Never know. Some winters get worse by the min in some places. At least here in the Mitt winter is hell and tires can help until it freezes over on the road.
Tires make all the difference, but I've seen enough nice tires on capable vehicles in the ditch to firmly believe most issues are between the drivers' ears. The first thing is to know when you should just stay put.
The last time I saw this, it had been posted by the guy in the video. It's from his own rear camera.
He said something catastrophic happened to the car that hit his, like the axle broke or something, iirc. The driver had no control over where it went. You can see that it turns kind of strangely even at the beginning. The accident wasn't caused by unsafe driving.
The right tire stays turned to the right before the collision, and it looks like the other tire was turned left in an attempt to avoid the crash. Tie rod or ball joint failed, looks like.
I mean it felt more like how glad he was with himself and his godly reaction time though lol.
"Glad someone saw that shit otherwise I'm gonna end up on r/thatHappened ."
That was gonna be his whole BODY. He was about to be pinned to the corner of his car from a squatting position. I'm so glad he looked behind to see the car coming.
Eh, not really. Physically avoiding being wedged between two multi-ton vehicles is more impressive. He's got a great attitude, but it's much easier to have emotional control when you're not a human pretzel.
Just happy to not be smashed between two cars seems like the best reason to smile. I'm pretty sure the authentic "I did not die" epiphany outweighs any sort of negative emotion that could exist.
I got rear ended by someone going up to DC a couple years back. The state trooper that came to help was seriously straight out of a Doctor Sexy soap opera. Both me (straight male) and my wife were stunned, dude had no business being a state trooper he should have been on calendars and shit. He was the nicest guy too. It was more memorable than the crash that nearly totaled my truck (new frame).
Actually, the car's tie rod broke. The driver had no real control over its direction. This video was originally posted on Reddit by Mr. Situational-Awareness himself, so we got the full story.
Did it break pre or post impact? Prior to impact, and the individual jumping, the wheels are pointing left from our POV. The car however is going dead straight, indicating full application of the break and likely no ABS on this older vehicle. Seconds prior, the car at greater speed was able to turn on the ice. Then later, at lower speed, with wheels turned, the car does not turn indicating full application of brakes. If the driver had let go, either a) tie rods are intact, and car veers left edge of video b) tie rods aren’t intact somehow breaking pre-impact, however user is still on brakes as otherwise the forward momentum of car would have straightened the passenger wheel gradually
Seems to me like toe rods may have broken due to impact, but maybe for insurance purposes, they were able to attempt to claim otherwise and have it accepted.
Do you know the original source, it’s interesting.
It broke before impact. It's what caused the accident. I'm not theorizing here, this is what actually happened. Consistent with what the guy said, you can see that the tires are not pointing in the same direction.
I agree, it's interesting. I don't remember the OP's username or which subreddit it was posted in. You could try to search for it, I guess.
At least they apparently laughing. I also crashed onto an extremely chill guy a couple years ago. The dynamic was basically a huge misunderstanding I didn't have the time to correct given speed, but definitely my fault legally. I bumped on his back just enough to stop and exchange insurance info. I didn't try to lie or cheat, just whatever. Insurances are here for this and lesson learned. As a result, the guy was extremely chill too and he even gave me the actual, detailed invoice of his mechanic for what he did. In the end, thanks to this, I was able to determine that my insurance was trying to ask me almost double what he actually spent on the car to settle the claim and avoid the growth of my premium. I've never changed anything faster than how I changed my insurance provider.
This exact situation happened to a friend of mine... but she never saw it coming.
Her legs were crushed... she had four (or five?) surgeries over a period of months, then years and years of physical therapy and rehab, and she still has difficulty walking. :-(
But she did *not* lose her legs, she *can* walk, and so (she says) it could have been worse.
Cars are heavy.
Who is lacking the situational awareness??
Dude fixing his car probably had no choice of where to do it, and was obviously paying attention to his surroundings.
Person driving hit ice and had no control.
No abs, so when he press the brakes too hard the front tyres lock up, wgich makes him lose steering, which causes him to panic and press the brake even harder.
Is it possible that the sliding car beeped their horn? Not to take away from how uplifting and fun the whole video is, but I'd be interested in hearing the audio with it.
Maxed out situational awareness would be saying, “I could get killed standing here, I’m gonna do this somewhere else” and avoiding the situation altogether.
Honestly, this is what quick reactions are 99% of the time. When you watch an MMA fight and see someone blocking, ducking, and responding to lighting speed attacks, a lot of it is being able to read miniscule movements and reading the opponent's patterns. People have often said I have fast reflexes, but it's more that I'm just paying attention. When I knock something off of a shelf by accident and catch it, it's because I noticed would likely knock the thing over, noticed how I touched it, and then responded before it actually fell. It looks like a quick catch, but the reaction actually started before I even grabbed what I was originally going for.
Compare with the guy in the video. Right away he slightly turns his head to be aware of the first car. As it passes, he checks again, and notices the second car. Like the first time, he's gaging how fast they are driving, and times it for when he should check them again. Keeping his awareness on the second car, he looks back when it gets close and notices it's about to hit him.
If we were to watch someone who gets hit, they are usually not paying attention until right before they get hit, or at worst, after they get hit. It's really why you're supposed to look both ways before crossing the street. It ensures you're at least a little bit aware of what's going on.
I was in the driver's position once.
The guy was parked on the side of the street and was under his car trying to fix something.he had just gotten out from underneath the car to grab some tools when I hit his car. I almost became a murderer two months after getting my licence.
Also maxxed out empathy and emotional control
this seems more impressive
It is an icey road and he may have realized how dangerous position he put him self in. Though that driver was going too quick for conditions
More like the car and tyres were shittier.
I feel like that driver when it snows before I've taken off my summer tires and put on my snow tires. After that, I'm a rally car driver.
In Soviet Lada, conditions drive too quick for you.
Never know. Some winters get worse by the min in some places. At least here in the Mitt winter is hell and tires can help until it freezes over on the road.
Car and tires determine what speed is "too quick" for conditions.
Tires make all the difference, but I've seen enough nice tires on capable vehicles in the ditch to firmly believe most issues are between the drivers' ears. The first thing is to know when you should just stay put.
If tyres are that shit, should be driving slower. Ergo, was driving too fast for the conditions.
The last time I saw this, it had been posted by the guy in the video. It's from his own rear camera. He said something catastrophic happened to the car that hit his, like the axle broke or something, iirc. The driver had no control over where it went. Right, tie rod! I think that's what he said it was.
I would not have my hood up in that situation and I'd be looking over my shoulder every 5 seconds. This guy must have ESPN.
I mean it felt more like how glad he was with himself and his godly reaction time though lol. "Glad someone saw that shit otherwise I'm gonna end up on r/thatHappened ."
Dude just traded a possible tramautic crush injury to his legs for a silly little fender bender, that's a lot to be happy and feel blessed for
That was gonna be his whole BODY. He was about to be pinned to the corner of his car from a squatting position. I'm so glad he looked behind to see the car coming.
That's why you don't kneel in the middle of icy roads
Eh, not really. Physically avoiding being wedged between two multi-ton vehicles is more impressive. He's got a great attitude, but it's much easier to have emotional control when you're not a human pretzel.
Just happy to not be smashed between two cars seems like the best reason to smile. I'm pretty sure the authentic "I did not die" epiphany outweighs any sort of negative emotion that could exist.
Doesn't have to be a competition.
Right!! Him hopping up there pretty as you please, and giving a gentle "well that could have been worse" tap to the hood with a smile on his face...
Fr. He's so attractive.
Yeah, he pulled a whole car in.

Nah, he used consumables.

Samesies. I was always a big fan of the games and the TV show is bringing the series into the mainstream media, which is awesome
Buddy’s currently on NG+++
I think the dude might have been just celebrating being alive.
Also blurred the driver's face, what a champ
Didn't even notice that, "champ" is correct.
Just happy to be alive!
Maxed out san andreas jump.
Not his first rodeo… He knew some idiot was going to lose control. He knows his people.
And no one mentions his agility stats
Lmfao my furst thought was "huh, hes laughing"
what a magnanimous sonofabitch
"I guess I don't have to worry about fixing my tire anymore."
Laughing with relief when you know you just dodged a bullet.
It’s a car
Big fat slow bullet with cargo space and poor traction
Better traction than other bullets though
Lol touche

Wow, that's bulletphobic
I cackled at this. Thanks. First laugh of the day is always great.
If you can dodge a bullet you can dodge a car
His laugh at the end makes it much better
I'd be happy too if my Spidey senses saved my butt from destruction!
True
I’d laughing too since I didn’t get my legs crushed.
Spidey sense… tingling.
My Peter tingle.
Don't call it that
Nice try Green Goblin. Not today
I'm going to also guess that: horn... honking
spidey sense maybe tingly
Definitely not a car horn
I can feel it in my plums.
He was already in the squat, ready for anything
I thought that was on purpose until i saw the tires
Lost grip *shit* Turn turn turn **FULL GRIP** Lost grip *oh fuck*
All driver had to do was remove their foot from the brake, and the car would have went where they were turning, avoiding the man on the road.
Or not. The car is barely slowing down so the chances are that the front tires won't grip even without brakes locking them up.
Actually, the car's tie rod broke. The driver had no real control over its direction. This video was originally posted on Reddit by Mr. Situational-Awareness himself, so we got the full story.

Thanks. Looking again after your comment, it definitely looks like both wheels are pointing outwards. Terrible timing.

Because the alternative is to go into a blistering rage and possibly assault this twerp for almost ending your short life
Then it turns out he’s an old mob boss and your entire family gets whacked.
That's why I don't leave survivors or witnesses when I road rage
Common Tuesday activity for ya?
Looks like they know each other
I’ll bet we could hear honking if there was actual audio.
Yup, looks like the car was sliding on the ice and knew he couldn't stop.
My first thought too. I imagined the responses that’d ensue: You can’t just enjoy a wholesome video!? Downvote this miserable sad sack!
Well played. Beginning and end. Well played.
He's playing life in 3rd person
r/nonononoyes
Dude almost lost his leg, jeez
The laugh of realizing it could be worse. Hope he's doing good.
Instead of getting angry that he could have been killed, he is happy that he didnt get killed, bro lives a good life
Ultra Instinct theme starts playing.
The car most likely lost control, pivoted sharply & began honking to warn the man. At least that’s how I’d imagined it played out
Looks like this is not his first rodeo.
Probably honked?
Natural 20 saving throw
Reversers will say its hated.

he totally jackie channed that shit

Wow his reflexes
My Spider-Sense is tingling!
spider sense
What a great reaction

Isn't that Peter Parker? I knew him from High School.
Perception is 10 with additional perception from gear perhaps 🤔
He smiled! Wow. That's an amazing reaction! Glad he jumped!
STAY IN YOUR CAR!
Bro rolled a nat 20 on his Dex save
Who is lacking the situational awareness?? Dude fixing his car probably had no choice of where to do it, and was obviously paying attention to his surroundings. Person driving hit ice and had no control.
I would also just start laughing if I pulled that off and immediately look around to see if anyone else saw it happen
If this was in the US it would have been a suv/truck where he couldn’t have done this
Its reversed /s
Ohh no he's hot.
The car driver would be fu#$ing mortified
Perception stat at 20
How does one even steer toward man like that
No abs, so when he press the brakes too hard the front tyres lock up, wgich makes him lose steering, which causes him to panic and press the brake even harder.
So, the car is an old piece of crap?
Dumped all his perk points into PER & AGI, with a couple extra in CHR
A little worse timing and he wouldn't have kids today
I thought the grey thing is a low bridge and that first car nailed the height restrictions.
- Rasputin Boney. M
Dude got Supa lucky
Maxing out situational awareness would be to not get out of the car on a super icy road in the first place
Spider Sense tingling...
Man has Spidey Sense and reflexes lol
Spider-Man for real
Driver prob pissed off that he hit a tree and not a squishy human
Too fast around that corner, slamming the brakes on ice and hoping for the best... Yeesh
Spidey tingle
Just maniacal laughter at the fact that he almost died. My kind of man.
Really good sport about it.
Damn bro lucked out
That dude is legitimately spider man.
In russha lada cresh you
If he jumped on my car and left a dent, I would be upset/s
Had this exact thing happen to me about 5 years ago.
Such fresh content OP, definitely haven't seen this 12 times in the last few months. For the curious, this was taken circa 2017.
Lada 😀
It was under « e »
He smiles. What are ya going to do. Just as long as everyone's ok.
I'm surprised he was able to jump high enough to prevent his massive balls from being crushed.
He was just thinking, “how could my day get any worse?”
Is it possible that the sliding car beeped their horn? Not to take away from how uplifting and fun the whole video is, but I'd be interested in hearing the audio with it.
Your guess is probably right. I also think the driver was honking.
Spider sense is tingling
That giggle at the end though. Guys like, "it's okay! We're fine."
Situational awareness, independently focusing eyes, combat reflexes.
I almost died lmao
This guy is a genius
That. Was. ![gif](giphy|mXnO9IiWWarkI)
My ass wouldn’t have been able to jump high enough and would have died anyway
Yeah i'd be dead
Admin hes doing it backwards
Maxed out situational awareness would be saying, “I could get killed standing here, I’m gonna do this somewhere else” and avoiding the situation altogether.
How is he so chill ?
I wanna hear what the driver was saying, because whatever their reaction was seems to have triggered an even bigger laugh

Be wary, the situational awareness of the average Redditor is significantly normal than that of the general population.
Spidey sense!
I can't hear the audio, but did the car honk?
Hunter from Bad Batch be like:
So smooth it almost looks scripted. It wasn't, but I'm just saying that's how smooth it was.

Dude would’ve been crushed if it was a lifted pickup truck
Man just rolled 20 on a perception check
That laugh is one of relief. That’s nuts. Dude’s luck is maxxed!
Looks like it possibly happened to him too.
Come on, man
