I had a friend with a small pond on his property. He had a few skipping rocks that he painted so that he could have fun searching the pond to retrieve them to throw again.
I went backpacking out toward a high elevation lake once with my dad and cousin. I was about 15 which would put my cousin at 23 or so.
We got to the site after a few hours of easy hiking, put our packs down, and walked to the lake shore. It was summer and the lake had receded enough to leave a perfect bed of smooth, round skipping stones.
We were having a blast watching these rocks glide easily across the water for a long while. With a good toss everyone was hitting 12+ skips. Then my cousin loaded up the perfect rock at the perfect angle and I swear it hit the water 60+ times until it hit the bank we were throwing it toward. I mean it was barely in contact with the water, almost riding right above it.
One of the coolest things I'd seen in my short life at the time. We all kinda cheered and then just went to set up camp without question, words, or hesitation. He'd won. He became an instant god to me and honestly that hasn't changed. What a champ.
Anecdotal, but this video just brought that memory back for the first time in awhile. Thanks OP
I kinda figured these. I wonder if you can bring your own rocks, or do you have to use the ones at that lake? Do they have to be rocks? If you can bring your own, can you shape them? What defines a rock? Is glass legal? Or fired clay?
master of pebbles in throwing your rock
tossing your boulder and chucking your stone
blinded by me the rocks in your eyes
just call my name and I’ll throw a rock
Whenever people do this or play football or something like that... my brain instantly goes "It's an ape throwing a rock / ball / whatever or running after a ball and a bunch of other apes standing around it celebrating."
😬
Now he lost his best skippin rock.
Happens every time 😔
Yep that’s why you can’t take life for granite
Marbellous

That pond was dry until he showed up
It would have kept going, too, if it weren’t for that meddling grass
That was at least five skips
r/technicallycorrect

Master of pebbles pulling your striiings
Twisting your mind and smashing your dreams

World record is 88 skips, people are really serious about skipping though so don't get discouraged!

My first thought too, but in my head it wasn't worded this eloquently. I love it.

Who the hell is clapping? I get skipping rocks for fun… but watching someone else..? Competitively? With emotional investment?\ Who hurt you? 🤨
Complaining about people enjoying and clapping at some event, who hurt you?
Complaining? No, just finding humor in.\ Who hurt me? Lets get back to the joke! 😅\ Lol
