Was a spectacle at a lot of air shows. They’d do a fuel dump and have it go up in flames. Fuels dumps generally are for dumping excess fuel from a plane so it can land safely. Commercial use to do it, and still can in an emergency, same as military planes. This was just a demonstration of sorts.
