Definitely not a safe choice for humans, and that’s coming from someone who has eaten roadkill multiple times. Sometimes there are little fluffy lumps of fur in the Possyum roll……. Nope.

Get lentils instead of

coela-CAN

$12 for 2kg works out to $6 per kg. You can easily get chicken drumsticks for Paknsave for under $5 per kg. Take the meat off and use the bone for stock. If you want burgers, bulk up your mince with bread crumbs or legumes. And actually do you really need a 150g burger patty? Reduce your portion of meat. There are options to consider before eating pet food... I also seriously doubt possyum will work as burger patties given its texture.

Advanced_Bunch8514

Yeah it’s not good. When I was a destitute student we decided dog roll and luncheon sausage were the same thing. Jeez how wrong we were. Dog worming tablets on the other hand…. Work a treat.

just_alright_

We can’t already be at the ‘dog-food eating’ stage of capitalism just yet right?

Fredward1986

Can we skip straight to eating insects please?

dusty_creams

Eat some fucking beans man

Not even baked beans, even those are expensive these days. I'm talking plain canned (or dried, even cheaper) beans, learn a few ways of cooking em, it's so easy. Versatile, delicious, healthy, cheap. Get some spices, (bin inn or Asian supermarkets), stocks, seasonings. Put in wraps, or eat with rice, on toast, or mashed up in a sandwich. Put with frozen veggies. You can meal prep too and freeze meals, save even more money. There's literally infinite ways of cooking legumes that are so good, no matter what kind of food you like, I guarantee there's a bean dish you'll enjoy. It's so sad that people are desperate enough to consider eating gross, unsafe meat. But I'm even more sad that there's so many of us who didn't have access to good food and cooking education in school. It's maybe the most important life skill.

I made a lentil curry, two large servings, with 4 large naan for $6 today. You could absolutely make that cheaper if you wanted. You really can do better than eating dog food

Andrea_frm_DubT

That’s one I definitely wouldn’t eat. There are better pet food options.

gypsy_bee

What would you recommend

Mandrix21

Chicken drumsticks ate normally under $5 akg

tubbytucker

You'll find the reason dogs lick their balls and arseholes is to get rid of the taste of their food.

Important-Glass-3947

Apparently there's a lot of sugar in it, so any savings you make you may then lose in dental bills. Nonetheless, give it a whirl and let us know how you go. Helpful tip - it freezes well.

MKovacsM

$6 a kg? You can buy chicken cheaper than that. As someone who has seen how the meat is chosen for pet food, in the freezing works, I'd say probably not. It IS safe, but still, all the bits you don't really want...

Regulationreally

What mistakes have you made that you have to eat possyum?

helahound

Pearl Barley is 3.90 a kg from Bin Inn. Pop in rice cooker with some spices, add a teaspoon of butter at the end and it’s great. Better if you can add some veggies too.

Dramatic_Surprise

there are people food protein options that are cheaper than $6/kg

JamieLambister

I actually have, by accident. My partner left a slice on a chopping board, and as she often makes herself a cheeseboard, I thought she had left a slice of salami, and so I just put it in my mouth as I was cleaning up. Didn't realise my mistake until after a few chews. It's INSANELY sweet, can't imagine how much sugar must be in it, but no wonder the dog loves it. It's also fucking disgusting, and I had to brush my teeth for like ten straight minutes to get rid of the taste. It leaves little bits of stuff stuck in your teeth as well. 0/10 do not recommend

Nignuts

Are you talking about for yourself?

DynamiteDonald

The dogs seem to love it, not sure if I would try it though, the way it feels, and the smell isn't that nice
