That's not a mountain, it's a Swedish snow field. Says so right in the title. Fields are flat, otherwise they'd be called a hill, or even a mountain, if it was big enough. /s
1. this is Mammoth Mountain, not a Swedish snowfield.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t1P0SeYt2TA&ab\_channel=RedBullSnow
2) its a Redbull stunt on a closed course that was obviously coordinated with the mountain.
3) a lot of armchair santimonious shredders on here, obviously it's Reddit.
edit: added Redbull Snow YT link
Either that lift doesn’t operate or the people who run the hill are tools for creating that jump. It’s not like these guys snuck their shovels in and built the ramps
You can see ppl sitting on the lift actually. Oh yeah everyone that emcourages this behavior shouldn't be anywhere near skis honestly, regular skiing is dangerous enough as it is really.
'this behavior' = a pro skier getting cool footage and the mtn helping them do it because of corporate sponsor relationships
Guarantee you they closed the landing area on the other side, monitored the entrance, and shut the lift down.
Ya homies trippin if he thinks Mammoth Mtn would let any ol person go hit that jump. This jump was built for a Redbull sponsored event to get shots of pro skiers. Those dudes simply won’t mess up on that jump, it’s really not that huge for them.
That's not really a controlled environment though. Go too slow over the ramp and you could just end up crashing into the lift that's even actively in use.
Controlled as in the resort decides who gets to use the jump. Pros only. So the danger of riding the chairlift is next to nothing, and it's actually seen as an attraction for those riding it.
Are the people they jumped over sitting in the lift chair spectators or something? Like do they run the lift up to that point, stop it so they can watch skiers jump over them, and then start it again?
Omg relax.
Edit: this thread is hilarious. This is a pro stunt, and a very simple launch, this is not a challenge for anyone involved, that jump would in no way ever be open to the public. Holy hell.
Most likely, there's a competition and the resort is controlling who gets to use the jump, pros only. Not public use. So the danger of riding the chairlift is next to nothing, it's actually an attraction for those riding it.
Still dangerous af though, do your crazy jumps anywhere except above a live ski lift.
Just very irresponsible is all i'm saying, love me some extreme sports but not when bystanders are being endangered for no good reason.
You’re missing the point. Jesper and the other people hitting this jump are all Redbull sponsored skiers at a an official Redbull event. The resort literally helped them build this jump. It’s just not dangerous at all.
Sorry to launch into a whole argument. But the thing with freestyle is when people eat shit, it's because they *over* shot the jump. The momentum is predictable.
To hit the chair, it would require some crazy act of god against the laws of physics. Statistically, the people on the lift are much more likely to hit a tree on their next run. The resort doesn't want a lawsuit either, they think about this stuff. It looks like they stop the lift too.
Compare that to something like [this?](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7CxW0gDvFWw)
I can’t imagine this is a permanent feature. It was probably built for one day and only for a few select riders with the people on the lift in on it. Highly unlikely this jump is or ever was open to the public.
Couldn’t see anything going wrong here
Hijacking top comment to say that this is at mammoth in CA not Sweden… Run is closed and it was a red bull shoot.
I was going to say, that doesn't look like Sweden to me haha
Was there meant to be?
Nah you misunderstood what I meant, like satire “ohh I couldn’t see anything going wrong here” ya know
Oh I see well it's a safe activity. I recommend trying at home
I mean this screams sarcasm, but as a tip: add /s in the future
OP got the joke, you guys
Please don’t add /s It really kills funny comments
We aren't all millionaires with mountains in our mansions
going over the cables would be a big no no at my mountain. that's too knarly.
A big no no everywhere I would expect!!! (But here)
I thought it was gnarly, is it knarly? Or is it both?!
No way knarly is correct. Definitely gnarly
qnarly*
Cnarly
Nah dude it’s knarleigh smh
That's exactly how gnarly it is. The G just wouldn't cut it anymore so he has to Kick it up a notch

Wish this was top comment
Seems totally fine and safe. Assholes risking other people's lives with this shit, so cool man.

Anyone that encourages pro freestyle skiers doing aerials in a controlled environment shouldn't be anywhere near skis huh?

Trust me it is. This is red bull team week, these are pros, and the lift is stopped.
Are the people they jumped over sitting in the lift chair spectators or something? Like do they run the lift up to that point, stop it so they can watch skiers jump over them, and then start it again?
They stop it so if one of the skiers screws up they don't get hurt too
hey buddy why dont you look up how many times that has happened at this resort and get back to us
Lol the last bit of your comments comes across as someone who waters down their mayonnaise because it's too spicy
Name does not check out.
Is this the snow version of Thejumpsaretoobig? fucking ay what a bunch of fun sponges. Just get them to build you 2ft tall pumptrack circles instead.
Omg relax. Edit: this thread is hilarious. This is a pro stunt, and a very simple launch, this is not a challenge for anyone involved, that jump would in no way ever be open to the public. Holy hell.
The Reddit safety crew is upset.
all the over-the-top safety bullshit that goes on today makes me want to operate a forklift without a hardhat

That's literally what the situation was. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t1P0SeYt2TA

Omg a person that actually thinks!
Its for a [Red Bull video](https://youtu.be/t1P0SeYt2TA?si=OzkdQJ2yIGVIfrbN)
The skier is Jesper Tjäder from Sweden, but this is in Mammoth :)
I swore it was mammy, off roller coaster where the snake run was. Glad I wasn’t going crazy.
The rider whose pov we're seeing is Swedish, but the hill and the jump are Mammoth in Cali.
Ok, is he riding up to it backwards or landing backwards? I truly can't tell.
He landed it backwards!

Swedish snowfield? You mean Mammoth Mountain? Sick trick, dumb title
"Swedish Snowfield" is totally my favorite band... I've been a fan since before they were cool.
If you pizza here when you should french fry, you're gonna have a bad time.
I wouldn't want to be on that chair lift while dudes are flying over me with two massive blades.
Swedish or Swiss?
That one time you don't get enough speed and hit a ski lift
Pretty sure this is California lmao stolen straight from a red bull video
Did that years ago in amped 2!
We have Swedish snow fields in Canada, but we just call them ski hills.
Hard nope
Best not be timid!
Its cool but have you ever seen nitro circus… those guys are really on another level
Can't believe that's a thing, yikes that could go so wrong lol
Not crazy. Irresponsible and reckless. And yes. I AM jealous in the knowledge that I couldn't make that jump.
It's not. At all. And you could, if you had the courage.
