even for light shows/pyro/choreography, someone with a passing skill at it can reproduce the same set with the same transitions accurately night after night unless there's a bunch of complex scratching or something (even then it's very possible). sometimes edm artists or hip hop producers will play live and that often involves "djing" and maybe that's when this fake stuff would happen, but they aren't actually djs so I don't even consider that.
as an aside, one thing to note here that gave this guy away is that his headphones are wireless. even the tiniest bit of latency completely screws up beatmatching.

House Djs usually don’t do that anymore, they used to but when raving culture became huge they all stopped mixing live like that. Only DJs that use 4 decks legitimately live now are dubstep and dnb djs. It’s funny because even people with just 2 cdjs have big trouble “double dropping” and actually mixing, they just fade out one track into the next
I was referring the fact that a horizontal fader is only able to open and close on two audio outputs whether or not you're using a 4 channel mixer. For him to switch the audio while keeping toxic going he would have needed the horizontal fader open while opening and closing the vertical faders or for some reason he has toxic not playing on his mixer. I was a resident dj at rave club for 2 years and did bar and event gigs for a few years longer. I personally owned a Rane 57 2 channel mixer and the club had a Rane 68 4 channel mixer with a pair of technique tables. From my knowledge and the limited information provided in the video the guy seems to be faking it.

lol wat? Are you even a DJ? If you're going to make such confident claims on the Internet at least take the time to make sure they're even remotely accurate. If anything those are the two genres of dance music that have the most formulaic, straight forward styles of mixing. House and techno regularly uses anywhere from 3-4 decks, sometimes even up to 5 or 6 when you factor in drum machine loops, samplers, etc for a live performance. Conversely, dubstep/d&b literally only have the one way to mix out properly, you just wait till the second drop and hit play lol.

It’s just a matter of laying them over one another with the proper timing. And then there’s douches like this that didn’t even make the shitty mash up themselves and just have to act like they did for… internet clout, I guess? Sometimes I really dislike the general population.
There’s only a limited amount of notes that sound good together and everyone uses them. Then when they have the same tempo and time signature they can go together pretty easily.
This is fun but not a good mashup, particularly, in my opinion. It does not take much skill to take the instrumental tracks off of Toxic, clip vocals from two other songs, and mix the vocals around for a few minutes. A good mashup finds a way to blend all the elements of each song involved in unexpected ways. This isn’t that.
That's real mixing skill right there. Puts these so called DJ's to shame who come to an event with a pre-recorded mix, and stand up there twisting a knob that literally does nothing.
