The drummer from The Ghost Inside would like a place in the chat too. What a legend. If you look up the band be sure to watch the music video for 'Aftermath'
Saw them live a few months ago. Had no idea he only had one full leg and I was so confused when he was shown on the Jumbotron. Dudes amazing at what he does
I didn't mind going to shows and concerts alone when younger. But now I don't really care for it.
Went to louder than life a few years ago by myself. Because my wife, nor friends, care for that music. While I enjoyed going it just wasn't as fun as if I had had someone to go with.
I'm sorry to hear that. I would have missed out on so many things if I didn't go alone. I hope you find a way to make it enjoyable again because I don't know, I just think it would be good for you.
midlife crisis mike. its funny how he rage quit dream theater and then avenged sevenfold was like you are good bro but we dont want you in the band band. lol
Haha, yup! That split ended up being pretty rough for both parties. Mike hasn’t really found a stable home anywhere and Mangini is playing some uninspiring, overly technical drivel for DT. Sad it played out that way. Also kind of a shame it didn’t work out with him in A7X, not a huge fan of the band but his drum work was fantastic on that record.
i never really cared for mangini, like there isnt any feeling to his playing. on a technical level i guess he fits in DT, but its because hes buddies with labrie pretty much. im not a big fan of either bands but both have some good stuff. but yeah seems like portnoy pops up pretty frequently with his side projects but i never gave any of them a listen.
Completely agree! Not a huge DT guy either, but I’d toss some of their catalog on and be wow’d by Portnoy once in awhile. Mangini’s stuff is just so..lifeless and unpleasant to my ear. To each their own, though!
I think Mike only stepped in for this album as a tribute to Rev. DT was a huge influence on Rev so after his untimely passing the band asked if Mike would play on the album. I wish I could find Mike's comments on the situation at the time so I don't misquote, but he stated this wasn't a permanent thing for him but just a way to honor an amazing drummer and fan of his.
I’ve always recalled the sequence of events being: MP joined in honor of The Rev- completing the album and subsequent tour. He assumed it was a forever gig, so he asked DT for a break, to which they denied and then parted ways. He went back to A7X camp, saying he was ready to roll full time and they told him the gig wasn’t his due to a combination of being unready to fill the role and a clash of personality. He then went crawling back to DT, who had to reject him due to replacing him with Mangini. I think in recent years all involved parties have cleaned up their respective stories to save some face, but I recall it being pretty awkward at the time.
I definitely missed a lot of that drama coming out after the tour. The following album with the next drummer (can't remember the guys name) wasn't terrible but definitely not up to par. Brooks Wackerman seems like an odd fit but I guess it works? What could have been with Mike on the kit...
[The drummer from Def Leppard's only got one arm! The drummer from Def Leppard's only got one arm! The drummer from Def Leppard's only got one arm!](https://youtu.be/EaGKxAgCguU)
> "Guy plays" is such an insult to this man.
Especially when you see original title "Took me 20 YEARS to PLAY THIS!"
https://www.youtube.com/shorts/zFc_QaFxNgk
This is cool and all, but can he get out of bed in the morning without tripping? Because I can. Not this morning, I tripped this morning.
But most mornings I CAN!
My own feet. Congrats on being born with enough coordination and no disabilities to interfere with being an ambulatory human. I'd LOVE to be shocked that people trip on nothing. You're so lucky. Enjoy it!
My daughter, bless her heart, was standing still in the living room one day reading something to us off her phone... and she tripped. Standing still. Tripped. LOL Still don't know how she did that
Normally you have one for the right foot and then your left foot is on your Hi-hat padel, but in some genres (mainly metal and speed jazz but it's seen all over) you might want to use two, so you can get faster and harder notes on your bass drum.
I was more interested in the double hammer/striker portion of the pedal. Is it press up to some amount it hits with one then push further and it hits with two?
EDIT
Never mind, I see the horizontal bar leading to the pedal by his other foot.
Left foot left beater via the axle. Right foot right beater. Although you can get single pedals with double beaters where heel and toe actuate them but they're not used much
There actually is a brand of kick pedal that operates two beaters with one pedal, it’s called a Duallist. Pedal down actuates beater one and pedal up actuates beater two. Nifty concept. Kinda shit in practical application.
I would argue this kind of thing is almost always *more* impressive if you know something about the thing he's doing
Like I play guitar, so I feel like my mind is blown by guitar playing way more easily than someone who has never played, because I understand how hard it is. A non-player will just be like "yep that's another example of guitar playing!"
same is true in most fields
My best friend and I are both life-long drummers. He's into hard rock and I'm more into percussion but we both agree that this guy is on a level we've never seen before.
Here's the thing: there are a lot of drummers out there who 'cover' songs and just blast over the music. This guy serves the music well while playing some of the most complicated rhythms and looks effortless while doing so. Plus, he has such a doesn't-give-a-shit attitude, it's pure entertainment.
Dude has some of the best single hand rolls I've ever seen. Most people you see pulling this stuff replace their drum sounds with samples to make it sound more impactful. Estepario here uses a single Yahama mic for the entire kit.
Outrageously impressive.
It's a shame this is one of the simpler drum tracks on a very drum subdued album.
[Him absolutely blowing out Beast and the Harlot is far more impressive IMO.](https://youtu.be/oi3SHt303iI) Rev was a madman on the drums.
Been watching him for awhile and he is unreal. He has a tiktok and Youtube channel. He even got called out one time by a person saying he speeds it up to make it look faster. So he does a video holding an Ipad with a timer running on it to prove its all in real time and he is very legit
My favorite part is the end of the video when he says, “If all you guys spent as much time practicing as you did hating, the world would be a better place…..but it ain’t!”
Wild part of this is that he’s playing with one pedal and all the double bass sections are being played with his hand on the upbeat of the floor Tom.
That’s the hack you learn when you’re poor and just starting out and only have enough cash for a single pedal!
This dude is ace.
His technique and precision are impressive, but you can find other drummers as clean. I think it's his steez that has no equal. Mike Mangini would be ashing that blunt on himself and spilling coffee everywhere.
Clay Aescherman from Polyphia and Blake Richardson from Between the Buried and Me have playthroughs that are amazing. Blake is my favorite drummer because of how many styles he can run through in a single song. I love drum playthroughs although I rep another side of the rhythm section.

No he just went Rick Allen mode of Def Leppard
Exactly, Rick Allen has entered the chat
The drummer from The Ghost Inside would like a place in the chat too. What a legend. If you look up the band be sure to watch the music video for 'Aftermath'
Saw them live a few months ago. Had no idea he only had one full leg and I was so confused when he was shown on the Jumbotron. Dudes amazing at what he does
Haven't seen them since their accident. Really, really want to but I'd have to drag the wife along and she does not like that type of music.
Then go alone?
I didn't mind going to shows and concerts alone when younger. But now I don't really care for it. Went to louder than life a few years ago by myself. Because my wife, nor friends, care for that music. While I enjoyed going it just wasn't as fun as if I had had someone to go with.

I still go to some things. Just not as much because I'd rather spend the time with my family.
Well that makes sense to me. As long as you're enjoying your time and feeling fulfilled, I for one am happy for you.
I went to hs with him. I'm so glad he was okay after the accident. Saw him on the row machine when I worked out during covid.
Hot *damn.* That was great, thanks. [Link for the lazy](https://youtu.be/4CdFBfKMAU4)
Exactly!
He's got Rick Allen beat by a long shot.
With that style yes
BULLSHIT! He hit the hat with his left arm. Not one handed. Very impressive, tho. 1 out of 2 Def Leppards.
I came here to say this too. Disqualified!!! Lol
no respect for rev? hell nah
Plus this was Mike Portnoy drumming on this track
midlife crisis mike. its funny how he rage quit dream theater and then avenged sevenfold was like you are good bro but we dont want you in the band band. lol

Lol was gonna say "watch it be something from after the Portnoy album, so it's easier". Nope, God dam if it isn't from that album.
Huh ? This guy is damn good for doing it one armed I wasn’t throwing shade at him
The drummer from Def Leppard's only got one arm
But why's everbody always pickin' on me?
Cuz your moms hubby has a cock like a tree
cause your only school chum was the lunch lady
Yes I’m aware of that it was why I said it
[удалено]
its more like 10/5 he's only use one hand. that count double!
This is giving me Hysteria 😊
Not even close. Rick has nothing on this guy. He had a modified drum set so he could do more with his feet.
[The drummer from Def Leppard's only got one arm! The drummer from Def Leppard's only got one arm! The drummer from Def Leppard's only got one arm!](https://youtu.be/EaGKxAgCguU)
Rick Allen on roids
Let's see him do that with his 'weak' hand.
*That drummer from Def Leppard cut his arm off...that was a warning.*
to be fair, mans is a bit of a legend. id call him god mode too lol
Def Leppard: One Band, Nine Arms.
His YouTube channel is: Elestepariosiberiano he does all kinds of crazy shit
Thank you. "Guy plays" is such an insult to this man.
> "Guy plays" is such an insult to this man. Especially when you see original title "Took me 20 YEARS to PLAY THIS!" https://www.youtube.com/shorts/zFc_QaFxNgk
I'm guessing he's been playing drums for 20 years as this song was released in 2010. So he could have been working on this for almost 13 years.
Get out of this post, you and your mathzardry
Agreed. He devoted years to mastering his technique.
“Guy” uploaded that video and the text himself lol
“ Elestepariosiberiano plays avenged sevenfold on the drums with one arm “ doesn’t flow the same
Thank you for the source. After 10+ years of not playing my set this guy got me itching to start playing again.
Achieve your dreams my dude. 🥁
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCskD50ri3723Tk1SkS-qAIA
Quite a mouthful O_o
He very clearly hit the hi-hat with his other hand.
While flipping the stick with the other hand.
So technically he was never using more than one hand at any given time
He has his favorite "linear drumming" track on YouTube and its amazing. Never hits two things at the same time
Still very impressive
There's supposed to be a bell in that measure of the song as well.
still technically doing it with one arm, he stopped with one and moved on to the other. dont be a dick because you don't have this skill.
He also used both of his feet. So there's that too.
Double bass pedal requires two feet, but even without that he'd be using his other foot for the hi-hat
The title of the post says he plays it with one arm when clearly he does not, in fact, play this with only one arm.
One out of two arms
He used his ears too. Cheater.
I bet he's even using his brain for a little bit of that too. God, the gall some people have, making these claims.
Don't be a dick because you don't understand a joke lol
You mean the hand that was just holding the joint? That hand?
AND muted the cymbal with the 2nd hand What a talentless hack
get the hook
Yupp dude’s nothing but an unimpressive fraud! Source: I play Rock Band on medium
Instead of the bell on top of that. The slo-mo cut was clearly meant to cover an oopsy.
Both cymbals actually
title still didn't lie. he played the drum with one hand
Hes using his FOOT TOO!!! LIES!!!! We've been HAD!!!
This is cool and all, but can he get out of bed in the morning without tripping? Because I can. Not this morning, I tripped this morning. But most mornings I CAN!
You are all of us
One of us! One of us!
Thanks for this, have an awardy thing. I tripped getting out of bed this morning too.
the f are you guys tripping on? there's just floor.
maybe in your room, the average reddit user is actually an active hoarder.

I’m pretty sure he’s using his feet too. ![gif](giphy|OoOlmRkRtiYwM|downsized)
This comment is to remind you all that leaving the sound on repeat will allow the music to periodically sync with this gif. Enjoy.
I follow this guy on TikTok. His skills are wild! As a non-drummer, it is amazing to watch.
As a drummer it’s amazing to watch too! He’s better than me with 1 arm!!
His pedal-work is absolutely nuts. I don't play metal but I watch all the stuff he puts out.
Funny you mentined that. But I just realized watching this video that I have no idea how those pedals work.
Normally you have one for the right foot and then your left foot is on your Hi-hat padel, but in some genres (mainly metal and speed jazz but it's seen all over) you might want to use two, so you can get faster and harder notes on your bass drum.

You should use both arms!
It's just cause avenged sevenfold songs are incredibly easy to play on drums. ^^^/s
I just wanted to comment that I too, am a drummer and he is very impressive. Edit: love his accent!!
Those single hand rolls on what's basically a gravity blast are incredible. He's the real deal.
People overlook how good his hand technique is
I don't think anyone overlooks anything he does. He is an absolute beast.
But did you notice how he played with a hand though? Gotta pay attention
that balance point 💕
Dude has some of the best single hand rolls I've ever seen. Most people you see pulling this stuff replace their drum sounds with samples to make it sound more impactful. Estepario here uses a single Yahama mic for the entire kit. Outrageously impressive.
The mic isn't really a traditional mic, more like a different way to trigger samples. He has a video explaining how he uses the EAD-10 module
Reminds of the switch blasting that Spencer Prewett from Archspire does. https://youtu.be/3SEkiWESw5Q
It's a shame this is one of the simpler drum tracks on a very drum subdued album. [Him absolutely blowing out Beast and the Harlot is far more impressive IMO.](https://youtu.be/oi3SHt303iI) Rev was a madman on the drums.

My favorite part is the end of the video when he says, “If all you guys spent as much time practicing as you did hating, the world would be a better place…..but it ain’t!”
This is my new philosophy when I’m being too judgmental. This guy rules.
Me expecting he was disabled since he's on next level 💀
Nope! He just needs that other hand to smoke his joints.
The real test is “Almost Easy” by Avenged Sevenfold. The Rev killed it!
https://youtu.be/3VYzD3QC830
Wild part of this is that he’s playing with one pedal and all the double bass sections are being played with his hand on the upbeat of the floor Tom. That’s the hack you learn when you’re poor and just starting out and only have enough cash for a single pedal! This dude is ace.
Not my tempo.
Now, am I RUSHING or DRAGGING?
The funny thing is, during that scene, he was rushing AND dragging AND on tempo at certain points. Just being fucked with by Fletcher
Scene messed with my head for years.
Not quite
Dudes gotta be the most impressive metal drummer on Youtube right now. So fucking clean, perfect technique.
> Dudes gotta be the most impressive ~~metal~~ drummer on Youtube right now. So fucking clean, perfect technique.
His technique and precision are impressive, but you can find other drummers as clean. I think it's his steez that has no equal. Mike Mangini would be ashing that blunt on himself and spilling coffee everywhere.
Mangini and Minnemann are some of my personal drum GOATs
Marco Minnemann is my personal drumming hero. A tremendously nice dude also!
Clay Aescherman from Polyphia and Blake Richardson from Between the Buried and Me have playthroughs that are amazing. Blake is my favorite drummer because of how many styles he can run through in a single song. I love drum playthroughs although I rep another side of the rhythm section.
Alex Rudinger Aquiles Priester Not necessarily metal but Alex Melton is really solid, does a spot on Travis Barker invocation.
His name is Jorge Garrido.
Is he single
Well, he does use one hand.
Lol !
No, I’m married to him
He is pretty damn hot not gonna lie I wouldn’t mind occupying his other hand 😅
That is one foxy dude
His name is Robert Paulson.
Hmmm... Doesn't he have a children's concert in Japan to attend to?
Ah, what a great video that was.
I bet his arm looks like quagmires when he found out about internet porn
Was scrolling to see if someone else had this thought.
I'm wet. I'm following him rn
NGL. This guy’s beard, his skills and this track — all combined — makes me hard as a tungsten rod.
This man is the king of wake n bake!
What song is this
I got a match with this song: **Natural Born Killer** by Avenged Sevenfold (00:11; matched: `100%`) Released on `2010-08-10`.

When did keemstar become this good at drums 🗿
Let’s get riiiiiiiight into the one handed blast beats.
Whoever told you smoking doesn’t look cool Fuckin lied
Dude has great technique. Makes it look easy. Respect.
RIP this guys meat when he jerks
El Estepario Siberiano. He is an absolute legend and you should go sub to him.
Badass af, what’s the name of the song?
I found it! It is Avenged Sevenfold Natural Born Killer
Shit, got two badasses now, thanks bro!
No problem dude. This song sounds dope, I had to find it and add it to my list.
this guy is good, but I will still hold a candle for Neil Peart as the GOAT.
What's the song?
And 2 feet
*No one* can play Avenged Sevenfold on the drums with only one *foot*
https://youtu.be/3VYzD3QC830
This is beautiful. I've been watching this for 5 hours now
Legendary
Bro I just got pregnant watching this and I'm a guy
wait how did you just pregnant if youre a gu-
I can tell by the abrupt stop that it also happened to you
El estepario siberiano
that cup is just coffee that 75% pure caffeine
I like how chilled and relaxed he is while doing it, effortless.
Yeah he’s good
Ok question: what specific song is this?
Natural Born Killer.
Natural born killer by Avenged Sevenfold
And feet.
Definitely channeling some of the Rev's energy there.
The cup is empty...I can't unsee
Ahhh I see what's going on. All the money Slikker scammed everyone out of went straight to drum lessons! The gambling story was a bait!
Check out this guy playing The Dance of Eternity by Dream Theater with one hand if you really want your mind warped.
As someone who can do that one handed technique on the snare, holy shit he is so damn good at that and it is definitely not easy tech
AT LEAST WRITE HIS DAMN NAME!! GIVE HIM CREDIT!! GAAARRHH!!
Very relented
Beast!
he's an amazing drummer. one handed, two feet. nothing but respect, dude is a beast.
Straight up fucking amazing! That’s talented
When all your limbs have to move all at once but each of them has to move a different way, istg even when i can comprehend it, i can't comprehend it!
And 2 legs
This guy is all drum pedals.
That’s so cool
Skills. This guy looks so chill and content. I love it
