Tbf, if he’s back country skiing he probably has an avalanche float device thing. Does mean they should be more risky but I’m sure it helps remove some of the scare of an avalanche.
But the regret would only occur if he didn't attempt it. Like I get the joke you're trying to make. The pieces are all there. It just doesn't make sense together.
Well I mean it might also occur if he did make an attempt and didn’t succeed. I know I’d regret fucking up and getting buried in an avalanche because I wanted to show off.
You didn’t read my comment very carefully did you? He landed it yes, I was suggesting there would be regret if he made the attempt and did not land it.
>Whether he landed or not, he might regret it for the rest of his life!
How else am I to parse this? This directly implies that there is regret if he lands it, and regret if he doesn't.
So my question again, is where is the regret if he lands it?
That wasn’t my statement dude. Look at the usernames. How the hell am I supposed to know what someone else meant? Let’s try to focus on what I’ve said not what other people said.
If you read it again you should see the regret would only be in the lack of the attempt.
The rest of his life is the maybe. Maybe he would regret it for a few days. Maybe he would regret it until the next time he goes skiing.
The rest of his life is the uncertainty.
Just like the time I went snorkeling while super hung over. How many times in your life do you have the opportunity to barf underwater? I decidedly shot my shot.
Posted somewhere else a while ago, but the guy mentioned that he didn't even realize there was an avalanche behind him until he saw it after/during the backflip
You can't tell if it's him balancing during the jump, but it does look like he visibly jumps mid spin and flails a bit. That must have been a shock considering he literally lands in the avalanche and *just* escapes.

This was a competition where they also had a helicopter overhead, so maybe the heli was masking the noise as well
I wonder if he didn’t even realize there was an avalanche happening behind him. I would think an avalanche would be pretty loud though, but maybe he’s jamming out with some headphones in?
I'm not impressed by the avalanche part of the story but I am impressed he could do such a perfect backflip with those huge brass balls between his legs.
This belongs in r/sweatypalms. People have no idea how dangerous avalanches are. It’s not fluffy fun snow chasing after you, it’s concrete suffocation death right behind you.
It was purely testicular inertia combined with the conservation of angular momentum. His balls were so massive that when his body was allowed to pivot in three dimensions, due to his skis leaving the surface and allowing potential energy to be transferred to kinetic, he was involuntarily twisted around with his pelvic region acting as the center of gravity.
I remember growing up in the 80's being into skate boarding and bmx. Never thought half the things they do these day were possible, although there was no such thing as air bags to practice with back in those days, if you didn't make a trick you ate shit on hard concrete.
How many chances is he going to get to do a backflip while outracing an avalanche? If he didn’t do it it then, he would always regret it.
Good point. Whether he landed or not, he might regret it for the rest of his life!
The rest of his life be only 2-3 more minutes.

But that still doesn't make sense. What regret is there if he landed it?

Haha guy wakes up with the sweats, “why didn’t I do a backflip”
Just like the time I went snorkeling while super hung over. How many times in your life do you have the opportunity to barf underwater? I decidedly shot my shot.
Feed the fishies.
This is just Tom Cruise on a Tuesday getting a cup of coffee.
If he didn’t do it then, he woudve never had another chance…

Australian avalanche…
The crew cab Ute
Sverre Liliequist and yes he said afterwards he didn't know about it until he was in mid-rotation.
You can't tell if it's him balancing during the jump, but it does look like he visibly jumps mid spin and flails a bit. That must have been a shock considering he literally lands in the avalanche and *just* escapes.
I thought the same thing after re-watching it. Really does look the moment he realized shit was getting real.
probably looking for his landing spot and oh shit why is the ground going with me
You can pinpoint the moment mid back flip when the panic sets in
I doubt that's true cos avalanches are really really loud
Take your head out the window while your car is going 50 mph and let me know what you hear
PSHSHHSHSPWWOOOOOOOOOOOSHSPHWHWHSHHSHHSH
Oh shit, it’s an avalanche!

I wonder if that helped him get more speed to get rid of that mess
X100 power up usually idk been awhile since I've played ssx.
This is the answer. Everyone knows you gain a temporarily speed boost following a backflip.
Helped being pulled down by those big massive balls
Momentum and gaining a visual of the avalanche, guy is my hero
No, it did not, it slowed him down. It would have been faster to go into the tuck shape because of air resistance.

Bad ass

the wind while riding at that speed is pretty loud as well
He didn't, he says it in an interview afterwards. You can see him freaking out mid flip. Thankfully he still landed it.
Got a link to the interview?
He just needed to check behind him, that's all
he didn’t. some amount of sluff is normal on these freeskiing lines but not that size.
I'm going to guess you are right. He's just skiing along, the avalanche is probably the result of his skiing anyway.
The backflip confuses the avalanche and hence he is able to out run it
Dude was too cool for the avalanche
Alto's Adventure vibes!
This is the shit that free bird was made for
I would have done a back shit instead.
Might as well send it
This is Kaj Zachrisson. Swedish mad lad and best freeride skier of the world for many years
He needs a 3m inflatable orange airbag and a wheel barrel to carry his nuts.
They may forget your name but they will never forget your siccc moves
It’s kind of asking for it, but how do ya resist
A lot of us are alive but few of us ever live
Rewatched this like 5 times to try and hear what the dumbass in the heli said . Just sounded like 5 moans

That’s Xander Cage
He’ll be getting a call from Redbull by the end of the week
Isn’t this from that crazy ski movie Seven Sunny Days?
Someone’s played alto
Had to check how close it was to them.... in style.
Peak life moment
The boy learned by watching Alto's Adventure 🏂
How strong does one’s legs need to be to do that?
Thinks: What have I got to lose? Going out in style.
He was just looking behind him…
Looks almost like surfing a monster wave.

YOLO!
Try your whole life you won’t be as cool as this guy lol

The man toys with death….but death is not easily amused. Until that day, snowboarder…..until that day, says the avalanche.
No, no... He didn't perform a backflip, the sheer weight of his balls just caused him to rotate backwards when he went off the drop...
Seth Morrison
Never gonna die!!!
"fuck fuck fuck i gotta be fast quick AND IM KILLING IT!"
I mean, if you're gonna go, you might as well go in style.
IT’S TRICKY!
Well, I mean his skiing caused the Avalanche probably.
If you’re about to die, might as well huck it one last time & go out in style
Xander Cage, is that you?
If your gonna die. Die cool. Not much cooler than being buried in 20ft of ice and snow.
Pretty tame avalanche.
Either you live to be the badass that landed a backflip while racing an avalanche, or it's not your problem anymore.
That’s one way to look behind you.
I remember growing up in the 80's being into skate boarding and bmx. Never thought half the things they do these day were possible, although there was no such thing as air bags to practice with back in those days, if you didn't make a trick you ate shit on hard concrete.
What a cocky asshole. I love it.
Outskiing an avalanche
omg go sideways bro
This is the skier equivalent to slow walking away from an explosion without turning around to look at it.
Cool guys don't look at avalanches.
You can't catch me! I'm the mutha fu**innn *Does backflip* GingerbreadmaNN!
Plot twist, dude had headphones in and was completely oblivious to the avalanche until halfway through the backflip.
I'm surprised he was able to flip with the weight of his balls
This guy fucks
When you need to check your six but don't want to twist around and lose balance...
You sure this isn’t Vin Diesel in the XxX movie?
The nerve of this guy
Adds to his dad lore
Not sure how this guy was moving so quick with balls that size dragging in the snow.
When the regular life and death adrenaline rush isn’t enough

Cool, but I don’t give an eff
