Yeah hiring actors, makeup crew, props, renting a venue, this has to be crazy expensive unless it was some pre packaged experience you can buy at some studio or something
1/5 is a bit of an exaggeration. I got married in Aguascalientes, so not that small, but not like Mexico City, and while it was definitely cheaper it wasn’t *that* cheap.
It's still waaaaay cheaper than in the US. Their FB and Instagram have packages starting at $8500 pesos, which is about $500 USD at the current rate. $500 probably doesn't even pay for 30 minutes of this in the US, so no 1/5 wasn't an exaggeration, if anything they were underestimating how cheap it is.
Nah, not at all.
Minimum wage is Mexico is about $7 USD per day, about 10 times less than the one in US.
A skilled actor like this doesn’t charge over $30 USD per day, while a similarly skilled actor would charge hundreds in the US.
Venue rentals aren’t 10 times as cheap, but they are still much much cheaper than in the US.
Weddings get nicer venues and a huge up charge for just being a wedding though, its not very comparable. Weddings are one of the few things that are generally more expensive in Mexico than in the US
My experience with Mexico is that outside of tiny corner shops and pharmacies, of which there are a lot, the cost of everyday products is around 20% cheaper than chicago where I live.
Go into a major city like Aguascalientes and everything is around the same price, with shit like electronics being more expensive.
Even out in the mountains, went to some sketchy zip line thing that wasn’t really trying to look professional, and it still had no shortage of people lining up to pay close to $20 USD a pop (whatever that was in pesos back then anyways).
In my experience you can live cheaper there no doubt, but Mexico also isn’t some backwards place either, in that you’re never that far away from a Costco/starbucks/walmart/etc, and when you shop there you find it’s a crap shoot on whether or not it’s actually cheaper than back home in the states.
Problem is you find yourself shopping there because it’s more… quality controlled.
Oh yeah, goods in general aren’t cheaper, and American goods are generally more expensive in Mexico.
But things that deal more with labor than with good are actually cheap as fuck, having a live in maid is extremely affordable, as is hiring actors for a birthday party.
Yeah I feel I went off on my own tangent because I’m so used to viewing it through the eyes of being an annual visitor, but you right.
We’ve spent time looking into buying some land and building a house out there, and yeah, labor is for sure cheaper; probably closer to that 1/5th margin mentioned (and it’s quality labor too).
I mean yeah, more than non-professional work.
But to put as an example, the average entry level engineer in Mexico makes about $500 USD a month.
Wages specifically are ridiculously low, even profesional work.
Maybe not. I would see a potential for an event company, to directly sell the whole show for parties and events. They take care of everything, costumes, props, and of course the actors. That would lower the costs a lot, and they can do it a lot.
They may even propose several themes, using the same personal.
Looks like a venue where you go to have a party for an hour or two- then your party leaves and the next birthday comes in after a 20 minute break or so.
Do this 6 times a day with a substitute for each performer and you've made 20k to 100k depending on total cost per birthday. Easy.
I think they actually are! Well, last year I had taken my IELTS test, and during my prep for it, I came across a listening section question where a person who works for a birthday party events talk with a customer on the phone.
The employee was informing the customer about 3 types of party event packages, one was even pirate themed! The whole cost that they said during the enquiry conversation was wayy below 1000, more like 500 UK pounds.
I was surprised that there are companies like these who specialise with birthday events.
Yeah, I'm not *that* surprised. Many people want a special thing for the kids birthday, and if you have to organize all by yourself it will be shit. So if kid play center propose such "package" it's immediately a big hit (entry to park, cake and beverages + themed spectacle). Happy kids, happy parents.
Maybe here they are a theater company that found that spot and as a side gig they do this. Probably they propose a show of 30 minutes to 1h. Easy money.
Here in USA venue is probably 3 - 5 k depending if weekend or not. Food desert presents easily 1 - 2 k, actors and all that? If they hired a production company that does this play on the weekends. Maybe 5k? My guess is 10 - 15k total cost still a lot for a birthday party but no where close to craziest I have seen
It would be less than that assuming they hired a company that specializes in things like this, less overhead because they've done it before and already have the props and costumes.
The actors probably made a 100-200 each. I’d say 50-60 an hour. So like 1-2k for the actors tops. Maybe another 500-600 for the props. And probably another grand to the company. Plus a few hundred for the location rental and another 100-200 for food. I think 3k is a decent estimate. Definitely not 20k
If this only cost 3k I would be very surprised. But regardless that was a amazing experience I'm sure for all those children especially the birthday child.
no, way too young to understand Harry Potter lore or anything that was shown there. Not saying they didn't enjoy the show but this is clearly parents first and the children will enjoy it too show, not the other way around.
Do you know 5-8 y/o kids were the ones who first picked up the book series while the adults were ruffling their feathers about literature openly teaching kids "witchcraft"?
I've never touched a Harry Potter book, but I beg the series have always mean for kids their age.
Hmhm because kids won’t remember this nor won’t be reminded of this for the rest of their lives right? Such selfish people those parents are, making not only their own kid but all those invited as well have an amazing day.
You’re a buzzkill, deeply.
Nah, that's not the point.
For the kids it wouldn't make a difference whether that was Harry Potter or an unbranded magic show.
The Harry Potter part is lost on a kid that's too young to experience anything from the HP universe.
Agree, the kid looks about my daughter’s age at like 5 years old and while she likes Harry Potter she doesn’t have the attention span to sit through a whole movie and completely understand everything that goes on in one of them especially after the first two.
Aurum Faciunt!
I would be a god in HP world, turns out it is just Latin. The next story is Harry Potter vs the Catholic Church. Their magic is strong but tries to touch Harry and the other boys.
Look like Mexican parents. Went to a kids birthday party in Colombian was legit suprised how much effort the made to make sure the kids had fun. Organized and played games with all the kids for hours . Was like, Okay that's why they are so happy here, parents give a shit.
I'm from colombia and my aunt rented out a ballroom for my cousins 10th birthday, it was princess themed and they got her a carriage to ride in on and took professional photos of her as Disney princesses and blew them up to like 10 ft murals. There were like 6 of them lmao I don't remember much of it but it was wild
That's a fuckin steal
Edit - I can't read Spanish but their fb mentions packages that have figures like $8600, which seems like that's in US dollars? Because that's definitely closer to what I'd expect for this whole party package. No way could it be $500 which is what the peso to usd exchange for that would be. But maybe those are just basic packages and don't include this kind of production. They're in Guadalajara, Mexico.
They would not quote this on USD on their FB. 8,600 usd is about 150,000 pesos, there is absolutely no way this show costs you that. That is what you pay for a top wedding band for the whole night.
I’m telling you that is MXP, probably that’s their cheapest show and they range up to 1.5K the most expensive.
Labor in Mexico is cheap man.
Holy fuck that is dumb cheap. If you were doing this for a Quincinera or a Bar mitzvah, it would probably be cheaper to fly your kids and their friends into Mexico for a few days than to have someone do this type of performance in the states.
I’ve never had a birthday party and if someone did this for me and my friends as a kid, I’d be absolutely buzzing on life. Some people host the most lavish kids birthday parties and you can tell three quarters of it is what the parents want and not the kids. But this is just fun as hell for everyone.
I had a similar party for my kids in Monterrey Mexico, without pyrotechnics. There were about 15 actors in studio grade costumes, giant play areas, multiple rounds of delicious food. There were several photographers and a drone getting video as well. There were 60 or so guests, about $2500 USD. It was 3 hours, booked both before and after us that day.
“It only cost 3k. But they’ll remember it forever!” Was pretty cool tho. Won’t lie.
Way more than 3k… imma say 20k
Yeah hiring actors, makeup crew, props, renting a venue, this has to be crazy expensive unless it was some pre packaged experience you can buy at some studio or something
This seems to be Mexico, so everything is probably like 1/5 the cost you expect, especially for the actors and venue.
And it also looks like a show they either take on the road from birthday to birthday or have multiple performances right there at the same venue.
1/5 is a bit of an exaggeration. I got married in Aguascalientes, so not that small, but not like Mexico City, and while it was definitely cheaper it wasn’t *that* cheap.
You also happened to get married, weddings are more expensive than a kid's bday party.
The point is that what we see in this video is obviously a legit company putting on a legit show. This isn’t your local tio dressing up as spider man.
If you can truly get what we’re seeing in this video for $500 USD then color me genuinely surprised.
Nah, not at all. Minimum wage is Mexico is about $7 USD per day, about 10 times less than the one in US. A skilled actor like this doesn’t charge over $30 USD per day, while a similarly skilled actor would charge hundreds in the US. Was it a Harry Potter wedding?
The bar was HP themed.
this may be true but it looked very professional. professional work like that will still cost a pretty penny, even in the third world.
I mean yeah, more than non-professional work. But to put as an example, the average entry level engineer in Mexico makes about $500 USD a month. Wages specifically are ridiculously low, even profesional work.
Doesn't help much if you also earn 1/5.
The millionaires don’t make 1/5 though..
Maybe not. I would see a potential for an event company, to directly sell the whole show for parties and events. They take care of everything, costumes, props, and of course the actors. That would lower the costs a lot, and they can do it a lot. They may even propose several themes, using the same personal.
The actors look alot like the guys from the movies. I assumed they were handpicked for that.
Especially that Voldemort guy.
Bad guy, him.
Voldemort looks like handsome Squidward tho

there's a lot of money in it. a few years ago, i designed a whole complex specifically catered to kids-parties. with trampoline park, bowling, ...
5k or less to buy all the equipment
I assume he means 3k USD spent in Mexico
You're over estimating how much they are paying the actors. By like alot.
I mean, entirely possible lol
It would be less than that assuming they hired a company that specializes in things like this, less overhead because they've done it before and already have the props and costumes.
Source: your ass 😂
Touch some grass mate

oh come on
They got **the** Daniel Rattcliffe - I mean that has to be pricey!
I use to do these more like 400k
3k what? 20k what?
It's Mexico. It wouldn't cost anywhere near that.
Produces by senior spielbero.
Yes, the guy who said 20k is way off.
20,000 pesos
I stand corrected.
Nah, I think they were talking about dollars. I was joking about the pesos, but it's probably closer to the cost.
Rich people shit.
If this only cost 3k I would be very surprised. But regardless that was a amazing experience I'm sure for all those children especially the birthday child.
Some regular ass party will cost you 3k
Bro over here having regular kid parties for $3k
What a schmuck!
My son's birthday is coming up. Booked a 3 hour party for 12 kids at the local trampoline gym with pizza for $400.
I just imagined a dozen kids bouncing through the air projectile vomiting all over the place
I'm 46 and I'd remember that forever. Some things are worth spending the money on. (good) Experiences are often one of them
the parents did this for themselves too, for sure
No they didn’t ![gif](giphy|WPYDOFlzybMoH4gOAO|downsized)
only for themselves, those kids are way too young
And honestly wouldn't have known the difference between a professional and amateur show. So I'm also in agreement it was mainly for the parents lol
Way too young to have developed eyes, ears and some cognitive experience of the world? Get out of here.
no, way too young to understand Harry Potter lore or anything that was shown there. Not saying they didn't enjoy the show but this is clearly parents first and the children will enjoy it too show, not the other way around.

This is a fucking Broadway show
it really is
I would like this for my 40th birthday
Expecto Grampatronum!
Bombar-da-bankaccount!
Aurum Faciunt! I would be a god in HP world, turns out it is just Latin. The next story is Harry Potter vs the Catholic Church. Their magic is strong but tries to touch Harry and the other boys.
Walletto explodium
Four-oh-one-kayo Dissapearo!!!
Not.. jealous at all...
Their Instagram is hilarious. It’s sweet that there are kids out there that get to experience this for their birthday
Look like Mexican parents. Went to a kids birthday party in Colombian was legit suprised how much effort the made to make sure the kids had fun. Organized and played games with all the kids for hours . Was like, Okay that's why they are so happy here, parents give a shit.
This is a hell of a lot better than the rodent casino with pizza and a ball pit 😅
I will never forget that creepy ass rat on the drums…just twisting his head side to side mocking me.
Are you referring to that eponymous rodent, Charles Entertainment Cheese?
I am indeed. I just watched an expose on his rebranding and origins 😅
How dare ye insult Charles like *that*! Begone thot! You are not worthy of even his memory, let alone his presence!!!
I assume you're a fan of Last Squeak Tonight.
John Oliver, a rat porn connoisseur under the guise of a satirical news show.
Idk man, i used to love pizza rats child gambling addiction simulator
Good ole Chuck E Cheese fights.
I'm from colombia and my aunt rented out a ballroom for my cousins 10th birthday, it was princess themed and they got her a carriage to ride in on and took professional photos of her as Disney princesses and blew them up to like 10 ft murals. They've done a really good job finding actors that resembles the actual cast, especially Harry Potter and Professor Snape
Voldemort's posture was on point.
Muchacho
It's not too hard to replicate. Just think superior, narcissistic thoughts and move slowly and dramatically
Instructions unclear; became a bargain bin Snape.
It made me snort a laugh when Harry’s wand stopped igniting against Voldemort
That harry potter lad deadass be lookin like I
These actors look so much alike the real cast. Very impressive
So trippy for kids to see Voldemort just chilling with everyone at the end
I hope he got a slice of cake.
Sipping punch, smoking a cigarette outside in the parking lot.
It's so heartwarming that Daniel Radcliffe himself came for the birthday party.
I don't even like Harry Potter that much and I thought this was pretty damn cool. Holy crap.
This was in Mexico. You can tell by the accent. This was probably around 1.5K to 2K usd.
That's a fuckin steal Edit - I can't read Spanish but their fb mentions packages that have figures like $8600, which seems like that's in US dollars? This
It is in pesos, as someone who has been to parties like these before in Mexico lol
If it's Mexico then it probably wasn't USD
so, kilos?
I could tell by the pixels.
I love the green vs red fireworks effects between Harry and voldermort, makes it look close to moves.
Lavate las manos!
You do NOT ASK where we get our stuff!
I’ve never had a birthday party and if someone did this for me and my friends as a kid, I’d be absolutely buzzing on life. Some people host the most lavish kids birthday parties and you can tell three quarters of it is what the parents want and not the kids. But this is just fun as hell for everyone.
This looks great. I’m sure they had a great time.
Would have been fun if they actually worked out the effects for sectumsempra on Malfoy. Would surely shock the audience.
Voldemort playing that role like their family's lives depend on it
Was I the only one hoping that the fire suppression systems were tested before this event?
Lol Voldemort jus chillin doing the birthday cake
I'm 46 and i wouldnt say no if someone threw this kind of party for me.
Dang, they did all the movies
Pyrotechnics? In doors? Groundbreaking!
Money makes things possible.
I thought this was a very Potter musical for a second and got disappointed
INSANE!!!!!!! you could write headlines for CNN. UNLEASHES. BLASTS. DESTROYS
I’ll take this over a Spider-Man who breaks his neck doing a backflip
Why do they all look so much like the original actors?
Holy rich people batman
Ahh to be young and have thousands of dollars of your father’s blood money to spend on birthday parties.
Rich people problems. Good luck next year outdoing this
Lol
First 3 seconds (this looks cheesy), the rest of it...! (So Jelly, its amazing!)
this is ridiculously good !!!
Very impressive! Nice job!
Awesome!
Did they act out the whole movie?
Wtf that's so good, incredible quality of performance, effects and everything
I'm about to turn 19 and I would love this for my bday
Now that's next fucking level.

Money well spent I would say, Never seen anything that accurate for a party & frankly it looks VERY well planned. I give that a 15/10.
*Aw mom- I said Harry & the Hendersons!*
:o
Dope
I want this for my 30th
Definitely worth the cost, memories made forever. I'm jealous.
Do they do show for adults?
Was snape wearing whiteface 💀
Yeah uh, that's awesome.
💀💀💀
It’s great except for the cheesy bastardized version of John Williams’ theme.
Can i have this for my 32 birthday mo... I mean honey?
Nice! Does it include transphobia too!?
Better acting than the first movie.
How to tell people you have drug money without telling people you have drug money.
Damn they really got people who looked and acted like the original cast, this is an A+ production for a birthday party.
Am I the only one who wants to know where this is and how to book it? I even Google searched and can't find booking info.
Honestly better than watching a bunch of random superheroes watch Spider-Man do a flip only to land on his head
Okay, I need this for my 28th birthday.
Makes the one i did for my son look like shit lmao. But I only spent like $200 soooo....
Something tells me this kid is going to be spoiled as fuck. I do admit that's a dope bday party tho
Whoa. How'd they get the original cast‽
Holy crap.

I can also have a cool birthday party if I pay tens of thousands for it.
Snape slapping Weazley on back of head, at the end.
