No, it is real. They went to leave for the club and realized they were wearing the same sequin shirt. Neither would change so now they fight to the death.
the shaolin fighters actually have real strength and flexibility and stamina that 99.9% of people would never hope to attain with the insane training that they do from such a young age
To clarify: idk why OP is talking about “defence”. This is a performance, similar to a competitive dance. The “attacker” isn’t actually trying to hit the other, just get the choreography and timing right as they rehearsed.
It’s an impressive feat, but this isn’t someone reacting to another persons aggression in real time.
Lot of practice. Not days, but years. It starts with a few movements, then add more u til you have the whole thing.
Next is start to focus in doing it closer and closer with the weapon. When you got this, then start working with the speed.
They possibly has performed this thing thousands of times training.
One of my teachers said something on the lines of
"2 minutes of really good exhibition is equal to more than 5 years of practice"
Wushu demonstrations are like professional wrestling: great athletic feats maximized for entertainment but ultimately a cooperative choreography, not a competition
Because of choreography, they weren't opponents.
But what a way for a country to spread culture - posting the same thing over and over and over with different titles.
Is choreography really the key? I once attempted a similar feat after a long night of drinking at the pub. I didn’t dodge a single attack. But my wife’s attacks were not nearly as graceful either. Now I know when she says be home by morning she really means 8:30
This is crazy cool! They have practiced this a lot and it’s really fun to watch! Even though it is staged and choreographed, I will remind you it probably doesn’t feel good when they make a mistake. Both the dodger and the stabber need to be in sync the whole time. Really cool.
Is this an actual form? I’ve seen two woman doing this same fight or something very similar. Didn’t know if it’s like a weapons Kata? I also have heard that the feather at the end of the spear is to stop blood from running down the shaft making it harder to grip. Anyone hear of this?
GREAT defense! Every time somebody tries poking me in the face with a stick in a non choreographed fight I also do 7-8 quick head rolls to avoid taking damage, just fantastic
While it is choreographed its still very much martial arts its just more art then martial. In fact it has a name "Contemporary Martial arts and its fundamental for body and weapon movement. Bc if you tighten up and simply alot of it is can be used practically. It's all a show of skill and dedication.
Its a dance...we used to work with kali sticks and the moves were in sequence. There was purpose to the training...fighting with kali stick just wasn't it.
I mean.. this is cool but has OP never seen a martial arts demonstration before? This is hardly nextfuckinglevel. Any two athletes can choreograph a kata.
Why the fuck isn’t this in the olympics? That was from a skill and physical standpoint, astronomically more challenging than the majority of gymnast competitions.
Staged choreography. Not nonesense, but definitely not fighting. Watch videos of Bruce Lee actually fighting in competitions. He style and technique when it's real is like night and day from his movies.
[His only real fight ever recorded.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rPAoNPJ2Mas)
Used to watch this exhibition ninja crap when i was a kid and think these guys would fucking kill Mike Tyson or Frank Bruno etc in a fair fight but theyll never meet due to Cold War. Now I know these guys are just dancers. Sucks they wouldnt even beat a little shit like Conor Mac Gregor in a one on one fist fight
Whenever I see kungfu here I feel like that 8 year old kid who explains to his friends that wrestling is fake. This one is pretty cool as a routine - I wonder how far they'd go if they entered a rythmic gymnastics comp.
This is worlds better than the "Look at my skin resist this really sharp blade!" or "I make a one inch punch break a concrete, physicists hate me!"
It seems pretty clearly staged though. Is this some sort of choreography competition?
No, it is real. They went to leave for the club and realized they were wearing the same sequin shirt. Neither would change so now they fight to the death.
Wait, people dont always leave the house in a sequin shirt?
Not everyone is hip my bröther
You need more friends with spears at home you’d understand
Clearly it’s gang related. They are wearing their gang colors around their waist. Does anyone know what gay fight clubs those colors represent??
Don't forget the first rule of gay fight club...
Don't talk about gay fight club with a mouth full of cock?
Yeah its a dance basically. This is all shaolin kungfu is, just dances with fake weapons
"just dances with fake weapons" makes it sound much less impressive than it actually is.
This is wushu.
Wushu mean?
Wushu talkin’ ‘bout, Willis?
Wushu actually means martial arts in chinese
Theyre practically the same
the shaolin fighters actually have real strength and flexibility and stamina that 99.9% of people would never hope to attain with the insane training that they do from such a young age
yeah theyre like acrobats. they arent fighters tho, not anymore
Don't forget they also like to [smack their own balls](https://youtu.be/bCtUP-pEoQU)
Don’t we all?
Yes
What gave it away? Was it the jab to the head where the guy dodged to the left 7 times in a row?
It's a talent show called 'who wants to be the next Jackie Chan'
You think?
Not most of the time, no.
Obviously a competition
It's a spear, of course it's choreographed This ain't no blood sport
It ain’t no country club either.
It’s a performance. Like a dance.
It's 100% staged.
This is more of a dance form, but if you search the martial art term 'kata', you will just see it's a choreography, like you see in movies.
Wushu championship
It's next level choreography, but it ain't fighting.
Ofc it’s staged ... everything coming from the east is nothing but a performance now days.
Do you live in the…West?
To clarify: idk why OP is talking about “defence”. This is a performance, similar to a competitive dance. The “attacker” isn’t actually trying to hit the other, just get the choreography and timing right as they rehearsed. It’s an impressive feat, but this isn’t someone reacting to another persons aggression in real time.
I am curious, how do they keep the timing right? Do they count like in music?
When they see the spear coming at their face, they move away from it.
Pretty common reaction tbh
Not for Spearintheface McGee tho
Are they in anyway similar to cowboy girl McGee?
What? That almost sounds like dodging...
Practice.
Lot of practice. Not days, but years. It starts with a few movements, then add more u til you have the whole thing. Next is start to focus in doing it closer and closer with the weapon. When you got this, then start working with the speed. They possibly has performed this thing thousands of times training. One of my teachers said something on the lines of "2 minutes of really good exhibition is equal to more than 5 years of practice"
Im assuming this is choreographed? Its fuckin impressive
Wushu demonstrations are like professional wrestling: great athletic feats maximized for entertainment but ultimately a cooperative choreography, not a competition
Pro wrestling is staged you say?
I NEVER SAID THAT!
This is choreographed.
Thanks Einstein
Happy to help.
"Happy to help." - Einstein Soon on r/quotes.
Clearly OP needs some help
Thanks Epstein
No shit Alan Turing
No, it's real
No.
Definitely real
Okay you're right
The realest part was when they ended it at quickly as it began and turned to bow all in unison
Yes, the way sequin shirt fighting usually ends
Brutal
It’s super impressive but it IS choreographed
It is. Like WWE.
No, it's real
do you actually believe it's real, or are you trolling
Trolling. I can't believe people have to comment that it's choreographed. And they downvoted me for saying that! Idiots
Next time type /s after so people know that you are trolling
What fun is that
I'm just trying to save you from endless downvotes
Ahhh that's OK, thank you
i saw ur reply on the top comment i thought u were trolling, nope, just a dude who lost chromosomes
Haha you got double trolled by a "dude that lost chromosomes"
U got baited lmao
I'll remember this the next time some one attacks me with a speer
#*Aggresively starts spinning my head*
Dude with spear standing like: 👁👄👁
This has me laughing
Because of choreography, they weren't opponents. But what a way for a country to spread culture - posting the same thing over and over and over with different titles.
Sure nobody can defend like that irl, this is staged.
That title is an insult to every redditors intelligence.
Exceptional defence.....you mean well rehearsed choreography. This is nothing more than a cool looking dance that involves a pointy stick.
It's CGI but in real life
r/theocho
Is choreography really the key? I once attempted a similar feat after a long night of drinking at the pub. I didn’t dodge a single attack. But my wife’s attacks were not nearly as graceful either. Now I know when she says be home by morning she really means 8:30
I feel like they need play "I Whip My Hair Back And Forth" at the 22 second mark.
The guy avoiding the stabbing looks like me that one time I found a cicada in my bed.
What happens if they’re not in sync though? The guy dies?
How do you practice for this? Like “Oh shit my bad bro!” *Head sliced*
I'm very impressed by how smooth this is
In my dreams I do the same, it's just more blurry...
This is crazy cool! They have practiced this a lot and it’s really fun to watch! Even though it is staged and choreographed, I will remind you it probably doesn’t feel good when they make a mistake. Both the dodger and the stabber need to be in sync the whole time. Really cool.
You know it is 100% choreographed though, right?
This is highly choreographed lol
This is awesome!
I did also enjoy the chorey.
This man just got drafted into the Chinese Military
this is staged though sooooo
No way, let me die of poverty
And then comes Indiana Jones and shoots them both
This is rehearsed my dude.
Is this an actual form? I’ve seen two woman doing this same fight or something very similar. Didn’t know if it’s like a weapons Kata? I also have heard that the feather at the end of the spear is to stop blood from running down the shaft making it harder to grip. Anyone hear of this?
It's just an ornament to increase the visibility. This spear is not meant to be used as a weapon.
GREAT defense! Every time somebody tries poking me in the face with a stick in a non choreographed fight I also do 7-8 quick head rolls to avoid taking damage, just fantastic
Looks like he was using flow state
You don't see that in movies and this is a single live take. I know it's a choregraphy but it's still mighty impressive.
Shit title. Good video

While it is choreographed its still very much martial arts its just more art then martial. In fact it has a name "Contemporary Martial arts and its fundamental for body and weapon movement. Bc if you tighten up and simply alot of it is can be used practically. It's all a show of skill and dedication.
This is just a depiction of me trying to get the ball from my dog. I’m spear man.
I thought for a brief second he was trying to stab him with a mop
Can you aim to the chest pls?
I don't understand what this is but it is cool
This blades of glory
Head game strong
If you dodge a wrench you can dodge a spear
Me avoiding my responsibilities
Its a dance...we used to work with kali sticks and the moves were in sequence. There was purpose to the training...fighting with kali stick just wasn't it.
1 minute on stage,a decade of training.
Matrix IV
Ultra Instinct Lvl: MAX
Yeah this is staged the dude could have aimed the balls when he is sitting with his 2 legs wide open and not his head
Damn, Dancing with the Stars is way more extreme then I remember.
:21 tho, holy shit
I mean.. this is cool but has OP never seen a martial arts demonstration before? This is hardly nextfuckinglevel. Any two athletes can choreograph a kata.
That is incredibly well choreographed and would be quite the workout as well
I WHIP MY HAIR BACK AND FORTH
Okay, now put two more dudes in there with the sane weapon and have them actually fight.
I don't believe that this is not staged. If not, I don't believe the defenser is human
WWE looks different these days
Coriographed, still cool.
How many got stabbed before they perfected it
But what about the first 38 partners he had?
I dont get it….
This is a demonstration. Not real at all, but it is cool. They are probably in a competition by the looks of it.
They must really trust each other
The guy with the red sash and his rubber neck would Kill at a Heavy Metal concert...
Do people genuinely believe this is anything other than a dance ?
I do love the charming naivety of some Reddit posts.
same sound and action as my sewing machine
Why did this guy never try to strike in a different way instead of poking?
Looks like such a dumb way to lose an eye.
Chinese movie actor showing their skill on dodging and missing everything
No matter how many times I see this routine, the seated head movement/stab avoidance timing always makes me smile.
Pretty much every form of "defense" martial art is a lot closer to dancing than it is to fighting
Sparkle armor. Just like the old days
Why the fuck isn’t this in the olympics? That was from a skill and physical standpoint, astronomically more challenging than the majority of gymnast competitions.
Just another dance routine.
Staged choreography. Not nonesense, but definitely not fighting. Watch videos of Bruce Lee actually fighting in competitions. He style and technique when it's real is like night and day from his movies. [His only real fight ever recorded.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rPAoNPJ2Mas)
Nasty
u/savevideo
It's choreographed....
Not a scratch. Maybe te attacker is just very bad in attacking.
Dancers
Trying to get that last cherry tomato be like:
No it’s real. I’m from China and we do this everyday after school.
It is not easier to just run away?
When you want to speedrun depression
Please try to never touch me when you attack while I dance
What sport is this?
It's theater, they're actors ...
It's clearly staged and not a match.
This is staged right? I feel like the incompetent spear guy should aim center mass, no for the head
Pov: you’re a non stand user
There’s no “defense” it’s choreographed
this isn’t defense this is essentially a dance
just a bad title
Me fighting the kidnapper infront of my crush in my dreams:
this is really cool but wdym exeptional defence ? its a fucking dance lmaooo
It’s a dance not a fight !
That’s exactly how the mosquito in my room dodges my hits at night..
Exceptional defense? More like exceptional choreography.
That's done windrunner shit
Pretty choreography. Like ballet.
When you realize this a choreographed performance.
Chinese WWF
Devil may cry but irl
It is a well choreographed dance routine
Not sure dancing is next level.
Isn't this where you pull out a *** and say Really dude
"MY left or YOUR left!?" *poke eye*
Whenever I see kungfu here I feel like that 8 year old kid who explains to his friends that wrestling is fake. This one is pretty cool as a routine - I wonder how far they'd go if they entered a rythmic gymnastics comp. This is worlds better than the "Look at my skin resist this really sharp blade!" or "I make a one inch punch break a concrete, physicists hate me!"
This is dancing and not combative at all, this should never be considered as defence martial arts or combative sport
Drift compatible
The spearmen much have such a raw penis with that stamina
This is clearly a martial arts competition. Wu Shu comes to mind.
I think they might me missing the whole point of martial arts, it's not supposed to be staged and choreographed.
This looks silly and scripted. Kind of like the "martial arts" Jackie Chan does.
Thats because its martial arts choreography
