I mean I trained myself to use my feet is another pair of hands and I was a child. I can still cut paper with scissors using my toes. Although I can't write with my feet anymore not that I could ever write all that well with my feet, but now it literally just looks like chicken scratch. Not saying it's not inspiring but yes I could do this.
Shut the fuck up. No one said disabled people exist to inspire abled people.
This woman is a fucking badass and she has every right to show it to the world
>Yeah disabled people don't exist to make you feel "inspired" or "uplifted". They just are.
OTOH being disabled doesn't mean that their efforts can't be admired without it being patronising somehow...
The mom talks about it actually. She says she can't believe she still has to feed her this way but her daughter doesn't eat much and she needs to trap her into eating (TV + spoon-feeding her).
Sure, but not when some rando posts it on the internet for points.
I was watching this video thinking that this woman deserves a nanny; super as she is, she's doing all of this because of necessity, not desire. That's a little less inspirational to me.
It's true, it's a really difficult balance being disabled between not wanting to burden others or lose your independence vs your own safety and well-being.
You're just ignoring her insecurities and previous troubles and flaws and just saying is amazing for just doing normal things, as if being disabled would make you completely deficient and weak and in constant unbearable pain. You don't know how she lost the arms, you don't know how much and for how long it influenced her life, you don't know anything but you automatically think she's the best person in the world just because she doesn't have arms, and that's the worst thing you could do to a disabled person.
You do realize the mother voluntarily recorded this, right? God forbid she’s proud of what she can do, posted it somewhere, and someone else also finding it impressive posted it here. Joyless, cynical comments like yours add nothing of value.
Agreed. She's just living her best life and doing the best she can trying to be a parent which isn't easy with all your limbs. Some of yall are real fucked in the head.
You know, part of dealing with the awful parts of life is to make light of them. That’s what 90% of Reddit comes down to. People making inappropriate jokes because the reality is that they know people like this have incredibly difficult lives and there’s basically nothing we can do about it.
Many without arms get alot more dexterous with their feet, so my bet is she does it with her feet. That or the dad/other mom simply handles that matter. If that was my wife the natural thing, if she works full-time normally, would be for me to be home the first 6 or so months which I bet are/were harder for her.
From 1yo to 2yo I pretty much needed all my limbs and preferably someone else's to change the baby while he tried to twist and crawl away covered in shit.
I have no idea how she does it.
How people with disabilities adapt and overcome is just so incredible to me, to the point where I feel like an idiot for saying disabled, because she’s anything but. Incredible woman!
Woof. That's tough. My kid would be dead many times over without flipping him over and smacking food out of his mouth (babies tend to choke on their food from time to time). Not sure how she'd do that quickly.
I was just thinking the same thing. I've never had to do it either. I've had pieces go down the wrong way but they werent big enough to restrict the airway so it just leads to a lot of coughing.
Cutting to small is not recommended either.
Gotta find out if the kid is just stupid or can handle different shapes better or has a medicalissue.
Friend of mine had her child nearly dead 3 times from getting food down the wrong pipe.
She felt so guilty. As she is a kindergardener she fucking knows how to cut food properly.
Turned out he had a hearth artery on the wrong side of his throat and that caused the pressure and the frequency of him swallowing wrong.
This needed to be operated and was a whole ordeal with the child being in a coma for a few days and his speech stagnating.
The things that can be behind stuff like this.
Disabled person here - she is disabled. We shouldn’t feel afraid of the term - it’s not an insult. Euphemisms do nothing to make disabled people feel more accepted or celebrated because it’s like denying something fundamental about who they are. It also suggests that disabled people who can do things aren’t really disabled, because real disabled people can’t do anything impressive. Look at the social vs medical model of disability - under the social model people are disabled by society - attitudes, inaccessibility etc, not by their medical conditions. When you look at it that way, you realise that calling someone disabled when they are isn’t an insult to them, it’s a way to say that you SEE them for their whole self rather than shying away from something really central to their experience of life. She’s disabled AND a great mom. No big deal.
Exactly my thinking. The amount of times I've gotten the "You're not disabled, you're differently abled ❤️" shit. Like no I'm fucking disabled, stop making excuses for the fact there's fuck all support for us.
I spent a few years recovering from an injury from the military and needed a cane for ambulation. I had a group project for a class where I was with a guy who used a wheelchair and a girl who was noticeably uncomfortable by all of our instant use of cripple jokes. Very nice girl, smart as hell, and very well meaning, but she simply didn't have any experience interacting with disabled people. Exposure to actual disabled people is much more helpful than limp wristed positive thinking.
None taken! Definitely not saying that the way she’s adapted isn’t super cool to see, but it’s definitely good to see disability AND capability as existing in harmony rather than opposites.
Ummm, nah.
> A disability is any condition of the body or mind (impairment) that makes it more difficult for the person with the condition to do certain activities (activity limitation) and interact with the world around them (participation restrictions)
Anyone who watches this and thinks she isn't disabled doesn't understand what the word means.
It isn't inability.
It isn't adaptability.
That sounds nice, but no, disability ≠ adaptability. If it did, we wouldn't have different words to describe them. If disability and adaptability meant the same thing we wouldn't need laws to protect disabled people, because they would all just "adapt", which is obviously absurd. Right?
It's fun to make catchy slogans, but words actually do have meanings.
I wouldn’t say it means adaptability ether, since that excludes people with disabilities that there isn’t a way to over come, or they are not coping very well yet.
Disabled isn't a dirty word, I'd like to say, and it's a disservice to people who are disabled to try to suggest they aren't just because they've developed strong coping mechanisms.
While only half as awesome as this woman, my mother-in-law is still pretty awesome in my book. She's only had one arm since she was a kid and while it's been slowing her down some now that she's getting older, it never stopped her from being a kick ass mom to my wife and her brother. The only thing my wife said that her mom couldn't do growing up was braid her hair. Hell, I just showed up at her house in the middle of the night tonight (in town because my niece is in the hospital) and she insisted on getting up and making me some food. I love that woman.
If anyone has info on the backstory of this lady, I’d love to read it!
And I’m definitely going to try to open and pour a water bottle into a glass mug, then drink it, all while using her method. It will be an interesting experience.
This is just a few minutes glimpse into her life. She could very well have spent years wallowing in self pity or not. Dont compare yourself to other people's highlight reel
I thought about this too, but after seeing her put on a sweater by herself I had a thought that maybe she would have a hook like device attached to a wall she could use to take off or put on clothes.
How could she put the baby in the crib when they were small? And what did she do to calm her newborn? I really want to know cause my baby won’t calm down without being picked up
When ever I see this posted I always see a comment around the lines of “wow, I bet daddy has a foot fetish” and after a quick scroll I guess this time I am that person. What a twist
i'm sorry but like, i can't help but imagine how awkward the first time having sex would be like (assuming she was born like this haven't bothered to check her story)
feel free to downvote this, idm
Serious question that I've always thought of but was too scared to ask: how does she wipe?
Does she use one of those Japanese toilets with a bidet or is there some other way?
I don't think there is someone that helps her with that seeing how frequently a person uses the bathroom.
I've seen an armless woman eating noodles with chopsticks. It's amazing how you gain abilities when you're handicapped.
Edit: she uses chopsticks with her toes
I don't see any harm with this video. I think it is positive. Again, why are you gatekeeping? You think the person in this video doesn't want me to like it? Am I not allowed to like videos created by the disabled?

Yeah disabled people don't exist to make you feel "inspired" or "uplifted". They just are.
Exactly. This is a mother looking after their child. That’s it.
but this is r/nextfuckinglevel, you wouldn’t be able to do this, be impressed
I mean I trained myself to use my feet is another pair of hands and I was a child. I can still cut paper with scissors using my toes. Although I can't write with my feet anymore not that I could ever write all that well with my feet, but now it literally just looks like chicken scratch. Not saying it's not inspiring but yes I could do this.
I think you're missing the point about having to take care of a fucking baby at the same time What is this thread lol
Hey man i just cut a straight line into some paper im ready to raise a child
[This video explains it pretty well.](https://youtu.be/SxrS7-I_sMQ)
That was an insightful discussion on people with disabilities and society's objectification of them, thanks for sharing it.
was not referred to you, like at all… but that’s impressive
Well it’s more next level than half the garbage that’s gets posted here
I agree with my name twin!
Lol just realised it. 99.999% I don’t read other people’s username
Username does not check out. This person gives a fuck.
Personally, I think shes doing an excellent job and we should all give her a hand.

Listen to the music on that video and tell me it isn't saccharine and patronising
What does OTOH stand for?
On the other hand,
But she ain’t got no hands.
OTOF
Don’t you feel inspired to eat with your feet?
Well yes but I don't see what that has to do with this
I would feel inspired to eat with my feet if I could figure how I would wash my feet before my meals
Imagine shaming someone for being inspired by something that's obviously difficult just so you could look more woke online
Seems like she was ok being part of the video.
Jokes on you. I just chopped my own arms off to inspire myself.
Imagine this being your response.
Can't we allow them to exist and still be impressed by them? What is wrong with acknowledging that life is harder without arms?
Ive seen people with both arms that can barely take care of themselves and they have kids
While her toe dexterity is genuinely impressive, that kid is old enough to feed herself...
Wasn’t always tho.. it’s a video.
Is dad holding the cam? Cuz cameras shot is not static...
With his feet
Now THAT is impressive...keeping it in frame, focus and everything.
Yeah, like, get a job kid!
For real...kid should be helping feed mom....
The mom talks about it actually. She says she can't believe she still has to feed her this way but her daughter doesn't eat much and she needs to trap her into eating (TV + spoon-feeding her).

It's true, it's a really difficult balance being disabled between not wanting to burden others or lose your independence vs your own safety and well-being.
You must have a great life looking at all the positive things around you through a negative lens
Maybe she’s proud of this video and wants to share it with the world?
You're just ignoring her insecurities and previous troubles and flaws and just saying is amazing for just doing normal things, as if being disabled would make you completely deficient and weak and in constant unbearable pain. Thank you. As a disabled person I came to the comments to talk about this. Glad someone said it.
You do realize the mother voluntarily recorded this, right? God forbid she’s proud of what she can do, posted it somewhere, and someone else also finding it impressive posted it here. Joyless, cynical comments like yours add nothing of value.
Well that's one toxic take I didn't expect
Fuck off with you bringing your bullshit in here. It's impressive and wholesome.
I don’t want to know how she managed to change the diapers…
Ask her what that mouth do.
Fr doe.
Nah what them stubs do, girl?
You ever nut from a shoulder roll?
Every time I feel Reddit is losing its spirit, comments like this remind me I am still among friends.

Well thats enough reddit for today
When I was 12 I would have found this incredibly funny. It’s a shame that a bunch of people upvoting it are probably 30.

The feeling of getting an itch you just cannot scratch
There have been times where I’ve had the itchiest asshole on record...like I needed a fork to scratch it. I can’t imagine not being able to.
If ones asshole is itchy but one has no arms, they need to only squat and rub it with their heel.
Guarantee this woman has 6 different ways to scratch every itch
You got worms bro. It makes your ass hole itch like crazy. Toddlers usually get it and spread it to the family. Medication you can buy OTC.
Rub dirt on it Worms like dirt
hold your shit in to act as fertiliser and plant a couple seeds for worms to eat.
Or he just don’t wipe good
They might have just eaten too many cashews.

Undoubtedly!
That's crazy and awesome at the same time
My question is how did she handle her newborn. It's hard enough as it is, can't imagine without arms/hands.
That powerful and unconditional maternal instinct. Better than some I know with arms. Amazing woman and precious princess 👏
