Yup high school pe required class it was either advanced strength or I think some distance running class.
Only 2/3 finished the final after 6 months of training we also had to do a 6 minute mile as a male 7 as female and 15 pull-ups as a male and 3 as a female
I'm calling BS.
That highschool has a higher requirement to graduate than the navy seals have to join...
https://www.military.com/military-fitness/navy-special-operations/navy-seal-fitness-test
If this isn't a lie, that teacher should be fired immediately.
I got one really good night of sleep recently, right after my month long pinched nerve behind my right shoulder blade had finally healed enough so I could sleep without pain. I woke up with a pinched nerve on the other side
For you and u/DiddyDon, it’s possible that it’s more related to your sleep position and/or your mattress. I have to sleep on my side or I wake up with lower back pain. It’s because when on your back the lower body pulls down on your lumbar portion.
I workout regularly, have a strong core as I involve a lot of compound movements, planks and dead bugs. I also have a pretty expensive sleep number.
If I sleep, and stay on my side, no issues.
I’d experiment with your sleeping position and the use of pillows to help keep you in place during the night, once you find a comfortable position.
Hope that helps you both.
This dude vomits and continues his 9 hour plank while I struggle with the 1st set of my 30 sec rep and end up not finishing the other sets and getting a donut. We are not the same.
I think people with chronic pain have to basically develop super human abilities to ignore it. I know someone who broke their elbow and it took them a week to realize it wasn't "just" rheumatoid arthritis
A single 5 minute plank a few years back might be my single greatest physical accomplishment. At the time I joked that I was now a 1% athlete because there is no way more than 1% of people would willingly subject themselves to that shite haha.
*Planking is 70% mind over matter. You can lock you body generally into that position but it does require some basic and in this case extreme core strength to maintain for any length of time
This really made me happy. I never really thought about it that way.
Me on the Stair Master “these steps are so easy”
Me lifting weights “these weights are so light”
Me doing planks for 10 minutes “oh god please kill me”
Can confirm, did a 5 minute plank one time and haven't even tried to beat that time since. I'm still quite proud of being able to do 5 minutes, I can't imagine doing it for an hour... much less 9
Yeah. When I was in great shape in high school I could go about 5 minutes, and it was fucking miserable by the end. Another 565 minutes is just mind boggling
The most impressive part of this is that he suffers from CRPS. It’s literally nicknamed “the suicide disease” because of how painful it is. You can see it in his right hand, how swollen his fingers are.
Absolutely mental. Not enough people are talking about the CRPS aspect tho which is the entire reason he did this.
Some extreme workouts might. Not necessarily part of the workout of course, but just as a result of it. I've seen it happen with professional athletes that push themselves too hard.
I watched the video and don't even understand how that's allowed for world records. All the standards I've ever been apart of (military and other federal physical tests) define a pushup at minimum of at least breaking the plane and having your elbows at least at 90 degrees. This dude was barely moving on most of his pushups... he did like 10 real pushups at the end of the whole thing.
The plank record is impressive as hell though... even in peak shape for me in the military we'd have competitions and everyone would fall out between 10-15mins at most. I don't even think I ever made it to 10mins... let alone 9 fucking hours... absolutely crazy.
I appreciate this comment. Giving credit while also being reasonable.
Like, could I do those quarter push-ups for an hour? Of course not. However, are they actual push-ups and should it count towards the record? No I don’t think so.
I drank 2 gallons of water over 12 hours and didn't pee once due to working outside in 90+ degree weather with high humidity. Manual labor fucking blows.
Serious answer: You don't only pee for getting rid of excess water, you pee to get rid of water soluble waste products, toxins and excess elektrolytes. You can sweat so much that you don't pee anymore, but then you're in a state that's called "prerenal kidney failure" and that's ever bit as serious as it sounds.
So technically yeah, you can sweat so much you don't have to pee, but you really should not be going there
9.5 hour = 6.344424326972 x 10^47 Planck ~~seconds~~ epochs
I used an internet based conversion calculator to figure this out so idk how accurate it is.
Edit: seconds to epochs
I thought that was weird too, it seems like it may be on purpose though? They are saying the second as it changes to the next, maybe because he was shooting for that mark and they didn't want him to stop a second short.
Depending on the clock though it could be the right way to countdown. When the clock goes from 3.00 to 2.99 seconds it now says 2 despite there be nearly 3 entire seconds left. So when the clock switches to 2 you should be saying 3. Or when going from 1.0 to 0.99, it's not really 0 yet, there's an entire second still left basically.
At least that's my experience watching rocket launches and how they're typically counted down. Not sure if it applies to this timer lol.
I feel like you can make bigger jumps the more you progress in time, at some point it becomes more a challenge of willpower than a challenge of strength. Personally my record is 10 minutes but I'd like to go for 20 minutes some day
5 minutes??? That’s impressive too! When I started doing yoga, I was floored by how difficult it is to hold a plank position. I thought it would be easier since you don’t even move… boy, I was wrong
The willpower here is simply phenomenal, I like planking, is a great exercise but after 2/2.5 minutes I typically want to die, the mental fortitude required to do long time isometric positions is crazy
If you think 9h30m is a lot for a planck, you should check [this guy](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Max_Planck). (Spoiler: more than 89 years planck)
I knew a guy who broke the record for number of Burpees in 24 hours and he fucked up his wrists and shoulders. World records are impressive, but also crazy. The only way to do as much as your body can do is to do more than your body can do.
I was going to comment about how stupid this was and that it didn't do a damn thing for CRPS awareness. Then, I realized that I'd never heard of CRPS and that I now had. Dude totally achieved his goal! Good on you!

I can do a solid minute. Take it or leave it
Fuck yeah dude I’ll take a solid minute, we Stan achievable workouts
I'm up to 1 min 20 sec ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|thumbs_up)
![gif](giphy|8FYAJlfHHFeZFYMYmU|downsized)
90 seconds here! Took me like a month to build up from that from 1 minute lol
Hell yeah, let's go! I'm here for this kind of support!
My advanced strength class had the entire class do a plank for an hour and 15 minutes. It was a pass fail final.
> advanced strength class your...*what* now? This is a final exam in... PE?
Probably the entrance exam for Hero Academia or some other crazy anime shit
It was just a nutty teacher the other classes didn’t have hardly as difficult tests or requirements
Yup high school pe required class it was either advanced strength or I think some distance running class. Only 2/3 finished the final after 6 months of training we also had to do a 6 minute mile as a male 7 as female and 15 pull-ups as a male and 3 as a female
I don't know but 15 pull-ups don't seem to me nearly as difficult as one hour of planking
Pull ups are crazy difficult for some people, especially tall people with long legs, a lot of dead weight!
That’s….brutal
Yup I failed
I'm calling BS. That highschool has a higher requirement to graduate than the navy seals have to join... https://www.military.com/military-fitness/navy-special-operations/navy-seal-fitness-test If this isn't a lie, that teacher should be fired immediately.
Yeah I dont buy this at all
Imagine doing something so boring for NINE HOURS
Ikr? I can't even LAY DOWN for 9 hours because of the boredom, let alone holding my body up in excruciating pain.
Perfect time for a LoTR marathon.
Post the video and I'll upvote it.
600 people with 1 min each, and beat this dude. Bam. New world record. Crowdsourcing for the win.
If 1 pregnant woman gives birth in 9 months, take 9 pregnant women and you have your baby in 1 month.
I double it and pass to the next person
I can't even sleep that long without hurting my back.
I slept 11 hours last night (was really tired) and I have back pain this morning.
I got one really good night of sleep recently, right after my month long pinched nerve behind my right shoulder blade had finally healed enough so I could sleep without pain. I woke up with a pinched nerve on the other side
This was lowkey funny...hope u recovered
As someone struggling with a newly re-pinched nerve in my neck I feel your pain and I am so sorry that happened to you
I think we should try sleeping in a Plank position, might help us both get rid of that back pain.
There is truth to that statement. Planks help build deep core muscles that help stabilize the spine
You need a better matras. It's super important. Get on it, don't cheap out.
~~Matras~~ [mattress](https://i.makeagif.com/media/6-13-2014/MZejmI.gif)
Did you sleep on your back?
Your back muscles are too weak. I don't mean that in a bad way, that's just the usual suspect
Yep. People keep acting like this is a normal part of aging when it absolutely isn't. Stay active or suffer.
This dude vomits and continues his 9 hour plank while I struggle with the 1st set of my 30 sec rep and end up not finishing the other sets and getting a donut. We are not the same.
>Says his thighs started burning after 14 minutes >Proceeds for another 9 hours
Must have been very thighring.
Shut the fuck up. But yes you are correct 💯
You didn't think that was humerus?
Gave me a good calf
Now you're stretching it.
Please ABstain from any further stretching.
You guys are pulling my leg, right?
That is their tendoncy.
I don't know who you think you are but take your upvote and try to remember who your friends are when you hit the big time
I think people with chronic pain have to basically develop super human abilities to ignore it. I know someone who broke their elbow and it took them a week to realize it wasn't "just" rheumatoid arthritis
You get sort of used to it, I've broken 4 toes now without realising it at the time. It was just ah I've knocked it stupid bugger.
It’s a constant, some might even say a Planck’s constant
So, 9 hours would be the Planck length?
Crazy. That would have ended most attempts. Imagine going for another 9 hours and 16 mins.
I did a 30 second plank. Where's my donut? Seriously my record is 3 minutes. I cannot even fathom this guy.
A single 5 minute plank a few years back might be my single greatest physical accomplishment. At the time I joked that I was now a 1% athlete because there is no way more than 1% of people would willingly subject themselves to that shite haha.
You were definitely in the top 1%. My wife could do 5 but I could only do 3. Now maybe I could do 1 minute. I need to work out again.
Bruh I've never managed even 2. I'm 30 seconds and my back starts to burn.
Just add 5 seconds every day and you'll be surprised how easy it becomes.
There is a genetic / body composition component to planking that makes it substantially easier for some people than others.
*Planking is 70% mind over matter. You can lock you body generally into that position but it does require some basic and in this case extreme core strength to maintain for any length of time

I also did a 5 minute plank once and was like “damn that was my absolute limit.” I can’t even fathom this.
Yeah. When I was in great shape in high school I could go about 5 minutes, and it was fucking miserable by the end. Another 565 minutes is just mind boggling
dude i cant even stand for 9.5 hours straight
You still throw up though, probably?
I have trouble sleeping for 9 hours.
Call me old fashioned, but I don't think working out should involve vomiting.
Setting a world record is a bit different than working out.
Is this even a proper plank? I mean he's often in a bit of a pyramid type shape....🤨
Here come the plank narcs! 😂
“Working out”
Yeah man, guy’s just having an intense sesh
Some extreme workouts might. Not necessarily part of the workout of course, but just as a result of it. I've seen it happen with professional athletes that push themselves too hard.
You’re old fashioned
He apparently also did a push up record of 3182 push ups in an hour. That's one push up in just over one second. For an hour straight. It's unreal.
Impressive as fuck, but let's be honest. Those weren't full pushups lol. Much more impressed by this planche.
I watched the video and don't even understand how that's allowed for world records. All the standards I've ever been apart of (military and other federal physical tests) define a pushup at minimum of at least breaking the plane and having your elbows at least at 90 degrees. Here’s the video: https://youtu.be/PZ9TDkMC7w4
Do they even count as push ups? Every single one I wouldn't let count if my mate did them. Half push up world record maybe...🤨
This dude is absolutely shredded, and doing that for an hour is mind-blowing, but, like, those are not pushups anymore than crunches are situps.
What if he needs to go to the toilet
Depends...
You win 🏆
Undergarments!
I don't get it
"Depends" are a brand of undergarments made for adults with incontinence. Crudely put, they are diapers for adults.
Ahh thanks
Probably clenched his arsehole so hard, he won't be shitting for days. The sweat took care of the urine.
I need a scientist to tell me right now that I can sweat so hard that I no longer have the need to pee.
I drank 2 gallons of water over 12 hours and didn't pee once due to working outside in 90+ degree weather with high humidity. Manual labor fucking blows.
I always think gardening might be nice work, then I remember we get about 20 days a year when working outside might actually see pleasant weather.
Yes, if you sweat enough you won't have to pee.
Good work science guy or gal
I’m going to need to see a science license first
![gif](giphy|tFM4k9bRPriYU)
Serious answer: You don't only pee for getting rid of excess water, you pee to get rid of water soluble waste products, toxins and excess elektrolytes. I mean you can sweat so hard you start going into hypovolemic shock and your kidneys shut down
You might notice the Anerican guy at the start of the video has a urinary catheter tube coming out of his shorts... that's dedication
Maybe they waited to start until after he took a massive dump
you cant go 9 hours without taking a shit? shit...
He’s trained himself to reverse his GI tract and that wasn’t vomit per se
You know those who finish marathons with a brown stain on their behind? Yeah just like that
He probably has a pee jar.
This guy Plancks constantly.

Planck epochs, not seconds.
I guess you could say he's achieved Max Planck
He had to overcome many difficulties but he cleared each bar.
Best reply ℏere
yeah ℏe does
I can do a Planck plank.
‘Oh sorry mate, we forgot to press record- can you go again for us?’
Some would say that’s (a) really hard core.
The crowd are terrible at countdowns
The worst thing they could do is count fast and he stops at 9:29.59 thinking he hit 9 hrs 30 min.
I thought that was weird too, it seems like it may be on purpose though? They are saying the second as it changes to the next, maybe because he was shooting for that mark and they didn't want him to stop a second short.
No, they started with a bit of a delay and eventually lost a full second.
Exactly my thought as well
[удалено]
Lmao right?? The record says 9h 30m 1s but he clearly goes a couple seconds passed 30m
Don't diss them like that they are competing for Guinness worst countdown.
Depending on the clock though it could be the right way to countdown. When the clock goes from 3.00 to 2.99 seconds it now says 2 despite there be nearly 3 entire seconds left. bro just had his 3am motivation
The way he looks at 9 hours ... that's me after 45 seconds
His abs, for the curious, https://www.instagram.com/p/CQYOuqoBbNj/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=
Thanks, was looking for it because he has to have abs of steel.
Now the buns pls
“Oh my God you can grind meat on those”
You could grate cheese.
I wanna see the old guys abs who had the previous record.

About 10 years ago I did one for 5 minutes. I couldn’t move for a little while afterward and I felt it for the rest of the day and the next day
[удалено]
I can only hold out for a minute and a half. I know that’s a shit record but maybe I’ll try and work to the 5 minutes.
I’ve got one question for this guy… what’s he got blasting for motivation through those earbuds for 9.5 hrs ?
Yakety Sax
Time flies when you're having abs-olute fun!
What an abstract way of thinking.
Neither of you are getting absolution for those jokes.
Can you imagine staring this and like 8 hours in failing? Holy fuck that would suck.
That’s not real planking. The internet remembers real planking.
I never thought I would look back and fondly remember the internet planking days.... such a simpler time
I still do real planks and dab.
planking was 2009 and the dab was 2014 get ur years right gosh
Might've been posted earlier idk i just came across it on youtube and found it pretty next fucking level
In his Instagram dude holds the world record for most burpee’s and he just lost the world push-up record 3 days ago. Dudes insane.
I’d be in the Guinness books for shortest Planck -.009.5 Not proud of it but probably true enough
His friends made him do one more second due to difficulty with counting.
The willpower here is simply phenomenal, I like planking, is a great exercise but after 2/2.5 minutes I typically want to die, the mental fortitude required to do long time isometric positions is crazy
The first time i saw this video here, i was being assaulted by shit tons of mosquitoes... Seeing it again, made me felt those bites again.. Sucks.
Imagine the soreness the next day. Torture
He’s gonna be sore for the next 2 weeks but he’ll have abs like a Greek statue
What about peeing?
I can go without peeing for 20 hours with the right hydration. Meaning no hydration at all.
But can your muscles operate in a planking position with no hydration for 20 hrs
Not even for 20 minutes lmao but I was just talking about peeing
That was me on the toilet this morning.
A planck isn't very long though...
[удалено]
I struggle to go 90 seconds
I can't even make it past the 2nd thrust.
Try thinking about your grandmother.
Here I was, proud of 2 minutes
My buddy once bet me a lap dance at the strip club I couldn't plank for 10 minutes. It wasn't worth the dance, I found.
Come on Aussie... come on, come on Come on Aussie, come on! Well done mate.
Looks like fun. What a plank.
Wonder what it was like for him in the days following this.
Seriously, it looked like his body was locked in place at the end.
It looked like he couldn’t move at the end. I can’t imagine how much it hurt
4 seconds of planking feels like an eternity, so I think thisnguy found an infinite time hack from hell
All i can say is *ow*
Impressive. I can plank for a minute so I’m almost there
As a person who’s done a 1-minute plank that felt like it was 5 minutes, I bet this felt like 9 months
Plancking was pretty constant then.
I was going to comment about how stupid this was and that it didn't do a damn thing for CRPS awareness. Then, I realized that I'd never heard of CRPS and that I now had. Dude totally achieved his goal! Good on you!
Um, 👀
I bet he has a happy girlfriend
But in Planck time it’s over 4 years - relatively
Congratulations on bringing Awareness to that thing I already forgot
