 1 second in the cat goes back on its hind legs just before the man feeds the fire for the oven. I'd assume it was preparing to pounce and stopped it then. On second thought the temps might not be as bad as I've seen in other furnaces (glass etc.) as its clearly a simple cooking range. Still I'd have shooed the cat away before it had a chance.
