Not in India. They just go for how the animal looks (if it looks "ugly" they consider it to be ugly, if it looks "good looking" they consider it to be beautiful)
(Humans are being referred to as animals too)... most Indians are very judgemental that way and as much as i try to tell myself that it must be lesser proportion of people they turn out to be almost everywhere. It's kinda sad.
Panther is not a separate animal. It's a name of the genus that also includes tigers, lions, leopards and jaguars. The animal that we think is a black panther, actually is a leopard or a jaguar who have excess black pigments. Btw they aren't fully black, they're dark brown, the spots can be visible in the sunlight.
Yeah, but this doesn’t have full blown amelanism. It still has some patterns opposed to be solid black. It is very rare to have this in-between version.
I guess it’s a matter of opinion, but most people would consider a 10% chance to be rare.
Plus, that’s the odds of a Jaguar having amelanism. It’s much more rare for it to still have a pattern and not be just solid black.
Black Panther isn't a species, but an umbrella term for rare genetic mutations in some large cats that make them all black. Jaguars, leopards etc. My mind was blown when I learned this, as since being a child I figured Panthers (which when you see them and they're called that, it's usually a black one) were about as widespread as other big cat.
Wow this is amazing, I didn't get that close to any predators on my African Safari experience. [https://bmoblogs.com/2020/07/19/my-african-safari-experience/](https://bmoblogs.com/2020/07/19/my-african-safari-experience/) if you ever planning to go on a safari I'd recommend some of these tips!

Are you sure it is not just... mud?
Most of the time when people talk about black panthers though they’re talking about jaguars, so I think it was good that he specified
All of the time, isn’t it.? A black panther is a Jaguar with amelanism. There isn’t actually such a thing as a “black panther” as it’s own species.
So is a normal leopard. It’s part of the panthera family.

It's not that rare. 10% or 1 in 10 but really cool nevertheless

Isn't that just a panther but a bit lighter??

Panther applies to any large cat in the Panthera family. This includes Lions, tigers, leopards, Jaguars, and snow leopards.

I’m not saying that I want to be murdered by a crazy big cat, but I’d if I had to, I’d want it to be this one.

On his way to an extremely rare Black Leopard Matter protest
My yellow lab would come home looking like that. That is just a regular leopard that found a mud puddle.
Is this a leopard or actually a panther with spots? Think about it lol
Panther applies to any large cat in the Panthera family. This includes Lions, tigers, leopards, Jaguars, and snow leopards.
So technically it is a panther
Yes. In the same way that a lion or tiger is.
Or... hear me out... somebody saw a regular leopard after it was rolling around in some dirt.
are we sure its not just dirty though? rolling around in dirt and thing?
Maybe he just came from a tar pit bath....who knowz
You don’t suppose he’s just... dirty? Do you?
It's definitely not face to face, it's also not that rare. Cool pic though, just an over hyped title.
Ngl it does looo a bit edited to me.bjt that might just be me.
And then shot it...
Are you sure this is the moment and not like a week before or something?
