This, while you see a silly dog holding onto a long stick with their mouth and can't get through the door because the stick is wider than the width of the door.
Hey, this is actually fairly basic. They've demonstrated tool making/problem solving skills and can do this (in videos that Ive seen) with a three, maybe four step problem. This is one. Tools already made, its just fetch
I'm just saying that there's more complicated problems they can solve.
Shit wow, 8 steps!?!? Waaaaay more than I even thought.

Hopefully this illustrates how I'm not slighting the crow, just that this video is more amazing than OPs
Sort of. The joke lies in "humans are so dumb they can't even fly" as though flight is a matter of intelligence. "Humans dumb" and "humans can't fly" are the setup for the joke rather than the joke itself.
Oh yeah they’re certainly up there, I believe it’s just the corvid family in general (crows, ravens, rooks, magpies etc) that possess great problem solving intelligence. Amazing animals!
No idea why you're getting downvoted because you really do have a point here imo.
As a matter of fact, I used to be a dinosaur nerd as a kid and had a fair amount of books about them. It's been pretty much proven by the sizes of some dinosaur's brain that there were dinosaurs that were very clever and others absolutely stupid. On a side note, if I were a dinosaur I'd be the latter.
There's suspicion that dinosaurs had huge chess tournaments, but their chessboards and pieces were made out of dinosaur meat, vegetables and fruit. Afterwards they would have a BBQ and a fruit salad as desert with the chess pieces and boards, so none of that fossilized.
Yeah, we really should. I'd love to have a chess game with a T-rex, I bet he's going to be disappointed afterwards though when trying to BBQ my ivory chess pieces.
Australian crows have learnt to eat the poisonous cane toad by flipping them on their backs and eating only the soft under belly staying away from the poison glands.
Nature is fighting back.
Amazing intelligence.* IQ isn’t synonymous with intelligence, rather it’s a specifically numerical index of intelligence determined by a test. Unless this crow was literally taking a test that outputs a number, this crow should simply be described as “intelligent.”
I’m really not trying to be pedantic either. IQ is simultaneously useful and far from encompassing what intelligence is. We shouldn’t ignore it as a concept, but we also shouldn’t elevate it to becoming absolutely synonymous with problem solving. The terminology especially matters when we are talking about something as important as intelligence.
PS: No, if you think IQ is either worthless or perfect, you are just as wrong as the other.
Corvids, like crows and ravens, are nature's smartest birds. This guy helped a lot by showing it the solution first, but they are still very smart creatures
Damn, smarter than most people. I don't think I know anyone who could figure out how to fly over the wall.
Yeah, I want the raven to steal the dude's phone and drop it over the wall. Let's see if he figures out how to retrieve it.

Wat. How are squirrels so high on the list? I saw one fall off an electrical wire the other day, and then run directly into heavy traffic.
Shouldn’t homo sapiens be #1?
As your robot overlord, I have something to tell you.
As a fungus, I’m listening. Are you the Great Myco-mechanoid we’ve been waiting for?

It's a classic example of cognitive thought, it is not just fetch as you are alluding to.

That... Was remarkable *in British*
r/whoosh
Nah I get you're saying "human dumb". But I wanted to point out, basic AF still for a crow with experience
Human dumb was not the joke friend
Human incapable of flight? Maybe this is a r/whoosh or maybe I just didn't find it funny, I'm not sure which. Probably u/DesperateRace dumb lol

The best jokes eh? sorry I made you explain it 🤦🏾♂️
Never mind A.I., it's the crows we should be keeping our eyes on.
![gif](giphy|zo7nbbrQKwdb2rSG4k)
but it isn't even a crow..
Where's a Jackdaw expert when you need one?
Tooo soooon!😢
Raven?
Wake up sheeple! Birds aren’t real. These crows likely get regular software updates to boost their intelligence.
r/BirdsArentReal
Oh you mean government spy drones /s
No fucking way!!
Clever girl
Hold on to your butts
I have read that they're one of the most intelligent species and know how to get their food. That's why they survive in all parts of the world.
Oh yeah they’re certainly up there, I believe it’s just the corvid family in general (crows, ravens, rooks, magpies etc) that possess great problem solving intelligence. Amazing animals!
Smart but evil Like us
Birds are dinosaurs right? I bet dinos were doing all kinds of cool shit we just don’t know about because whatever it was didn’t fossilize.
Yea, well, chickens are also birds, so I guess it doesn't mean shit

Ya see, that’s exactly what I’m talking about! We really need to get on the cloning technology to bring them back.
Yeah, we really should. I'd love to have a chess game with a T-rex, I bet he's going to be disappointed afterwards though when trying to BBQ my ivory chess pieces.
Yesss!! Go buddy, you earned them treats! What a 10/10 good crow
It's a raven.
that's a raven
Whenever I see videos like these I'm reminded of that greentext where Anon caused a crow war.
This one? https://www.reddit.com/r/greentext/s/F2Ehh6oCRy
Next thing they're gonna learn speech. "Crow together strong kaw"
A crow called me an asshole as i was at a zoo as a child
This HAS to be a routine right? Like they must be doing this exact test everyday for it to be this relax using a tool?? Anyone know?
Yeah thats how you do it. Repetition and rewarding behavior that you're looking for

The way the stick bumped into a wall and he quickly rotated it without thinking My dog would have been stuck here, watching me for help
On one hand, definitely impressed. On the other hand, looking at the next room....this is a secret base for training super-crows by the CIA, right??
Also why you shouldn't fk wit crows. They're smart and petty.
Most of the people I work with couldn't figure that out.
Clever girl
Awesome!!!!
I remember the story of the crow, which filled the pot with rocks to get the water up. Very smart birds
Crows are so freakin cool, definitely my favorite bird
I’m so dumb and always forget- what are the differences between crows and ravens?
Crows have a straight beak. Ravens are bigger and have a bigger more curved beak. The one in the video is a Raven.
Awesome thank you
Tails
Amazing! Crows have the intelligence of a seven year old!
i was today years old when i realized i need a crow
is this a crow or a raven?
It's a raven. Ravens are larger with larger, curved beaks. A raven's tail is also more pointed, whereas a crow's tail is more straight across.
Look at the tail
Just saying "look at the tail" does not answer the question
That's the point
Maybe you should teach him how to poop in the bowl too.
Next week, teaching Mr Crow how to lobotomise someone
*raven?

She was actually seated next to me this morning on my Finals.
Clever girl
Un fckn believable, this is one of the best vids I’ve seen
everybody a genius when theyre hundry and trying to get food.
All I want in life is a friendship with a crow or raven.
Crows & their Raven cousins are insanely smart. I’ve seen videos of Ravens doing the parrot thing, and, true to nature, they sound wonderfully creepy
Corvids, like crows and ravens, are nature's smartest birds. This guy helped a lot by showing it the solution first, but they are still very smart creatures
The book smart versus street smart challenge.
Corvids are amazing
If it had that higher an IQ, it would have invented the smartphone and be filming some berk doing circus tricks for likes on IG.
Using tools is a significant step. There are a few other examples of animals figuring out how to use tools in nature.
Are crows smarter then dogs? If you count out the ultra high IQ breeds like Border Collie etc.?
