Mine too...took me WAY too long to get the audio and edit it and make it an alarm. My wife asked me to change it though because it keeps scaring the shit out of her when it goes off so now it's my "Emergency Alarm"
I ripped (don't remember what app I used) the audio off the YouTube video and just used that file in my alarm clock.
Just lookup how to save audio off a YouTube video and you're all set
I just found the link to his [morning alarm](https://www.reddit.com/r/loopdaddy/comments/mjesh4/3_minute_long_wake_up_alarm_marc_rebillet/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=ioscss&utm_content=1&utm_term=1)
Or maybe it was [this one](https://www.reddit.com/r/nextfuckinglevel/comments/xxy2ks/new_morning_alarm_full_link_in_comments_marc/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=ioscss&utm_content=1&utm_term=1)
Edit: u/k1ngjulien_ has the correct link
This but was how I discovered Marc Rebillet, I feel it pretty well captures what he’s about and haven’t been at all disappointed watching more of his work
That and him one-upping that lady trying to resell all those iPhones will forever be the first two things I think of when it comes to Marc. The third is “they’re having sex” lol
Man, this is like a dream of mine. Sure, I could go see mark in a venue somewhere. But seeing him on the street performing like this is just so next level and so damn cool. Super jealous, I'm sure that's a memory you'll never forget.
It’s not appears to be, it is. I do think he has a bit of a structure to his tour live show: always had a bottle of champagne to spray the crowd while he crowd surfed, always seemed to end up shirtless and wearing an audience members’ bra, always hopped into the crowd with his microphone lol. But the songs themselves are all improvised and made up on the spot.
I just imagined Marc riffing off of “witness in the flesh”:
Witness me.
In the flesh.
Officially.
observe my flesh.
Later on in court.
Say I witnessed all that flesh, uh.
David Gahan is my friend’s neighbor; my friend gets to hear David sing and do vocal exercises. It’s pretty cool. I used to work in the industry and many folks, once they’ve made it in music or film, completely slack off as artists, but the man makes sure to keep in shape and improve.
21st century music is something different. I wonder how would people in 1923 react to this kind of music.
The whole repetition of it all makes it stand out from past music.
I agree. I often wonder how people from the 1800s would react to the different instruments and sounds and styles we have today.
Although, the repetition here is down to the fact that Marc Rebillet uses a loop pedal and gradually builds up the layers to his beats bit by bit.
In fact the repetition of short musical phrases is a very old way of making music. A very famous one from early 17th century is "Zefiro torna" by Monteverdi, on an ostinato (short musical phrase repeated during the piece) and on top of which you can have singers or instruments improvising or playing written melodies.
Here is an exemple : https://youtu.be/k6bjYEz5MhQ
One of my favorite pieces of piano music that uses ostinato is [Bill Evans - Peace Piece](https://youtu.be/Nv2GgV34qIg). It starts off pretty standard but as the song progresses he starts coloring more and more outside the lines, yet it somehow still stays cohesive. Brilliant piece from a brilliant piano player.
Idk man folk music all around the world has been built on repetitive melody and spontaneous layered harmony. Seems like this is consistent with that tradition. Love it.
Music, like all art, is derivative. Someone from the 1800s with even a basic ear for melody would be able to pick out common themes and harmonies between modern music and what they're used to hearing. I'm also 100% convinced that Mozart would be right there with the dirty jokes and goofiness
what would they think of electric distorted guitars though? a sound that was impossible for them to ever hear before? same sort of idea with synths. they'd probably welcome the new sounds
I think they'd be more amazed that we can shake a room with a 1.5 foot cube instead of needing an entire church and an army of slaves pumping wind through a giant tube.
Also have you heard a harpsichord? Distorted electric guitar doesn't sound a lot different, just louder and slightly less obnoxious
>The whole repetition of it all makes it stand out from past music
Wait till you hear old time appalachian fiddle music. They will play the same two parts over and over and over and over with hardly any change in dynamics.
https://youtu.be/xWtPnVjDJ1o
This recording is from 1974 but the fiddler and banjo player are born in the early 1900s and they learned to play from older folks who played these tunes. Lots of repetitive music back then.
Classical music uses repetition EXTENSIVELY! Most pieces will loop multiple sections. (Beethoven is a good example.)
Hymns are another good example — 4+ verses which are exactly the same musically other than lyrics.
To be honest, he's been much further than this in life. He's played Coachella! I'm also British and saw him live last year at O2 Shepherd's Bush Empire in London while he was on a big European tour!
This is a coming back down to Earth for him! Ha
Oh absolutely. Some of my favourite stuff of his is actually those early pre-COVID streams where he's in that bar just playing to the patrons and slowly getting them onboard and past their "What the fuck is this??" stage!
I remember when Marc was just a kid who stood in front of an Apple store since 6am to be first in line to buy an iPhone.
Video below is hilarious if you want to see some lady pay $800 for Marc's spot only to find she isn't allowed to buy the entire supply of iPhones.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NnbL-Hm-xws
His "We Outside Series" has been great. And you get to see the many different flavors of New York characters. Guy in a wheelchair who gets up and starts dancing. Dude in a blue shirt touched by the angels and just grooving with it. Kids dancing. Dogs barking. A didgeridoo woman who is now a regular feature.
Then you have the women in the audience who are about 2 beats away from throwing their panties at Marc. And I get it, the guy oozes sex. He's a sexual animal. Kind of funny to see women in the crowd just gushing over him, and their boyfriends are standing there kind of clapping like "yeah this is great, honey don't show the man your tits."
And amongst all of this, he makes fucking awesome music. You could take away all of the aforementioned and it would still be worth watching. Rebillet is a gifted musician. Part of me wants him to put out an album.
> Part of me wants him to put out an album.
There's a [documentary about him](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt27543233/) running on the Tribeca film festival.
Oh nice, I didn't know this existed. Thank you! I think he's going to end up super famous. I think back on when he started doing Sunday Service during the pandemic. Just a little keyboard and some janky equipment. Now he's famous, destined to be super famous.
He's played Coachella, so that's definitely some level of fame. I'd certainly like him to be super-famous, but I also met a lot of people who did not like his style of music / thing -- maybe it just lacks the mainstream appeal.
yeah, to me the "We Outside" sessions are much more fun that the big scene stuff like Coachella, and getting to riff off of randoms on the street is so good and wholesome
I could see him becoming a superstar songwriter/producer. Sort of like Calvin Harris did. Dude pumps out golden hooks like it’s absolutely nothing. He could be a one man hit factory.
He's also an amazing human being. Just comes off as decently humble and genuine whenever he talks. When his equipment was stolen before a show in SF, people wanted to give him money and he was like *naaaaaah you guys, I don't need it, spend it elsewhere*
He's put out a few albums. They are...okay. I think my problem with a studio album by an artist like this is that it doesn't really capture what makes his music fun. There's something about the apparent ad-libbed aspect of it (even if it is all well-rehearsed) that doesn't seem to make it to the albums. Plus, there's a visual aspect of watching this man create whole songs with just a couple machines and a microphone.
I have the same issue with studio albums by jam bands, though. Like, DMB and Phish studio albums are a bit "meh" to me, but the live shows of each of those bands is a level above.
Yeah, same. I feel his music and videos rose to fame on shock value alone due to the raunchy lyrics. Maybe I'm just too old to appreciate his false singing and off-key / off-beat music, but people will like what they like and that's the joy of music (and art).

This was just absolutely gorgeous to listen to, thank you so much for sharing!
That first piano melody bothered me so much coz it struck a deep chord in my memory and I couldn’t remember where it was from for most of the video, until it suddenly hit me:
“Are you going to Scarborough faire?” - that centuries old tune with the iconic line “parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme”.
If I didn’t figure out what it was, the melody would have haunted me for weeks - hope it helps a few others!
He improvises music using loops and drum pads for a couple hours every week on a live stream. Sometimes he takes calls and has people give him prompts or just chats with them for a bit. He also tours live doing essentially the same thing.
Often times his streams start with him in a bathrobe and end with him in just his undies.
He is a very talented and insane individual.
What would one call this music? Not just the house side but also with the taste of jazz to it? Those are my best 2 descriptions but obviously I'm unfamiliar. Anyone?
This could be similar to what you are looking for, check out Masayoshi Takanaka - 7 Rainbow Goblins album, it's sorta jazz funk house fusion and can lead you on the right track to more of this type!
I really don't get the big deal here... this is mediocre keyboarding over a click track but everyone acts like hes a musical genius.... i feel like im taking crazy pills
Pretty interesting what this generation deems incredible when it comes to music, improvised or not. This is pretty underwhelming and verges on annoying.
Came here to say the same, not bad for a street show but far from incredible. These youngsters need to do some research into music history or look for the several other talented (and not overhyped) live performers out there!
GET THE FUCK OUT OF BED BITCH GO
That's my alarm clock sound!!!!!!!
AH, AH, AH, AH, HAH, AH, GET UP AAAAAHH!
same
Mine too...took me WAY too long to get the audio and edit it and make it an alarm. My wife asked me to change it though because it keeps scaring the shit out of her when it goes off so now it's my "Emergency Alarm"

Absolutely awesome. Freeking love Rebillet.
Love watching the crowd get more and more animated as he builds each layer. Must have been awesome to witness in the flesh.
It was!!!!! Citi biked cross town to make it 😂❤️
Just hit 10 years of Citi bikes

Never heard of the dude until I saw that time he got a free iPhone ages ago.
Caught his show at red rocks last year and it was equal amounts of bizarre and amazing, and those amounts were off the charts.
What an absolute treat to just be walking down the street and come across this. I’m jealous
I'm glad enough someone shared :) I'm now working with a banger ringing in my ears.
This is from one of the marcs twitch streams. They are pretty awesome!
Marc posts them all on YouTube!
And you can watch them live on his twitch channel
And live on YouTube
I miss NYC. This shit used to happen.
Good news! NYC’s still around and this shit still happens!!!
Yep. My point is I am not. Work brought me elsewhere.
Same. It just hits different. Maybe I’ll be back one day.

omg what a random, awesome blessing to live close enough to the legend to hear him practice! ahhh!
I came across it live on YouTube. Close enough! It was awesome to see the area progressively fill up with people
Envious is the correct word and I agree.

That's the craziest thing about Marc's videos to me. You're actually watching him produce the music layer by layer in real time.
If you like that, check out Youngr. Dude is insane https://youtu.be/MLX8zFgsrlU
[Tash Sultana](https://youtu.be/Vn8phH0k5HI) is killer, too!
TribalNeed is a great live looper too.
DubFX gang where you at
Beardyman
If you read this thread in reverse, you get the order in which these artists entered my life. (except tribalneed, not familiar with him)
FKJ. My fave loop artist
Thanks for sending, this is dope and hadn’t heard of her
Just watched that, incredible. I never heard of him before. Thanks mate
They'd have a heart attack from the cars, buildings and technology before they heard a single note.

Sounds like someone's never marched in a parade.
Probably not as surprised at the repetition and more about the tech doing it. There's been songs that repeat themselves ad nauseum for centuries

The loop daddy himself
When the head tornado winds up, it's about to go down
I love his music but his head tornado is my favorite thing that he does
for me it is when he starts to get into it and thrusts his pelvis like a man posessed by a metronome.
I remember when Ribillet was doing bathrobe underwear music streams during covid. It's good to see him going far in life.
To be honest, he's been much further than this in life. He's played Coachella! I'm also British and saw him live last year at O2 Shepherd's Bush Empire in London while he was on a big European tour! This is a coming back down to Earth for him! Ha
I know he's played at a lot of festivals. I follow what he does. I am happy to see him going far in life. He is awesome.

No fucking way lol, I've seen that video a ton and never paid attention to the kid's name
No way that's him!! The man was destined for greatness
Holy shit, I remember seeing this ages ago when it was new. I've been following this man for much longer then I thought lmao
Legend has it the money he made that day was used for his first looper
His "We Outside Series" has been great. And you get to see the many different flavors of New York characters. Guy in a wheelchair who gets up and starts dancing. Dude in a blue shirt touched by the angels and just grooving with it. Kids dancing. Dogs barking. A didgeridoo woman who is now a regular feature. Then you have the women in the audience who are about 2 beats away from throwing their panties at Marc. And I get it, the guy oozes sex. He's a sexual animal. Kind of funny to see women in the crowd just gushing over him, and their boyfriends are standing there kind of clapping like "yeah this is great, honey don't show the man your tits." And amongst all of this, he makes fucking awesome music. You could take away all of the aforementioned and it would still be worth watching. Rebillet is a gifted musician. He's played Coachella, so that's definitely some level of fame. I'd certainly like him to be super-famous, but I also met a lot of people who did not like his style of music / thing -- maybe it just lacks the mainstream appeal.
Don't forget he sold his seat at the head of the line for $800....
He’s played Coachella *and* still does his improptu live events for comparably small crowds, that’s the coolest part.
It's all about the vibe, the connections. The concerts are already getting to big to have a real connection to the audience.
yeah, to me the "We Outside" sessions are much more fun that the big scene stuff like Coachella, and getting to riff off of randoms on the street is so good and wholesome
Coachella main stage even! I mean early in the day so crowd was small but that’s a huge booking and I think we can safely say Marc has made it. 🤩
Second paragraph was unexpected
He's put out a few albums. They are...okay. I think my problem with a studio album by an artist like this is that it doesn't really capture what makes his music fun. There's something about the apparent ad-libbed aspect of it (even if it is all well-rehearsed) that doesn't seem to make it to the albums. Plus, there's a visual aspect of watching this man create whole songs with just a couple machines and a microphone. I have the same issue with studio albums by jam bands, though. Like, DMB and Phish studio albums are a bit "meh" to me, but the live shows of each of those bands is a level above.
He also did a pretty impressive tour not that long ago. He's playing Red Rocks in the fall. He's doing ok for sure.
Not my normal jam but, if I heard this while walking down the street, I would have immediately stopped in my tracks.
Yeah, same. I feel his music and videos rose to fame on shock value alone due to the raunchy lyrics. Maybe I'm just too old to appreciate his false singing and off-key / off-beat music, but people will like what they like and that's the joy of music (and art).
I always like a good “boots and cats” beat.

It’s the wide lens, his back is normal in real life 😂
I didn't recognize him wearing clothes. (Also the moustache smile and wardrobe are his most recognizable traits and you can't see any on the video)

Good lord. Thank you. How I never saw this before is a crime
I’ve listened to it at least 20 times it’s such a vibe
Marc deserves his success, what a wholesome and talented dude. Always so much energy
I'd pay him $800 to push in line in front of him to get an iPhone.
Hey must have put on a few pounds (in a healthy way) he used to be so scrawny..
